listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Educação, qualidade de vida e doença de Alzheimer : visões de idosos e seus familiares(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2008-01-31) Inouye, Keika; Pedrazzani, Elisete Silva; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7558935747100052The purpose of the present was to identify perception differences regarding the quality of life (QL) of a group of aged patients with Alzheimer Disease (AD) and their family caregivers compared to groups who do not have the disease; and, consequently, identify the QL dimensions that merit more attention in psychoeducational intervention problems according to their perspective. The participants were subjects with 60 years of age or more, with no serious language disorders and who had been diagnosed with AD according to the current criteria in the Brazilian legislation, their respective family caregivers and people with equivalent age, gender, and home address. The participants were divided into four groups: GAD: aged individuals with AD (n=53); GADC: elderly without AD (n=53); GCARE: family caregivers (n=53); and GCAREC: non-caregivers (n=53). The instruments used for data collection were: Participant Characteristics Form; Interview Script; Brazil Criteria Questionnaire; and Evaluation Scale for Quality of Life in Alzheimer s Disease (QoL-AD). The obtained data were typed into a databank using the Statistical Program for Social Sciences for Windows 10.0 for statistical analyses (Student s t-test, and Pearson s Chi-square for matched group analyses; Wicoxon, Mann-Whitney, and Spearman Correlation for objectives). The results showed that: (a) the socio-demographic profile of the sample of aged patients with AD is predominantly women, married, with children, illiterate or with incomplete elementary school, from classes C or D , do not exercise, and have no access to alternative health services like occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and psychological treatment; (b) in general, the family caregiver dedicates him or herself full-time to looking after the patient; they are women, wives or daughters, from classes C or D , who find their strongest encouragement regarding QL in sharing the tasks of looking after the patient, in religious groups, or exercising; (c) there are significant differences between the total QL score of aged patients with AD and their family caregivers compared to equivalent samples; (d) there is a correlation between the general QL perception of the aged patient with AD and his or her family caregiver (r=0.406); (e) the general scores obtained by the QoL-AD in the family version about the elderly are not statistically different from those in the version of the aged patient, however the dimensions memory and you in general presented statistically significant differences; (f) the QL dimensions perceived with more negativism and, which, therefore, merit attention in the intervention programs are: for family caregivers: physical health, disposition, mood, memory, you in general, and the ability to take part in leisure activities; and for the elderly patients with AD: physical health, disposition, mood, housing, memory, family, marriage, friends, you in general, the ability to perform chores and take part in leisure activities, money, and life in general. The study findings contribute in making the patient and caregiver education be grounded on their own views, preparing them to cope with dignity the constant changes that time and the environment pose on their bodies, histories, and skills and abilities. Through joint efforts, we can develop interventions to guarantee that negative values and stereotypes associated with AD be assigned new meanings.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Desenvolvimento de célula hidrotérmica para obtenção de compostos nanocristalinos de alta pureza(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2008-01-31) Barrado, Cristiano Morita; Leite, Edson Roberto; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1025598529469393; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1481467844050222Due to the growing advances obtained in nanomaterials science, almost all technological sectors have invested in nanotechnology. It is expected technological improvements in a wide range of products, from the most conventional to nanostructured, as nanocomposites and nanoelectronics materials. Several techniques have been proposed in the literature aiming the search of these materials in a high purity grade. However, some problems to this goal persist, as the use of reactants with impurities of hard elimination and difficulties in the crystallization process, implying in a poor particle growth control. The hydrothermal synthesis has a great advantage for using few steps during the synthesis process and lower temperatures of prodution. Despite the advantages in the process, the cost of commercial equipments not adequated to this synthesis is around US$ 10,000.00 to 20,000.00, expensive values to Brazilian conditions. Also, there is not a brazilian equipment with adequate control and manipulability so far. These facts impair the dissemination of the processing technique. In this way, the main goal of this project is the construction of a hydrothermal system using brazilian materials and its application to the OPM-Hydrothermal hybrid synthesis to obtain technological materials. The association of the techniques enabled the union of the main features of each method leading to a high purity and high crystalline product, in soft solution condition in which the amorphous precipitate obtained by the chemically clean route OPM was crystallized in a soft process (hydrothermal), avoiding calcination. Crystalline phases of TiO2 were obtained at 200oC / 2 hours as rutile nanorods (pH = 0) and anatase from nanoparticles (pH = 2 to 8) to nanorods (pH = 10) and nanoneedles (pH = 12). Pure crystalline PbTiO3 and Pb(Zr50Ti50)O3 were obtained with cubic structure at 150 and 200oC / 2 hours, depending on the Pb stoichiometry adopted.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Ocorrência de agravos músculo - esqueléticos em áreas públicas de lazer : a experiência da pista de saúde da Universidade Federal de São Carlos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2008-01-31) Simões, Nelcy Vera Nunes; Oishi, Jorge; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1417328590472858; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8537548846976080This study objectives were to characterize and identify the occurrence of muscle skeletical injury on physical activity praticers that make use of the Health Track at the Federal University of São Carlos (HT/UFSCar). The study was a nonprobabilistic descriptive observation sample of individuals who makes use of the HT/UFSCar. There were 376 subjects 220 male and 156 female, between 11 and 82 years old. The data was collected during six consecutive months. The statistic work included as much variables of descriptive analyses as the study of their possible association and then applied to the parametric test Qui-square of Pearson. The results showed that from the 376 subjects, 126 (33,51%) subjects suffered injuries during the observation while 250 (66,49%) did not. It was also verified that variables such as : Frequency, Intensity, Duration, Physical Activity, Gender, Body Mass, School Degree and Social Class are significantly associate to the incidence of injuries to the public users at the HT/UFSCar. Still, the men practiced more physical activities and suffered more injuries than the women. Conclusion: The association between the investigated variables (overweight, number of turns at the track, social class and the frequency at the HT/UFSCar - over 5 times per week) and the type of PA practiced were significant to injuries occurred (57.48%) during the development of this study.
