Objective: To evaluate the chondrocytes apoptosis by caspase 3 expression and its relation with the knee articular cartilage thickness and cellularity, at the acute phase after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) transection, as the experimental model of osteoarthritis (OA). Material and Methods: Seventy two male Wistars rats were divided into 3 groups: ACL transection group (ACLT); control group (C); and sham group (S). Each group was subdivided into 4 subgroups: 24h, 48h, 72h and 1 week, according to the period following the procedures performed. The medial condiles of the left knees were processed in paraffin and stained with HE for cartilage thickness and cellularity analysis, by morphometry. Caspase 3 expression was evaluated through immunohistochemical method. Statistical analysis was performed by using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test to assess the normality of the data, and then ANOVA with post hoc Duncan. Results: There was no statistical difference for articular cartilage thickness and cellularity between the groups. Regarding the caspase 3 expression, the C had smaller expression than the other groups. The ACLT 24h and ACLT 48h groups had increased expression of caspase-3 than their respective C and S. The ACLT 72h was not different from S 72h, and presented a lower caspase 3 expression compared to the other groups. The ACLT 7days and S 7days groups had higher expression than any other group. Conclusion: The chondrocyte apoptosis present since the OA beginning, using the ACL transection model of OA, however the articular cartilage thickness and cellularity changes can be modified at a later stage.

Análise de sistemas mistos de concreto armado e alvenaria

This study has the aim to analyze, from numerical analysis in finite elements, the behavior of masonry walls of bricks and closing blocks together with structural elements of reinforced concrete, in situations in which masonry and concrete collaborate in the support of the building. The analysis were made based on the diagram of tensions, where it was possible to observe the places with concentration of tensions and their form of distribution, and the parameters with influence on the behavior of the structure. On this analysis, several parameters involved in the composite systems of reinforced concrete and masonry were studied: the modulus of longitudinal deformation of the masonry; the presence and dimension of cracks, lintels and sills, beams and pillars; and models with ideal ties and where the walls join. Besides this, preliminary design of the concrete structure and masonry was carried out. The results of the analysis indicated that the presence of concrete elements together with the masonry results in a more uniform distribution of the tensions, besides having been observed a reduction of 50% in the compression tensions at the bottom of the wall for the model with concrete pillars. It was also verified that in the complete model, with pillars and beams, the beam presents a different behavior from a reticulated structure, indicating that the wall ends up serving it as a distributed support. In the preliminary design, it was noted that, without pillars and beam, the required resistance of the prism is compatible only for structural components. But in the case of beam, besides observing the difference among the models of calculation used and the real behavior of the structure, this element may not present the resistance and/or necessary security for the hypothesis of simply supported beam for the conditions that were admitted here. Regarding this study, it is important to emphasize that there is no intention of defending this type of structure, but rather analyse how it behaves before the actions.

In a society governed by consumption, the desire for beauty is linked to the concepts of contemporary history; this concept has been transformed into a variety of beauty products for fitness and body available on store shelves, designed to help achieve these standards of beauty; people experience pressure to fit into the social ideals of beauty and they are affected both physically and psychologically; the promotion of these ideologies remains a powerful predictor of consumption patterns of individuals with respect to goods, services and products; the perception of beauty is not only determined by the outcome of genetic or biological processes but is also the privileged access to these resources. This exacerbated concern about physical beauty is evidenced in most physical activities, as they allow for a clear perception of body shape. Given that the learning processes in congenitally blind people are different from those who have visual sensations, there was a concern about that, in a world governed essentially by visual shapes and formulated conceptions, people with blindness could show concepts about beauty, rejecting or accepting the standards / models of beauty historically accepted and validated. Thus, this qualitative and descriptive study was aimed at investigating and understanding the social definition of beauty from the perceptions of people with congenital blindness; and, moreover, this article explains, discusses and examines the effects of these perceptions and evaluations of the other person in terms of physical attributes among individuals related to the social environment, from the own voices of these teenagers. A structured interview was adopted to gather data, which were recorded and transcribed in full and allowed for the qualitative analysis of the entire contents through content analysis. A study was carried out in cooperation with two Regional Boards of Education in the central region of the State of São Paulo and three teenagers with congenital blindness enrolled in high school were selected. The results pointed out the generalized and sublimated way that beauty is seized, internalized and recognized by blind people through the day-to-day practices. Goodness, kindness, gentleness, serenity, respect, courtesy, tenderness, and other moral, social and ethical characteristics were materialized in the beauty, suggesting a positive correlation between beauty and goodness and / or what is good. Voice perception is especially important for blind individuals in allowing them to recognize other people and their aims, and also enable them to evaluate their beauty. Other personal items such as clothing, perfume and personal hygiene practices were also regarded, to a lesser degree, as important items and components to help define beauty. One can find that there is a dissociation between beauty and body, so that the recent (but not so new) phenomenon of the cult of the body, when people make efforts to get in shape and achieve a vigorous, young, toned, symmetrical body, seems not to permeate the senses about ideas, behaviors and perspectives of people with blindness. Finally, language plays important roles in defining body as the image that an individual has of his or her body and other people s bodies, and is likewise used to create symbols, meanings and definitions of beauty, especially in situations where tactile exploration is not possible or allowed, as is the case of another person s body.

This methodological study aimed to develop and validate educational material and illustrative writing for men with urinary indwelling catheters at home. We conducted a literature review on guidelines related to the theme proposed for the content of the material. Nineteen articles were included in the review, fourteen studies selected from PubMed, CINAHL and 2 in 3 in LILACS. It was used as theoretical framework health literacy and health education and as methodological framework, the model of content validation of diagnostic proposed by Fehring (1987) and the assessment of the Suitability assessment of educational materials. The educational material consists of a brief introduction entitled Catheter care at home, and 32 guidelines organized into 10 thematic categories: body care, urinary catheter care and the collection bag, emptying the collection bag, when I should use gloves, fixing probe, care about liquids and food, sexual activity, care in relation to return to activities, to whom was undergone prostate surgery, and warning signs. We carried out the content and appearance validation of the material with 30 experts and all guidelines were validated with the final score greater than or equal to 0.8. Most experts assessed positively the appearance of the material, with an average of 89.7% of positive responses on 16 items assessed. Despite the use of numerical scales for the validation of the content and yes and not for answers in the appearance validation, it was shown that in such a study, the availability of spaces for the experts to give an opinion has proved of great value for improving the quality of the material. The experts contributed with suggestions for improved presentation of the material and illustrations, suggestions for terms commonly used by customers and questions about the adequacy of guidance and illustrations given. The guidelines have been reorganized and obtained 27 guidelines divided into 10 thematic categories, as well as introductory content. The results can provide the base for nursing practice and allow to perform new studies in clinical validation in order to obtain evidence about the impact of using this kind of material in achieving positive outcomes with clients, as well the possibility of subsidizing the development of protocols and / or specific plans of care and thus possibly facilitate nursing activities and consequently improve the recovery and quality of life of the clients.

ABSTRACT Remanufacturing is an important source of sustainable development. Remanufactured products provide quality standards of new products with low cost. In addition, remanufacturing companies represent a potential growth in employment, as are intensive in manpower due to the operations of disassembly, reconditioning and reassembly. Due to the unique characteristics of the remanufacturing process, it clearly has many differences compared to conventional manufacturing. These characteristics, which makes it a complex activity, requiring a good performance of the activities of the Production Planning and Control (PPC). In this research we intend to cope with PPC, specifically for the automotive parts remanufacturing, one of the most representative of the category in Brazil. The research objectives are to identify the main characteristics and challenges of remanufacturing auto parts, with respect to PPC, identifying the main features, management tools and challenges of remanufacturing in the literature with regard to PPC, and propose a model / method to fill the identified gaps about the difficulties in practice and literature on PPC in remanufacturing. The proposed method, to fill one of the gaps identified, is to perform the disassembly master production scheduling considering stochastic routings. Thus, the results of this study contribute effectively to the development of theory and practical application with respect to PPC in remanufacturing.

Alongside with the establishment of the Brazilian Social Security, the Professional Rehabilitation of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) has been created. It aims to provide its beneficiaries, partially or totally incapacitated for work, the indicated means to reenter the labor market and the context in which they live. This study intended to understand, identify and comprehend, from the perspective of occupational therapists, practices and conceptions that have been delineated by the profession in the area of Professional Rehabilitation at INSS, in the state of Sao Paulo. Based on a survey and an analysis of bibliographical and documental material on the theme in general and at the Institute in particular, the empirical research made use of a questionnaire applied with 40 of the 43 occupational therapists who act in the state. In-depth interviews were conducted with 6 of these participants. Also an interview with another occupational therapist, who works at INSS since 1980, was conducted in order to collect background data about the Professional Rehabilitation as well as the insertion of occupational therapy at the Institute. The resulting data of the questionnaires provided a general prospect of conceptions and practices of occupational therapists in the studied field and were related to those collected in the interviews. This allowed for the deepening of the themes, providing opportunities for further reflection and discussion about them. The main findings allow us to state: occupational therapists are amidst the construction of a new professional identity at INSS; most of them deemed to have taken specific actions of occupational therapy at the Institute and point out the job analysis and the evaluation of compatibility of the proposed new functions for the insured workers in this specificity. The therapist-patient relationship was indicated like fundamental to their practice. Overall, they identify series of factors that would implicate an evaluation more negative than positive about their performance at the Institute, caused principally by structural questions of the Program of Professional Rehabilitation, what is independent of them. However, they still keep the belief in the improvement of this structure, claiming for the need to increase the possibilities offered by even greater participation and accountability by companies, the construction of joint work with other sectors of society and government, as well as for the redesigning and expansion of the legislation that deals with professional rehabilitation in Brazil.

Daily life has been a subject of interest for specialists of several areas of knowledge, with different purposes. The increasing valorization of this theme reflected in different kinds of theoretical studies and theories because of its relevance. Considering the complexity in the (re)construction process of daily life, the occupational therapist should have a more precise monitoring about the organization of the activities and the assessment process. It is necessary to take care of the individual s place and satisfaction on this organization. People with development disorders have their daily life altered. This happens to children suffering from cerebral palsy. The objective of this study is to describe and compare the daily life aspects of 19 children with cerebral palsy and 19 children who have typical development, related by the children s routine, leisure, personal care, school and , educational and therapeutic activities. To achieve this goal, a general description of every child was made according to data obtained at interviews and the use of an Activities Clock used by the organizers (the goal was to investigate how the child s daily life is organized). According to the results obtained it is possible to verify that the children with cerebral palsy have more dependency in day life activities, lesser diversity of companion, lesser diversity of places to go and lesser leisure, when compared to children with typical development. The obtained results presented and discussed in this study could contribute in increasing the knowledge about the daily life of children with or without deficiencies, their main similarities and differences, as well as in pointing to new researches that are needed within this area.

It is known by the entire scientific community the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) on breastfeeding, ie, all babies should be breastfed exclusively with breast milk from birth to age six months and after this period, children should continue to be breastfed, along with complementary foods up to two years or more. However, research confirms that Brazil is still below the level recommended by WHO, ie, we have in alarming prevalence of early weaning in our capitals and the Federal District. Thus, early weaning is the focus of our study, being considered as the complete interruption of breastfeeding before six months of baby's life. The aim of this study was to identify with women who weaned their children early, transformers and exclusores aspects of breastfeeding and early weaning. The theoretical and methodological framework was composed of Dialogic Learning, Feminism and Methodology Dialogical Communicative Critique. This is a qualitative study, conducted in various districts of the city of Itirapina / SP in the period 2010 to 2011. Participants were 12 mothers who weaned their children early, before six months old infant and has not passed three months of weaning due to possible oblivion information. Data were collected from questionnaires, interviews, field diary and discussion group communication. The socioeconomic profile of the mothers collected from questionnaires were analyzed using the program Microsoft Office Excel 2007 and qualitative data from the basic level of analysis proposed by the Communicative Method, pointing out the aspects transformers and obstacles in the experience of breastfeeding and weaning early. The socioeconomic profile of the mothers were: young people, aged 20-29 years, married (42%), the majority had completed secondary technical education (59%), most of the mothers worked outside the home (67%) and were primiparous (75%). The qualitative results allow us to conclude that maternal employment and labor laws were exclusores factors, the understanding that the nipple protrusion is essential for breastfeeding was also an aspect exclusor, but it deserves further study. The identification of increased financial expenses of the family with weaning was transformative capacity for reflection and highlights of the mothers, breastfeeding is a practice socialized since childhood highlights the biological character, but the affinity for the breastfeeding rescues the right to make choices and be respected for being different. The pleasure in breastfeeding was the function of being submissive mother and give up this feeling and "take the pain" for the health of the child. Such perceptions make us reflect how society loses by not listening, silence voices and even judge the proposals of the mothers rather than trying to make sense of them.

The development of new materials has been a major focus of modern science. In order to obtain materials with desired features, studies about synthesis are necessary for a better understanding of their synthetic processes. In this light and in search for new materials in heterogeneous photocatalysis, a challenge is to understand the synthetic processes by the investigation of synthesis variables. Thus, this thesis presents the synthesis of Ti oxide nanostructures (pure or associated with Sn oxide) through the alkaline hydrothermal method. Some variables such as precursor, base concentration, temperature and time of hydrothermal treatment were studied. In the syntheses of co-precipitated Ti and Sn oxides, the formation of Sn oxide occurred only under mild alkaline conditions, since high alkalinity caused the Sn dissolution. In the evaluation of precursor type, peroxytitanium complexes (PTCs) showed excellent characteristics to obtain titanate phases in mild alkaline conditions, since the process of titanate formation from PTC occurred without the complete degradation of its initial structure. In the study about temperature and time of synthesis, the temperature of hydrothermal treatment was the most important synthetic parameter. With respect to the photocatalytic tests of synthesized materials, the crystalline phase was the most important factor. The titanates showed higher specific surface area and higher concentration of hydroxyl groups, whereas the photoactivities were lower. The low photoactivities of titanates were attributed to the majority presence of fivecoordinated titanium species (TiO5). In this study, the hexa-coordinated titanium (TiO6) was considered the main active site for photocatalytic processes.

This work recovers the author s effective practice as the pedagogical coordinator in a school where booklets are used in its teaching system. The coordination happened during the school year of 2010 and the first semestre in 2011. There was not, initially, any pretension of transforming the effective professional activity into an object of analysis and reflection. As a result, the recovery of developed actions was made later through narrative, recovery of documents and interviews with the teachers involved in the process. Transforming one s own experience into an object of study has placed forward two methodological issues: the action research and the narrative investigation. There are things put into action, there is rememoration of action. This work crosses paths with the methodological investigation of both perspectives. The professional work had two great thinkers as references: Freinet and Bakhtin. The invariables and the Freinetian pedagogical instruments were recalled in the exposition due to their key role in the professional activity which was developed and analysed; the dialogic principles and the principles of the relationship with the alterity as a constituent form of the subjectivities have oriented the relationships with the teachers who participated in the research. For that reason they were recalled as a theoretical basis for the work. The look based on those two authors allowed the researcher to find the existing gaps in a school where bookets were used for pedagogical actions distinct from those expected by the system. Other possibilities of work in the classroom and at school were gradually built during the mentioned period by the author, who chose to do so instead of exercising the role of coordinator within the predicted limits of activity control. The actions with two teachers from the second year of the fundamental level (with children in the process of alphabetization) are related and analysed showing a recalling process by the teachers in their pedagogical practice. This, however, crucially depends on concrete support in other possibilities of action, which leads to the conclusion that the teacher only faces the challenge when he feels his feet are on solid ground, a motto of Freinet s pedagogy. Building an environment of transition with feet on solid ground was the task of the pedagogical coordination which demanded from the professional the exercise of a job pedagogically supported by a conception of education in order to supply students and teachers with bases for their highest , though somehow uncertain, expectations.

The work aims to develop an indicator of development considering variables that represent the dimensions: social, environmental, economic, political and cultural. We chose the 108 municipalities in the state of Sao Paulo considered high HDI (indicator above 0.8). The data used are from Seade for the year 2000, since this was the last year of publication of the HDI for municipalities. The methodology used in constructing the indicator will be the factor analysis, since shown that this method is appropriate when there is a significant number of variables involved. After calculation of the indicator is checked if there was a change in the pattern of development of the municipalities analyzed. Also noteworthy is that this study will be drawn maps to represent the spatial distribution of municipalities according to the classification in each dimension that makes up the index and also for the Comprehensive Development Index (IDAM).

Mortalidade juvenil em São Carlos, SP, de 2000 a 2010: uma década de mudança?

Preoccupation about youth mortality by external causes has been a constant theme for the last decades in Brazil, because, according to Violence Map 2010, youthful homicide rate changed from 30 in 100.000 youths in 1980 to 50,1 in 2007. A better understanding of this scenario is necessary, in special in São Carlos (SP), city known to have the lower index of vulnerability against youths in 2010 (IBGE). So the research s aim was to analyze youth mortality data by external causes (traffic accidents, suicide, homicide and police shock) in São Carlos between the years 2000 and 2010 and municipal public policies which could contribute with IBGE s award. It was used the following methodological procedures: bibliographic research; data collection related to youths died by external causes at Health Information Center (CIS) in São Carlos; quantitative analysis of collected data; and interviews with municipal secretaries from 2001 to 2010. From epidemiological informations obtained and interviews with municipal managers it was verified that is not possible to set a corrrelation from public policies and youth mortality reduction in São Carlos in the last eleven years.

(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2012-02-28) Back, Adalberto Gregório; Vargas, Marcelo Coutinho; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7945490786499120
This study aims to understand the process of formation and incorporation of climate agenda in environmental and urban policy areas of São Paulo, including contextualizing and the formulation of the law that established the Climate Change Policy in São Paulo (Law 14,933 of June 5, 2009). To do so, based on theoretical assumptions of agenda-setting, we will hold: a literature review of international literature on the mode of action of ICLEI's CCP campaign, qualitative analysis of interviews with some actors who participated in the formulation of the law; survey of the actions converging local municipality to tackling global climate change, and analysis of organizations and instruments created by law. We found that the climate agenda is being built gradually in urban and environmental policy of the city of São Paulo, since 2003, when the municipality joined the Cities Campaign for Climate Protection of Transnational Network of Local Governments, ICLEI and as a result, produced its first inventory of greenhouse gases emissions (GHGs). With the publication of the inventory in 2005, the City received indications of its priorities regarding GHG mitigation. We identified that between the years 2005 to 2007, the political actions in dealing with an interface to local causes and consequences of climate change were expanded in São Paulo. The implementation of urban and environmental policies with climate agenda provided a political learning that led to the formulation of the law 14,933. The law, in turn, provided an institutional legacy that structure the definition of policy problems, policy formulation and the influence of outside groups for the continued inclusion of the climate agenda in the formulation of policies in the municipality.

The principal objective of this thesis is to bring the debate between communitarianism and liberalism into the context of popular education, proposing a reinterpretation of the thought of Paulo Freire, from the communitarian approach, differentiating it from the thought of the typically liberal New School authors of his time. Communitarian assumptions are spread throughout Freire’s work, especially in his defence of popular culture, placing it in opposition to liberal assumptions, despite his progressive spirit and his training having taken place within the context of the New School movement. The concerns that drive our argument are as follows: to what extent does Freire’s pedagogy reinforce the communitarian assumptions that converge to the interests of the social theory communitarian? Can it assist in the expansion of popular sovereignty? To what extent can Freire’s pedagogy, updated with this approach, contribute to the strengthening of popular sovereignty and influence public policies in public commitment to the socio-cultural demands of different groups, taking into account a wide range of interests and values? In answering these questions, we can fill some gaps and expand the spaces for debate about the foundations and purpose of Popular Education. Similarly, the debate permeates the dispute between liberals and communitarians, in how these demands can be included. Liberals defend the principle of formal equality, that press for individual rights, and the communitarians defend the demand for recognition of cultural groups, showing the contradictions present in social organization. The debate runs through the different models of democracy. The formal model of liberal democracy makes the concepts of freedom and equality abstract, in addition to disregarding any trait of cultural tradition. It produces some phenomena that beset modernity and contribute to the strengthening of capitalism, such as the process of massification, alienation, uprooting and homogenization of cultures, factors that affect the identity of the subjects and, therefore, their conscious participation in public life. The model of participatory democracy, in turn, assumes active participation and concrete living conditions. The thesis points to the contradictions and suggests that contextualized education can generate resistance against individualism, in addition to identifying possible paths for a participatory democracy separate to communitarianism. Freire shows an educational perspective that assumes a principal of politics that helps to foster the practice of participatory democracy, especially because it advocates dialogue as the essence of all education. The proposal of political literacy, arising from the incentive to understand the world and create learning in communion, is inserted in the context of culture and not the atomized individual.

Frequent crises characterized capitalism, which are manipulated by him to concentrate more wealth and increase control over the working class, with the permanent threat of unemployment. Even more, it creates a world of consumerism that creates alienation, because work is needed to consume and to continue to have work you need to accept the capitalist rules. The objective of this research is to identify as the National Information System on the Solidarity Economy - SIES, to provide data about economic and supportive projects, obtained through field research, establishes itself as a social technology that contributes to the processes of self-management features of the Solidarity Economy. As preparatory steps for the analysis of data provided by SIES, the study follows a path that seeks to set the historical focus: its economic structure dominant, neoliberal capitalism and globalization, the new concept of territorial development that guides the Solidarity Economy, which if you want to organizing democratic and egalitarian forms of production, consumption, savings and loans as an alternative to the dominant system, and finally, a new line of thought represented by the studies STS (Science, Technology and Society), with a new vision of relations between scientific and technological progress and its impact on the dynamics of development of society. Questions of Solidarity Economy are discussed in detail in a separate chapter, as well as the process of self-managed firms, constitute the essence of solidarity enterprises. To reach that goal, we used the exploratory method, starting from the case studies of projects offered by SIES solidarity, which give an updated scenario of the Solidarity Economy in the five Brazilian regions, from the perspective of the field Science, Technology and Society - STS . The conclusions of the study point to the fact that multidisciplinary interventions contribute to the construction of an alternative to the capitalist mode of production, for which the field STS could contribute. Also point to significant growth, and also qualitatively, the Solidarity Economy movement, possibly from the successive crises of capitalism and also a change of understanding of the ways economic organizations may be beyond the capitalist structures, just as demonstrates the relationship of projects with various social movements, even though, according to data from SIES, the initiatives are still shy when it comes to more specific interventions in the territory surrounding the developments.

Avaliação em língua estrangeira (inglês) no acesso ao ensino superior : o ENEM em discussão

Inferences based on the results of language tests have been used to make decisions about people s lives because tests work as a gateway at important moments related to education, employment and moving from one country to another (MCNAMARA, 2000). In this study, we aimed at discussing the inclusion of an English test in the ENEM entrance examination in Brazil. This test evaluates the reading ability in English as a Foreign Language (EFL). Its use in the Brazilian educational system was introduced without the development and publication of specifications that are a central and crucial part of a test construction process. Test specifications should include information related to the theoretical framework underlying the test and the level of understanding expected from test-takers (ALDERSON; CLAPHAM; WALL, 1995). From this perspective, we conducted an interpretative research (MOITA LOPES, 1994) based on documents (LANKSHEAR; KNOBEL, 2008) in order to understand the construct that underlies the ENEM English test. The documents that contributed to the data analysis were the English Curricular Guidelines for Brazilian Secondary Schools and the Guidelines for ENEM 2009, which are the documents that direct the development of the current version of ENEM. The results obtained from the analysis of the 2010 and 2011 ENEM English tests show that the assessment of the EFL reading ability is operationalized primarily through the decoding of texts by test-takers, which originates from a narrow concept of language (SCARAMUCCI, 1995). Based on this, we believe that the ENEM English test does not allow test-takers to read between the lines, as suggested by the English Curricular Guidelines. The results also show that the competence and the skills presented by the Guidelines for ENEM 2009 are not implemented in the ENEM English test. Furthermore, the results suggest that the development of this test should be reconsidered by the test writers, starting with the design and publication of specifications that are coherent with the contemporary theories that guide the process of EFL teaching, learning and assessment.

A reestruturação produtiva e o trabalho dos motoristas de caminhão: um estudo de caso em duas empresas de transporte rodoviário de carga

The present study has for objective to identify effects of the productive reorganization in the work of truck drivers, in the period between 1980 and 1990 in Brazil. This research is a study of case about two companies of road haulage (RH), with tradition in the segment. They had been selected on the basis of the time of performance in the market, regions of operation and localization of the company. Following criteria defined previously, involving mainly the work time, drivers (salary earning and aggregate) and managers of different areas had been interviewed with a focus on trajectory of work within the company. Beyond the study of case, the bibliographical research on the history of the RH in Brazil contributed to understand the moment the road haulage becames predominant in the country and why. The results show that, historically, the road transport always was connected to the industrial sector and that the changes in the management of the production of this sector had direct impact in the management of the transports. Thus, since the 1990s, the transporters have increased the agility of the process of transport, reduced costs and time spent, guaranteeing the quality of the services given through the use of concepts and practices linked to Suplly Chain Management (SCM) and Logistics. New practices in an old labor model: new employment contracts to reduce costs and avoid the limitations of labor law (outsourcing), extension of working hours and remuneration for productivity (to drive more is to earn more). The absence of an adequate legislation that regulates the activities of the RH and imposes limits to the drive time and distinguishes it and the work time, equally contributes to the long labor journey to become one more factor of risk in this profession, especially between the drivers who work with fast orders lines.

Plant legumains, also termed vacuolar processing enzymes (VPEs), are cysteine peptidases that play key roles in seed maturation, germination, senescence, stress response, programmed cell death during development and defense against pathogens. Despite the increasing number of reports on VPEs, most of studies are on dicotyledonous legumain and their role in seeds. In this study, it was performed the characterization of sugarcane legumain, named CaneLEG. Kinetic characterization of the recombinant CaneLEG expressed in Pichia pastoris revealed that this enzyme has the main characteristics of VPEs, such as self-activation and activity under acidic pH. CaneLEG activity was strongly inhibited by the sugarcane cystatin named CaneCPI-3. In vivo interaction between legumain and cystatin was observed to barley proteins, indicating that legumains might be inhibited by cystatins in the plant. Furthermore, the CaneLEG and CaneCPI-3 gene expression was analyzed throughout sugarcane development and in plantlets treated with phytohormones. From these results, it was observed that these genes showed a tissue-specific expression pattern, with the strong accumulation of CaneLEG transcripts throughout the internode development. The up-regulation of CaneLEG and CaneCPI-3 genes in plantlets treated with ABA suggests that these proteins encoded by these genes may be involved in stress response and CaneCPI-3 may act on endogenous cysteine peptidase regulation. Our results suggest the CaneCPI-3 as the endogenous inhibitor of CaneLEG and the involvement of these proteins on the ABA-regulated stress response. Further, the gradual increase on CaneLEG expression in internode suggests the action of this enzyme on the development of this storage tissue. The results obtained in this work will serve as an initial tool to understand the roles played by CaneLEG and CaneCPI-3 on sugarcane.
