Nowadays the aging phenomenon has been studied by many researchers because of the characteristics and relevance of the demographic transition and the impact on public policy. Because of this phenomenon, it is considered extremely relevant to the broad scientific production developed view, and in this study we chose to focus on what has been produced in federal universities. This study aims to analyze the Brazilian scientific literature on the topic aging and administration / public management, from scientific publications (qualis A1 and A2 of interdisciplinary and administration areas) and on the registered research groups in groups Directory Research CNPq Brazil (biological areas, health, human and applied sciences). It is a social and exploratory and descriptive study of document analysis and public information. The results suggest that the thematic management / public administration and aging are not being developed directly as both magazines surveyed in the research groups of federal universities. It was decided, therefore, to present a characterization of what both study objects present on the topic aging. Accordingly, it was found that the aging subject is being exploited in different areas of knowledge in an interdisciplinary approach. It was observed that most groups (n = 180) are concentrated in the area of health sciences, with predominant area of medicine (n = 39). As for scientific journals, it was observed that interdisciplinary journals with qualis A2 has a higher number of publications on human aging (n = 262). In this study, further reflection on population aging in the context of public administration studies have concluded that it is necessary, and also points to the need for more studies on aging and public administration.
