In this context, we highlight the performance management that can assist in the search for competitiveness and dairy industry marked by specificities to produce and offer products with quality and consumer safety. To achieve this success, dairy rely on performance measurement systems to assist in its production process, management and distribution of products. Being that there are factors that can shape the use of performance measurement. From this backdrop, this paper aims to examine the prospect of multicase, the internal and external factors affecting the use of performance measurement in dairy industries in Sorocaba-SP. The relevance of this research proposal is to contribute to the theoretical aspect in the development of knowledge about performance measurement and practical aspect to making a diagnosis of the factors that influence the performance measurement in the dairy study, resulting in a major material for understanding and improving the everyday reality of collaborating companies. To develop this study, we carried out a field survey with managers of three quality dairy products in Sorocaba-SP. It is used as a research tool, a semi-structured, with a qualitative approach, aiming at deepening the knowledge about a given reality. Factors identified with exploitation cases were internal factors: organizational culture, management style, organizational structure, competitive strategy, resources and capabilities, IT infrastructure and external factors: integration between the different links in the chain and government regulations (IN62 ).Item type:Item, Caracterização microestrutural e mecânica da liga de Al AA7050 reciclada por conformação por spray e extrusão(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2013-01-22) ;Mazzer, Eric Marchezini ;Kiminami, Claudio Shyinti ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5443002033733395https://lattes.cnpq.br/7273276940567054Aluminium alloys of the 7000 series are widely used in structural components in the aircraft industries due to their high strength and low density. However, a large amount of scraps is generated by the machining of the components, which achieves almost 90% of the alloy s initial mass. These wastes are normally used in low performance application, despite of the high quality of the AA7050 alloys. It occurs because is not possible to keep the good mechanical properties of the alloy when it is recycled by conventional casting, which generates high level of segregation of the alloy elements and a coarse microstructure. In this sense, the present work aims the recycling of the aluminium scraps by spray forming and hot extrusion. The spray forming process provides a rapid solidification, making possible to obtain a refined microstructure and a low level of segregation. The hot extrusion closes the pores arising from the previous process and increases the strength by reducing the grain size. After the spray forming the material was hot extruded in a industrial scale equipment in order to close the pores arising from the previous process and improve the strength. A combination of heat treatments concerning homogenization, solution and aging heat treatments were imposed during the process in order to optimize the mechanical properties. The microstructure characterization was carried out in a scanning electronic microscope (SEM) and in a transmission electronic microscope (TEM), combined with x-ray diffraction (XRD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) . The mechanical properties were evaluated by tensile tests. By the analysis of the results we can conclude that the spray forming is a viable route to recycle the Al AA7050 alloys because it can generate refined microstructure and better mechanical properties than the original material.Item type:Item, Utilização da técnica de conformação por coagulação direta (direct coagulation casting) em massas refratárias de sílica para processos de fundição por cera perdida(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2013-01-22) ;Alves Júnior, José Antonio ;Baldo, João Baptista ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2410385643716370https://lattes.cnpq.br/7449451997419254Refractory masses for lost wax casting process of steel and alloys, especially for dental devices are constituted basically of silica (quartz and / or cristobalite). In these materials, the binding agent is generally based on magnesium phosphate cements, produced by acid-based reaction of NH4H2PO4 with MgO. The main product of the reaction is struvita (MgNH4PO46H2O). The presence of phosphates together with retarders, necessary to control the reaction kinetics, contributes to the sintering and adhesion of the silica investment to the metal material after solidification. Recently it was developed a consolidation process of ceramic powders by direct coagulation (DCC) of a stabilized slurry of high solids content and low viscosity. The direct coagulation is achieved by controlled destabilizing (flocculation/ coagulation) of the suspension either through the gradual change of the pH towards the isoelectronic point or increasing the ionic strength of the medium. In this work the change in pH was accomplished by two different routes. The first one by the use of buffer solutions whose pH controll was close to the one of silica IEP (innovative methodology). The second was made by using citric acid and sodium trypolyphosphate in a competing reaction changing slowly the medium pH towards the silica IEP. Both routes promoted the direct coagulation of silica refractory masses without the presence of phosphates or any other binder. The results were very satisfactory, since in all silica refractory masses (>99% SiO2) used, the coagulation occurred rapidly, at low initial viscosity, and low final water content to be eliminated. The masses kept the required refractory properties for high temperature castings, presenting excellent properties such as high expansion at the metal casting temperatures, excellent surface finishing, low adherence to the cast part and easiness upon demolding. This whole set of properties are ideal for lost wax investment casting processes.Item type:Item, A luta contra a desesperança: a experiência de gestantes com HIV(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2013-01-22) ;Oliveira, Fernanda Ferreira Damaceno ;Wernet, Monika ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/6056127658896265https://lattes.cnpq.br/7291591684066479The discovery of the Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) during pregnancy drives woman to experience prejudice, discrimination and the possibility to infect her child, promoting an existential reflection. Suffering is present, conducting to a hope experience. Hope is a dynamic and multidimensional process, focused in the possibility to achieve what is desired. Incorporate bases and force to exist, being reached in the moments of difficulty. Therefore, the routine with HIV during pregnancy connect itself to the experience of hope, for that reason the present study has hope as its component. The objective was to explore and describe hope experiences during pregnancy of woman that discovery her HIV seropositive at prenatal. This study had as theoretical reference the Symbolic Interactionism and narratives research as methodological reference. The strategy to data collection was semi-structured interview associated with hope s genogram and ecomap. It was part of this study seven pregnant women who discovered their HIV seropositivity during prenatal. The results are present and organized in the following thematic units: Life review ; be a mother , care of herself , surrender to divine intervention , social interaction and hope . The main phenomenon identified was fight against the lack of hope . It was conclude that the tendency to lack of hope is strongly present in the gestational routine of these women and that exist interactions that are hope promoters and others that restrict it. Woman try to valorize those that are hope promoter to reach what It was established as a goal in that period: contribute with her child s seronegativity.Item type:Item, Mash-ups literários: uma análise das representações discursivas do novo autor/novo leitor brasileiro contemporâneo(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2013-01-23) ;Conti, Clarissa Neves ;Ferreira, Luzmara Curcino ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4849994635754652https://lattes.cnpq.br/2455190460941507In this work we seek to observe the discursive representations of contemporary reading practices. In view of the technological changes that have been presenting since the end of the 20th century, which configure what has been called digital culture, we seek to observe the impact of the strength of this culture on contemporary writing and reading practices. To this end, we define as an object of analysis the literary mashups, which are the result of a culture of the mix of today's own mix. This practice of mashup, quite common in relation to other artistic languages, such as music, has developed in relation to texts, and presents itself as an interesting change in writing and reading practices nowadays. In order to understand some of these mutations, we raise some discursive representations present not only in the texts produced according to the practice of mashup, but also those apprehensive through the polarization of discourse about this recent editorial phenomenon. We will constitute our corpus with two copies of mashups of Brazilian classical literature, namely, Dom Casmurro and the Flying Saucers and The Alienist Hunter of Mutants, both originating from the works of Machado de Assis. Thus, we will observe what are the linguistic and stylistic choices that define the degree of maintenance or change of narratives. We also seek to highlight the discursive formations for and against the practice of mashup. To undertake this analysis, we focus on the articulation between the assumptions of the Cultural History of reading as presented by Roger Chartier (1999) and on the concepts of French Discourse Analysis, mainly on the work of Michel Foucault (2008; 2009). Observing such changes that occur in the linguistic structures of the text, as well as in the manifestations of readers regarding the editorial dissemination of these books (from comments on blogs), we seek to discuss the principle that governs the appropriation of the editorial market of this mash-up practice, based on the assumption that it began with the spontaneous production of remixes, and that today it offers itself as an editorial line of some publishers that focus on the consumer market for children and youth.Item type:Item, Desenvolvimento e análise de material didático on-line para o ensino de conteúdos de química orgânica: controle biorracional de insetos pragas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2013-01-23) ;Silva, Thiago Eliel Mendonça da ;Zuin, Vânia Gomes ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5265150425993880https://lattes.cnpq.br/8362694130229788This research has focused on exploring the possibilities and limitations of a WebQuest as an educational tool implemented to cover different topics of Organic Chemistry related to plague insects and their biological control in crop management, Controle Bioracional de Insetos Praga (CBIP), a research program linked to the National Institute of Science and Technology (INCT) at UFSCar. This case study dealt with the controversial socioscientific issue that represented the control of fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) which caused damage on local corn crops, and was performed by a high school class in the Junqueira Educational Center, located in Morro Agudo, SP. The relationships among science, technology and society (STS) and central dimensions to make decisions regarding the addressed problem, as well as the learning possibilities offered by the WebQuest could be understood in a broader context. In order to evaluate the student s performance, their whole textual production towards the resolution of the problem was considered (questionnaires, reports, power point presentations etc.), exposing the alternatives found for this particular plague control in corn crops (mechanical, biological and chemical methods), pretending for that matter to be a fictitious company responsable for the optimization of its corn production. It was possible to verify that the students previously divided into three groups managed this particular task successfully which required analytical and scientific judgement.Item type:Item, Avaliação da eficiência operacional de terminais intermodais da região sudeste na cadeia logística de grãos por análise envoltória de dados(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2013-01-23) ;Peixoto, Maria Gabriela Mendonça ;Batalha, Mario Otávio ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1015001063418091https://lattes.cnpq.br/6934436782540272The precarious nature of brazilian logistics infrastructure, technologically outdated, has been facing with a scenario marked by food global demand increase, a fact that may reflect in the country's economic development delays. Considering the important Brazil agribusiness nature and the participation in agricultural production expansion opportunities, it is necessary that national forces both public and private assess the possibility of performing logistical adjustments, so that the country can align its production capacity with the international consumption agribusiness demands In addition, it may be noted that, in 2011, logistics represented 10,6% of the national GPD (Gross Domestic Product), also considering that transport and storage stand out as factors that have an important influence over supply chains dynamics. In grain production chains, these logistics activities may involve intermodal terminals that may be suitable for storage and transhipment of these grains. The Southeast region plays an important role in grain production and handling processes in Brazil, distinguishing by its grain productivity (kg/ha) in 2011/2012 season, second only to the South in the 2010/11 season. Thus, this study aims to investigate Southeast intermodal terminals performance checking their levels of efficiency in brazilian grain harvest flow logistics operations. The research approach was defined as qualitative and quantitative or mixed with exploratory purposes. The research method was the case study (multicases) and data collection was conducted through interviews, using a structured questionnaire and nonprobability sampling, for convenience. Initially, the process was carried out to characterize the terminals, through the establishment of the frequency distribution and then, quantitative data were evaluated from Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) technique. The application of both models of Charnes, Cooper and Rhodes (1978) constant returns to scale BCC - and Banker Charnes and Cooper (1984) variable returns to scale CCR - showed that only three (4, 7 and 11) of the twelve analyzed decision making units (or terminals), also known as DMUs, have got overall technical efficiency, ie, can use their inputs efficiently, without incurring on huge wastes. In addition, these terminals are the only ones with pure technical efficiency. On the other hand, the three inefficient DMUs (1, 2 and 12) showed pure technical efficiency, suggesting that these terminals could present presumable scale operation inefficiency, an aspect not addressed in this paper. The logistics terminals analysis allowed the understanding of the grain movement context from the brazilian intermodal transport perspective as well as iv it was possible to verify that a greater operational productivity can be obtained regarding the use of the structure and resources available.Item type:Item, O estudo de áreas vulneráveis a enchentes : uma ferramenta na mitigação de impactos. O caso de São José do Rio Preto-SP(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2013-01-24) ;Ártico, Beatriz de Carvalho ;Cordeiro, João Sergio ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2572864522562875https://lattes.cnpq.br/2820017897465492Over past years, in the period of greatest rainfall - between december and march the cities suffer from floods. There are various motives for the urban floods, including the changes in the hydrological cycle and the disordered process of urban land use and occupation. Floods cause impacts to the population subject to the phenomenon, whose mitigation is fundamental and is based an action that balances urban development with environmental conditions. The present work aims to identify the main factors which act directly or indirectly in floods from the perspective of the areas vulnerable to flooding, with case study in the city of Sao Jose do Rio Preto-SP. From the analysis of the literature review were selected four parameters related to the areas vulnerable to flooding: the use and occupation of urban land, the river basin, the urban drainage, and the vulnerability. A method of evaluation of areas with the main features to be parsed assigning scores to the same, with the intention of quantifies and qualifies them. As a result were obtained a diagnoses form the selection area with their respective scores, degree of vulnerability, recommendations and suggestions, as well as map overview and representation schematic of the area.Item type:Item, Ingressantes na licenciatura em pedagogia do sistema UAB/UFSCAR : quem são, o que pensam e aprendizagens iniciais(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2013-01-24) ;Perez, Silvia Maria ;Mizukami, Maria da Graça Nicolettihttps://lattes.cnpq.br/7530989456701455Distance Education - DE is a type of education that eliminates communication barriers created by distance and time. One of the main waste generated in the manufacturing process of this sector is the sugarcane bagasse ash sand (SBAS), produced from the burning of bagasse into boilers to produce electricity (cogeneration). This ash sand is composed of a high amount of silica and it is also currently discarded in cane plantations as organic fertilizer, despite the fact that it is poor in nutrients. This research proposes to provide an alternative application of SBAS in concrete as a replacement material for fine aggregate. Furthermore, the durability of concrete with alternative materials demands a special attention, especially regarding reinforcement corrosion. This is a major concern of the use of wastes on the degradation of concrete structures. The process begins with the despassivation of steel reinforcement, and it propagates in a suitable environment. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential occurrence of reinforcement corrosion in concrete made with SBAS as a partial replacement material for fine aggregate. The ash sand samples were collected in a plant in the State of São Paulo, and standardized through a sieving and grinding. The SBAS was subjected to physical and chemical characterization, by its chemical composition, sieve analysis, powdery material, absorption, bulk density and true density. Mortars and concretes were produced with levels of substitution of 0% (reference), 30% and 50% of SBAS. In mortars, tests of compressive strength, porosity (void index and pores analysis by optical microscopy), water absorption, accelerated carbonation, chloride penetration and electrical conductivity of the aqueous solution were performed. The concretes were submitted to tests of compressive strength, void index, absorption, chloride penetration, potential and rate of reinforcement corrosion. Thus, the results indicated that substitution of 30% and 50% by SBAS can increase the compressive strength of concrete and the resistance to attack by chlorides, and decrease the despassivation probability of reinforcement. However, with the content of 50% of SBAS, the corrosion rate was significantly higher in comparison to other samples, and it was similar between the concretes with 30% of SBAS and reference. Thus, it was possible to conclude that the concrete with 30% of SBAS as a substitute of fine aggregate may be applied in conventional structural elements without loss of mechanical and durability performance.Item type:Item, Indicadores de circulação do acervo na Biblioteca Comunitária da UFSCar(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2013-01-25) ;Ninin, Débora Marroco ;Amaral, Roniberto Morato do ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/6958372164719600https://lattes.cnpq.br/0665489360444494The emergence of new technologies and process automation of libraries and information centers open new possibilities for studies of uses and users within these environments. It was also possible to reaffirm the importance of studies of uses and users through a quantitative approach with new information technologies that open up new possibilities for this type of study. Item type:Item, Entre autoritarismo e diálogo: a democracia como processo na gestão escolar(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2013-01-28) ;Gomes, Ronaldo Martins ;Luiz, Maria Cecíliahttps://lattes.cnpq.br/7425361719028650This dissertation aimed to understand the relationship between public school and democracy, mediated by democratic management, the perspective of school managers, believing that democratic development in society comes through participation spaces, with decisions. It reflected on the importance of democracy and its significance in the context of school relations, taking into account that it is an epistemological problem as much as a political enigma seizing axes articulators of public policy. Had the mainspring three concerns: the extent to which the managers interviewed established democratic practices in school management? In what areas? How these practices were considered democratic, and how they strengthened? In the empirical part we selected a city located in São Paulo, midsize, called Rio Claro. It set up a sample of ten managers, with whom semi-structured interviews were conducted. Presented a study on democracy, from the economic, political and social that characterize modernity, with reflections on modern liberal democracy; Theory of Communicative Action and the transformations that characterize modernity, according to Jurgen Habermas, and a panorama of relations that characterize the formation of the state and of Brazilian politics. It was understood that the managers interviewed were creating democratic practices in school management, to stimulate dialogue and hosting, while listening demands, respect for differences, singularities and interests in the school daily, to share decisions and responsibilities to respect the limits of the functions and duties of a member in the hierarchy of the workplace, to pursue work together, the use of "instruments" as simple questionnaire for families of students, the flexibility of schedules to attendance of parents and family, participation and training partnership between school and family for the benefit of students, the collective construction of PPP as an approximation between the school and community. These actions allowed us to understand how managers understood to be enabling democratic practices in school, the school administration and school linking democracy. The spaces for these actions were: meetings HTPC; APM meetings, meetings with parents or guardians; "politics of coffee" etc.. Despite the respondents did not indicate a reference or a theorist of democracy in particular, it was possible to see that realized, procedurally, a democratic relationship within the school and interpersonal relationships.Item type:Item, Efeitos do treinamento muscular inspiratório e da cinesioterapia respiratória na capacidade de exercício, sincronia tóraco-abdominal e na função muscular respiratória em pacientes com DPOC(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2013-01-28) ;Basso, Renata Pedrolongo ;Costa, Dirceuhttps://lattes.cnpq.br/6419696729541090The present thesis has a result three studies in which the aims were: Study I To propose an assessment method of inspiratory muscle endurance (IME) using the traditional manuvacuometry and the PowerBreathe® device. Moreover, the aim was to verify its viability in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and healthy. Study II To compare the inspiratory muscle training (IMT) and respiratory exercise (RE) effects associated with physical training (PT) regarding to strength and endurance gain of inspiratory muscles, thoracoabdominal mobility, physical exercise capacity and dyspnea during physical efforts in patients with COPD. In additional, it was to verify if there is a relation of changing gained post training among these variables. Study III To verify if the IMT and/or RE modality associated to PT can provide changes in inspiratory muscle strength, in thoracoabdominal asynchronism and dyspnea at rest and during unsupported upper limb (UL) exercises. Additionally, it was to verify if there is a difference between these both technics modalities. The total sample was composed of 19 healthy subjects and 25 patients with COPD; 13 in the GPT+IMT group and 12 in the GPT+RE. All subjects were assessed before and after training by spirometry; measures of maximum inspiratory (MIP) and expiratory pressures (MEP), IME test, in which was determined the sustained maximum inspiratory pressure (SMIP) and the limit time (Tlim), cirtometry, sixminute walking test (6MWT) and treadmill exercise test (TT). Moreover, reported the modified Medical Research Council (mMRC) and the assessment of respiratory inductance plethysmography (RIP). The IME test was well tolerated. The MIP, MIP %pred, SMIP and SMIP/MIP values were significant lower (p<0.05) in patient with COPD. There was no significant difference between COPD and healthy subjects regarding to Tlim. In the GPT+IMT the MIP, SMIP, abdominal mobility values were significant higher (p<0.05); and, the dyspnea was significantly lower in the 6MWTpeak, TT and mMRC post treatment. However, in both groups there was a significant rise of MIP and SMIP, thoracoabdominal mobility, 6MWD and inclination at TT; and, fall of dyspnea at 6MWTpeak (p<0.05). Only in the GPT+IMT there was a decreased of thoracoabdominal asynchronism at rest and during UL exercises. The PowerBreathe® device associated with the manovacuometry makes acceptable the IME test in patients with COPD and healthy subjects, specially using the incremental load. Both technics increased the exercise capacity and decrease dyspnea at efforts clinically significant. Although, due to the training specificity, only the IMT group was able to improve the inspiratory strength and endurance, which results in a pronounced reduction of dyspnea and thoracoabdominal asynchronism at rest and during UL exercises.Item type:Item, Qualidade da informação: o caso da organização prestadora de serviços baseados em informação(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2013-01-28) ;Silva, Antonio Carlos Santos ;Amaral, Roniberto Morato do ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/6958372164719600https://lattes.cnpq.br/5499233462344572Information has become essential for organizational performance and more rational and sustainable decision-making about work processes and competitive in the organizational context. It was considered the auto parts companies as appropriate to investigate this topic, as they are forced to adopt many of the methods investigated. We chose the survey procedure using the database of member companies of Sindipeças, an association of auto parts producers, in 2010. In total, 388 companies were contacted and received the questionnaire. Of these, 95 returned the questionnaire answered. The main results observed were that methods of operations management listed in the questionnaire were adopted by companies surveyed and, in most cases, there was involvement of workers. It was also observed that the cases of adoption of methods without the involvement of workers were more discontinued.Item type:Item, Orientação acadêmica e profissional dos estudantes universitários com deficiência: perspectivas internacionais(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2013-01-29) ;Cabral, Leonardo Santos Amâncio ;Mendes, Enicéia Gonçalveshttps://lattes.cnpq.br/5306031040506357The exponential increase of students with disabilities enrolled at universities of different countries has urged these institutions to enable some services geared to their guidance, both academic and professional level. However, the international literature shows that these initiatives, in some realities, are still disconnected from the broader socio-economic context. This can significantly inhibit opportunities which would allow tertiary students to put in practice their professionalism for the benefit of the society. In order to find possible solutions to this problem, in principle identified empirically in Brazil by the researcher, the objective of this research was to explore, in an international level, initiatives related to the academic and professional guidance of students with disabilities. In this direction has been realized this case study on the field, which results was presented in three parts, according to the conditions, participants, temporality and methods adopted: a) Longitudinal descriptive case study in Italy: during three years, in condition of full immersion at Disability Services of University of Rome Foro Italico it was put in place an empirical proposal on academic and professional guidance which involved 20 students with disabilities enrolled in three italian universities, through the implementation of objective strategies and specific tools of observation, evaluation and monitoring, with the participation of 4 academic tutor and 20 career tutor; b) Exploratory case study in England and France: during the international mobility provided by the Doctor Europeaus, during three months were carried out observation activities and given interviews to academic and career tutors of two French universities and two British universities. c) Exploratory Case Study in Denmark and Ireland: through active participation in the project Univers'Emploi of the European program Leonardo da Vinci, were realized technical visits in locus and transnational meetings with the heads of Disability Services of the Danish and Irish Universities which allowed the collection of data through observation and anedoctal records. The overall analysis of the results emerged from this research has allowed to identify, in an international perspective, the strengths of each reality explored. The reflections on these elements have directed the proposition of indicators which can contribute to the scientific and university community on the implementation, evaluation and monitoring of a potential academic and professional guidance program for tertiary students with disabilities.Item type:Item, Estudos biológicos e ecológicos da interação entre Nephila clavipes (Araneae, nephilidae) e o parasitoide Hymenoepimecis bicolor (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae, pimplinae)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2013-01-30) ;Sobczak, Jober Fernando ;Dias, Angélica Maria Penteado Martins ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/8637344058859147https://lattes.cnpq.br/1177030761488272Parasitoid wasps may use a wide variety of arthropods as food for their larvae. Among koinobiont species, whose development of the parasitoid does not disrupt the normal activities of the host, there is a group of wasps that exclusively uses spiders as hosts. In Polysphincta group (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae, Pimplinae), some species are able to change their hosts behavior before turning into pupa. These behavioral changes that are possibly responsible for an increase in the probability of survival of the parasitoid, are rare in this type of interaction. In this study, which was divided into four chapters, the interaction between the spider Nephila clavipes (Araneae, Nephilidae) and Hymenoepimecis bicolor wasp (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae, Pimplinae) are described in detail. In the first chapter we describe the attack and oviposition behavior of H. bicolor, that starts with the wasp flying around the N. clavipes web. Then the wasp attacks inserting the ovipositor into the mouth and paralyzing the spider at the center of the web. Females H. bicolor emerge from larger spiders while males emerge from smaller spiders. Apparently the wasp is able to estimate the size of the host and decide whether or not to fertilize the egg to be laid down in the spider. In the second chapter, we found the frequency of parasitism in N. clavipes for H. bicolor and also verify the choice of the host size, can be directly related to a trade-off between size and risk of injury. The ecdysis is not able to remove the parasitoid larva which remains attached to the spider body. Furthermore, we note that six days before the ecdysis, so in the period of pre-ecdysis, there is a decrease in the number of rays and turns, causing a decrease in the web size. The changed web built by spiders in the preecdysis is very similar to the modified web built by spiders parasitized days before being killed by the parasitoid larva. xi The third chapter describes the influence of the architecture of the modified webs and the normal ones on the survival of pupa of H. bicolor. In normal webs the pupa survival is greatly affected and in most of the observations cocoons fell in the soil or suffered other kind damage. In another experiment, we removed the third instar larva in the moment that the spider began to build the modified web and we found that after removing the larva the spider start building its standard web. Thus, our goal was to verify if that the larva injects substances that induce the spider to build a web modified. In the final chapter the immature stages of the H. bicolor are described by observing morphological and behavioral characteristics in each stageItem type:Item, Preparação, caracterização e aplicação de eletrodos de nanotubos de carbono na determinação de Cr(III), Cr(VI) e flavonoides(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2013-01-30) ;Nobrega, Camila Bortolato Gomes da ;Mascaro, Lucia Helena ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9130022476352844https://lattes.cnpq.br/4242413249181010The objective of this work is the development of a carbon nanotubes past electrode (CNTs) as electrochemical sensors in the analysis of flavonoids, (+) catechin and rutin, and Cr (III) and Cr (VI) ions, by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The electrodes were prepared with 60% w/ w multiple walls CNTs with diameter of 20 to 40 nm and 40% w/w of mineral oil, nujol. The analytical curves for organic compounds (+) catechin and rutin were performed in phosphate buffer pH 6.0 while those for Cr (III) and Cr (VI) the electrolyte was a mixture of HCl and KCl 0.1 mol L-1 and tetrabutylammonium bromide 0.15 mmol L-1. The (+) catechin showed a limit of detection (DL) of 5.4 x 10-8 mol L-1 and rutin 9.37 x 10-8 mol L-1. The standard addition method was used to analyse the samples of tea species Camellia sinensis (black, white and green) and pomegranate fruit (bark, leaf and fruit). The total content of flavonoids was determined, since it was not possible separate the analytical signal of the two organic species. The values found with the addition of (+) catechin or rutin standard solutions are close to those reported in the literature and agree with those obtained from UV-vis technique. From analytical curve of the Cr (VI) ion was obtained a DL of 1.1 x10-9 mol L-1 and a recovery factor (Frec) of 98.1%. For Cr (III) none analytical signal was obtained in the conditions used in this work. However, for the mixture of Cr (III) and Cr (VI) the total chromium content was determined with a Frec of 100.4%, at low ions concentrations. The method was not able to specialty the different chromium ions species.Item type:Item, Síntese assimétrica dos componentes do feromônio sexual da lagarta-parda, Thyrinteina arnobia (Lepidoptera: Geometridae)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2013-01-31) ;Paiva, Marcelo Montanha de ;Corrêa, Arlene Gonçalves ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/7425467156776144https://lattes.cnpq.br/5793954287313897The pheromones play an important role in chemical communication between alive organisms. They can be used in agriculture to pest control. The brown-caterpillar, Thyrinteina arnobia, is considered in Brazil a major pest of Eucalyptus species. The damage is caused by tree defoliation due to the attack of caterpillars. In this work the asymmetric synthesis of four stereoisomers of 3,4-epoxy-6,9-eneicosadiene, sex pheromone component of T. arnobia, was accomplished in 11 steps with an overall yield of 16 to 20%. The key step of the synthetic route involved the Sharpless asymmetric epoxidation of Z- and E-2-penten-1-ol which delivered the corresponding epoxyalcohols in 70-76% yield and 80-90% ee. Electroantennographic analysis (EAG) as well as behavioural studies in laboratory and field will be conducted to evaluate the action of these compounds in insects and possible application in monitoring and pest control.
