Estudo da vulnerabilidade a erosão da bacia hidrográfica do Ribeirão do Pântano (São Carlos, Analândia e Descalvado-SP), utilizando Geoprocessamento
Abstract
This paper presents a study on the vulnerability in terms of soil loss in a hydrographic basin, scale 1:50,000. Its main purpose is to draw up a vulnerability chart to erosion based on the themes of geomorphology, geology, soil, vegetation, land use and climate. The study area comprises the hydrographic basin of the Ribeirão do Pântano stream, a sub-basin of the Mogi-Guaçu river, which encompasses parts of the municipalities of Analândia, Descalvado and São Carlos, located in the center of the State of São Paulo. The methodological approach proposed by Crepani at al 2001, founded on the concept of Tricart's Ecodynamics, was employed to achieve the objectives of this research. The knowledge on the areas vulnerable to erosion is very important in order to elaborate a proper environmental planning, to control the occupation of the basin soil and to prevent the occurrence of erosion and soil loss in the studied area.
