This work proposed the application of Critical-Transformative Environmental Education through the Generator Theme approach, resulting in the study of bird ecology as a curricular and teaching-learning axis within the context of a public state school in a municipality in the interior of São Paulo. To this end, an action research methodology was used, grounded in the Organizational Moments of environmental practices via generative themes. Through active listening to the students and an analysis of their conceptions about the environment, a gap was identified between popular knowledge and the scientific understanding essential for citizen environmental education. The focus on bird ecology made it possible to explore biological, ecological, and social content, valuing students' concrete reality and promoting critical reflection on their relationship with the environment. The research revealed that, despite the constant presence of birds in people’s daily lives, their ecological role is often overlooked in the school setting. This work highlights the importance of pedagogical practices that break away from traditional models and prioritize the collective construction of knowledge, in dialogue with the lived experiences of students.

This research aims to explore how the learning of cross-cutting themes can contribute to the health of participants in a social basketball project. Using a qualitative approach, the study was conducted at the ASPA Institute, in Araraquara/SP, with children aged 7 to 10 years, through a pedagogical intervention consisting of six cross-cutting activities distributed across three thematic blocks. Data collection included semi-structured interviews with the participants of the local unit, the coordinator of the Multidisciplinary Department, and the reference Physical Education teacher of the social project, as well as field notes and documental analysis of the Institute’s Bylaws and Reference Guide. Data were analyzed using Structural Content Analysis (ANCO), based on isotopies, in order to identify recurring meanings in the participants’ statements and experiences. The theoretical framework is grounded in Jorge Larrosa-Bondía’s notion of experience, articulated with the health concepts from the Ottawa Charter (1986) and the 8th National Health Conference (1986). The results indicate that the implementation of cross-cutting themes within the context of educational sport is related to the health of children participating in the social project, strengthening bonds and expanding learning beyond the court, not limited to the biological dimension alone. The study contributes to the health debate by discussing the role of educational sport in promoting the health of children in situations of social vulnerability, reinforcing the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in Physical Education.

Affectivity in the school environment was for many years considered a secondary aspect of the educational process, associated solely with the emotional dimension, as if it were dissociated from the construction of scientific knowledge. Studies show that affectivity is a highly relevant element for meaningful learning and the integral development of students, as proposed by the Brazilian National Common Curricular Base (BNCC). In the context of Science education, this dimension becomes even more significant, since the bond between teacher and student directly influences engagement and scientific curiosity. This is because the production of scientific knowledge tends to be distant from the general population, generating a certain depersonalization—that is, a distancing between students and the subjects who produce science. The objective of this study was to analyze the perceptions of pre-service Biological Sciences teachers regarding affectivity in the teaching and learning process, as well as to understand the extent to which this dimension impacts the construction of scientific knowledge. A qualitative-quantitative study was conducted using an online questionnaire administered via Google Forms, consisting of twelve questions—seven closed-ended questions based on a Likert scale and five open-ended questions—applied to undergraduate students in the Biological Sciences Teacher Education program at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). The responses were analyzed through Discursive Textual Analysis (DTA), complemented by descriptive quantitative analysis of the closed-ended questions. The results indicated that pre-service teachers recognize the relevance of affectivity in Science education, highlighting its role in fostering interest and scientific curiosity, creating meaningful bonds, and humanizing pedagogical practices. Difficulties in balancing affectivity and authority also emerged in the responses, especially in light of teacher devaluation and work overload, as well as the constant pressure for performance and high achievement imposed by the current educational system. It is therefore concluded that affectivity should be understood as an ethical, intentional, and political practice that goes beyond the emotional sphere and is established as a structuring element of the educational process, contributing to a more humane, critical, and reflective approach to Science education.

This study analyzed the context, challenges, and impacts of implementing the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) in Brazil. Focusing on companies that use waste as raw material for biofuel production, the research adopted a qualitative and exploratory approach to assess the criteria and standards of the certification, as well as its practical applications in the Brazilian context. The growing interest of the European market in Brazilian biofuels was highlighted, as Brazil is one of the world's leading producers of this type of fuel, underscoring the importance of the ISCC in ensuring compliance with international requirements and access to demanding markets such as Europe. The study emphasized the relevance of certification as a tool to promote traceability, environmental compliance, and waste reutilization. However, difficulties in implementation were identified, attributed to the European origin of the standard and the developmental differences between continents. Despite these challenges, the certification has the potential to transform management practices, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and encourage waste reutilization.

This study analyzes the most common methods of meat preservation, with emphasis on the use of nitrite and nitrate as curing agents, highlighting their technological functions, toxicological aspects, and the main analytical methods described in the literature for their determination. The research was conducted through a bibliographic review, gathering scientific articles, technical books, international standards, and official documents addressing meat quality, safety, and composition. The evaluated studies show that, although nitrite and nitrate are essential for color fixation, the development of characteristic flavor, and the control of microorganisms such as Clostridium botulinum, their use requires monitoring, especially due to the potential formation of nitrosamines and the need to comply with legal limits established for safe application. The study also examined the potential of essential oils as natural alternatives capable of complementing or partially reducing the use of synthetic preservatives, considering their antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, which contribute to product stability. It is concluded that the integration of traditional technologies with natural alternatives represents a promising path for the Brazilian meat industry, promoting improvements in safety, quality, and alignment with the growing demand for more natural products and clean labeling.
