Marketing and Logistics have a high need for integration because they compose contact points that influence the synchrony of operations with market needs. The literature in this area predominantly focuses on the elements that generate integration, and the correlation of those elements with functional and organizational results. However, there is a theoretical gap related to the characterization of the inter-functional integration dynamics between Marketing and Logistics and the integration elements. This research aimed to characterize the interfunctional integration dynamics between Marketing and Logistics. The elements that compose the integration dynamics are identified and characterized. The key elements related to inter-functional integration dynamics that were identified in the literature include contact points, integration factors, integration level, formality/informality of integration processes, and integration impacts. In order to better characterize these elements, five case studies were conducted in manufacturing companies, from different industries: Chassis and Wheels, Agriculture Chemicals, Beverages, Soybean Oil and derivates, Oral Care Products. The indepth interviews considered both Marketing and Logistics perspectives. The analysis identified similarities and differences in the characteristics of the Marketing and Logistics inter-functional integration dynamics. Practical definitions were established for contact points, integration factors, integration levels, integration formality/informality, and impacts generated by integration. The investigation of these elements within organizations may facilitate integration efforts between Marketing and Logistics, reducing conflicts and improving the companies' performance.

(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2011-12-09) Rossi, Talita Naiara; Menegon, Nilton Luiz; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5461487552981919; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4710211875870294
The growth of passengers air transport as well as the competitiveness of the aviation industry have made the comfort a noticeable item to be taken into account, which is characterized as a key variable for the cabin project and also for the differentiation in the market, once it is related to the passengers satisfaction and acceptance when it comes to this transportation modality. In this context, the in-flight entertainment has been considered one of the most relevant requisite in order to improve the comfort while in the cabin in a way that it enhances values of the airline companies, contributing for a more pleasant and also a rather positive air travel experience. Thereby the aim of this study is to understand the aspects of either comfort or discomfort in airplane cabins, exchanging views on the importance of entertainment activities on board as well as their influence on comfort and discomfort in the cabin. Firstly, based on the literature review it made possible to clearly understand the concepts of comfort and discomfort including the current possibilities of in-flight entertainment. Considering comfort as an outstanding and suitable point to be applied in the cabin, this study is grounded in the approach of the analysis of the activity. As such, the data collection was implemented in two contexts: survey of Brazilian commercial aviation (airports and domestic flights) and interviews with companies connected with the entertainment industry and air transport sector. The procedures adopted have permitted to identify the active travellers preferences and expectations when it comes to in-flight entertainment, what is more, the constraints during the activities occurred in the cabin and tendency of the industry in question. Some recommendations for the project were made, highlighting, mainly, the importance of the amenities in the aircraft cabin for the travelers to use their own devices during the flight.

The Product Development Process (PDP) is a critical process because it is subject to innovation and competitive strategy of companies. The furniture industry of the micro-region of Votuporanga, consisting primarily of micro, small and medium sized companies is relatively new, and has a significant weight in the local economy, generating jobs and income. This research studies the PDP in the furniture sector of the micro-region of Votuporanga, placed in a cluster with the aim to identify the essential properties of this business process in order to establish its dynamic, technological and managerial vulnerabilities and strengths as well as the future prospects of the sector for meeting the challenges of competitiveness and innovation policy. From the scientific point of view, it draws a parallel between the theory and practice of product development in companies with limited manpower and financial resources. Thus, it considers the activity of the product development process in the context of the furniture industry as a study to attempt to confirm or refute hypotheses about the characteristics of PDP in small Brazilian companies. The descriptive and exploratory survey method was applied by a structured questionnaire with closed questions. The research instrument was developed and validated in a pilot study of ten companies. Statistical techniques were used to select the sample and analyze the data due to the large number of variables studied, so the statistical tools recommended and used were the descriptive and multivariate techniques. It was possible to confirm the weakness of the organizational structure of SMEs from the analysis and the constructs examined, wich generally adopt non-formal and imitative strategies with centralized administration based on owner s control. The success of the new product introductions depends on the tacit experience of those involved in product development.

Estudo do eletropolimento galvanostático de aço inoxidável AISI 304 utilizando soluções ácidas concentradas
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2011-12-09) Veroli, Alyne Bernardes; Bocchi, Nerilso; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5930614700886481; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8753770491945937
Stainless steel has been the subject of numerous studies due to technological and economic importance. Features such as durability, corrosion and high temperatures resistances confer to the steel relevant applications in several industrial sectors. Thus, the study of methodologies for chemical and electrochemical polishing, instead of mechanical polishing, has been increasing due to improved surface quality of these steels by not introducing contaminants and/or tension in the superficial layers of the metal, making them microscopically smooth, passive and anticorrosive. Therefore, in this work, the process of electrochemical polishing of AISI 304 stainless steel in solutions of concentrated sulfuric acid (H2SO4 also used in the coloring process of these steels) and phosphoric-sulfuric mixed acids (H3PO4 and H2SO4 2:1) containing glycerol was studied using the galvanostatic method (constant current). Factorial design was used to optimize the main process parameters such as concentration of the acid solution, current density, temperature, electrolysis time and additive content. The surface quality of steel samples was evaluated by spectral reflectance. Some steel samples electropolished or not (steel samples as received) were also characterized by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The statistical model generated for the electropolishing process of steel in solution of H2SO4 did not fit well (R2 = 0.75) to the experimental results. Among all the electrolysis, the one that produced a steel surface with the highest percentage value of reflectance (R = 71%) was performed in the following experimental conditions: [H2SO4] = 9 mol L-1, i = 0.6 A cm-2, θ = 55 ° C and t = 7.5 min. In these conditions the corrosion rate of steel samples was 0.33 mm h-1 and the process energy consumption was 3.0 kW h m-2 for an average cell potential of 4.0 V. On the other hand, the statistical model generated for the electropolishing process of steel in solution of H3PO4 and H2SO4 2:1 containing glycerol fitted reasonable (R2 = 0.93) to the experimental results. The punctual optimal conditions were: H2SO4 and H3PO4 2:1 containing 25% glycerol and kept at 30 ° C, i = 1.0 A cm-2 and t = 8 min. In these conditions, the surfaces of the steel samples showed R values of 70 %. The corrosion rate of steel samples was 0.19 mm h-1 and the process energy consumption was 23 kW h m-2 for an average cell potential of 17 V. From AFM images, the calculated values of average surface roughness factor (Ra) were 139 ± 20 nm for steel samples as received (R = 58%) and between 20 and 75 nm for steel samples electropolished. The SEM images for these latter samples revealed the different crystallographic orientations of the AISI 304 austenitic stainless steel.

The influence of subsurface dams in semi-arid agro-ecosystem sustainability must be studied from a systemic perspective to evaluate the dynamic sociopolitical, cultural, economic and environmental involving farmers as actors in the research. The farmers also perform the non-agricultural activities seeking to generate more income for the family, and thus enable social reproduction, economic and environmental, not taking away its rural identity. We used qualitative methods based on participation facilitated by the tools of methods Participatory Rural Appraisal - PRA and the Evaluating the sustainability of Integrated Peasantry Systems MESMIS Framework, in order to assess the sustainability of two properties with subsurface dams in semiarid region of Paraíba State, Brazil. It was found from the perception of families, the 01 Property, Family Santos, got a reasonable level of sustainability (3.1), from the average 3.4, 2.8, and 3.0 obtained for the dimensions environmental, social and economic, respectively. While 02 Property, Family Lira reached a good level, with overall mean 4.1, obtained through the medium, 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3, for environmental, social and economic, respectively. Quantitative indicators for the assessment of physical, chemical and biological soil proved to be efficient in comparison with subsurface dam environments (BS) under the conventional system and native, were observed higher levels of OM accumulation in the area of the BS and increased microbial activity in the native forest. The families participating in the study, although they are soon in the process of agroecological transition, progress toward a more sustainable agroecosystem, and the subsurface dam as a potential technology to improve and balance the ecological processes of the production system of family farming semiarid.

In this research, we study lot sizing problems with decisions on product distribution and, also, problems that integrate lot sizing decisions and product packing in the vehicles (bins). In general, these problems involve a trade-off among production costs, holding costs and distribution costs. The lot sizing problems consider limitations in the production capacity and demand delivery deadline. The distribution decisions are related to the product loading into the unit load device (pallets, containers or trucks). The packing problems may involve one, two or three dimensions relevant to the product loading. The problems are modeled by mathematical programming and solved by the branch-and-cut method of an optimization package, and then, the performance and the results obtained are analyzed. Furthermore, heuristic methods are specifically developed in order to provide an approximate solution for these problems. The heuristic methods are built according to the lagrangian relaxation and ant colony optimization. All the methods are tested and evaluated, regarding the solutions found by the optimization package for the proposed models.

This research aimed to study the activity of the HLB's scouts, workers whose function is to identify symptomatic plants, in order to understand the physical constraints, cognitive and organizational involved in accomplishing the task, characterizing the operative approach used to identify diseased plants, and to elucidate what aspects hinder the identification of symptoms. The method adopted for the research was the Ergonomic Analysis of Work EAW (Güérin et al., 2001). The results, after validation with the operators and management, allowed understanding the complex relationships between the physical, cognitive and organizational aspects present on activity. Major difficulties were observed mainly in relation to the disposal of the scouts on the platforms and in relation to working hours, at the beginning and end of the journey. Important findings have highlighted strategies, unknown by the organization, used by scouts to locate candidates‟ trees to the fine analysis of investigation of symptoms. In conclusion, the analysis enable to understand the constraints and find technical and organizational solutions to the survey work on citrus groves as well as it showed signs and symptoms not investigated yet or rarely considered by researchers involved on searches aimed at increasing the ability to diagnose the disease in the field.
