Modelo de regressão de valor extremo para dados agrupados
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2013-03-11) Santo, Jonatas Silva do Espirito; Diniz, Carlos Alberto Ribeiro; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3277371897783194; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9903742572912763
One of the distributions used to model extremal events is the type I extremevalue distribution (Gumbel distribution). The usual extreme-value regression model requires independent observations. In this work, using generalized linear model (Mc-Cullagh e Nelder, 1989) and generalized estimating equations (Liang e Zeger, 1986), we developed the extreme-value regression model when there are independent clusters formed by dependent variables. The behavior of parameter estimators of the proposed model is studied through Monte Carlo simulations.

Uso da corrente crítica por meio da simulação para o auxílio no processo de planejamento da capacidade em uma fundição
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2013-03-11) Santos, Fabrício Guermandi dos; Politano, Paulo Rogério
It is already known that the productive environment is in constant changing, with new technologies, new systems and theories coming up every day, providing other forms to manage production to comply with inconstant demands and a competitive market. In this context, the capacity planning has an important role for a company, managing resources in a structured way with accurate information, ensuring that market requirements will be fulfilled in terms of delivery, cost and quality. The Critical Chain Method is shown as an alternative to change the way that manufacturing resources has been managed, prioritizing what is really important, avoiding waste of time and financial resources. Therefore, the objective of this work was to elaborate a model of discrete-event simulation to evaluate and compare the use of the principles of critical chain, against the traditional capacity planning method used in a foundry. For this assessment were used performance indicators as accomplishment deadlines, work in process, average lead time, etc., where these after being compared, have shown the proposed method could provide positive results to the environment studied.

The present work focus on investigating processes of subjectivity in contemporary self-help speeches aiming the female audience, which when penetrating the network through a specific form of using digital media, they become practical mutual help. To achieve this goal, I established three main lines of research, which I will discuss through a ethnographic method: the website Bolsa de Mulher, with its discussion forums, advertisements and products sales and the group created by the users on Facebook, the lines among users within that platform, their life stories and experiences both with the internet and the self-help speech; finally, some books of this genre, most cited by my collaborators and some of the best selling in recent years, in Brazil. I discuss a theoretical framework that examines issues of subjectivity through the use of digital media as well as one that addresses a perspective of intersectionality of class differences, gender, sexuality, race, religion, all markers crossing such use. Last but not least, I problematize and bring into discussion the sociological debate around the so-called New Class C, public that composes this research and has specific characteristics regarding the use of digital media and the dynamics of mutual help, in Brazil.

Números figurados e as sequências recursivas : uma atividade didática envolvendo números triangulares e quadrados
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2013-03-11) Chiconello, Luis Alexandre; Paterlini, Roberto Ribeiro; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6240750958932738; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7275458905939344
The shortage of activities regarding recursive defined sequences, allied to the importance of this theme to young students has been contested in at least twenty years of experience teaching Mathematics. The elaboration of a learning product, in a form of sheets of activities which gradually lead the student to the understanding of the concept of recursion, the pattern recognition, conjectures tests and formulas acquisition, could be inferred by the application of these sheets of activities in two high school classrooms in a technical state school. The data attained from these activities applications were analyzed and compared to the previously formed hypothesis (previous analysis) which were formed during the elaboration of the sheets of activities. The investigation method used was the Didactical Engineering. The students did the activities in groups of two or three students .They were participative and felt challenged in doing every step (lessons) proposed in the sheets. It was verified that the teaching material developed works, as it reached its main goals, the biggest one, the students learning. It is believed that the material developed may be useful to other teachers who may wish to develop the theme proposed in their classrooms, even adapting them to their students needs. This work brought to this author a great profession evolution which began with the theme choice, passed through the development of the material, the application in the classes and finally in the reflection of everything that was done and that is recorded in these notes.

In the process of paste drying in spouted bed, the paste is submitted to the system, changes in rheological properties occur, a powder is formed and collected by a cyclone. Currently, various pastes have been tested and their chemical composition may indicate the behavior of the process. When it comes to modeling, many challenges are found, mainly the ones related to the incorporation of the pastes in the models. Therefore, this work was developed in order to obtain more detailed information about the drying process of pastes in a spouted bed, considering the effect of their chemical composition. Based on the effects of the presence of pastes, a hybrid CST / Neural model was verified experimentally to describe the heat and mass transfer phenomena. Besides, a neural model capable of predicting variations in the fluid dynamic behavior of the process was proposed. Drying experiments were carried out with water, homogenized egg, propolis, sweet whey, whole milk, skimmed milk, semi-skimmed milk and low lactose content milk in a spouted bed of cylindrical column of 0.5 m of diameter and 1 m of height, inferior conical base (angle of 60°) with an entrance nozzle of 0.03 m of diameter, top cone (angle of 60°) and outlet diameter of 0.05m. Polyethylene particles of 4.38mm were used as the inert part. During the experiments, changes in pressure drop, inlet air temperature, particle bed temperature at three positions axially from the annular region, outlet temperature, temperature of dry and wet bulb at the cyclone exhaust, as well as the moisture of the powder produced and covering formed on the inert particles were determined. From the information obtained, it is clear that the presence of sugar and fat cause different changes in the behavior of the spouted bed, especially when it comes to relative moisture and pressure drop. Regarding the modeling, the models proposed presented simplicity as for implementation and flexibility to interpolating values. These might be used in the future for other types of pastes by including other input data in the neural network, for example, physical properties of pastes.
