Desenvolvimento Orientado ao Transporte Sustentável (DOTS): avaliação das condições atuais e da autocorrelação espacial entre setores censitários de um bairro de São Carlos-SP
Abstract
Urban mobility planning plays a crucial role in building sustainable and efficient cities as it promotes universal accessibility and contributes to environmental preservation. To support its implementation, the internationally recognized TOD Standard - Transit-Oriented Development Standard — is presented as a criterion to evaluate the mobility conditions in cities. The objective of this research is to combine the aforementioned TOD methodology with classical concepts of spatial statistics in a neighborhood of São Carlos-SP, a medium-sized Brazilian city, to estimate its current conditions of sustainable urban mobility and assess whether there is spatial autocorrelation between census tracts (defined by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics - IBGE) in relation to the TOD indicators. The application of the methodology in the Cidade Jardim neighborhood of São Carlos-SP allowed the identification of overall TOD standards ranging from Very Low to Low, with moderate spatial autocorrelation between census tracts only in bicycle use. The main limitations of the study include methodological simplifications concerning the TOD Standard itself and the subdivision of the units of analysis. Future work is suggested to use other units of analysis and conduct bivariate analyses to better address the spatial association between the TOD criteria.
