Educação Infantil e a criança negra: análise das produções do PPGE UFSCar sobre as relações étnico-raciais na infância (2004-2018)
Abstract
The present work deals with the black theme in early childhood education, especially in how
teaching and research on racial issues aimed at childhood contribute to combat actions that
minimize and disregard social, political and historical issues that influence the treatment of
the black population, especially children. The study relies on fragmented knowledge in 11
national academic productions, and the research is the product of a critical review of
specialized literature. The methodological approach admitted refers to a bibliographic
analysis from the perspective of qualitative research, which allows investigating and interpret
the contributions of the authors in an analytical way, going through the lines of research,
educational practices, as well as the levels of commitment, understanding and construction
of individual and collective conceptions in relation to the theme. The study's main goal is to
analyze how the selected researchers analyze and present in their scope racial and ethnic
issues in Early Childhood Education, as well as the young black child. For this, the
theoretical and methodological reference is based on the analysis of dissertations and
theses produced with a time frame of 2004 to 2018 in the base of the Graduate Program in
Education at the Federal University of São Carlos. In addition, it seeks to locate
methodologies present in academic productions that indicate principles of an anti-racist
education in childhood, which must necessarily be inclusive in all its levels and forms,
changing the conditions of existence of racialized populations, present in the social. The
problem that guides the development of this study was thus stipulated: "How does the
research produced in the scope of the PPGE of UFSCar analyze and present ethno-racial
issues in Early Childhood Education and the black child? What would be the contributions of
such works to foster an anti-racist pedagogical practice in childhood?". The results perceived
with the research unfold harmful relations that cause infinite violence in Children's Education,
which brings innumerable aspects to collaborate about the importance of ethno-racial
teaching since Children's Education and the positive impact that it promotes in the psyche of
children, as well as, the importance of Afro-Brazilian History and Culture in the school and in
the formation of teachers, in order to eliminate the diverse forms of racism and discrimination
that still prevail in our educational institutions.
