Formação de educadores sociais de casas de acolhimento infantojuvenil: construindo demandas e propostas de ação
Abstract
Children and adolescents are subjects of rights and the heed for this population must be
guaranteed in a co-responsible and intersectoral manner. Therefore, when a child or adolescent
has their rights violated, in family life, the ECA provides, on an exceptional and provisional
basis, the measure of institutional care. It is necessary for the team to understand the problem
faced and the skills needed to carry out effective care actions. This study aimed to identify the
perceptions of social educators from a residential child and youth care about the work developed
at the institution, its strengths and challenges, and the demands related to the theoreticalpractical training of educators. The subjects were ten educators from a residential child and
youth care, located in a city of the state of São Paulo. Data collection was carried out virtually,
using the participants' identification form instruments and a virtual questionnaire via the Google
Forms® platform, with educators working in the service for at least three months. Data were
analyzed descriptively, using Bardin's thematic analysis technique. The results show that the
continued training of these professionals is necessary; there is a lack of support from municipal
and state services; need for team support for a more effective work and salary recognition.
However, there is a shortage of studies involving perceptions about theoretical and practical
information, the collaborative participation of educators in the process of carrying out
professional practice and in their training. Thus, the continuity of studies of this nature is
indicated, to contribute to a greater understanding of the theoretical knowledge of professionals
regarding the issue of institutionalized children and adolescents.
