With the advancement of hardware capability and key technologies of software and networking, ubiquitous computing is becoming a reality. The term ubiquitous computing refers to environments saturated with computing devices and communication networks that integrate naturally to human activity. According to Mark Weiser, the father of ubiquitous computing, "the most profound technologies are those that disappear." In this sense, ubiquitous computing can be considered the opposite of virtual reality. While the second one the user enters the virtual world, the first computing is penetrating into the user's physical world, building the connection between the two worlds. Research in different areas have been undertaken to improve the process of software development in ubiquitous computing. In software engineering, this new paradigm, mainly due to the amount and diversity of devices and platforms, present problems, such as applications development in manual and on-demand, and difficulties in maintenance and development of applications to meet the new requirements and monitor changes platforms. These problems have motivated the search for methods, processes, techniques and tools for modeling, implementing, testing to support the development of ubiquitous applications. Motivated to search for a solution to these problems, this project developed a model-driven approach to building software in ubiquitous computing. The approach is based on Domain-Specific Modeling (DSM) and Model-Driven Architecture (MDA). With a focus on reuse of software at different levels in the life cycle of software from the application modeling through implementation, the approach provides a productivity gain in application development that must be performed on different architectures of ubiquitous computing, as the numerous mobile devices such as cellphones, PDAs and others. The main mechanisms that automate part of the activities of a Software Engineer in implementing the approach are: a CASE tool, a code generator for the modeling of specific applications of a field, the IDE (Integrated Development Environment) Eclipse is a framework for science context and content adaption. Case studies in the field of medical education were developed to test and evaluate the proposed approach.

The decision support tools are importants in many domains of our society. But there is a need to make users understand the decisions made by those tools in order to increase the faith of the users on the results. In the literature, Bayesian networks are considered as a probabilistic classification system with good performance. But it still need a better presentation of it results to make it more understandable to the users. In other hand, the fuzzy logic ofer potential to deal with imprecision and uncertainty, as well as a linguistic representation, which facilitates user's understanding. The combination of Bayesian networks and fuzzy logic is proposed by the method BayesFuzzy, which make use of fuzzy rules as a form of explanation of a Bayesian network, it aims to obtain a decision support tool with good performance and easy to be understood by users. So we are proposiing the method Pruned BayesFuzzy (PBF), it is a BayesFuzzy incorporated with minimum certainty degree, default rule and Rule Post-Pruning as a form to select the most important rules for classification between all the rules generated, it also simplifies those rules. The results of PBF show an improvement in understanding but a loss in correct classification rate. But the improvement in understanding is promising enough to further research and enhance of the PBF. Then beside PBF, we also propose the Pruned BayesFuzzy 2 (PBF2), which is PBF incorporated with a feature selection technique based on Markov Blanket. With the incorporation of this technique, it's possible to deal with situations that contains a large amount of variables inside of the Markov Blanket of the class variable. The results show a loss in correct classification rate, that is already expected when we try to simplify further more the Markov Blanket. However, the availability to be able to deal with big scale problems is something to be considered.

This paper proposes a case study in a computer room at a school for Special Education of a midsize city in the State of Sao Paulo, with a teacher of this modality of teaching. The objective was to develop computerized teaching strategies which foster the learning of children with disabilities in special classes through the process of training teachers for this purpose. As a research problem arose the question: How to transform the teaching of a computer room dedicated to serving people with disabilities? To identify the practices of the teacher in the computer room before the stage of intervention was developed and implemented an initial questionnaire, immediately after the intervention was administered a questionnaire to determine the final outcomes after this step. Data collection for the entire intervention process was described in a diary, which was completed in the ending of each stage of intervention. The digital literacy of the teacher was important for the new feature available in the school favored the formation of its students with a teaching practice consistent with current reality. However the computer room was only used when the researcher was present at the school. For the teacher the research contributed to her teaching practice because she did not know before how to use the computer resources as a teaching resource. Other relevant data is the scarcity of time and lack of organization of school hours for use of the school environment.

The Paraguay River, show spatial and temporal heterogeneity, due it had many secondary channels, oxbow lakes, baías, corixos floodplains, due to the Flood Pulse. Therefore these sets of factors are important for the aquatic macrophyte structuration on floodplains. This research had as main purpose, to evaluate the aquatic macrophyte of the Paraguay River, from Cáceres to Taiamã Ecological Station into the Pantanal of Mato Grosso State. For so, the sample collects were realized between April of 2008 to April of 2009, covering all the hydrological periods. Therefore on each period it was registered the environmental variables, water and air temperature, water level, transparency, pH, dissolved oxygen, water electric conductivity, nitrogen and phosphorous nutrients, calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium and the biological variable: though the cover of the community of water macrophyte, using a square, where was measured the cover degree according to the visualization. With these data were possible to analyze the composition, abundance, diversity and biological way of life. To shown the results of this study, it was separated into two chapters. The first one, The spatial and temporal dynamics of the aquatic macrophytes in the Paraguay river and in the parental lakes . On this were addressed the spatial and temporal dynamics of the structure and composition of the aquatic macrophyte composition and the environmental variables on many lakes with different degree of connectivity with the Paraguay River. The samples collects were realized on 11 neighboring lakes along the Paraguay river, showing three different kinds of connectivity (unconnected, directly connected to river and indirect connected to the river) While into the river the collects were realized onto ten points, downstream to each lake. The limnologic variables show strong correlation with flood pulse. The Paraguay River show high values of dissolved oxygen and pH during dry period and filling water period and the lakes shown high values of conductivity. The directly connected lakes show big richness of species and biologic way of life, and high values of diversity during all hydrologic periods. Eichhornia azurea, Eichhornia crassipes and Salvinia auriculata were the species who show the biggest abundance mainly in the river. The aquatic macrophyte ordination of the free floating kind showed the biggest abundance during flood in the river and in all hydrological periods in the lakes. The fix floating/emergent dominated on the Paraguay River. The environment studied shown difference during dry and filling period and was grouped on the flood period, when the water levels make the homogenization of the System River, lake and flood plain. The second chapter The functional sectors of the Paraguay river determine the aquatic macrophyte 9 domination , The text show the discussion about the dynamic and the community of the aquatic macrophyte, into three sections of the Paraguay river, which are different in the geomorphology. Where this functional sectors describe the segments of the river differentiated by the changes in the kind of the standard of the Channel flooding area, on the width of the river, in the inclination of the valley, on the sinuosity and on the effect of the confluence of the tributaries with the entry of different water and sediments. The sectors analyzed were: Meander, Straight and transition. On each sector were analyzed the cover the aquatic macrophyte community and the environmental variables of the lakes and the Paraguay river, during dry and flood period. The variable dissolved oxygen (dry period) and water electric conductivity (flood and dry period), analyzed though the ANOVA text, shown exist significant differences between sectors. Analyzing the composition and structure of the aquatic macrophyte community, it was observed that in the meander sector, the lakes, both periods, shown bigger richness and bigger diversity of species in relation to another lakes in another sectors, while the transition sector shown bigger richness and diversity during flood period. Probably these differences are related to the fluvial geomorphology, typical of each sector. The meandric sector is a sector with high sinuosity, which favor a high number of lakes, secondary channels, ancient channels of the river and floodplain. The Paraguay river shown bigger richness and diversity of species on the transition sector, on both hydrological periods, probably due to the presence of many fix floating species and/or emergent. However it is possible to verify that the abundance of Eichhornia azurea and Salvinia auriculata species, on the meandric and transition sectors, enforce the similarity which exists between these lakes during dry period. The lakes of the straight sector are more deep in relation to the another, what probably, favor the high abundance of Salvinia auriculata, make these not similar to another.

The main objective of this research is develop a teaching material by exploring the Fractal Geometry helps students and teachers in teaching-learning process the concepts of Similarity of Figures, among others, present in the curriculum of 8th grade of Elementary School. In this sense, we work with Activities Sheets that connect content that are part of the curriculum with the Fractal Geometry, because it looks playful and investigative. From activities undertaken and the testimony of interviewees we note the great commitment and interest from them. We also intend to show how was the process of developing this material by students and their acceptability in terms of a Research on Their Own Professional Practice (PONTE, 2002). We still investigated the Euclidean Geometry, from which much of the school geometry comes and the Fractal Geometry systematized by Mandelbrot in the last decades of the twentieth century, considering the possibility of its presence in the curriculum of Basic Education, particularly in São Paulo s Curriculum Proposal.

In this study we address the relationships and interactions in riverine communities, from the long-term observation of the riverine of the middle Cuiabá River in their quotidian and anchored for a closer look and a more detailed accompaniment in Bonsucesso, community located in the Várzea Grande city, State of Mato Grosso. This study had two objectives: The first one was to learn the ways of handling, the practical uses of ecosystem services, the living place, and biodiversity representations, to know the riverine communities, the relationships they establish with the ecosystem services, the perception and the knowledge that they build on the area where they develop their experiences. The research was qualitative, and during the fieldwork we contacted riverines, hearing their stories of life, to pursue the path of representations in the world and of the world of these social actors. We, also, could diagnose the current situation of riverine landscape of the Cuiabá River in its middle course. The second objective was to develop environmental education activities to mediate the approach of pedagogical practices and the experienced practices. Thus, we mediate the dialogue between structured and local knowledges, empowering teachers and community members in thematic workshops for dealing with the environmental problems perceived. We recorded the riverines perceptions of Cuiabá River, and their associated ecosystems, through reports of their experiences and observation in the living environment. We identified the principal sites of interaction with the ecosystem services, and the categories of biodiversity uses. We described procedures for obtaining production services and transformation processes in cultural services, mediated by traditional knowledge. The prospects for sustainability of the people on the riverbank are centered on the traditional knowledge, which are cultural services built over time from experience with the river and land, and biodiversity and social relations established on daily basis along the river. The riverine communities require many ecosystem services, and survived because they have developed cultural techniques for the maintenance of these services. In conclusion, keeping the communities along the river, assuring them the continuity of their practices, is a way to conserve ecosystem services.

Currently students are accommodated with the way that they are receiving information, the classes which have a predetermined format being made to theoretical explanation and then is made to exercises whose resolution is closely related to the theory that students should only apply the knowledge acquired and in most cases requires little or no reasoning part of it becoming just a mechanical process. It is proposed to implement a laboratory for teaching mathematics in high schools called " Machinery workshop " which is an initiative to resume in the classroom curiosity and efforts of the student to solve certain problems that are presented in so that necessary degree of mathematical reasoning that enables the resolution. During the execution of the project are worked concepts provided by the teacher and the experiments are conducted and reported by each group with their conclusions. The workshops have been held in a pilot project in a school with high school students from three grades so that the students learn the mechanics of real life. So were prepared classes where students took bicycles, among others, to be studied. At each meeting, each group performed a different activity between virtual activities, constructions with ruler and compass, building mechanisms with industrial materials, analysis of mechanisms of real life. These groups, in each meeting, used their knowledge to the development of a linkage constructed with low cost materials and studied its mathematical properties. The activities were documented on video for analysis and were made audio recordings to allow the transcription of important events thus revealing the strengths and weaknesses of each experiment. We used a camera to capture images during the meetings, and reports of activities carried out by groups with their comments on the meetings and questions that arose. The completion of the project was carried out with an event held at the school where the groups could present their projects developed and show the mechanisms produced by the same to the other students and teachers of the college. The assessment of students is an ongoing process, where the progress of students is perceived in terms of their involvement.

The main subject of this dissertation is how a form of suffering, the psychological distress, is constructed and experienced by young college students. The objects of analysis are the practices and discourses that produce psychological distress, as well as ways to overcome this experience. After identifying the importance and recurrence of psychological distress in the development of life experience among these students, I sought to explore the subject through an ethnographic research. Thus, this dissertation begins going deep into some issues raised by students' speech about how it is to suffer psychologically and what relationship this experience has with university life . In this first step I resorted to open interviews with students who had undergone psychotherapeutic processes. At a second moment, the research enters the boundaries of a research institution and university extension affiliated with the SUS ( Unified Health System ), which develops an Extension Project titled Group Therapy University Youth (GTJU). The project created by the School Health Unit (USE) Mental Health Program (PSM) intended to develop therapeutic tactics to help these young people cope with psychological distress, as professionals observed an excessively high demand for this cohort of young people. From this moment on, psychological distress among young college students becomes analyzed through the prism of Public Health. Therefore, the ethnography delves beyond observation and collaboration with the therapeutic groups and the Mental Health Program. Some native categories observed during group therapy and along the meetings of the PSM led me to extend the analysis to the institutional and technical-scientific discourses that guided certain therapeutic practices. Discourses on youth with special attention to youth protagonism and health with its unfoldings about mental health and the concept of vulnerability are articulated to the configuration of a specific type of subject: the citizen.

Let G be a finite group acting freely in a Hausdorff paracompact topological space X and let Y be a k-dimensional metrizable space (or k-dimensional CW-complex). In this work, by using the genus of X; gen(X;G), we prove coincidence theorems for maps f : X ! Y . Such theorems generalize the main theorem proved by Aarts, Fokkink and Vermeer in [2]. Moreover, by using the Volovikov index defined in [39], we prove a Borsuk- Ulam theorem for compact Lie groups, which generalizes the main result proved by Biasi and Mattos in [7, 12].

Alzheimer's disease generates dependency requiring care usually provided by a relative. With the evolution of the disease, there are physical exhaustion, emotional, social and even financial support for this family. This work aimed to study primary family caregivers of patients with Alzheimer's Disease. Data were collected socio-demographic profile, apply to the inventory of the Zarit Burden Scale and Quality of Life in Alzheimer's disease - the version of care. Participated 156 caregivers, with most middle-aged women, daughters, with more than eight years of study, income of four minimum wages, providing care for up to 36 months carrier with whom the majority live and not counting with the aid of caregivers formal. The majority reported health problems, and used public health services and private. Most had mild to moderate burden and quality of life scored around good. The correlation between burden and quality of life and moderately negative (r = -0.598, p <0.000) suggests that the higher the burden the worse the quality of life.

This work consists in building, implementing and evaluating a Virtual learning Environment (VLE) as a tool to support the teaching of physics with traditional methodology, in high school, using the Moodle softares package. The environment has been structured to have the student making use of VLE during the whole school year, with the contents distributed in cycles for the three series as follows: Kinematics, Dynamics, Hydrostatics, Thermophysics, Electrostatics and Electrodynamics. The cycles have a basic structure formed by a study guides , a summary text with exercises to assimilation and deepening of contents, virtual labs, simulators and evaluation questionnaires . The use of VLE proved to be an organizer and facillitator of the study and mainly a motivation tool for students that had increased the time of study and interaction with the teacher. The activities were developed in bimodal form, where first the instructor gives a lecture and after the students perform activities at home, which allows the instructor resuming and redirecting the contents according to the performance of the students in the VLE. The increase of motivation for better learning, verified through the completion of the tasks proposed, was confirmed by results obtained in some tests answered by volunteer students. The VLE ia available at www.escolananet.com and and hosted at the site of the Graduate Program in Teaching of Exact Sciences of UFSCar.(http://www.ppgece.ufscar.br/.)

The organism Planktothrix agardhii belongs to one of the two most abundant genera in the world among the phytoplankton (the other is Microcystis sp.). Nevertheless, the genus Planktothrix is potentially toxic, producing microcystins and anotoxinas, which makes relevant knowledge of the biology of species that produce large biomass, as the case of P. agardhii, and the relationships with the communities that coexist with them. Knowledge of the composition of EPS was fundamental to the understanding of possible correlation with bacteria based on the use of EPS as a substrate. The EPS excreted by P. agardhii grown in axenic culture is a heteropolymer rich in glucose (17.04%), whose composition also have the monosaccharides: glucuronic acid 13.78%, 12.65% of fucose, from 10.95 n-acetyl galactosamine, 10.48% n-acetyl glucosamine, 7.78% of rhamnose, galactose 7.04%, 4.89% arabinose and 15.39% from other types of sugars. EPS is composed of only one fraction slightly acidic. The degradation of EPS by the bacteria in natural population of Barra Bonita reservoir started at 12 hours and was totally consumed on the 31st day of exposure. The degradation of the polysaccharide followed by gas chromatography showed a quick decrease in the amount of glucose followed by an increase in the same after the 12th day. As for glucuronic acid occurs primarily an increase in concentration, followed by a sharp decline after the 12th day. The other monosaccharides present degradation to a minimum concentration or were completely exhausted.

Expectations on inclusive education have demanded the creation of new staff roles in schools. In an inclusive school environment, an important aspect of the role of educational psychologists that seems to be a promising picture in this profession is to promote and develop strategies and guidelines for consideration and adoption of the Collaborative Consultation in the Schools, building partnership with teachers and families. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of a preventive intervention program, based in the principles of the Collaborative Consultation in Schools and the Positive Behavior Support models, designed to prevent and minimize behavior problems. The study has been conducted in three 1st. grade classrooms in a public elementary school located within the state of São Paulo, assessing three teachers of these classrooms, fifty-five pupils, and eighteen families participation. The study has been carried out in four phases. In Phase 1, the ethical procedures were followed to contact the school. In Phase 2 at the pre-test stage, participating families were asked to complete the Parenting Styles Inventory (PSI) instruments as well as the teachers were requested to complete the Child and Youth Behavior Inventory (6-18 years)/Teacher Report Form (TRF). In Phase 3, the preventive intervention program was implemented, targeting and focusing on teachers, pupils, and participating families. Finally, in Phase 4, at post-test stage, both instruments were repeated and moreover individual focal groups meetings were held with teachers and families in order to examine the social validity of the study as well as it was gathered qualitative data to analyze the effects of the previously applied intervention program. To assess the impact of the intervention, MANOVA test was applied to the results obtained with the PSI and the TRF. Regarding parenting styles, there was a statistically significant increase in the parenting style index, with respect to the positive monitoring and moral behavior, and a statistically significant decrease in relaxed discipline, and in the negative monitoring. In relation to student behavior, according to reports from teachers, there was a statistically significant decrease either in internalizing or externalizing problems, or in total problems. The results of the focal group meetings held with the families provided information about favorable and unfavorable aspects of the intervention; it was noticed positive changes in child and family behavior; it was evaluated the position of a psychologist within the school. Finally, the meetings with the teachers allowed to gather information about the characteristics of the collaboration that were included in the developed intervention; favorable and unfavorable aspects of the intervention; positive changes related to student behavior at school and their quality of life; degree of applicability of the developed strategies; evaluation of the position of a psychologist at the school.

Manual preference has been regarded as derived from innate performance advantage of one hand over the other. The main purpose of this work was to investigate the relationship between manual preference and intermanual performance asymmetry on a task of reaching for static targets in five-month-old infants. Secondary purposes were to assess the effects of spatial target position and gender on manual preference, and the relationship between the infants‟ and the parents‟ manual preference. Manual preference was evaluated through frequency of right- and left-handed reaching toward targets at right, midline and left positions, regarding the midsagittal plane of the infant‟s body. Intermanual asymmetry was assessed through kinematic analysis of reaching toward the target at the midline position. Dependent variables were the following: movement time, movement straightness, number of movement units, median velocity, peak velocity, and deceleration time. Analysis of manual preference indicated similar frequency of rightand left-handed reaching at midline and ipsilateral reaching toward lateral targets. Analysis of manual preference regarding toy positions indicated the equivalence between the incidence of infants presenting right and left manual preference. Kinematic analysis showed similar patterns of reaching between the right and left hands, except for deceleration time. Manual preference was not correlated with performance asymmetry. These results suggest that early manual preference in reaching does not derive from a superior capacity of control of one hand over the other. Manual preference was not significantly different between males and females, and it was not correlated with parents‟ manual preference. Results are discussed in terms of environmental versus genetic factors associated with formation of manual preference.

This paper presents a study on the vulnerability in terms of soil loss in a hydrographic basin, scale 1:50,000. Its main purpose is to draw up a vulnerability chart to erosion based on the themes of geomorphology, geology, soil, vegetation, land use and climate. The study area comprises the hydrographic basin of the Ribeirão do Pântano stream, a sub-basin of the Mogi-Guaçu river, which encompasses parts of the municipalities of Analândia, Descalvado and São Carlos, located in the center of the State of São Paulo. The methodological approach proposed by Crepani at al 2001, founded on the concept of Tricart's Ecodynamics, was employed to achieve the objectives of this research. The knowledge on the areas vulnerable to erosion is very important in order to elaborate a proper environmental planning, to control the occupation of the basin soil and to prevent the occurrence of erosion and soil loss in the studied area.

The FAU zeolite was obtained using different amounts of water. Both at higher levels as the lowest amount of water the intensities of the diffraction peaks are less intense. The results of physisorption of these samples suggest the presence of material not yet crystallized in this product. The scanning micrographs show large spherical particles with apparent roughness, suggesting the formation of aggregates of smaller particles. For transmission electron microscopy the results show very dense clusters, with indicative that the particles are very cohesive. The crystallization curve shows that the stabilization of the phase occurs at 8 h of synthesis at 100 ° C, be interesting to work on shorter times to prevent the growth of particles. The aging of the mixture facilitated the crystallization of the material by decreasing the induction time and particle size. In high alkalinity can be observed a decrease in the intensity of diffraction peaks and size of particles observed by SEM. Long crystallization times produce materials with high external area, about 40% higher than a commercial sample. The variation of aging time of the samples with high alkalinity shows that with three days are obtained clusters of about 100 nm are formed by crystals even smaller. Therefore, was developed a method to obtain nanocrystals of zeolite FAU, without the presence of template and using silica and alumina sources with reduced cost.
