The present work aimed to analyze the educational politics implemented for the overcoming of the illiteracy in the Primary Education, in its modality of attending young people and adults, starting from the 1990s. Our central objective was to understand how these programs were delimited facing the direction of the publicization of the social services and the directions from the reforms implemented in Brazil in the 1990s. We took as empirical basis for our study the actions developed in the city of Araraquara in the period from 2001 to 2006, emphasizing the partnership between the City Department of Education and a philantropic entity. We intended to understand how the promotion of partnerships between the public power and the not-state entities can be considered as a factor of excellency for a wider administrative rationality, based in the principles of the effectiveness, efficiency and effectivity of the services offered to the citizens, or whether the partnerships carried through with these institutions affirm the principles of a political culture based on the boundaries of the patrimonialism and the clientelism, structural marks in the formation of the Brazilian State.

This work departed from the finding that the changes occurred in the industrial competitive scenario are in conformity with the unfavorable conditions recognized for the use of the kanban system and that, due to this, the use of this well-known Systems for Coordination of Purchase and Production Orders (SCO) needs to be reviewed. Following, this research aims to evaluate the evolution of the utilization of the kanban system and study the adaptations made in its logic work to adjust it in face to the new conditions, and to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of these adaptations. First of all, literature reviews regarding kanban system were made, and thirty three different adaptations were studied, classified and analyzed. It was found that, among other topics, the development of the adapted systems, in general, is in an initial stage, once the majority of the proposals are theoretical and might be considered to generate more appropriated practical forms. Afterwards, field research was realized, by means of a survey and case researches. In the survey, it was selected a non-probabilistic sample of thirty companies from São Paulo State that were implementing the kanban system in the beginning of the 90 s. It were identified 18 adaptations in practice in São Paulo State, however only 5 were analysed in the case studies. Among the 18 adaptations, 7 follow the logic of the original system and 11 do not. Thereby, it was proposed a procedure to evaluate the use of the kanban system in that industrial companies by means of the original work characteristics, production environment conditions and advantages of the system. The five adaptations analysed in the case studies have, as the main change, the utilization of only one type of signal or card. It was also concluded, by the use of the procedure, that the companies that use adaptations of the kanban system miss (in larger or smaller degree, depending on the adaptation) the following advantages: efficient production control; facility of problem causes identification; decrease of work in process; decrease of the lead-times; decrease of the waste; empowerment; simplicity of the administration mechanisms and efficient information control.

Euglossine bees are important pollinators of many Neotropical plant species, particularly orchids which could present a species-specific bee-flower relationship, essential to the reproductive success of these plants. Orchids produce chemical compounds to attract males of Euglossine bees (the effective pollinators of the orchids), and these compounds were isolated and are being used to study the biology of the euglossine males. Allozymes markers, although their low polymorphism content, were widely applied in population analyses. In order to provide a powerful tool to be applied to nest and population genetics research, primers flanking microsatellite loci were developed for Eulaema nigrita and Euglossa cordata (13 loci each). The use of these markers in 483 euglossine males of Euglossa, Eufriesea, Eulaema and Exaerete species, sampled in several Brazilian biomes and areas, evidenced the presence of only two diploid males, one in Euglossa annectans and other in Euglossa mandibularis. These findings support the hypothesis that diploid males (usually unviable or sterile individuals) occur in low frequencies in Brazilian Euglossine bee populations, a fact that is according to previous studies using allozymes. The application of these markers to nest structure analyses revealed nest sharing among unrelated females of Eulaema nigrita (eight nests). For Euglossa cordata and Euglossa townsendi nests (11 and seven nests, respectively), analysis demonstrated that monogamy (one female mated with a single male) is the rule, although nest sharing among unrelated females could also occur in E. townsendi. These results give a new focus on the research about population genetics and nest sociogenetic structure of Euglossine bees, opening new insights on the Euglossini biology and genetics.

A series of methods and techniques has gained prominence in the organizations that possess a standard of system for development of products - SDP in the conceptual phase of the project, as well as in redesign when necessary. The QFD, the Analysis of Kano and the Pugh Matrix are some examples of methods and used techniques to integrate methods in project. However, if one of the characteristics of methodology DFA is to reduce the number of assembly operations reducing the number of components and make the assembly operations easier to perform, this methodology can be applied in ergonomics, since it assists the design activity of work situations, specially in the stage of generation of alternatives and analysis of feasibilities for the simplification of the structure of the product. This way, the main contribution of this research is to demonstrate that the use of the Design for Assembly tool can be extended in situations of redesign of products for attainment of technical solutions in the situations of ergonomic interventions, or even though in the conceptual phase of a new project, where the ergonomics will be considered inside of vision DFA. The accomplishment of the Workplace Ergonomic Analysis - WEA associated with the use of the design for assembly - DFA tool for technical solutions in ergonomic interventions can be a possibility for design teams that are looking for associate design and ergonomics.

Common sense and learning. How can this kind of knowledge, which refers to the knowledge shared by the majority of people who are inserted into the same social and cultural context, support teachers to plan learning activities which fit to pedagogical issues, important to an effective learning? How can computational technologies make viable the use of this kind of knowledge by teachers, supporting them to make decisions during the planning of tasks of a specific learning activity? This research answers these questions (i) evaluating how common sense knowledge is related to Learning Theories, proposed by Paulo Freire, Célestin Freinet, David Ausubel and Robert Gagné, authors who are renowned in the pedagogical area; (ii) exploring how computational technologies can be used to collect and present this kind of knowledge to teachers; (iii) suggesting ways to teachers use it, in order to reach pedagogical issues; and (iv) showing the use of a framework to plan learning activity, considering the suggestions of using common sense to plan learning activities, made in this research. The suggestions can be summarized in supporting teachers: (a) to decide the detail level of the learning activity topics, based on the knowledge that the target group demonstrates to have well formalized, as well as on the misunderstandings that it makes about other topics, and on the information that it forgets to mention in the knowledge base; (b) to identify topics of general interest to be taught; (c) to identify a common vocabulary used by the target group; and (d) to support the use of cognitive operators. For this purpose, it is used computational resources, developed in the context of Artificial Intelligence researches, to plan a learning activity in the in the health domain, specifically in the domain of home caring a sick person. Teachers from the Nursing Department of the Federal University of São Carlos use these resources to plan a learning activity, taking into account the common sense knowledge acquired from the Brazilian population, stored in the knowledge base of the Brazilian Open Mind Common Sense Project, developed by the Advanced Interaction Laboratory from the Computer Department of the same University in partnership with the Media Laboratory of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The learning activity main goal is to prepare Nursing learners to interact with the population, from which the knowledge was acquired, orienting people from that population about the procedures that might be taken, in order to home care a sick person. The results obtained are critically analyzed and they point to the validity of the suggestions of using common sense to plan learning activities made in this research

Methyl parathion (MP) is an organophosphorus insecticide used worldwide in agriculture and aquaculture due to its high activity against a broad spectrum of insect pests. In a first phase of the study, specimens of matrinxã (Brycon cephalus) were exposed to a sublethal concentration (2 mg.L-1, 1/3 of the 96h-LC50) of MP (Folisuper 600®, MP 600 g.L-1) for 96h, and their heart rate (fH), oxygen consumption ( 2 O V& ), gill ventilation ( G V& ), and oxygen extraction (EO2) were measured, during normoxia and in response to graded hypoxia. The fish developed a significant bradycardia during moderate hypoxia, which was higher for the MP exposed group. 2 O V& was kept constant over a wide range of O2 tensions of inspired water (PiO2), until he critical oxygen tensions (PcO2), 35 mmHg for control group and 52 mmHg for the MP exposed group, respectively, were achieved. G V& increased following the changes in 2 O V& and was the result of an accentuated increase in breath volume, rather than in breath frequency. Oxygen extraction was kept almost constant at about 56% for both experimental groups, regardless of ambient oxygen tensions or MP exposure. We used an isometric muscle preparation to test the effect of a single 96h MP exposure to 2 mg.L-1 of MP on the heart excitation-contraction coupling of B. cephalus. Ryanodine (a blocker of sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ release) reduced the force of contraction by approximately 70% in B. cephalus ventricle, suggesting that this species utilizes the intracellular Ca2+ storages of the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) during routine contractions. MP exposure resulted in a significant decrease in force development and an increase in the time to half relaxation (THR), providing evidences of the effect of MP on intracellular Ca2+ stores. Cardio-respiratory responses to MP can be attributed to damage caused to the gill epithelium, which results in impaired gas exchange. Effects of MP exposure to the ventricular myocardium correspond to the SR Ca2+ storages impairment and to cholinesterase inhibition in nerves supplying the heart.

The present thesis of Doctoral study is the resulted of research under the Post Graduation Programme of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) titling Constructing Educative Ways for Interpretation of the Pantanal s Environment . It reflects the research carried out about a pedagogical filter of the environmental education, with images of the Pantanal s ecology to interpret natural and cultural dimensions in two communities: Mimoso, São Pedro de Joselândia and other places located in the municipalities of Santo Antonio of the Leverger, Poconé and Barão de Melgaço, in Mato Grosso Sate, where we face many sort of environmental impacts and problems to protect the large wetland, in its broad meaning of nature and society. The presented results represent an effort of Environmental Education Group Researcher (GPEA) of Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT), which is built by many researchers from multidisciplinary approaches for understanding the ecological and cultural diversities of these two communities. The results reveal the fragile meaning of sustainable development, since we realised it is far from its implementation, especially that related to education dimension which claims for sustainable societies. The studies reflect new image s ways (photos), considering the aesthetic sensitivity as an important tool to promote a responsible and ethical look for the environment. The image s discourse of the investigated groups discloses lack of critical awareness in relation to the linked dimensions between human being, society and nature. In a similar way, it is observed that aesthetic of the image s discourse is suffering by lack of care in terms of ethical; poetical; management or policy to built the concept of development and its sustainability. The research was conducted by environmental education principles, considering the ethno knowledge of Pantanal s communities, for interpreting and perceiving the ecological space and social dimension of the wetland of their habitants

In this present work, we have carried out some calculations of electron-radicals scattering cross sections in the lowjintermediate energy range. Differential, integral, momentum transfer, total and total of absorption cross sections were calculated for the electron-SiF j SiF2 scattering in the energy range between 1,0-1000 eV. The dynamics of electron-molecule interaction is described by a complex optical potential formed by static, exchange, correlation-polarization and absorption contributions. The Schwinger variational iterative method combined with distorted-wave approximation is applied to calculate the scattering amplitudes. Some of the results presented here are compareci with the experimental andj or theoretical results available in the literature.

Osteoporosis is attributed to an imbalance between bone formation and resorption, followed by bone mass loss and microarchitectural deterioration, leading to increased bone fragility and fracture risk. Nitric oxide (NO) is a signaling molecule with important regulatory effects on bone cell function. Nitric oxide donor nitroglycerin has been reported to alleviate ovariectomy-induced and corticosteroid-induced bone loss. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of NO on cancellous and cortical bone of orchiectomized rats. A total of 98 male Wistar rats (four months old) were randomly divided in the following groups - Experiment I: intact treated with saline (stomacal gavage - gv), orchiectomized treated with saline (gv), and orchiectomized treated with NO donor isosorbide dinitrate - ISDN (gv); Experiment II: intact treated with saline (subcutaneous injection - sc), orchiectomized treated with saline (sc), and orchiectomized treated with NO synthase inhibitor NG-nitro-L-arginine-methylester - L-NAME (sc); Experiment III: intact treated with saline (intraperitoneous injection - ip), orchiectomized treated with saline (ip), and orchiectomized treated with NO precursor L-arginine (ip); Basal group: one group was killed at the beginning of the study (four months old) and served as a baseline group. The animals were killed after 8 weeks of treatment. At death, both femurs and lumbar vertebrae (L5-6) were obtained from each rat, and changes in both cancellous and cortical bone mass and biomechanical competence were assessed. The treatment with NO donor isosorbide dinitrate protected the cortical bone mass of adult rats from the deleterious effects of castration. The protective effect of ISDN treatment on the cancellous bone mass was not as significant as the one observed on the cortical bone. The L-NAME treatment did not increase the deleterious effects induced by orchiectomy in both cancellous and cortical bone mass. No effect was observed with the L-arginine treatment, in the dose used in this study. In conclusion, this study suggest that NO donor isosorbide dinitrate can be used in the future as an alternative pharmacological strategy for the prevention of androgen deficiency osteoporosis, in men with proven hypogonadism and in eugonadal men.

This work was carried out in three different areas of Universidade Federal de São Carlos. We studied the Geometridae associated to Rapanea umbellata (Mart.) Mez, 1902 (Myrsinaceae). The samples were collected at each two weeks, during the period of October of 2005 to april of 2007. It was used the method of entomological umbrella. The larvae were grown in the laboratory, using the host plant as food. Rapanea umbellata had the first register as plant hostess of Geometridae in the present study. It occured 14 species of Geometridae arranged in 11 genus, seven genus of Hymenoptera Parasitica and one Diptera. The common species that occured was Phrygionis polita (Cramer, 1780), whose relative abundance was 48,9%. Other Geometridae recordered were: P. paradoxata (Guenée, [1858]), Argyrotome melae (Druce, 1892), Opisthoxia sp. Hübner, [1825], Pero refellaria (Guenée, [1858]), Glena bipennaria (Guenée, [1858]), G. unipennaria (Guenée, [1858]), Hymenomima amberia (Schaus, 1901), Iridopsis chalcea (Obertür, 1883), Ischnopteris miseliata (Guenée, [1858]), Patalene Herrich-Schäffer, [1854], Oxydia apidania (Cramer, [1779]), O. vesulia (Cramer, [1779]), Prochoerodes tetragonata (Guenée, [1958]). The Hymenoptera parasitoids were: Euplectrus Nestwood, 1832 (Eulophidae), Charops Homgren, 1859 (Ichneumonidae), Hyposoter Foerster, 1869 (Ichneumonidae), Mesochorus Gravenhorst, 1829 (Ichneumonidae), Diolcogaster Asmed, 1900 (Braconidae), Hymenochaonia Dalla Torre, 1898 (Braconidae), Glyptapanteles Ashmed, 1905 (Braconidae). The density of larvae shows two peaks, one at the dry season and one at the raining season. In the same time occurs the smaller percentage of parasitism. The cycle of development of Phrygionis polita was studied, being the first description of the immature stages of a species of the Palyadini tribe.

Alternative methods were developed for some determinations performed in routine by animal nutrition laboratories, in order to increase laboratory efficiency and reduce costs maintaining analytical quality. In the first step, a multicomutation point to point potentiometric titration system to total acid in silage extracts with the use of a PVC (tridodecilamine) membrane electrode is described. The multicommutation developed system employed three solenoid valves for solution management and a peristaltic pump for the fluid propulsion. The time and sequence of switching valves, the velocity of peristaltic pump and the data acquisition were performed through a developed program in the Labview® platform using a computer with an electronic interface. Silage samples of Brachiaria grass, sugar cane and corn were analyzed by the proposed system in order to method validation. The results indicated agreement in order of 95% of confidence when were compared with the ones obtained by gas chromatography (acetic, propyonic and butyric acids), and liquid (lactic acid), and by bath titration. In a second step, an alternative method for determination of neutral detergent fiber in forage samples was proposed, with the use of the nylon bag technology to samples storage, and a semi-pressure system heating by microwave radiation. This analyze consists of a cellular inner components solubilization in neutral detergent solution, remaining the neutral detergent fiber, basically formed by cellulose, hemicelluloses, lignin, lignin protein and silica, gravimetrically determined after oven drying. The method was validated from samples analysis supplied by the Ensaio de Proficiência de Laboratórios de Nutrição Animal , coordinate by Embrapa Cattle-Southeast. High correlation was obtained among the results obtained with the proposed method and furnace by the program, therefore its employment could be recommended.

In this work we considered four types of models for count data: the Poisson model, the Negative Binomial Model and variations of these models for count inflated of zeros (ZIP and ZINB). Information on the number of put eggs for the mosquito aedes in the city of São José of Rio Preto, SP, was analyzed through models for counting data. The number of eggs of the mosquito aedes is studied firstly without the covariable and through some tests, it was verified that models zero inflated (ZIP and ZINB) are more adapted to analyze the data under study. The ZIP model was shown inadequate, due to overdispersion generated by the variability of the data. The ZINB model, was shown more flexible to the data as it is shown graphically.

This work integrates the research line Social Practices and Educational Processes that includes the education as a wide process, not restricted to the school world. Claiming such comprehension was of fundamental importance to this research, once it searched understand the richness of the human beings existential experiences, inserting the most different social practices. Paulo Freire, one of the main references of the research line and the main of this work, attributed to experience a great educational potential, being the place of construction of the knowledge of the done experience . Approaching the theme meant dealing with questions that require an attentive look, given the disqualification done in the modern societies of the experiences of certain individuals, groups and nations. That s why it s necessary to recognize the need of showing the worth of the knowledge along that was unfairly marginalized. This study is not about despising school education role due to the fact education is understandable as a wide process, but to reflect about its function and the possibility of relation with the existential experience of the learners. The research is dedicated to the investigation of the relation between experiences concepts and education in Paulo Freire s works, having as objectives identify in the author s documents such concepts and the relation between them, as well as verify the world reading learners of Youngsters and Adults Education have about such constructed concepts in a experienced way. So it was carried out a review of the authors works that helped in the comprehension of their thought. Besides, I inserted myself and participated, while researcher, in Youngsters and Adults Education (EJA), term II, equivalent to 3º and 4º grade of fundamental teaching in order to enlarge the comprehension of concepts adding also the book reading to the existential source during three months, I inserted myself in a Youngsters and Adults Education classroom, participating in twenty two meetings writing a field, as well as, carrying out interviews with five learners and a forum video of techniques collection that belong to Communicative Investigation Methodology. From these procedures on, the participants world readings could be revealed to me about experience, education and school education leading me to understand better such concepts in the Paulo Freire s works, as well as, the relation between them. The knowledge of the done experience showed me in the study as a synthesis of the meeting between experience and education, demanding, however, dialogue for the construction of a comprehension criticism about the reality. Therefore, we understand the main contribution of the present work for Education, Teaching Methodology and Youngsters and Adults Education is the statement of the respect to mistakenly link between experience and the women and men, adults and youngsters education get involved without forgetting the intention and the dialogue that are fundamental to become criticism and independent.

This work deals on the identification and quantification of pointers of project of buildings in structural masonry. Several projects of different types are analyzed from which each material is quantified relative to the characteristics of each construction. Project pointers were then assessed. The calculated pointers can propitiate the identification of factors of the construction and criteria of project that contribute for the rise or the reduction in the consumption of materials. The pointers can represent important tool for the designer engineer, as they can serve as reference values for gauging projects in development. Additionally, the consumption pointers also are important for the planning and budget of new enterprises. It is believed that several aspects of this research had been very few referenced before, such as the case of consume rate of steel and concrete in transition structures, the consume of different block types in relation to the floor area, the average floor load, the steel rate in structural masonry, among others

This dissertation deals with the use of fiberglass as a concrete addition, in order to improve its mechanical properties such as better crack distribution, or as polymer reinforcement, in order to form a composite to be externally or internally used as reinforcement to other material as concrete or masonry or to use itself as a structural member. The literature review presented is believed to achieve the current state-of-art of the fiberglass use in civil construction applications. Next, usual approaches to dimensioning structural members in GFRP are presented. Construction systems and processes using this material are assessed focused to civil construction. Themes as the technology spread up, Brazilian applications and eventual difficulties are focused. With this research one expects to approach the text to the state-of-art up today.

Materials in general as well as specialized articles with a lot of semiofficial estimation have indicated high increase in the use of management consultancy particularly during the post-war period of the sixties decade. Numerous authors have linked this increase to the growth in markets and technology complexities. However, in addition to consultancy firms, it has also appeared in the economic arena, consultants cooperatives of business enterprises as a new working arrangement occupying nearly the same space available in large and medium-sized firms. As a result, an interest in developing this study has surged as basis for bibliographical research based upon documentation as well as interviews with some members of such cooperatives aiming at analyzing a better understanding of what has motivated the appearance and development of such consultants cooperatives as well as the understanding of such cooperatives importance on the present economic arena. A certain cooperative located in the city of Belo Horizonte at Minas Gerais was the subject of such study. This cooperative set up its activities in 1994 and, today, comprises more than 1200 members.
