listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Efeitos da ventilação mecânica não-invasiva na variabilidade da freqüência cardíaca e no padrão ventilatório de pacientes submetidos à cirurgia de revascularização do miocárdio(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2009-06-26) Pantoni, Camila Bianca Falasco; Silva, Audrey Borghi; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4855616925791895; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0244296301167548Noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV) has been commonly applied in several clinical and postoperative conditions, especially after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery and it can cause breathing pattern (BP) alterations and mechanical effects on cardiovascular system, with cardiac autonomic adjustments. However, it is not well established in the literature how these alterations occur in patients submitted to the CABG and if they can be related to the application of different positive airway pressure levels. In this context, we considered the development of two studies that could contribute with new information about these topics. The first study is entitled Acute application of bilevel positive airway pressure influence cardiac autonomic nervous system and its objective was to evaluate the changes in heart rate variability (HRV) during bilevel positive airway pressure (Bilevel) application in healthy young men. Twenty men underwent a 10-min register of R-R intervals (R-Ri) during sham ventilation, Bilevel 8-15cmH2O and Bilevel 13-20 cmH2O. HRV was analyzed in time and frequency-domain and with non-linear statistical measures. Physiological variables (blood pressure, breathing rate, end tidal carbon dioxide- ETCO2) were also collected. R-Ri mean, rMSSD, NN50, pNN50 and SD1 reduced during 13-20 cmH2O compared to sham ventilation, with reduction of the R-Ri mean compared to 8-15 cmH2O. R-Ri mean and high frequency band (HF) reduced and low frequency band (LF) increased during 8-15 cmH2O compared to sham ventilation. Delta of ETCO2 correlated positively with LF, HF, LF/HF, SDNN, rMSSD and SD1. In conclusion, acute application of Bilevel was able to alter cardiac autonomic nervous system, with parasympathetic activity reduction and sympathetic increase and higher level of positive airway pressure can cause a greater influence on the cardiovascular and respiratory system. The second study is entitled The effects of different levels of positive airway pressure on respiratory pattern and heart rate variability in patients submitted to coronary artery bypass grafting surgery and its objective was to access the effects of different levels of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) in BP and HRV in CABG postoperative (PO), as well as the impact of CABG in these variables. Eighteen patients underwent CABG was evaluated during spontaneous breathing (SB) and four different CPAP levels of CPAP, in a random order: (a) CPAP = sham (3 cmH2O), (b) 5 CPAP = cmH2O, (c) 8 CPAP= cmH2O, (d) 12 CPAP = cmH2O in PO. HRV was analysed in time and frequency domain and by non-linear methods (Poincaré plot e Detrended Fluctuation Analysis) and BP was analysed by inductive respiratory plethysmograph. There were significant alterations of HRV and BP in the PO of CRM, compared to pre-operative and alterations of DFAα1, DFAα2 e SD2 and respiratory variables during NIPPV, with higher influence observed during application of the two higher levels applied. Moreover, there was relationship between DFAα1 and inspiratory time of delta 12 cmH2O and SB, and 8 cmH2O and SB. In conclusion, acute CPAP application was able to alter the control of cardiac autonomic nervous system and BP of patients submitted to CABG and higher levels promoted better performance of pulmonary and cardiac autonomic function.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Valoração contigente de um projeto de recuperação de qualidade das águas - o caso do córrego Limoeiro em Presidente Prudente, SP(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2009-06-26) Pontes, Márcio Rogério; Salvador, Nemésio Neves Batista; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9930582531600560; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9014098108599003The purpose of this work is to evaluate, according to the population s perception, the benefit to the environment by treating the sanitary sewers flowing into the Limoeiro stream located in Presidente Prudente, in the state of Sao Paulo. It is sometimes difficult to place a value on natural resources and this research attempts to develop a method to place a value to this particular natural resources, the Limoeiro stream. By making it possible to have a base of common comparison, the financial value, provides a justification for investments in environment conservation projects. With this objective, the contingent valuation method was used to evaluate the natural resource which investigated the disposition of the population to pay for this process in two types of scenarios. In the first scenario, which presents the legal view of the conservation, determined that it would be R$ 5,12 with 95% of entrust and a plus or minus 10% margin of error. In the second scenario, which presents the ideal view of the water course conservation would be R$ 7,35 also showing a 95% entrust and a plus or minus 10% margin of error. A period of 30 years was stipulated and the global liquid present value between R$ 9.126.914,16 to R$ 16.011.288,26 with a discount tax of 12% of the capital.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, A educação pelo castigo, na perspectiva da religião católica e do direito penal(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2009-06-26) Gentil, Plínio Antônio Britto; Tagliavini, João Virgílio; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8442080379349434This is a search on the Catholic religious order and the legal system represented by the criminal law, showing how, according to its regulatory structures, subject to mechanicalrelated offense and the punishment. It is shown how, through a language that uses symbols of both the Church and the State seek to make individuals internalize the values and standards of conduct, to lead them to a range of desirable behavior. The internalization of the feeling of guilt and will be punished eventually integrating this universe of values and modeling behaviors. Thus, a control system based on the prospect of punishment, and before that, in the formation of consciences, has an important social role and falls in a real educational process. This is an education geared towards the stabilization of patterns institutionalized, in tune with the current model of economic development. The symbolic interactionism highlights the intense use of symbolism in the formation and communication of these standards. The perspective of historical materialism shows that the stage of organization of productive forces is a fundamental element that ideology and thus determines the evolution of mechanisms of sedimentation and its control. The criminal law as well as other rights, here treated as the legal system in force, plays the dominant ideology and draws upon models of transgressions and sanctions, the limits of human conduct and, consequently, the way forward. The Catholic religious order also taken as a normative structure called the Roman Church, seeks to establish a line of procedure which lead to the salvation of the individual. She goes down a path whose bases can often be explained historically, but the search for redemption in a virtual world means that its postulates are situated in a plane that transcends life itself. The acceptance of religious dogmas usually occurs before the law. The rich symbolism employed in its communication to humans contributes to the insertion depth of their culture and values in developing a sense of guilt before the fear of punishment by the state power, before it has also collaborated with him. Church and state, thus moving together in the formation of desirable standards of conduct. With a broadening of horizons of the religious order and the legal as well as formal education, it seems, however, possible to mark positions in a counterhegemonic history, which tends to expand the boundaries of the emancipation of the individual.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Formação do campo policial na "Princesa do Oeste": relações de poder e conflitos cotidianos entre elites, populares e a Polícia de São Carlos, 1888 - 1914(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2009-06-26) Furlas, Héllen Aparecida; Truzzi, Oswaldo Mário Serra; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5005536921435787; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5115031712822693The objective of this research is to analyse the formation of the policing field between the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century, utilizing as a base a case study of the police and policing in the city of São Carlos (do Pinhal) between 1888 and 1914. The present research has three basic objectives: to study the social relationships between the police and the local elite of this city; to understand the relationships between the Civil Police and the Public Force in that locality; and to investigate the nature of everyday relationships between the police and the population (immigrants and poor Brasilians) in the this city and period through the analysis of police inquests, criminal trial records and police correspondence, in addition to the analysis of local almanacs.
