Resumo
This study aims to investigate the opinion of undergraduates, who are studying Libras at a Federal University in the interior of the state of São Paulo, expect this as a contribution to future education in deaf education. Based on research conducted in the field of deafness and recent legislation, we developed a quantitative and qualitative descriptive field research that, through the application of questionnaires to 54 undergraduate students, raised important aspects about the implementation of the discipline. The results indicate that due to the reduced workload many students confuse basic concepts related to Libras and deafness, such as the purpose of language learning and the role of Libras interpreter translator in deaf education. We hope, with this investigation, not to let the discussions end and that the offer of the discipline can be rethought to fulfill its role: to promote the inclusion of deaf students.
