    This paper aims to verify if there was improvement in the Performance Management of an organization that uses for more than five years a Performance Management System, denominated Balanced Scorecard. It's necessary to verify if the use of the Balanced Scorecard in this period of time, improved the management system of the organization, transforming the strategy into several operational execution processes. The development of this investigation was grounded in bibliographic references, to identify and evaluate the whole process of Strategy, Planning and Performance Measurement System, as well the involvement of all the stakeholders.

    In this work, ferroelectric domain structure was investigated by Piezoresponse Force Microscopy (PFM). To this, an Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) has been modified to use it as PFM at room temperature and at high temperatures. Ferroelectric ceramics were used in the as bulk ceramic samples of Pb(Zr0,40Ti0,60)O3 (PZT 40/60) and (Pb0,79La0,21)TiO3 (PLT 21) produced by conventional methods. Nanostructured materials of Pb(Zr0,40Ti0,60)O3 (PZT 40/60) and Pb(Zr0,20Ti0,80)O3 (PZT 20/80) prepared respectively by sputtering and oxide precursors method were also studied. In a bulk ceramic PZT 40/60 was observed patterns of ferroelectric domain in twins configuration and built a three-dimensional model of its structure. The behavior of the polarization through the domain walls of 90o and 180o was investigated and widths of domains walls were estimated to be about 29 nm and 75 nm, respectively. In nanostructured samples PZT 40/60 and PZT 20/80, piezoelectric hysteresis remaining cycles, obtained by local measurements on different grains, shown a strong influence between the crystallographic orientation and the remanent polarization in each grain. Studies of polarization reorienting performed by ferroelectric lithography PFM revealed that the vertical component of the polarized material depends only on the vertical direction of the applied electric field, while the component parallel to the surface of the sample depends on the movement of the tip on its surface. This allows a procedure to control the orientation of these two components in the material. It was accompanied by images of PFM developments ferroelectric domains of ceramic PLT 21 (TC ~ 125oC) at high temperatures. The surface of the sample showed ferroelectric characteristics even at temperatures of 142°C. The results showed that the intensity of the polarization in the regions with a domain pattern decreases with increasing temperature.

    Fatores críticos da competitividade da cadeia produtiva do ovo no estado de São Paulo

    Brazil is the second greatest world producer of eggs; the production value of the egg ranks 13th among the agricultural products in the country. The Brazilian export of eggs is still incipient, but, the production potential is great since there are positive points such the climate, space, input availability and technology. It was aimed through this work to report the functioning, to investigate the role of the several economic agents and identify the critical determinants of the competitiveness of the production chain of the egg in the state of São Paulo. The methodology utilized was done through the evaluation of the competitiveness drivers with the aid of questionnaires, ascribing values of very unfavorable, neutral, favorable and very favorable to a series of sub-factors. Seven competitiveness drivers of greatest impact in the sector were selected, namely: firm management, technology, inputs, market structure, chain governance, infrastructure and institutional setting. Out of these factors were ascribed sub-factors which were evaluated and advised the survey and the analysis of the results. By means of the rapid appraisal methodology were interviewed key-agents of the chain as well obtained data in secondary sources. The interviews were directed towards the agents of the production chain link and agents of the sectoral organization of the state of São Paulo. It follows that the drivers who contribute towards the competitiveness of the production chain of eggs were both technology and firm management which have the control degree by the firm while the others remain neutral, not contributing to competitiveness. The cost of inputs, mainly the corn and the freight value, were sub-factors unfavorable to the production chain.

    The development of new methods for analysis and quantification of drugs and their metabolites in biological fluids is of great interest in various areas of knowledge. The pre-treatment of complex matrices is a fundamental step for the quantification of compounds in trace levels. Methods of direct injection of samples by 2D liquid chromatography systems have led to higher precision and accuracy, and quantification limits ever smaller. The use of RAM columns allows the exclusion of proteins and other macromolecules present in biological matrix and extraction of lower molecular weight analytes through hydrophobic, ionic or affinity interactions. In this work, a number of different RAM columns were evaluated with different materials adsorbed or bound on the silica surface (BSA, methylcellulose and - lactoglobulin). As well as, columns with different modes and mechanism of the analytes retention (C8, C18, SAX, SCX) were used. Using the technique of column coupling and a mass spectrometer as detector, ampicillin, was quantified, in bovine milk samples having a RAM-BSA column, in the first dimension coupled to an ACQUITY UPLC BEH column, in the second dimension. MRM mode with three specific transitions, 350> 106, 350> 160 and 350> 192 m/z, were monitored. The first, more intense, was used for quantification while the other two were used for confirmation. The developed method is simple, with analysis time of 14 minutes without any pretreatment of samples, except for centrifugation.

    When a group of patients is monitored until a pre-established date for observation of the recurrence time of an event, it is possible that, at the end of the monitoring period, a parcel of such group has not yet suffered the event of interest. When that happens, even if the period is extended, there is evidence that an appropriate model for the theoretical survival function of the time until the event occurs would be one model able to bear this kind of data. This class of long duration models will be defined because the form presented by the nonparametric estimation of hazard function in this type of study indicates that the model should be flexible to allow such function to be increasing, decreasing, constant or U-shaped. In this report, we present the long duration modified Weibull model (LDMW) as a proposal to contemplate the issues in the medicine area. The LDMW model has a flexible hazard curve, which enables adjustment when the hazard is decreasing, increasing, U-shaped, unimodal, initially decreasing and posteriorly unimodal and constant. The report also particularizes models already known in the literature that contemplate long duration, such as the long duration Weibull (LDW), long duration Exponential (LDE) and short duration models, such as the modified Weibull (MW), Weibull and Exponential. The simulations showed that the odds of coverage reach the nominal probability of 95% for moderately to big sized samples, that the LDMW p model parameters estimation is costless when compared to the MW and that the selection criteria of the AIC and BIC models are not adequate to discriminate the LDMW model adjustment when compared to the LDW model adjustment for small or moderately sized samples. The LDMW model and its particular cases were adjusted into two sets of real data considering the Classic and Bayesian Inference. The first data set is about the time until the seroreversion of children born from HIV-positive mothers and the second data set is about the recurrence time of breast cancer in women.
