Production planning in automated manufacturing environments is a complex task which comprehends, among other activities, the production sequencing. One of the techniques used to determine the best production sequencing is the simulation. All possible sequences can be simulated and, right after that, the sequences with the best performance are verified, according to some criteria. However, due to the combinatory nature of the sequencing, the simulation of all possible combinations takes long time, becoming quite impracticable in many cases. Besides, events that were not programmed occur frequently in automated manufacturing environments and the decision maker must be fast choosing alternatives. Aiming to contour this problem, this work proposes a fuzzy analyser of sceneries for the production sequencing (ANCSP). The goal is to reduce the quantity of sequences to be simulated by the decision maker when non programmed events occur in the productive system, according to a defined performance criteria. The maximum quantity of generated sequences is calculated based on the time avaliable to realize the simulation. The proposed model intends to support the usage of the simulation technique by the decision makers. The ANCSP was implemented and various tests were performed. A specific model of flexible manufacturing system was considered to perform the tests. The performance of the ANCSP was analyzed comparing its results with those presented by a simulation software, for the same test sets and in accordance to the performance measures established.

AMGra: uma abordagem para migração gradativa de aplicações legadas
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2005-05-31) Fontanette, Valdirene; Prado, Antonio Francisco do; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2668568143800755
Along the time the applications usually need to evolve to catch up with and to assist to the new technologies that appear or get mature in the different computing areas, as it happens, for instance, with the programming languages. Starting from that demand, new researches are being accomplished to offer support to this development. This situation was improved with the ripening of Web technologies, once the need of the company nowadays is not always to convert an application totally, but to adapt these applications to accommodate these new technologies. The modernization of old applications, denominated legacy applications, is an arduous and a high cost task for the companies. Although there are several approaches that support this process in the literature, there is still a lack of resources that offer flexibility, take advantage of previous investments of the companies and get practical results. This way, the modernization process in the companies is almost always accomplished in a manual and "ad-hoc" form. Based on these ideas, this work presents AMGraA, an approach for gradual modernization of legacy applications, reconstructing them to attend to new technologies that came out along the time. This research project resulted of a partnership among GOES (Group of Software Engineering), a software development company, and FAPESP in support to the research and the development in the small companies.

3D Collaborative Virtual Environments (CVE) applications have been impelled mainly by the computer games industry, military and industrial training and product design development. However, most of the existing systems are focused on specific tasks and have a supporting structure, which is closely tight to the application. As a consequence, a change in the application usually means a change in the supporting structure too, making it difficult and expensive to develop new or to extend existing CVEs. This work presents a novel approach to building and extending CVEs through the integration of interactive non-linear stories and Virtual Reality. With this approach, CVEs applications are composed as non-linear stories which can be changed either completely or partly, making it easier for developers to build and/or extend CVEs applications, such as highly dynamic marketing campaigns to 3D virtual shops, customized training courses, educational and entertainment games, etc. To allow the description of the CVE through interactive non-linear stories was developed a description language based on XML, named VEML. The use of a VEML for building a CVE application can facilitate the communication among the different professionals involved in the building of complex VE applications.
