listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Correlação entre os resultados de tração a quente e fluência para o cobre comercialmente puro(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2011-03-11) Dias, Cayo Roberto Ferreira; Bueno, Levi de Oliveira; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0333912025909549; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9437524000348564Hot tensile test data were correlated with creep data, in commercially pure copper, using a recently proposed criterion for the analysis of these two kinds of tests at high temperature. The criterion considers the equivalence between the following parameters in each case: deformation rate, ultimate tensile stress, time taken to reach the ultimate tensile stress, in tensile tests respectively with: minimum creep rate, applied stress, rupture time, in creep tests, at a certain test temperature. In tension, the material was tested in the temperature range from 250 to 550°C, using constant deformation rates varying from 1x10-5 s-1 to 0.208 s-1. In creep the temperature range varied from 250 to 525°C with stresses varying from 7.5 to 60 MPa at constant load. The conversion of the hot tensile data to creep data made possible the common analysis of all the results according to typical relations pro-posed by several authors in creep literature: Norton, Arrhenius, Zener-Hollomon and Monkman-Grant, with determination of the corresponding parameters in each case. The data were also analyzed according to four different parameterization methods commonly mentioned in the traditional creep literature for data extrapolation: Larson-Miller, Orr-Sherby- Dorn, Manson-Succop and Manson-Haferd. With exception of the Larson-Miller method, all the attempts for data correlation of hot tensile and creep tests produced excellent results. In addition to the correlation between these two kind of tests, a detailed analysis of the results of hot tensile and creep tests was carried out, separately, with discussion of the mechanical behavior of the commercially pure copper in each case.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, O envolvimento de idosos em atividades prazerosas: a adaptação transcultural de um instrumento(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2011-03-11) Ferreira, Heloísa Gonçalves; Barham, Elizabeth Joan; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9868595523538592; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0481517225958265The sense of pleasure that arises from engagement in activities is of fundamental importance for the wellbeing of the elderly. Studies indicate that involvement in pleasant activities acts as a mediator variable in the prevention and treatment of mental disorders, in addition to predicting physical and psychological wellbeing. According to the literature reviewed to develop this study, research on this topic in Brazil is just beginning, and there is not yet an instrument, validated for use in Brazil, to evaluate the involvement of elderly people in pleasant activities. An American instrument was located in the international literature (The California Older Person s Pleasant Events Schedule - COPPES), which evaluates the frequency with which elderly people are engaged in pleasant activities and the degree of pleasure they associate with each activity. Based on its strong psychometric qualities, the inclusion of a measure to determine how each respondent felt about each activity, the ease with which the scale can be understood, and given that the items appeared to be relevant for the Brazilian culture, this instrument was selected to submit to the first steps of a cultural adaptation process, for use in Brazil. The primary objective of this study was to conduct a transcultural adaptation study (semantic equivalence, conceptual equivalence, cultural equivalence, idiomatic equivalence, operational equivalence and measurement equivalence) to prepare this instrument for use in Brazil. The main results indicate that: a) the semantic equivalence of the translated versus the original version is satisfactory; b) the items are relevant to the Brazilian cultural context and evaluate the dimensions identified by the original instrument; c) the indicator of internal consistency for the frequency and pleasantness subscales varied between very good and excellent, providing strong evidence for the internal validity of this scale; d) the frequency subscale scores were significantly correlated with the depression scores, indicating good external validity for the adapted version of this instrument. Hopefully, the new version of this instrument will contribute to research, planning, and the evaluation of preventive intervention strategies focused on promoting the wellbeing of the elderly, in Brazil.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, O problema antropológico em Michel Foucault(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2011-03-11) Miotto, Marcio Luiz; Fonseca, Thelma Silveira da Mota Lessa da; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9198448859299003Cette recherche de doctorat est le résultat d'un projet plus vaste intitulé «La Question de la Mort de l'Homme et de la Psychologie selon Michel Foucault». We have studied magneto-transport and polarized resolved photoluminescence from GaAs quantum well and contact layers as a function of applied voltage and magnetic _eld parallel to the tunnel current. Three resonant peaks are observed in the current-voltage characteristics curve and are associated to the resonant tunneling through the bound state of a shallow donor impurity in the quantum well (donor-assisted resonant tunneling), the electron resonant tunneling through the _rst con_ned state in the quantum well and the phonon-assisted tunneling. The contact layer and the quantum well emissions were investigated as a function of applied bias at 15 T. The optical emission from GaAs contact layers shows evidence of highly spin polarized two-dimensional electron (2DEG) and hole (2DHG) gases which a_ects the spin polarization of carriers in the QW. The quantum well (QW) photoluminescence presents strong circular polarization with values up to 85% in 15 T at low applied voltages (at the donor assisted resonant tunneling condition) and for low laser intensities. Our results may be interesting for the developing of new voltage-controlled spintronics devices.
