Despite the inclusion of indigenous peoples in the Brazilian public university, there are several barriers that prevent indigenous students, especially women, from remaining in their course. The general objective of this work is to create an overview of studies already published on the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of existing affirmative actions in Brazil for indigenous women. The methodology used was documentary research on the main academic platforms, followed by government websites, scientific articles and published magazines that address issues related to indigenous themes at the university, especially on the presence of indigenous women in public universities. The greatest difficulty was to find, specifically, data that revealed actions aimed at the female indigenous public and exact numbers of indigenous university students entering or even completing higher education, which suggests further studies on this topic that is so important for Brazilian higher education.
