Item type:Item, O uso de B4C como aditivo de sinterização de SiC-Si3N4 visando o aumento da resistência à oxidação(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-04) ;Martin, Diego Rodrigues ;Baldo, João Baptista ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2410385643716370https://lattes.cnpq.br/0088252805450209In order to fulfill modern market requirements based on increased search for SiC Si3N4 products with high performance and good cost/benefit ratio, there is a natural need for additives able to sinter as well as decrease the inherent oxidation tendency of this products. Refractories based on SiC Si3N4 present several important thermal and mechanical properties at high temperatures which lead them to be used as sagars and overall furnace furniture. However carbides and nitrides including SiC Si3N4 are instable at high temperatures in air. The formation of a surface silica layer and other intergranulary distributed silicates, may function as oxidation protection. However, at the same time at high temperatures the thermal and mechanical properties can be badly affected. Based on these assumptions in this work it is presented a study involving the effect of boron carbide as a sintering and antioxidant protector on SiC Si3N4 used mainly kiln furniture. The results indicate that the use of boron carbide was very effective on fulfilling both requirements that is as sintering additive and anti oxidant.Item type:Item, Experiências de Ensino e Aprendizagem : estratégia para a formação online de professores iniciantes no Programa de Mentoria da UFSCar(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-05) ;Pieri, Glaciele dos Santos de ;Tancredi, Regina Maria Simões Puccinellihttps://lattes.cnpq.br/4054330442233391This research investigated three teachers learning in their beginning of career at the first years of elementary school and an expert teacher the mastermind who have taken part of the Mastermind Program (MP) at UFSCar Teacher´s website. The initial focus were the Experiences of Teaching and Learning towards the literacy process, formative and investigative activity which has required the planning, implementation and evaluation of educative proposals to be made in common sense between a beginner and the mastermind from the specific difficulties indicated by the learner. The research was established through a study of case and it was based on a qualitative approach. The data sources were MP initial and final questionnaires, the productions developed by the beginners about literacy process along the MP, the interactions between the mastermind and the learner (considered online narratives) and the messages attachments. It was also established an actual interview with the mastermind and an online interview procedures sent to the beginner teachers. The theoretical references had as basis the teachers´ learning and their professional development, the knowledge basis for teaching, the online formation and the characteristics of the educators´ career phase. The conclusions of this research indicate the importance of the Teaching and Learning Experiences for the learning process of the beginners and also the urgency to promote the following of newcomers having as a start point the dilemmas and the difficulties found by them in this moment of their careers.Item type:Item, Análises comparativas citogenética e do DNA mitocondrial em Parauchenipterus galeatus Bleeker, 1862, (Siluriformes, Auchenipteridae) coletados no Alto rio Paraná, no Alto rio São Francisco e no rio Piumhi : um enfoque biogeográfico(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-05) ;Lui, Roberto Laridondo ;Moreira Filho, Orlando ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3927076022470557https://lattes.cnpq.br/9248633088721225The Brazilian freshwater ichithyofauna corresponds nearly 55% of species at Neotropical zone, including about 2.500 species grouped in 39 families and belonging to nine orders. Auchenipteridae comprises 20 genera and 90 species. Parauchenipterus presents a widely distribution, occurring across South América, appearing at Paraná- Paraguai, Amazônia, Orenoco Guianas and São Francisco basin, and Brazil´s East. Parauchenipterus galeatus occurs in different Brazilian basins, as Amazon, Prata and São Francisco. The present study describes through basic and molecular cytogenetic, and the sequence of mitochondrial DNA control region, three populations of Parauchenipterus galeatus from Paraná and São Francisco basin, and a probable natural (Wetland of Cururu) and artificial (Piumhi river transposition) connections between this two basins. The diploid number was equal to 58 chromosomes for the three populations; however, variations at the karyotype formula where detected (São Francisco, 22m+16sm+12st+8a; Piumhi, 20m+16sm+14st+8a; Paraná, 24m+18sm+8st+8a). At São Francisco population supernumerary chromosomes where detected. These Bchromosomes are small, metacentric, totally heterochromatics and have numeric variation intra and interindividual. The heterochromatin is located in terminal position from almost all chromosomes, and some metacentric, submetacentric, and subtelocentric chromosomes presents bitelomeric marks, and small pericentromeric blocks in some acrocentric chromosomes, occurring at the three populations. Ag-NORs presented simple at the short arm in an acrocentric pair from all populations, changing only the pair containing this site. In situ hybridization with rDNA 18S probes confirm the chromosome pair evidenced by Ag-NOR in all three populations. The rDNA 5S sites are interstitials, located in two submetacentric chromosome pairs, occurring at short/long arms in all three populations, changing only the pair containing this site. A 847 base pair fragment was amplified through D-loop sequence region from mitochondrial DNA in the three populations, presenting 65 polymorphic sites. The chromosome markers (classic and molecular) and mitochondrial DNA control region analysis shown that Piumhi river population probably already exists at this basin before the transposition. This proposing is based at the chromosome differences between those populations from different basins and mitochondrial DNA sequences, besides the detection of exclusive haplotypes of D-loop from each populations. The control sequences of DNA mitochondrial indicates a strong populational structuring, due to the fixation of molecular table of contents calculated and the fact that each population presents exclusive haplotypes, wich suggests the absence of genic flood among them. However, the chromosome differences show a bigger similarity between São Francisco and Piumhi than Paraná river population. The genetic distance detected among this population trhough the mitochondrial DNA sequences reinforces this nearness between São Francisco and Piumhi. This indicates that possibly this population diverge more recently when compared to Paraná river. The population located on the transposition region presented just one haplotype detected, which indicates the absence of genetic diversity. The present study suggests that, this low diversity is current of a possible population bottle neck with posterior effective size reducing of a population that probably habitats an old wetland (of Cururu) presents at this tansposition region. At the present study, the classic and molecular chromosome markers, allied to the natural basin formation historic context, ecological species aspects, geographic isolation between the basins and into the same basin were used to discuss the biogeographical possible relationship among the Parauchenipterus galeatus populations from different locations.Item type:Item, A formação na linha de fogo : videogames de guerra e a psique danificada(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-05) ;Guimaro, Maria Luiza Oliveira ;Zuin, Antônio Álvaro Soares ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5543562307373287https://lattes.cnpq.br/2044463051168767The objective of this thesis was the formative dimension of the youth in the contemporary world. We noticed that we could reflect upon this dimension through the following inquisition: What makes the youth be uninterested by the ―school seat‖, and trade them for ―Lan Houses seats‖. This problem leads us to think about some aspects of the current culture we emphasize here the overuse of war videogames which seem to be promoting identity and subjective constitution of the youth, instigating them to compulsive and addictive behavior. Thus, the present study aims at the subjectivity of the youth through videogames, especially the war ones, which seem to contribute to a formative harm in the subjects. In order to develop this argument, we need to reflect upon their status quo, the singularities, socialization, and consequently, the construction of their identity in the contemporary world. Our hypothesis, then, suggests that current teenagers are attached to undifferentiated constitution of the social fabric, heteronomously, which results in a rupture to the tendency to extinguish the frontiers between the public and the private, the childhood and the adulthood, the virtual and the real, the formative function of education and its appropriation by the industry. This analysis is also based on the idea that the traditional educational grounds family and school now share this responsibility with other institutions as a means to education. When observing, then, a new structure in the socialization field, we search for a relational perspective of analysis between these grounds, in order to understand the specificity of the identity building processes of the subjects in the current world. Aiming at measuring the current forms of the constitution of this subjectivity, we also resorted to psychoanalyses principles. The loss of authority in the family and by the teacher, mentioned a long time ago by Hannah Arendt, who referred to the allurement of the socialization in modern mass societies, resulting in the true fraud of the public life, and consequently, the public role of the school. One could infer that the decline of authority resides in the psychic field, in the form of a type of pathologization of the idealization (that is, there is no one to be admired), which is affecting the processes of secondary identification. Moreover, it may be contributing in teenage hood seriously shaking its narcissist basis (reinforcing these vices and addictive behaviors). Taking into account these perspective in the process of the subjectivities studied, a tendency to a reconfiguration of the psychic instances may be taking place as a consequence of the changes triggered by the late capitalism and by the changes occurred in paternal, family and school authorities, whose determinants seem to indicate a tendency to addictive behaviors (which are here understood through the heteronomic dependency of the subjects in the imaginet means of entertainment), as personality builders. The analysis of such behaviors may also indicate how much the youth simulate in their bodies and its relation to the extreme tendencies of the society, as a compulsion to repetition.Item type:Item, Avaliação da manutenção do torque durante abdução isométrica e do desempenho muscular durante abdução concêntrica e excêntrica em sujeitos com síndrome do impacto do ombro(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-05) ;Camargo, Paula Rezende ;Salvini, Tânia de Fátimahttps://lattes.cnpq.br/7602596349127054There is lack of studies with approach on the evaluation of torque steadiness in subjects with shoulder impingement, as well as studies evaluating the eccentric phase of elevation of the arm in these subjects. As such, the purpose of this study was to evaluate torque steadiness during isometric abduction and muscle performance during concentric and eccentric abduction of the shoulder in subjects with subacromial impingement syndrome (SIS) and healthy subjects. The SIS group consisted of 27 subjects (33.489.94 years) with unilateral SIS and it was divided into two groups: 1) SIS with the dominant involved side; 2) SIS with the nondominant involved side. The control group consisted of 23 healthy subjects (32.269.04 years). Peak torque and torque steadiness were measured during isometric abduction (80º in the scapular plane) of the shoulder. Standard deviation, coefficient of variation, stability time, median frequency, and relative power were measured from the steadiness trials. The target torque was 35% of peak torque. There were neither significant interactions between group and side (P > 0.05), nor were there significant main effects of group and side (P > 0.05) for all variables analyzed. Peak torque, total work and acceleration time were measured, bilaterally, during isokinetic concentric and eccentric abduction at 60°/s and 180°/s. No significant interactions were found between group and side (P>0.05), as well as no significant main effects of group and side (P>0.05) for all variables during concentric abduction of the shoulder at both tested speeds. During the eccentric contractions, lower total work (P<0.05) was demonstrated by the nondominant uninvolved side of SIS group at 60°/s, and by the uninvolved sides of the SIS groups at 180°/s compared to the dominant side of the controls. At 180°/s, the nondominant uninvolved side of the SIS group demonstrated slower acceleration time (P<0.05) compared to the dominant side of the control group, as well as the nondominant involved side of the SIS group compared to the nondominant side of the controls. The results of this study showed that steadiness is preserved by SIS during isometric abduction of the shoulder. No alterations were also shown in the measured parameters during concentric and eccentric phases of isokinetic abduction in subjects with SIS when compared to a control group. However, alterations may be observed in the contralateral side during the eccentric phase of abduction in subjects with unilateral conditions of SIS.Item type:Item, Gestão da integração entre desenvolvimento de produtos e de tecnologias : estudo de casos em empresas industriais de médio porte e intensivas em tecnologia(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-08) ;Jugend, Daniel ;Silva, Sérgio Luis da ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4164265591178698https://lattes.cnpq.br/2068042414626399Knowledge transfer and technological solutions to products of a company requires integration between different departments and experts involved in the process of product and technology development. Adequate transference requires the use of certain mechanisms of management by the company aiming at improving such integration. Using bibliographic review on innovation and technological management and products development process, this thesis proposes a structure that contains management practices for integration of products development (PD) and technological development (TD). In addition to that, it was carried out a qualitative research, operationalized by means of case studies in five large and medium national technology-based companies from the sector of capital goods. The findings of empirical work scrutinized technology innovation in product development within these firms, and also management practices used to integration between PD and TD. Practices adopted by companies are described and confronted with the presented theoretical approach. Recommendations, originated from the theoretical and empirics research, suggest management practices capable of guiding actions for a better development of integration between PD and TD, such as: the insertion of multitasking employees in the development team, the participation of R&D workers in activities of market research and allocation of heavyweight product manager for the conduction of products development project which demand technological innovationItem type:Item, Identificação da presença de osteoporose e fraturas vertebrais na doença pulmonar obstrutiva crônica(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-08) ;Ruas, Gualberto ;Jamami, Maurício ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4274129560250050https://lattes.cnpq.br/9918106413874214Introduction: Osteoporosis is a progressive disease with a significant reduction in bone mineral density (BMD) contributes to the emergence of osteoporotic vertebral fractures, thereby directly interfering with the quality of life of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Objectives: Detection of osteoporosis, vertebral fractures and pain intensity in the regions of the spine in men with moderate to severe COPD, but also whether there is any relationship between the variables studied and the degree of pulmonary obstruction. Methods: We studied 34 males with COPD (COPDG) and 33 healthy sedentary men (CG), through the bone densitometry and radiographs of the thoracic and lumbar spine. Results: There were no significant differences between groups in clinical trials that were within normal limits and anthropometric data. The COPDG showed lower values in the spirometric variables, BMD and T-score at lumbar spine, femoral neck and trochanter compared with the CG (p<0,05; Student t test), moreover, there was no correlation between FEV1 and BMD and T-score (Pearson correlation, p>0,05). It was found that 28 (83%) of individuals COPDG have osteoporosis, and 20 individuals (59%) presented with moderate obstruction of the lumbar spine, 0l (3%) in the femoral neck and 0l (3%) in the trochanter; 4 (12%) with severe pulmonary obstruction in the lumbar spine, 0l (3%) and femoral neck 0l (3%) in the trochanter. Twenty subjects (59%) of COPDG with moderate obstructive pulmonary disease patients with osteoporosis showed osteoporotic vertebral fractures in segments T5, T7, T9, T11, T12 and L1 grads I and II, 4 (12%) with severe obstructive pulmonary disease patients with osteoporosis at the lumbar spine osteoporotic fractures had grade III between segments T12-L4 (k=0,90;CI: 95%; with k=0,72-1,0) already in the CG 3 subjects had vertebral fractures and osteoarthritis segments T5, T6 and L1 and none had osteoporotic vertebral fractures (k=0,89; CI: 95% with k=0,72-1,0), the pain intensity of 3 individuals COPDG obstructive lung conditions who had osteoporosis and osteoporotic vertebral fractures grade III, reported presence of pain intensity "light" in the thoracolumbar region, while 21 had osteoporotic vertebral fractures and 3 asymptomatic individuals with CG not osteoporotic vertebral fractures and arthritis reported moderate pain intensity in the lumbar region. Conclusions: We conclude that individuals with moderate to severe COPD also had pulmonary involvement, decreased BMD and osteoporotic vertebral fractures, which indicates the need to adopt measures that take into account the prevention of osteoporosis in these patients and early diagnosis of this. Still, considering the entirety of the individual's needs, these must be assessed and addressed in establishing programs of physical therapy intervention to avoid future complications such as worsening or appearance of new fractures and thus promoting the improvement of functional capacity and quality of life.Item type:Item, Marcadores cromossômicos em Hoplias malabaricus (Characiformes, Erythrinidae). Citogenética comparativa entre cariomorfos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-08) ;Cioffi, Marcelo de Bello ;Bertollo, Luiz Antonio Carloshttps://lattes.cnpq.br/0242034365085727Hoplias malabaricus, a widespread Erythrinidae fish, is characterized by a karyotypic diversity, with seven karyomorphs already described. This report presented a comparative study of the karyomorphs A, B, C and D, which were previously included in a major karyotypic group (Group I), in order to evaluate the evolutionary relationships among them. The in situ investigation of several classes of repetitive DNAs added new informative characters useful in comparative genomics and provided new insights into the evolutionary relationships among karyomorphs. In addition to corroborate the inclusion of karyomorphs A-D in a close evolutionary group, the results provide further evidence for a greater proximity between the karyomorphs A-B and karyomorphs C-D. A comparative analysis among distinct populations of karyomorph A demonstrated a continuing genomic differentiation in this group, allowing the detection of recent evolutionary events, suggesting that this karyomorph cannot be considered an absolute evolutionary unit, as evidenced by their inner chromosomal differentiation. It was also expanded our knowledge of the sex chromosomes differentiation in H. malabaricus, allowing to conclude that repetitive DNAs played an important role in the differentiation process. It was detected a cryptic differentiated XX/XY sex chromosome system in karyomorph C, which is clearly correlated with the evolution of the X1X1X2X2/X1X2Y sex chromosome system of karyomorph D. The cytogenetic mapping of five classes of repetitive DNAs also indicated the probable derivation of the XX/XY chromosomes of karyomorph B from autosomal chromosomes of karyomorph A. In this case, the X chromosomes were seen as the preferred site for the accumulation of DNA repeats, which represents an unusual condition of X accumulating more repetitive DNAs than Y chromosome in fish. The overall results were able to demonstrate that the repetitive DNA fraction of the genome constitutes good evolutionary markers in H. malabaricus, allowing to improve the understanding of the evolutionary mechanisms that have generated the complex genomic structure found in this fish group.Item type:Item, Aspectos semânticos da terminologia do biodiesel(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-10) ;Pino, Douglas Henrique Perez ;Almeida, Gladis Maria de Barcellos ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4046789388750478https://lattes.cnpq.br/5613308996045290Nowadays we have been observing the expansion of knowledge mainly caused by continuous changes in science and its techniques. Terminology, as an academic subject concerned with the so-called specialized languages, play an important role in this process. The relevance of this research can be justified by the lack of systematic terminological repertoire for a strategic sector of the Brazilian economy, as biofuels/biodiesel. In this sense, our goals are: i) systematize the terminology of biodiesel in Portuguese in order to promote more efficient communication, allowing both scientific and technological information exchange among users and researchers of this area, as well as, generate resources for the subsequent creation of the first dictionary of this knowledge domain; ii) investigate biodiesel terminology from a semantic perspective, choosing the Qualia Structure, model of semantic structure which integrates Pustejovsky s Generative Lexicon Theory (1995) as a theoretical frame. In order to develop this research, the methodology used was based on the one elaborated and improved by GETerm, adopting descriptive terminology of linguistic base, specifically the postulates of the Communicative Theory of Terminology (CTT) (CABRÉ, 1999, 2003). As results of this investigation, we attained: a biodiesel corpus with approximately 1.5 million words, an ontology containing 280 terms and a repertoire of 50 definitions. At the end, we concluded that the application of Qualia Structure in terminological work may support the terminographic activity.Item type:Item, Programa de habilidades sociais assertivas com idosos: avaliação sob delineamento placebo(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-10) ;Braz, Ana Carolina ;Del Prette, Zilda Aparecida Pereira ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/8113238388739093https://lattes.cnpq.br/7034548352522284Given current social concerns with respect to senior´s rights, this study describes and evaluates a Social-Skills Assertiveness Training-Program (ASSTP) for elderly people. The sample (two men and 13 women) participated in one of two intervention groups: Experimental (EG, which received the ASSTP) or Placebo (PG, which received educational interactive presentations), based on a placebo design. For pre, post-test and follow-up measures, participants were evaluated using the IHSI-Del-Prette (a Social Skills inventory for the elderly) and the IREI (a questionnaire for the evaluation of the extent to which elderly people understand and exercise their rights). Also, during the post-test, participants completed a program evaluation questionnaire User´s Satisfaction with the Training Program . Results indicated acquisition and maintenance of the assertiveness social-skills repertoire in the EG, but not in the PG. Assessments carried out in the pre, post and followup using the IREI multiple choice items indicated no differences between these results in either EG or the PG. For the requiring written responses, however qualitative questions of IREI statiscally significant differences were found for Spontaneous reports of senior rights (for the EG, but not the for PG) and for Discrimination of situations when elderly had their rights disrespected by others , between the posttest and follow-up results for both the EG and the PG. With respect to their satisfaction, both groups presented high means for: (1) satisfaction with the program received, (2) importance of the program´s procedures, (3) readiness to perform assertive social skills, and (4) self evaluation of their performance in the program, but the PG indicated higher levels of satisfaction than the EG. We discuss the impact and effectiveness of the ASST Program, the viability and the importance of using placebo designs in order to assess internal validity of social-skills assertiveness training-programs and its critical features, as well as the relevance of this kind of intervention for the elderly, at this time.Item type:Item, Lazer e processos educativos : mergulhos culturais na Bacia do Salto(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-11) ;Souza, Paulo César Antonini de ;Gonçalves Junior, Luizhttps://lattes.cnpq.br/5053102098056338This study was conducted with thirteen participants dips and jumps in the Bacia do Salto do Rio Jacaré, site located at Parque dos Saltos in Brotas city, small town of São Paulo state. The social practice of dips and jumps in Bacia, culturally developed by residents of the city since childhood, which is presented as a breach of the established commercially values by the brotense tourism industry, because are developing in an unused space by agencies to due the risk that the site offers to people who do this. During the development of this dissertation, the relationship between popular culture, languages and cutout art and, the time and freedom in leisure, dialogue each and provided orientate many of reflections built. The objective of this research was to unveil the essence of a social recreation in the Bacia do Salto, in attempt to understand the educational processes constituted in these relations, in recognition to cultural diversity as a possible element for the establishment of a teaching focused on the human and its existence. The methodology was phenomenology, located phenomenon mode, conduced from the question: What does sense in your experience in Bacia do Salto of Rio Jacaré Pepira? In the analysis of the data collected through individual interviews, we found four categories: A) Ecstasy; B) Envisage the adversity, C) Masculine context; D) Educational Processes. In the considerations we understand the relationships of the educational components that travel in continuous motion from the reflections of the participants, embodied by the sensations of pleasure, means of confronting the fears and anxieties of daily life and self-assertion on the role they have assumed before the society . The essence indicates that a new look unveiled without preconceptions and willing to accept the popular wisdom of the experience, practice, social leisure, has potential facultative to building a humane pedagogical Latin American, born by way of men and women's groups and grassroots communities.Item type:Item, Saberes mobilizados por um grupo de professoras diante do desafio de integrar a Literatura infantojuvenil e a Matemática(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-11) ;Montezuma, Luci Fátima ;Oliveira, Rosa Maria Moraes Anunciato de ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3064136997342775https://lattes.cnpq.br/6424535625288505Starting from the point that the continual formation of teachers must give opportunities to reflect about its own practice, to live classroom experiences from the situations developed in the courses and gain access to a theoretical foundation, we try to investigate which knowledge is mobilized, built and/or meant again by a group of elementary school teachers in an extension course before the challenge of integrating the juvenile literature and math. Related to the formation of teachers, knowledge and knowledge base to the teaching, strategies of formation and connection of literature with math, we chose among some topics of discussion Alarcão, Charlot, Fiorentini et al, Gauthier et al, Grando, Imbernón, Machado, Mizukami et al, Nacarato, Nóvoa, Oliveira, Passos, Ponte, Schön, Serrazina, Shulman, Smole, Tardif and Zeichner. In a qualitative approach we aimed to identify and analyze in this context the knowledge that was mobilized related to the general pedagogical knowledge as well as the specific ones related the professional development of the teachers before several formative strategies that were adapted during the course as reflection, team work, narratives, pedagogical interferences and reflexive observation by the teachers of the video classes, and also identify and analyze the potentialities of using the methodology of the connection of juvenile literature with math to the teaching. The analysis of data signals that the knowledge mobilized by the teachers was multiple and from different sources; it indicates that changes in general knowledge as well as in specific one in math, new meanings of some conceptions that the collaborative teachers related the teaching posture to the contents, values, attitudes and behavior. We also noticed that the value given to the time of group work by the teachers with the sharing of knowledge, legitimation of some teaching actions related to the contents, ways of performance, pedagogical resources adapted and mainly related to some concepts of geometry, the treatment of information and fractional/rational numbers that were the topics studied during the course; the acknowledgement and acceptance of the differences in classroom. We raised evidences that the professional knowledge of the teachers was meant with practice since they started to face Math presented in books in a different way, conceiving a new way of mobilizing the students to a learning process, what means a bigger flexibility in the base of the knowledge to the teaching and offer potentialities for a professional development.Item type:Item, Aplicação de ferramentas estatísticas para avaliação de filmes de emulsões estireno acrílicas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-11) ;Graziani, Marcelo Beck ;Pereira Filho, Edenir Rodrigueshttps://lattes.cnpq.br/3394181280355442This dissertation is focused on using statistical tools (Design of Experiments, DOE) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) for evaluating latex film formation. The experimental part was conducted at Dow Brasil R&D facility in São Paulo. Samples were analyzed in triplicate using the following tests: scrub resistance, minimum film formation temperature (MFFT), drying time and Brookfield viscosity. Initially, four different coalescents were added into a single emulsion system at the following concentrations: 1, 2, 3 and 5% (w/w). Plots of results against coalescent concentrations were used for comparison, as a standard coalescent evaluation approach. Subsequently the model was used to determine the numerical relationship that describes each test. Analysis of variance was done. It was possible to propose models for scrub resistance, MFFT and Brookfield viscosity. Drying time did not have valid coefficients for modeling. A Doehlert design of experiments was prepared using as variable coalescent type (X, Y and Z), coalescent concentration (0 to 5%, studied in 7 levels) and latex type (A, C, D, E and F). Additionally, seven samples were prepared for model validation. A model was run to determine the equation that describes each test. Variance, lack of fit and pure error analysis were applied. It was possible to propose models for scrub resistance, MFFT, drying time and Brookfield viscosity. For each test a PCA was performed using the following variables: coalescent concentration, coalescent type, latex type and the response of each specific test. Models were run using the first principal component scores and DOE variables. Again, variance, lack of fit and pure error analysis were applied and models were proposed. Comparing these two approaches showed that using PCA was more appropriate to extract information from raw data. Based on PC scores models, scrub resistance, MFFT and drying time contour plots were prepared. Desired results (maximum of scrub resistance, the minimum of MFFT and the shortest drying time) were highlighted in order to identify the best combination of coalescent concentration and latex type. In this case, coalescent concentration between 1.7% and 5.0% and coalescents A and/or F were optimum. Experimental results from the validation set were compared with model ones and, in average, there was about 80% of concordance between them.Item type:Item, Nova Escola a revista de quem educa: a fabricação de modelos ideais do ser professor(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-12) ;Ripa, Roselaine ;Zuin, Antônio Álvaro Soares ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5543562307373287https://lattes.cnpq.br/2417267498278674The Nova Escola magazine is edited by Victor Civita Fundation and counts with subsidies from the Federal Government and from private enterprises. His publications contemplate many subjects related to Education, using for this several forms: interviews, articles, experiential accounts, suggestions for class activities, well succeeded projects presentation, reports, etc. The magazine launching was in 1986, period in which the country redemocratization was trying to be consolidated, with the goals of informing and updating the Brazilian teacher. From 1998, the Nova Escola team started to organize the Victor Civita Prize: Mark 10 Educator , which elects the ones who developed good quality experiences of teaching/learning . Therefore, it becomes opportune to investigate how a magazine, which has a large circulation in the educational field, which receives subsidies from the Federal Government, which is distributed without costs to the whole Brazilian public schools, which considers itself as a necessary instrument so improvements in education can be effective, which calls itself a educational magazine , which is destined for those who educates , and which concedes prizes to the teachers that deserve mark 10, operates in the patterns construction of being teacher . Considering, therefore, the Nova Escola magazine as a communication support integrant of the culture industry, which broadcasts, through its content, the ideas of his producers and his consumers, we elaborated the following research question: how the Nova Escola magazine effected in the ideal patterns construction of being a teacher ? Thus, we have as goals: to map, in the period from 1986 to 2006, the predominant themes in the Nova Escola magazine reports; to establish an interface between the approached themes and the historical context in which the publication occurred; and to analyze the Basic Education teacher representation suggested and/or enrolled in the winner projects of Victor Civita Prize. The mapping register included seven distinct fields, organized in chronological order: magazine number; report title followed by the lead; author/reporter; section in which the report was published; and the following categories: educational experiences, teaching and learning processes, educational policy, and teacher professionalization. From this mapping, the reports that related the projects of the Mark 10 Educator , elected by Victor Civita Prize of each year, were analyzed. To the consecution of the proposed analysis, we elected as references the texts from authors who investigate the facts and historical process of the post-military dictatorship period in Brazil, as well as researches about the teacher identity construction and theoretical studies about culture industry, semi-formation and damaged education, elaborated by the Critical Theory philosophers. In the face of the obtained data, we can detach that the teaching projects sent by those who were elected mark 10 educator are divulged as patterns of being teacher once they develop the educational experiences that are propagated as ideals by the magazine. Those experiences are divulged as imperative prescriptions to the Basic Education teacher who also intend to become a mark 10 educator .Item type:Item, Estudo comparativo da inicialização e finalização da marcha: do bebê ao adulto(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-14) ;Nora, Fernanda Grazielle da Silva Azevedo ;Costa, Paula Hentschel Lobo da ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9083349298690934https://lattes.cnpq.br/8031963003997806The gait initiation is set to transition from standing posture to the first step to reversing cyclical, and involves a motor program mediated by adjustments preparations necessary to propel the body forward (MELOUIN ET AL, 2000). Studies that approach the initialization mostly in the adult population have aimed to understand the limitations in postural disorders, aging and what little is in the child population also has a focus on disease and how this process occurs not because of the development of walking independent. This study aimed to describe how the gait initiation process occurs and how it changes as occurs the development of independent walking. We evaluated 29 subjects into three groups: G1 (15 months - 10 subjects), G2 (3 years - 9 subjects) and GA (Adult - 10 subjects). The variables were analyzed: amplitude of oscillation of the center of force toward the average side (COFML) and anterior posterior (COFAP) and average speed and VELAP VELML. The nonparametric Kruskal Wallis test was used to detect differences between groups; the significance level was p ≤ 0.05%. Results of gait initiation: COFAP (cm) there was no statistically significant differences between groups. However, both groups showed significant differences in the COFML behavior (7.79cm = G1, G3 = 7.46cm, GA = 3.25cm, p = 0.01). Furthermore the variable VELAP (cm / s), showed no statistically significant difference between groups, as well as the variable VLML. Results of gait termination: variables results COFAP (G1 = 11.15 cm, G3 = GA = 8.69 cm and 5.17 cm) and COFML (G1 = 7.83 cm, G3 = 8 cm and 4.86 cm = GA) showed no statistically significant differences when purchased between the three groups proposed both as a platform to platform 2. VELAP (G1 = 4.13 cm / s, G3 = 3.16 cm / GA = 3.26 cm / s) and VELML (G1 = 9.74 cm / s, G3 = 5.72 cm / s and GA = 2, 49 cm / s) were not statistically different during the completion of the gait termination, the results indicated the importance that the strength center behavior and the ability to deal with the gravitational field during the gait initiation and how this process changes with the experience of walking independently.Item type:Item, Efeitos dos recursos de baixa tecnologia assistiva nas atividades lúdicas para crianças com paralisia cerebral na educação infantil(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-17) ;Zuttin, Fabiana da Silva ;Martinez, Claudia Maria Simõeshttps://lattes.cnpq.br/5859720571706844Playing is considered a natural and basic process for the development of some abilities in infancy. However, children with physical deficiency, such as children with cerebral palsy, for presenting a disorder on the muscular tonus and on the posture, may have difficulties in carrying through this playful experience in many contexts, especially in school environment. In the current time, for many of these children, it is possible to create a facilitator environment of this process of playing through the use of resources of assistive technology. In this perspective, the present study had the objective to elaborate and implement individualized programs of intervention based on playful activities, coming from the knowledge of the Occupational Therapy and to evaluate its effect. The related individualized programs had been supported in resources of low assistive technology for the participation of children with cerebral palsy in the school context of the kindergarten. Three children with the diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy, of the spastic type, enrolled in a private regular education of the kindergarten, in a medium size city of Sao Paulo state and its respective professors, participated in this study. The instruments used for the collection of data were: a script of interview for the professors on the participation of its pupils in the playful activities in Kindergarten (REPPAAL-EI) and the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) used as indirect measurement. Both were applied for the professors and the Protocol of the Playful Model, as direct measurement in order to observe the child with cerebral palsy in the playful activities of the kindergarten. The results demonstrated that the intervention program promoted improvement in the performance of the children in relation of the participation on the playful activities in the school context, corroborating with the objective of the current research. Moreover, it promoted benefits that made it easier the process of inclusion of these children in school environments.Item type:Item, Avaliação da aprendizagem no ensino superior na área de saúde: unidade de produção de sentidos sob a perspectiva histórico-cultural(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-17) ;Cavalcante, Leila Pacheco Ferreira ;Mello, Maria Aparecida ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/8338726751746542https://lattes.cnpq.br/7862016301902937The current research has the assessment in Health graduation teaching within a Higher Teaching Institution as its object of study. It is a qualitative investigation aiming at identifying and analyzing the discourses and the meanings of the learning assessment produced among the professors and students from the Nursing and Medicine graduation course. Such object of study assumes a specific dimension in the Historical-Cultural referent, focusing on Leontiev‟s proposed Activity Theory, as it conceives the relation among assessment, teaching and learning as a unit of producing meanings, when professors and students are formed and transformed into combined activity. Students and professors from both courses were the subjects of such investigation. The data were obtained through interviews, application of the focal groups‟ technique and the documental analysis of the Political-Pedagogical Plans. The analyzed statements reveal assessment conceptions that carry different epistemologies and some contradictions between the discourse and the praxis. Among them, there are the ones who see it as coercion and control tools, and others who direct it as an essential strategy to teaching quality, thus recognizing that the social conditions are determinant in producing knowledge. In spite of the fact that it is conceived as a process, most professors are concerned in providing answers to the academic system. Most of them accomplish it through a conservative perspective, placing the formation process as something of individual responsibility, when it should be understood as a collective activity mediated by the subjects who make part of the teaching activity. There is the prevalence of considering assessment as an activity aimed at providing marks that stand as passing signs so that students are allowed to carry on within the course. Therefore, the assessment carried out by the professors follows towards a direction that is opposite to the students‟ conception, because the latter are concerned about learning whereas the former ones prioritize the capacity of answering questions about the syllabus. The subjects qualify assessment as a necessary tool in teaching planning, in guiding the pedagogical management and in the institutional development, although they are still not able to make it an appropriate tool so as to diagnose the teaching deficiencies and their implications in learning. Thus, they question the pertinence of the assessment they carry out and the tools they have in order to identify whether the student has learned or not. They attribute the insufficient formation for the teaching carreer as the cause for the vague knowledge they have about this situation, as well as the defficiency of the ability to deal with assessment in an appropriate way and they confirm the lack of objective working conditions that provide them such learning in an equivalent proportion to the specificities of the area in which they work. The professors state various reasons so as to explain the need of assessing. Some of them are related to the mechanisms of management and the structure of the very working process and, consequently, the objective conditions that mediate their accomplishment. It can be highlighted among them: the need of meeting the expectations of the academic system; introducing qualified professionals within the working market; forcing students to study hard; conferring marks and providing with information about the professors‟ work; stimulating students to study and correct mistakes identified in the learning process; promoting learners‟ autonomy and raising their will to learn, the feeling of pertaining to and the responsibility for the choice they have made. It seems to us that the role of assessment is not still very clear for the professors, as its focus is aimed at the formal scheme in order to fulfill the bureaucratic requirements of the academic system, which stands as the manager of the teaching activities and, therefore, it is the prevalent sense of assessment within the Health graduation teaching.Item type:Item, Contribuição ao projeto e execução de lajes lisas nervuradas pré-fabricadas com vigotas treliçadas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-18) ;Avilla Junior, Jovair ;Figueiredo Filho, Jasson Rodrigues dehttps://lattes.cnpq.br/0732866094426766The big surge in use of systems for flat slabs gave up the search for freedom in the definition and organization of architectural interior spaces in buildings. The design and construction of buildings on flat slabs, which allow great mobility in defining the internal space of the building and reducing its height. The slabs with prefabricated trussed beams using forms lost in blocks of expanded polystyrene (EPS) or removable forms, brought new perspectives to the design of flat slabs, allowing greater spans with low deadweight. The precast elements are lightweight, easy handling, transport and assembly, and require the use of molds and special equipment and requires little bracing. Computer programs have emerged in recent years provide more refined calculations that predict the behavior of the structure in service with greater precision. This way the designers have increased security in systems design less common as flat slabs ribbed, without internal beams, capitals and even edge beams. In Brazil the predominant culture in the design and implementation of flat slabs is given by the system option molded on site. The objectives of this study are: to seek answers to the prevailing cultural behavior, and to compare their advantages and disadvantages when compared with cast on site, presenting the normative regulations and simplified calculation method according to ABNT NBR 6118:2003, provide subsidies for the project and implementation of flat slabs with ribbed prefabricated trussed beams, provide a calculation method for the infinitely rigid diaphragm; present a real case study as a comparison of costs.Item type:Item, Uma arquitetura de comunicação oportunística(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-18) ;Moschetto, Danilo Augusto ;Guardia, Hélio Crestana ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1780902767520967https://lattes.cnpq.br/0234923460537082Mobile computing devices often present high processing power and include several wireless network interfaces. 4G networks promise to provide a unified IP based infrastructure with QoS and security support for the communications using such devices. Transmission delays, and network disruptions, however, are often common when considering the current transmissions of mobile users. This work presents a software communications architecture which is tolerant to transmission delays and intermittent connectivity by exploring a hop-by-hop forwarding mode in DTNs. The proposed architecture is organized as a set of functional layers, which allow the use of different forwarding policies and network technologies. By providing the forwarding of objects, named bundles, an unlimited number of high level communication applications can be implemented on top of the architecture. Security aspects concerning the proper identification of users and transmission bundles, as well as the confidentiality and authentication of the received information are considered in the project of the developed architecture. Log keeping of the bundle forwarding activities performed by the architecture, including the interactions among users and the data passing operations, may be further investigated for use in different context aware forwarding and social organization algorithms. A partial implementation of the developed architecture was made and the results demonstrate the viability of its operation.Item type:Item, Relação entre inteligibilidade de fala e habilidades sociais de comunicação em crianças com desvio fonológico(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2010-02-19) ;Carlino, Fabiana Cristina ;Del Prette, Almir ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2191226494887247https://lattes.cnpq.br/0708927614828521The language is considered the first form of socialization of the child, but during the natural process of language acquisition is possible that some children experience difficulties and may have what are called language disorders, which may impact both on the psychological development and social conditions. Among several problems, the most common are: shyness, social isolation, academic difficulties, and may also suffer prejudice by their peers and even genuinely experience school failure. Thus, the purpose of this study is the purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the degree of speech intelligibility and social skills of communication in children diagnosed with phonological disorder. Participated in the study, 10 children between 6 and 8 years of both sexes, their mothers and their teachers. Initially, the mothers responded to the instrument SSRS-BR (System of Evaluation of Social Skills - M version), which aims to measure the frequency with which the child has certain social skills and Brazil Criterion to categorize the economic level of agreement with the power purchasing family. Then the teachers responded to the instrument (SSRS-BR - W version) with the same goal of SSRS-BR applied to mothers. Finally, children were assessed using the instrument ABFW, in order to analyze the severity of phonological disorder, and the calculation was based on the percentage of consonants correct (PCC) and assessment of the Speech Intelligibility was characterized According to the settings: Low, Regulation and Good. Finally, children were shot in three situations structured interaction with the purpose of observing the behavior in social skills of communication. The recordings were analyzed by two trained judges based on the presence or absence of certain behavior. Each film obtained for 10 minutes, totaling 30 minutes. The data were organized in the database of SPSS 17.0 for Windows and analyzed with respect to the overall score of each factor and measures. In general the mothers rated their children with a level of social skills among middle and high, showing little or no difficulty related to social skills. While the teachers rated the participants with a level of social skills among middle and bottom. In addition to classifying them as behavioral problems of medium and high. It was possible to observe a similarity between the participants in relation to the higher level of internalizing problems (such as depression and anxiety. This study can conclude a positive statistical relationship between the GIF and HSC of children with phonological disorders. Thus, in future studies, it is suggested to include other language disorders, with the primary goal of inferring social skills deficits in communication, because that way you can make interventions that allow both the reduction and overcoming difficulties in the social .
