Crítica ao epistemicídio e ao colonialismo na obra Anti-bandeirante de Maré de Matos: desdobramentos semióticos
Abstract
The course conclusion work sought to analyze the photographs entitled História (History), Selvagem (Wild) and Tradição (Tradition), which make up the set called Anti-bandeirante. These works were created by Brazilian visual artist and writer Maré de Matos, dated 2019, and the analysis is based on discursive semiotic theory. The objective was to critically approach the representations of these works in relation to epistemicide and coloniality, integrated into the Brazilian sociocultural context. When conducting the analysis, we explored the generative path of meaning at its fundamental, narrative and discursive levels, in addition to investigating the plane of expression present in these works. The results obtained indicated that discourse is not intrinsically "natural" or an absolute reflection of facts, but, on the contrary, a construction. This construction, in the context of a society shaped by coloniality, triggers various forms of oppression, with structural racism being a tangible manifestation of this phenomenon.
