Item type:Item, Gestão de resíduos especiais em universidades: estudo de caso da Universidade Federal de São Carlos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2002-10-31) ;Araújo, Valdete Santos de ;Teixeira, Bernardo Arantes do Nascimentohttps://lattes.cnpq.br/1166854416745527Special solid waste has been observed at Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar), campus of São Carlos, and the types of waste have been classified under the following categories: dry recyclable waste (DRW), construction and demolition waste (CDW), yard solid waste (YSW) and laboratorial chemical waste (LCW). It was intended to offer the necessary support in order to achieve a proper management of those types of waste, based on the Agenda 21 and on specific local features. First, data was collected from the specialized literature. Then, field research was held at various Brazilian universities, as well as direct inquiry with the people in charge. Finally the present waste management situation at UFSCar was diagnosed, by identifying the generation sections, and the collection, transportation, treatment and disposal procedures applied at the site. Those procedures or the ones being installed at present were analyzed in order to spot their flaws. Results showed that, although CDW is 4properly collected, it is disposed at dumps around the town without special treatment, causing environmental impacts. DRW, paper specially, is collected to be recycled, but the system presents various management flaws. LCW presented a cumulative stock that should be eliminated by a project in implementation phase, consisting in the proper packing and transportation for incineration. Regarding the LCW to be generated, its management must follow source minimization and prevention procedures before being sent to the Waste Control Center serving the whole campus. YSW is partially used at the university restaurant boiler and as forage at the vegetable garden. The remains are disposed at the rural area of the campus. To improve the special solid waste management at UFSCar, it is necessary to increase the quality on the DRW selective collection, to find better methods of packing and possible recycling to CDW, as well as the complete implementation of the project to minimize and treat LCW.Item type:Item, Alguns aspectos químicos envolvidos na interação Hypsipyla grandella (broca-do-mogno e Swietenia macrophylla (Mogno)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2002-11-08) ;Soares, Marisi Gomes ;Fernandes, João Batista ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2691336077459602https://lattes.cnpq.br/4121936683722215The interaction between Hypsipyla grandella (Mahogany bore) and Swietenia macrophylla was studied in order to understand the chemical and ecological aspects involved on this process. H. grandella is a shoot borer lepdoptera which attack the shoots of the mahogany causing serious economic problems for large scale plantation of this trees. In this work, it was done biological tests with Spodoptera frugiperda and Anticarsia gemmatalis, using the crude extracts from mature leaves against. The ethyl acetate extract, which is composed basically by flavonoids, showed the best activity, killing ali A. gemmatalis larvae. The flavonoids from the S. macrophylla mature leaves were: quercetin (1) and three glycosiled flavonoids with quercetin skeleton substituted by rhamnose (2) glucose (3) and galactose (4) in the 3 position. The compounds were also tested against larvae of the H grandella, which showed toxicity to its larvae. Terpenoids isolated from down part of graft of Cedrela- Toona, was submitted to same test and the results obtained showed the same activity. As the borer attacked only the shoots, eletroantenographic studies were performed in order to determinate if the oils involved in this interaction exercise some kind of olfactory onentation on the process to choice the host plant for this lepidoptera. In the eletroantenographyc study were used volatile oils from the young shoots, mature leaves and senescent leaves of the S. macrophylla. The young shoots showed high electrophysiological responses and the female antennas showed better responses than the male one. The main compounds of the young shoot, mature leaves and senescent leaves were studied by LC/MS. Observations in large scale plantations showed that mahogany trees from the same place, but with origin from different place showed different attacks from the H grandella. Three simultaneous factors are needed for the burnings to happen: favourable meteorological conditions; availability of vegetation fuel; existence of an ignition source. This work studied the susceptibility of the Cerrado vegetation to fire with respect to parameters linked to the three factors: rainfall, relative air humidity and air temperature with respect to the meteorological conditions; vegetation coverage classes with respect to the biomass fuel; proximity to the roads and fire spots from previous days with respect to the ignition source. Location data for the fire spots obtained from the AVHRR/NOAA-12 channel 3 (3,7 mm) images were used as field truth. The study period was between May and October 1998. The study area was divided into 50 km x 50 km cells. The meteorological conditions occurring in 95% of the cells presents fire spots were: rainfall lower than 2 mm; 5-day cumulative precipitation lower than 25 mm; relative air humidity lower than 60%; air temperature higher than 28oC; more than one rainless day before the burning. More than 80% of the Cerrado were susceptible to the fire occurrence, with both locations with and without fire spots presented the minimum meteorological conditions favourable to the vegetation burning described in the literature: rainfall lower than 5 mm; 5-day cumulative precipitation lower than 20 mm; relative air humidity lower than 60%; air temperature higher than 25oC; A method for classifying the Cerrado vegetation coverage to fire susceptibility was also developed. This method was based on 2-weekly mosaics of the AVHRR/NOAA-14 Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and of the channel 3 images. Seven classes of vegetation coverage were discriminated and associated to four degrees of susceptibility: very low, low, medium and high. It was verified that 72% of the burning occurred in the high and medium susceptibility classes, which indicated satisfactory results on the preliminary development of this method. Lastly, the distance between the fire spots and two indicators of anthropic activity was analysed. The indicators were: roads and fire spots previously occurred. About a quarter of the fire spots occurred at up to 10 km from the roads in a area of 582,000 km2 surrounding the roads, which is about 27% of the Cerrado´s total area. On the same way, a quarter of the spots occurred at up to 10 km from the fire spots of the previous day, in an average area of 33,000 km2 at the burning spots surroundings. This area is about 2% of the total area of the Cerrado. It is a study about the manner how the movement engaged in the history of fight for the land and MST s trajectory in it, as well as MST makes a junction with Brazilian Education History, mainly rural education which results in the tentative in introduce its Pedagogic Proposal, called MST s Pedagogic Proposal (Proposta Pedagógica do MST). So, this research studies pedagogic systematizations by the movement to start by its educational experiences in encampments and settlements of Brazil. So far the plant PRS enzymes have not been investigated in great detail. However, accumulated evidences indicate that those enzymes form a complex family of isoenzymes with subcellular localization (mitochondria, cytoplasm and nucleus) and different phosphate dependence characteristics. The prs gene was cloned and had the sequence determined from a sugarcane cDNA library clone identified by the plant genome effort (SUCEST). The sugarcane prs gene contains a 984 bp open reading frame that encodes 328 amino acids protein with a calculated molecular weight of 36.6 kDa. The predicted amino acid sequence has 77 and 78% amino acid identity to the PRS4 of Arabidopsis thaliana and Spinacia oleracea respectively. The phylogenetic reconstruction of selected PRS homologues indicates that this enzyme may be a phosphate-independent PRS isoenzyme. The PRS protein was expressed in Escherichia coli, purified to homogeneity and found to retain secondary structure elements and quaternary arrangement consistent with the known PRS homologues. The availability of the PRS enzyme from another plant and the possibility of expressing the protein in large quantities should provide the basis for a functional and structural analysis of this important enzyme.Item type:Item, A ictiofauna do Ribeirão do Pântano, afluente da margem esquerda do Rio Mogi-Guaçu (Estado de São Paulo). Composição, distribuição longitudinal e sazonalidade(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2002-11-26) ;Perez Junior, Odney Ribeiro ;Garavello, Júlio Césarhttps://lattes.cnpq.br/2778105126670170The ichthyofauna of the Ribeirão do Pântano, a left bank tributary of Rio Mogi-Guaçu was studied on its composition, environmental distribution and seasonal variation. Samples of the ichthyofauna were obtained between May 2000 and July 2001. Several fish catching nets were used to collect: a large sized sieve; gill nets; several sized hand nets, and a hand trawl net. Results showed 62 species pertaining to 17 families and 6 orders. The most specious orders are Characiformes with 30 species and Siluriformes with 22 species, performing 82.1% of the ichthyofauna. The remaining orders are Gymnotiformes including 3 species, Perciformes 2 and Synbranchiformes only one species. This study also revealed a group of constant species: Astyanax altiparanae, A. fasciatus, Hyphessobrycon eques, Cheirodon stenodon, Serrapinnus notomelas, Characidium gomesi, C. cf. zebra, Steindachnerina insculpta, Leporinus striatus, Hoplias malabaricus, Gymnotus carapo, Eigenmannia virescens, Geophagus brasiliensis, Corydoras aeneus, Megalechis personata and Hypostomus ancistroides. A second group of species was determined by the accessory species which includes: Leporinus paranensis, Hoplosternum litoralle, Loricaria prolixa, Hypostomus cf. fluviatilis, H. cf. paulinus and H. regani. And finally a third group considered as accidental species: Serrapinnus heterodon, Cyphocharax modestus, Salminus hilarii, Leporellus vittatus, Leporinus obtusidens, Hoplerythrinus unitaeniatus, Brachyhypopomus sp. cf. Callichthys callichthys, Paravandellia oxyptera, Parastegophilus paulensis, Imparfinis schubarti, Phenacorhamdia tenebrosa, Pimelodella gracilis, Pimelodus maculatus e Rhamdia cf. quelen. Discussions are also produced on the different sites of collection and the species preferences, and a comparison between the Pântano ichthyofauna and other small creeks of São Paulo State was provided.Item type:Item, Uso sustentado e processamento de llex paraguariensis St. Hill (Erva-Mate)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2002-11-27) ;Valduga, Alice Teresa ;Finzer, José Roberto Delalibera ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3768604935693672https://lattes.cnpq.br/9361418070972393The general objective of this thesis was to study the processing of maté Ilex paraguariensis St. Hil Lineage Cambona 4, a renewable natural resource of sustainable form of small farmers in the South of Brazil. An analysis becomes on the conception of the agricultural producers of the city of Machadinho-RS on environment and maté organic culture. A study of the mate processing is carried out initiating with the singeing, using units of laboratory, which consists one of the conventional stages in the maté processing. The contact time is determined to produce similar leaves to the ones of industrial processes. The best operational condition consisted of singeing per 5 minutes, operating the singer in the rotation of 80 rpm. The initial moisture content of maté leaves varied of 61,9 - 65.0% (db), and to the ending of singeing, under action of combustion gases GLP in the average temperature of 181oC, the moisture content it is reduced for 14,6% (db). The drying was carried out in vibrated tray drier, at the operations conditions: air flow in the temperature and velocity of 60oC and 0,64 m/s; amplitude and frequency of vibration, 0.5,10-3 m and 183 m rd/s, being Aù.2/g equal to 1,7; average specific area initial of maté leaves processed was 52,63 cm2/g. The convective coefficients of heat transfer had been quantified, in the operations of singeing and drying, being obtained the average values, 0,316 at 0,606 and 0,097 kJ/m2.min.oC, respectively. The extraction studies of soluble had been carried through the use of two techniques. The first method, agitation and mixing of maté triturated water, was effected at the temperature of 90oC. It was quantified that 50.7% of solids in the maté dehydrated are constituted by soluble, that were extracted in multiple stages of leaching. In only stage 37.1% of solids are extracted. The second method, with fixed bed of triturated maté, it was used an extractor with perforated chamber for draining of the extract. The experiments had been carried out with multiple extractions, each one with new amount of solvent. In only extraction, 35.5% of solids are extracted. The extract presented a solid concentration of 3,4 to 4,5%. Arabic gum was added to the extract in the concentrations of 0, 0,2; 0,4; 0,6; 0,8; 1,0; 1,5 and 2.0%, in relation to it solids content. The mixtures had been affected with the objective to study the influence of the Arabic gum in the drying and the flavor of drinks. The extracts had been processed in spray dryer at the average operations conditions: temperature and flow air: 190oC and 32.1 m3/h; extract feed at 340 mL/h. The moisture content of powder had varied from 1,8 to 6,6% (db). Sensorial analysis was carried out with three formulations at the concentrations: 0; 0,2 and 1,0% of Arabic gum. To the experimental results a statistical treatment was applied and was verified best preference for the formulations with 0.2% of the Arabian gum content. This showed the influence of the encapsulating agent in the aroma retention. The Arabian gum facilitated the powder separation in the cyclone. Concentrated of soluble of maté they were lyophylisated and obtained the lyophilisation curve. A study of caffeine traced was carried out during the processing. The caffeine determinations were effectuate in the: natura mate; singed maté; dried maté after the singeing and powder maté obtained by spray dryer. The losses of caffeine had been of: 33,6% in singeing 40,7% after the drying in vibrated tray; 62,2% after the spray drying. With soluble extracts of maté of spray drying and lyophilisation new products were developed: Mateccino mate mixing with chocolate ; maté candy and suggestions of fine drinks with maté extract. The economic feasibility study of a plant with capacity for processing 1,500 kg maté leaves/h, it showed: the necessity of: annual fixed capital investment of R$ 390.514,00; that the total annual product cost is of R$ 800.322,00; that the total income is of R$ 1512,000.00 and that the annual profit before taxes is of R$ 711.678,00.Item type:Item, Estudos microgravimétricos da deposição de cobre sobre eletrodos de cromo passivado(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2002-11-29) ;Souza, Tatiana Barbosa Petroni Lima de ;Souza, Ernesto Chaves Pereira dehttps://lattes.cnpq.br/1505400360366643Recently were obtained in our laboratory results indicating that Cu deposition on Cr2O3 happens in two steps: at the first one, there is the deposition of an amount smaller than one Cu monolayer, and at the second one there is Cu bulk deposition. Evidences show that the first step mechanism is UPD like, although it is necessary a deeper investigation. In this work the electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM) was employed to characterize such system, using two different electrolytes: H2SO4 and HClO4. The obtained results indicate that Cu deposition happens in a reversible way in H2SO4 at the potentials range studied, and ∆m(y) x ∆Q(x) curves analysis showed that faradaic processes predominate at the system, but anionic and H2O adsorption can also occur on the electrode. The kind of deposited or adsorbed species will depend on the applied potential. In the case of HClO4, microgravimetric studies show that the observed irreversibility to the Cu electrodeposition can be related to two factors: (1) coadsorption of Cl- ions coming from electrolyte degradation, what would catalyse and stabilize Cu deposition; or (2) irreversible NO3 - ions reduction (coming from the used precursor salt) after Cu deposition, taking into account the Cu catalytic activity to these ions reduction, and the extent of calculated molar mass values.Item type:Item, Dieta de aves insetívoras terrestres e a disponibilidade de presas em fragmentos florestais amazônicos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2002-12-03) ;Mestre, Luiz Augusto Macedo ;Dias Filho, Manoel Martinshttps://lattes.cnpq.br/1346547036069954Terrestrial insectivorous birds seem to be the most vulnerable avian guild to tropical forest fragmentation; nevertheless, some species in this group can persist in forest remnants and second growth areas. If sensitivity to forest fragmentation could be associated with diet, thus we expected that species with relatively flexible diet be the ones most likely to persist in forest remnants. This study compared diet overlap, niche breath, prey size, and diet variability in two pairs of sympatric species of terrestrial insectivorous birds, each pair containing one species that persists in small forest fragments and one that does not: Myrmeciza ferruginea and Sclerurus rufigularis, and Formicarius colma and Formicarius analis, respectively. Prey availability in forest fragments was also sampled and compared with availability in continuous forests. The species pair, with similar weight, has diet more overlapped. Niche breath indices did not differ between pair members, and diet variability differed in the opposite direction from that hypothesised. Although the two bird species most vulnerable to forest fragmentation fed on larger prey than less sensitive species, prey availability, including that based on prey size, did not differ among fragmented versus continuous forest sites. Thus, diet per se appears not to be an important cause of extinction-proneness in these species. The simplest explanation proposed, that vulnerability to fragmentation is directly related to territory size, requires testing. Water samples were collected in the Barra Bonita reservoir SP (22º32 34.5 S and 48º29 26.4 W) in two periods (February/01 e July/01), filtered and enriched with glucose. The samples were incubated at 20ºC during 60 days, under aerobic and anaerobic conditions. During the experimental period, aliquots were collected from the mineralization flasks to determine the organic carbon concentration (dissolved and particulate). The global decay coefficient and the coefficients of the three routes admitted by the glucose mineralization model were determined through kinetics fitting. In February (rainy season), the mineralization coefficients were higher ( 10 times) than the mineralization coefficients of July (drought season). In both periods, the anaerobic metabolism showed greater mineralization coefficients (1.4 times in February and 1.1 times in July), than the aerobic one. On the other hand, the carbon immobilization (COP formation) was greater in the aerobic metabolism compared with anaerobic metabolism, in the two periods. The water samples, collected in March/02 in the same place described above, were taken to determine the total and dissolved monosaccharides from polymeric polysaccharide released by bacterioplankton during glucose mineralization. These samples were filtered, enriched with glucose and incubated at 20ºC during 30 days, under aerobic conditions. During that period, aliquots were colleted from the mineralization flasks to determine the monosaccharides concentration. The monosaccharides: arabinose, fucose, galactose and rhamnose were found. In recovering the story of education in rural environment, the research highlights the negligence with the education in this environment and the lack of research and intervention in Environmental Education turned into the population of the field, a marginalized and forgotten people, who is suffering the impacts of the Brazilian rural development model, generator of several economical, social and ecological problems. It aims to discuss the insertion of Environmental Education in school curriculums, and in reflecting about the main tendencies of it, rescues its story in gauche school. From the analysis of the main tendencies and approaches in teachers formation, it reports and discusses a research-action (comprehended as a strengthening of the action in the reflection and in the disruption of subject-object to subject-subject, as an incentive to participative autonomy of schooling group for a critical incorporation of Environmental Education in school curriculums), developed in four towns in the north region of the State of Rio Grande do Sul/ Brazil. The work developed with rural teachers reinforced a collective posture and stimulated teachers to make a profound study toward the comprehension of their own practice. The research, an instrument taken from the teachers hands, contributed for the formation of individuals capable to create a different rural world. This research made us to recognize some limitations of the research-action regarding its emancipatory attributes. We concluded that the fact teachers have formed a political conscience; starting to be more active and critical, not always make them autonomous, free to give their work the direction they wish. This thesis is just the beginning of a long debate, which deserves more attention by the people who work in the education field, recognizing it as an essence in the construction of any thought that might contribute for the humane development inserted in environmental contexts.Item type:Item, A conexão homem/camarão (Macrobrachium carcinus e M. acanthurus) no Baixo São Francisco alagoano: uma abordagem etnoecológica(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2002-12-11) ;Montenegro, Sineide Correia Silva ;Marques, José Geraldo Wanderley ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7962059488333070https://lattes.cnpq.br/9976712512779134The main objective of this research was to characterize and interpret the relationship of Man/shhmp in the lower São Francisco river in the state of Alagoas by means of studies about the ethnobioiogic and ethnoecologic knowledge of fishermen about "pitu" {Macrobrachium carcinus) and about "shrimp" (Aí. acanthurus) from the communities of Piranhas, Traipu and Penedinho. The fishing of "pitu" which occurs from the Piranhas till the mouth of the river, represents a good percentage of the income of fishermen from lower São Francisco river, specially of the fishermen from the municipality of Piranhas. In the same way, the fishing of "shrimp" (Aí. acanthurus) is also responsible for the revenue of many famiiies of fishermen from the municipalities of Traipu and Piaçabuçu, specially from Penedinho. In the last years, the shortage of these resources has brought a social problem, whose aggravation becomes a growing challenge to the construction of a future to the fishing in the region. To research the relationship of Man/shrimp in the lower São Francisco river in the state of Alagoas using ethnoecological as well as ecologic analysis, has at least two fundamental objectives: (a) to understand how the fishermen populations from "pitu" and "shrimp" are integrated in the informational netof the ecossystem; (b) integrate, by means of appreciation of their knowledge, the knowledge about classification, fishing and control, in searrch of alternatives for the management and environment planning. To integrate the knowledge of fisherment to those brought about by science, the analysis of these dada was directed by complex thoughts, whose essence is the integration of knowledges as a multidimensional and unseparable phenomenon at the same time. This way, the cultural data collected through the techniques used by social sciences (testimonies, oral statements) were integrated to the biological methods in an attempt to understand the processes of interaction which these communities of fishermen have with the environment. Chapter 4 deals with the ethnobiological knowledge with special attention in the identification of ecological criteria used in the classification of shrimps, beyond understanding their language and logic underlying the knowledge of the natural world. Chapter 5 discusses the fishing, the strategies and it's conective bases revealing how the fishermen populations connected in the past and connected nowadays with the vegetables, the minerais and with themselves. The construction of the hydroelectric power station of Xingó is affecting and transforming the territory of waters, and with this, the space of material and social reproduction and fishermen. To understand the re-organizing promoted by these transformations, chapter 6 shows how fishermen from "pitu" of Entremontes, occupy the fishing spaces, and discuss their territoriality, which may serve as aid for the implantation of a participative administration. As the barrages of the river directly affect the reproduction of species, Chapter 7 deals with reproductive strategis of "pitu" in areas nearby and distant from the barrage of Xingó incorporating hypothesis about the reproductive cycle of this specie, elaborated from the knowledge of fishermen of Piranhas. The oral history of fishermen allows us to know the cultural and biological changes brought about in the fishing in different times. Nevertheless, the process of implementing Conservation Units in the region is not keeping up with the rate of change in local land use. Among the strategies of non-governmental organizations to help in the conservation of the Una Biological Reserve (the largest forest fragment in the cocoa production region) is the creation of Private Nature Reserves. In the present work, the process of implementation of the Ecoparque do Una Private Nature Reserve was assessed. The Ecoparque do Una is a 383 ha area contiguous to the Una Biological Reserve (UBR), and is intended to be a model for sustainable development and natural resource utilization. The analysis of the social and economic relations between the Ecoparque and its neighboring properties indicated that both areas lack economic integration. However, employees at the Ecoparque are all native to the region, a situation that contributes for the Ecoparque to be more easily accepted by the local community. The number of visitors to the area is increasing monthly from 1998 to present, but the public is constituted typically by people coming from other regions. This limits the process of comprehension, by people from the cocoa production region, of the importance of the Ecoparque for conservation of natural resources. The cost of the entry ticket to the Ecoparque was pointed by tourism operators as the greatest barrier for marketing the Ecoparque as a product, restricting the aggregate value of tourism in the region. In spite not being yet an economically sustainable touristic product, because its expenditures are higher than the direct incomes from public visitation, this model of development is in process of becoming sustainable. All the environmental factors considered, the Ecoparque is meeting the requisites of a sustainable enterprise with social responsibility, environmental conservation and economic development.Item type:Item, Estrutura de comunidades de aves em áreas de cerrado da região nordeste do Estado de São Paulo(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2002-12-17) ;Almeida, Maria Elisa de Castro ;Pires, José Salatiel Rodrigueshttps://lattes.cnpq.br/3412204514901170Concerning that the cerrado region is one of the most threatened ecosystems and that the Ecological Station of Jataí shelters one of the greater remaining of this bioma in the northeast of São Paulo state, this work had two aims: characterize the structure of bird communities of the Jataí Ecological Station and surrounding area, as well as to create a geo-referenced database of local avifauna. Four areas within the city boundaries of Luiz Antônio (São Paulo) were studied: The Jataí Ecological Station and the Luiz Antônio Experimental Station (EEJ/EELA), Oitocentos Alqueires (OIT), a fragment of the Umuarama Farm (UMU) and a fragment of the Nossa Senhora da Aparecida Farm (NSA). The qualitative and quantitative survey resulted in the registration of 211 species at the EEJ/EELA, 55 species at the OIT, 41 at the UMU and 62 at the NSA. As far as species diversity, EEJ/EELA present an index of 3,81; the diversity index at OIT was found to be 3,31, and the index obtained at the fragments was 3,63 (UMU) e 3,45 (NSA). As for the abundance index (IPA), among the less abundant species found in the four areas, there are small frugivorous and nectarivorous represented mainly in the Thraupidae and Trochilidae families, as well as insetivorous represented by the Picidae and Dendrocolaptidae families. Despite the low density of these species, the presence of some frugivorous such as Penelope superciliaris and Trogon surrucura, possibly indicates that the study area is still relatively well conserved. Some species were deemed of Special Interest for Conservation (IECO); future studies were recommended on the population abundance and density, displacement, genetics and behavior. We underlined the need for monitoring and following these species over the years, by means of regular observations and annual population surveys. All information obtained through the surveys done in this research project was used to build the Geo-referenced Database Jataí-Aves (BD-JATAÍ-AVES). This tool enabled us to relate different species to their environments; determine which were the threatened species and those of Special Interest for Conservation; create maps to indicate areas where various species can be found; and define conservation of local bird fauna proposals. The BD-JATAÍ-AVES is an open repository, where new information on bird fauna of the researched areas can be progressively added, so as to enlarge the base, thus contributing to the establishment of criteria upon which to base decision-making in regional conservation management. A bibliographic research on the design of distance education courses, educational software design and instructional materials is accomplished. A method for the design and implementation of distance education courses in polymers is presented, which incorporates innovative elements in comparison with methods found in literature. The method presented offers a solution to deal with the complex task of instructional design in distance education. The identification of pedagogic models and effective practices for distance education courses in polymers was accomplished. The field research involved the needs assessment of professional education in polymers and the proposed method is implemented to illustrate its potential. Results indicate that the target audience will probably be technical level professionals. Investigation procedures were put in practice aimed to define conditions and parameters to build a course as it is proposed. It is treated to analyze the vertical integration process, that it occurs from the end of 80´s and that goes to provoke several changes in the interior of the citric network. The objective established here is to discuss the strategy of the companies, searching to understand what role is performed by the land, while it assumes not only the function of asset of capital, but of liquid asset too. Considering the characteristics of the land market in Brazil, that functions without restrictions and privileges who get more financial resources, and also that the land fulfills the function of value reserve, this analyze becomes important, as that vertical integration necessarily involves the land purchase. The hypothesis raised of that the land (while liquid active) fulfill influence in the enterprise strategy, mainly because it initiates in a period of economical instability, that favors the land purchase as a safe form to apply resources. At the same time, the institutional environment is favorable and the companies strategy does not find any type of restriction, formal or informal, in what refers to the lands purchase. The citrus complex is studied through the policy networks, the enterprises actions are looked through resouce-based perspective and dynamic capability and the institutional environment is used because is considered that the system regulation is important to define his dynamics. To the long of the work it is presented information that demonstrate the crisis of the orange producers and the process of exclusion what initiated after the changes of the 90 s, and that had beginning with the strategy of the industry in produce in self orchards. In the conclusion it is evidenced the importance of the land, wich convert in companies power resource, as well as the institutional environment importance in the decision of vertical integration for the processing concentrated orange juice companies.
