Item type:Item, Reator airlift operado em sobrepressão: construção, caracterização da transferência de oxigênio e aplicação em cultivos de Escherichia coli recombinante(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-08-15) ;Campani Junior, Gilson ;Giordano, Roberto de Camposhttps://lattes.cnpq.br/1982252146006688Owing to the broad biochemical, physiological and genetic characterization and the ease of manipulation and cultivation, several proteins with therapeutic and industrial applications are produced by genetically modified Escherichia coli. There is abundant information in the literature about strategies to increase biomass and recombinant protein production by cultivation of E. coli employing stirred and aerated tank bioreactor (conventional type). In contrast, although quite employed in cultivation of filamentous microorganisms, there are just a few studies involving cultivation of E. coli in airlift bioreactor. This reactor offers advantages over conventional one, such as simplicity of construction, reduced risk of contamination and efficient gas-liquid dispersion with low power consumption. However, the lower O2 transfer in airlift bioreactor (bench scale), compared to that achieved in conventional one, justifies the manipulation of temperature, pressure and flow rates of air and O2 in the dissolved oxygen concentration (DOC) control, avoiding decreases in biomass and recombinant protein productivities. In this context, this study aimed to: (i) determine the influence of internal pressure on the gas holdup (ɛ), volumetric O2 transfer coefficient (kLa) and volumetric O2 transfer rate (continue...).Item type:Item, O sexo dos meninos : Néstor Perlongher leitor de Oliverio Girondo(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-08-17) ;Campos, Mariana de Oliveira ;Alves-Bezerra, Wilson ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/1602719736498812https://lattes.cnpq.br/5924750107463258This thesis presents the final results of the research developed between March, 2013 and July, 2015, reflecting upon the connection between the poets Oliverio Girondo (1891–1967) and Néstor Perlongher (1949 – 1992). In the introduction it is possible to find the three theoretical guidelines that support the research: from Borges (1951), the tradition of the reader's perspective; from Claudia Lemos (1998), the signification as a reading procedure that contemplates poetry. From Roland Barthes (1973) and Georges Bataille (1957), the relation between the pleasure of reading and erotism as a function that is detached from reproduction. Regarding these notions Perlongher is discerned as Girondo's reader. The option to approach each poet was made from the idea of circulation, Girondo's giros and Perlogher's yiros, which are associated with the Baudelarian flâneur. Such idea is unfolded in three instances, which are, indeed, indivisible: the first one regards the relation of these poets to the city. The second concerns the erotic investment from the persona who “flâneurs”. The third refers to the linguistic procedures that support this theoretical erotic dimension. Thus, one goes to the analysis and comparison of two distinct instances in which Perlongher is acknowledged as Girondo's reader, the first being Girondo's essay "El sexo de las chicas"(1984), and the second being two poems that explicitly mention Girondo: “Anales”, from the book Austria-Hungría (1980) and “El deshollinador”, from Parque Lezama (1990). To sum up, it is observed and commented on how Perlongher makes Girondo yire, i.e., how the first approaches the second and puts him into circulation.Item type:Item, Portal transmídia mundo do sítio: análise do projeto transmídia do Sítio do Picapau Amarelo e sua relação com as demais extensões da obra de Monteiro Lobato(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-08-18) ;Torres, Rubens Francisco ;Gamo, Alessandro Constantino ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/8208629144314123https://lattes.cnpq.br/9242730746663067Important Brazilian children's literature author, Monteiro Lobato created with his books of "Sítio do Picapau Amarelo" a universe that remains and influences the imaginary of Brazilian population until today. This universe is not restricted only to literature, it expanded also in other media over almost ninety years, through TV shows, comic books, movies, and other media. In 2011 became available online the portal "Mundo do Sítio", first transmedia project product based on the work of Lobato. Besides the portal, the design transmedia of the "Sítio" also features an animation, social networking pages and a physical themed space located in Mairiporã-SP. The present research attempts to identify how the current transmedia project was developed from a universe already known and how it leverages influences from other adaptations to reintroduce the "Sítio" to a new generation. To do this, we conducted initially a historical survey of all the productions with the brand of the "Sítio", since the publication of the books by Monteiro Lobato, and then, we analyze the portal and identify its main transmedia characteristics and their relationship with the other productions made with the brand. Transmedia design of the "Sítio" uses elements developed in other adaptations of the work of Lobato and continues the expansion of the fictional universe, re-creating your space and encouraging their users to experience a playful way of that universe. With the animation, the story is expanded; presenting new information about the universe without mischaracterize the main characteristics developed by Lobato. Through social networks, users participate actively, both to assess the functioning of the Portal and how to develop productions based on the universe of the "Sítio". Finally, the portal uses features present in the text of Lobato that work effectively in the development of a TransMedia narrative.Item type:Item, Investigação sobre o estabelecimento de falsas memórias por meio do paradigma da equivalência de estímulos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-08-18) ;Aggio, Natalia Maria ;Rose, Julio Cesar Coelho de ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3386857761295187https://lattes.cnpq.br/4553599639534161False memories are defined as remembering events that never happened or remember facts in a distorted way. In cognitive psychology this phenomenon has been studied through the Deese-Roediger-McDermott (DRM) paradigm, in witch lists of words semanticaly related are used. In behavior analysis, the paradigm of stimulus equivalence is a proposition to study semantic relations. This doctoral dissertation presents three studies with undergraduate students in witch DRM and the stimulus equivalence paradigms were used in association to investigate false memories. First and second studies aimed to replicate the phenomenon in a experimental situations, using both Paradigms. Difference concentrates in the controlled variables. In Study 1, nonsense words were used as stimuli. Procedure was divided into two phases. Phase 1: formation of three twelve members equivalence classes. Phase 2: verification of false memories using lists based on DRM paradigm. A list with 10 out of the 12 stimuli from each of the three classes was presented (study list). After completing a distracter task a lists composed by all stimuli from previously list (targets), the rest of the stimuli form the classes (critical distractors) and four more nonsense words (non-related distracters) were shown. Participants should indicate witch stimuli were presented on study list. Participant recognized significantly more critical distratctors, compared to non-related stimuli. However, results could be due to the novelty of non-related distractors. In the second study, this variable was controlled. In Study 2, bot phases were presented, but in Phase 1, participants were first taught three four-stimuli equivalence classes in witch one set of stimuli was familiar pictures. Later, three classes with twelve stimuli were taught. Stimuli from the first three classes were used as non-related distractors. Participant did not recognized significantly more critical distratctors, compared to non-related. It is argued that results could be due to a weak relations between stimuli from the equivalence classes. The third study aimed to increase the relations between stimuli and to investigate the effect of including emotional stimuli in equivalence classes, on false memories. Study 2 was replicated and in the twelve-member classes, a set of stimuli was pictures with happiness, angry or neutrality expressions. Only in neutral list critical ditractors were recognized significantly more than non-related distractors. Results indicates list with emotions are less likely to produce false memories.Item type:Item, Estudo da influência da deformação por cisalhamento extrusão em canal angular e laminação assimétrica nas propriedades mecânicas do alumínio AA 1050(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-08-18) ;Vega, Marcelo Clécio Vargas ;Kliauga, Andrea Madeira ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3527528295399928 ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/6048704190676732Rubert, José BenaqueIt is known that the formability of aluminum alloy AA1050 is not favored when sheets are produced by conventional rolling due to the appearance of intense cube texture {100} <100> after recrystallization heat treatment. The objective of this study was to investigate whether components of shear processes can improve this property. For this work two processes of plastic deformation introducing shear stresses were selected: Equal channel angular extrusion (ECAE) and asymmetric rolling; these processes were compared to conventional rolling. In conventional rolling deformation results mainly compressive stresses. In the ECAE process shear is induced in the intersection of two channels of the same geometry that intersect by an angle In the asymmetric rolling the shear stress is basically increased due to the speed variation between the rolls. An AA1050 aluminum sheet produced by the twin roll casting process was used in this study. The deformations were performed basically in 4 paths: i) conventional rolling, 70% reduction, ii) ECAE 1-8 passes, iii) ECAE 1-4 passes followed by conventional rolling with reduction of 70% and iv) Asymetric Rolling with reductions 30-50%. The mechanical and microstructural characterization of the deformed state was performed and the formability after annealing heat treatment was studied. ECAE deformation reduced the grain size, which measured by EBSD and transmission electron microscopy yield 1 micrometer. The evolution of equivalent strain compared with the increase of the hardness indicated a grain size stabilization of the grain/cell after four ECAE extrusion passes. After 8 passes the fraction of high angle boundaries exceeded the low-angle boundaries, ie dynamic recrystallization occurred during deformation. The texture after one pass ECAE approached the ideal texture for a 120 ° ECAE die. For deformations with 4 - 8 ECAE passes, the texture evolved into scattering the orientations having the {111} plane parallel to the surface ( fiber), and into the formation of rotated cube {100} <110> and rotated Goss {110} <110> orientations. The conventional rolling after ECAE returned the orientations to typical rolling textures: brass, copper and Goss. Deformation by asymmetric rolling with a difference of tangential velocity of 1.2 imposed shear stress, but it was necessary to decrease the reduction rate from 10% to 5% per pass in order to appreciably modify the texture. Comparing the formability of the deformed material, it was observed that ECAE increased the penetration depth in the Erichsen test, while rolling decreased the Erichsen index. Asymmetric rolling reduced the intensity of texture and destroyed the symmetry of the crystallographic orientations. The asymmetric rolled sample presented better formability than the rolled samples. After annealing, the samples of conventional rolling, with or without ECAE pre - strain, showed typical textures of annealed laminated material with high cube texture type. The fiber was not stable in the ECAE annealed samples. Although the overall texture intensity remained low, increasing ECAE deformation before heat treatment strengthened the Goss {110} <001> orientation. For the asymmetric rolling the fiber orientations <100>// ND was scattered and both rotated cube and cube orientations were present. The lowest index of planar anisotropy was obtained in the sample annealed after four ECAE passes, representing a lower tendency to fail, This sample also presented an index of penetration in Erichsen testing of the same order of conventionally rolled sheets. It has been shown that both ECA as the asymmetric rolling deformation can significantly modify the texture of deformation and annealing, and improve the characteristics of formability of aluminum alloy 1050. This processing step should be located at the end of mechanical forming process before final annealing.Item type:Item, Identificação e extração semiautomática de contextos definitórios em corpus com vistas à redação da definição terminológica: proposta de sistematização linguística para a língua portuguesa(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-08-18) ;Kamikawachi, Dayse Simon Landim ;Almeida, Gladis Maria de Barcellos ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/4046789388750478https://lattes.cnpq.br/7846039422136199Computational tools in Natural Language Processing (NLP) are essential in handling electronic texts. Some of the resources commonly used are: frequency counters, word lists, keywords, and concordancers. It is noteworthy that this last tool, which terminologists use to view and extract defining contexts for certain terms, is useful in the stage of writing terminological definitions. Depending on the term and corpus size, the list of concordances may exceed a few hundred lines, making the task of defining the term extremely time-consuming. Yet, while concordancers facilitate the task of writing definitions, studies in terminology (ALARCÓN, 2009) and NLP (KLAVANS; MURESAN, 2001) have shown that it is possible to develop linguistic formalism that can be a substrate for the generation or enrichment of a system capable of detecting such contexts. While research in this direction has already been undertaken for English, Spanish, German, and French, among other languagesǡ research on Portuguese needs a more accurate linguistic explanation of defining context, in order to serve as a base for the development of similar systems for the Portuguese language. Therefore, the goals of this research are as follows: 1) to investigate the patterns of defining contexts found in technical corpora in Portuguese, 2) to provide linguistic knowledge which can be formalised computationally to create a system of semi-automatic extraction of candidate defining contexts, and 3) to evaluate the results generated. As the study’s corpus, we used scientific articles from the Bank of Portuguese (LAEL-PUC), and for the analysis, the following verbs were chosen: nomear ‘to name’, conceber ‘to conceive’, chamar ‘to call’, entender ‘to understand’, conhecer ‘to know’ and denominar ‘to denominate’. It was possible to do: 1) a quantitative and qualitative description of each verbal definitory pattern, 2) a local grammar for the chosen verbs with the purpose of aiding in the semiautomatic retrieval of definitory contexts, 3) an exclusion grammar to serve as a stoplist for local grammars and 4) a set of heuristics for a semiautomatic definitory context classifier. The evaluation of the lexical-syntactic rules of these six verbs showed 64% accuracy and 92% coverage in the global average, which represents an optimistic result in comparison to the results of previous studies. As a result, it was possible to 1) validate the methodology used, making it possible to extend it to other lexical-syntactic patterns and 2) obtain linguistic knowledge in order to integrate a semiautomatic computational system for definitory context candidates extraction for the Portuguese language.Item type:Item, Modificação química de poli(ácido láctico) com anidrido maleico por processamento reativo(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-08-18) ;Rigolin, Talita Rocha ;Bettini, Sílvia Helena Prado ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3687551763124327https://lattes.cnpq.br/9580513904975670The chemical modification of PLA with maleic anhydride by reactive processing and the extent of reaction and degradation reactions, were studied. Routes of grafting reaction of maleic anhydride in PLA were evaluated. Dicumyl peroxide (DCP), as initiator, and maleic anhydride (MA) for modification of the PLA, were used. Acidity levels of the compositions were obtained by titration technique of the acid groups and observed an increase in acidity of the modified PLA s, with steep increase in the sample of PLA-g-MA, produced in the presence of DCP. During the PLA modification, with MA, was observed a reduction of 45% in Mn, measured by SEC. In order to analyse the reaction routes, PLA/PBAT blends were produced. Compatibilization of the blend was performed by two ways, one using in situ PLA/PBAT modification and the other using a pre-modified PLA (PLA-g-MA). A blend without MA (PLA/PBAT) was used as reference. In according with the observed mechanical behavior, a synergic effect is observed for PLA-g-MA/PBAT blend, despite low molecular weight of PLA matrix.Item type:Item, O impulso utópico em The Wanting Seed(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-08-18) ;Silva, Débora Heloisa da ;Ferreira, Carla Alexandra ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5522506928191940https://lattes.cnpq.br/6909920465608693This dissertation seeks to analyze the dystopic novel The Wanting Seed (1962), by the English writer Anthony Burgess with the objective of identifying in which way both structure and the development of the work points to, at an aesthetic level, the global feeling of utopia, which Fredric Jameson (2007) calls utopic desire or utopic impulse, which is present in daily life, in politics, in social movements and revolutions. Through the political reading, this research tries to show that, far beyond a novel about a degenerated future by overpopulation, this book presents, in its formal contradictions, much from the social, political and economic global movement of which it is part.Item type:Item, A relação gestão escolar e trabalho docente: estudo de caso numa escola municipal de Votorantim/SP.(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-08-19) ;Araújo, Tiago Antônio de ;Nascimento, Fabrício do ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/3496410597486943 ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5810317013662335Nogueira, Eliete JussaraIn this work we present a qualitative study conducted in a municipal elementary school located in the city of Votorantim (SP). Informants participated in the survey as the team manager (director and education coordinator) and four teachers who teach in the early grades of elementary school. The main objectives of the research were: to determine whether the educational activities of the management team interfere in teaching developed in the studied school, see how the management team has been trying to implement improvements in the educational processes, and also the principles of a democratic management are used by the management team on ways to manage and organize the school. As an instrument of data collection, semistructured interviews, participant observation of the context of the subject and document analysis of school records were made. The data obtained in the investigative process were organized into categories for analysis, according to the research questions previously developed. As a result, it is concluded that the school management team seeks to engage democratically with the community, teachers, staff and students, so that its action seeks to collaborate with the teaching work, given the participatory work with teachers, in which subjects and anxieties brought on the context of the classroom are discussed and referrals are collectively determined.Item type:Item, Estudo de fibras de folhas de abacaxis (gênero Ananas) e sua utilização em compósitos biodegradáveis com matriz de poli(ácido lático) (PLA)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-08-19) ;Sena Neto, Alfredo Rodrigues de ;Mattoso, Luiz Henrique Capparelli ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5839043594908917https://lattes.cnpq.br/5212303626376503In this work natural fibers from new pineapple varieties were studied aiming at their application as mechanical reinforcement for green polymer composites. Eighteen varieties of pineapple leave fibers (PALFs) were then characterized in terms of their morphology, structural arrangement (cellulose crystallinity index (Ic) and microfibril angle), chemical composition (extractives, lignin, holocellulose, cellulose and hemicellulose contents), mechanical properties (tensile strength, elastic modulus and fracture strain) and thermal stability. The studied PALFs had low microfibril angles and high Ic. Their elastic modulus, tensile strength and degradation temperature onset ranged between 15GPa-86GPa, 212MPa-1309MPa, 240°C 272ºC, respectively. All these parameters enabled to nominate the eighteen PALFs as suitable reinforcements for polymers. Close relationships between cellulose, holocellulose and Ic values, and thermal and mechanical properties of PALFs were found out, what provided guidelines for direct selection and/or to support a genetic improvement program of the Ananas genus. An example of such a methodology was presented in this work. The fiber from the pineapple variety called "Potyra" was selected to produce biodegradable composites with poly(lactic acid) (PLA) through injection molding. The Potyra fibers were before hand treated with alkaline solution in order to improve their interfacial compatibility with PLA. The treated Potyra fibers-reinforced composite exhibited an increased elastic modulus from 1,9 GPa to 3,5GPa, tensile strength from 58,8 to 69,6MPa, and notched impact strength from 2,57kJ/m2 to 4,26kJ/m2 in comparison to the pure PLA matrix. The HDT of the PLA was also incremented by 10% due to the fiber incorporation. These findings confirmed the promising potential of Potyra fibers as reinforcements in green composite technologies.Item type:Item, Atividades e problemas de geometria espacial para o ensino médio(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-08-19) ;Grillo, Jean Daniel ;Paterlini, Roberto Ribeirohttps://lattes.cnpq.br/6240750958932738This dissertation presents as the main product a didactic proposal for spatial geometry classes in high school. The motivation for creating this proposal began with the observation of the author that the approach of spatial geometry only with the lecture method is not sufficient to provide an effective construction of abstract geometric objects. The proposal starts with planning of experiments in geometric solids, particularly the cube, with the aim of promoting the construction of abstract geometrical objects of three dimensions. In following problems using these lesson plans for solving some challenges that combine the visualization unfolds with the space object, as well as provide the contextualization of spatial geometry are proposed. The proposal is focused on the idea of proposing non-traditional activities, in which students work in groups to develop proposals with the least possible interference from the teacher. The proposal also adopts suggestions from official documents such as the National Curricular Parameters (PCN) and Curricular Proposal of the State of São Paulo, as well as authors and researchers, indicate that the use of experimentation and problem solving. For this didactic proposal was implemented by constructing "Activity Sheets" containing the activities to be performed by students with enough information for them to understand and can answer questions. These sheets were applied to three classes of high school and the results analyzed to enable the validation of educational product with eventual correction. We believe that students performed well the tasks and the work was important for their learning. There were some difficulties on their part and we interpret that this happened because they never had prior contact with this form of study. We understand that our educational product is validated with this application and we can make them available to fellow teachers, who can directly apply in similar circumstances to our pedagogical or adaptations in other environments.Item type:Item, Trajetória escolar: desafios e possibilidades da Socioeducação na cidade do Recife (PE)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-08-20) ;Pessoa, Vanessa Karla Souza ;Fonseca, Débora Cristina ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/8595226338503481https://lattes.cnpq.br/3303280636896122The present study, developed in the line of research for Social Practices and Educational Processes, second major theme, investigated the facts that are related to the schooling process, from the reality of teenagers whose had fulfillment of educative-partner measures in open environment in the municipality of Recife, and who were being monitored through the Specialized Social Assistance Reference Center (Centro de Referência Especializado de Assistência Social – CREAS) and their school itself. The adolescents in this research are male, have the age bracket of fifteen (15) to eighteen (18) uncompleted years and were in socio- educational monitoring by the team of one out of six (06) city CREAS, presenting abandonment and educational failure history records. Besides them, professionals of CREAS and the academic environment were heard. The adolescents arrive to the educational services stigmatized as marginals, bandits and dangerous. It is up to the socio-educative politics, social assistance and education to recognize them as worthy subjects, with access to basic social services, in a way to compensate for all their insufficient trajectory or total absence of the state’s protective measures when it comes to access to school and minimal necessary social conditions to survive. Focus groups were performed with the participant adolescents and semi structured interviews with their relatives and professionals from CREAS, alongside professionals from the schools were made. It was adopted the materialist, historical and dialectical perspective as theoretical fundament to the defense of a social education, human-emancipation-oriented and ethical assumptions in an emancipating education. The results of this research point three (03) analyzing categories: survival need and life project; racism and prejudice; educational failure and the synthesis category: the research as social practicing: the insurgency of educational processes. The categories dialogue about the struggles that surface in the context of social exclusion, in which the participating adolescents are submerged regarding the full access of educational rights. The social context presented brings violent scaring, miserability, discrimination and prejudice, characterized by a society which gives preference to macroeconomic politics and still need to better develop educational processes in social practices from public services by the community which promote socio-education and can relate to human resources alongside values, attitude, positions and posture changes in their lives. Reflecting, like so, the need of emancipating public politics in a socially transforming perspective.Item type:Item, Africanidades e educação popular: uma análise de propostas e vivências pedagógicas de movimentos negros em Sorocaba(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-08-20) ;Silva, Mariana Martha de Cerqueira ;Pereira, Dulcinéia de Fátima Ferreira ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/9339578170693084https://lattes.cnpq.br/6083262350667325This dissertation is about a survey that had the intention of reassuring the importance of approaching african and afro-brazilian history and culture in educational processes as from the dialogues between and with the black movement and relating brasilian´s africanidades to popular education perspective. The All-purpose Technical Assistance Coordination (from Portuguese, Coordenadoria de Assistência Técnica Integral CATI), an entity in which the act constituting the extension agents of this study, is the organ of the State Department of Agriculture and Food Supply responsible for actions of public extension with rural producers in the State of São Paulo. The absence of an institutional project focused on the rural tourism constituted motivation to gather aspects of care of the extension of CATI demand producers in this area as well as it realizes that there is a concern with a tour that is developed in a more sustainable way. In this sense, the goal of this dissertation was to survey elements on the perception of extension agents to justify the construction of an institutional program covering training activities and planning that will encourage them to expand their awareness and critical review of rural tourism phenomenon as a development vector. The research constituted of a recess, within the set of 645 municipalities of São Paulo, which considered those with rural tourism as prominent activity from two different criteria, resulting in a sample of 87 municipalities. To collect the data we used a questionnaire that sought, in the opinion of extension working with producers in the sampled counties, its profile and it characterizes its performance under rural tourism as well as to know their perception of the importance of the work of this extension segment and on sustainability elements related to tourism. From the collected data it was noted that, in general, the technical team acknowledges the role of the extension service in the context of rural tourism, as well as under the point of view of the development of economic activity, as the role of articulation and mediation that can be assumed by extension. However, this research pointed to some limitations that need to be overcome, namely: motivational issues, partly caused by the lack of incentives from the institution to standardize and to enhance the standard of care demands of tourism; the lack of specific technical knowledge on tourism; the need to increase their knowledge beyond environmental approach in the context of sustainable tourism development, with the expectation aid in understanding the strengths inherent to the phenomenon of tourism conflicts. Accordingly, an investment in differentiated capabilities would be essential in building a CATI statewide program, guided to the qualifying holding its extension agents in the context of rural tourism process.Item type:Item, Frações: estratégias lúdicas no ensino da matemática(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-08-21) ;Valio, Denise Teresa de Camargo ;Soares, Márcio de Jesushttps://lattes.cnpq.br/3273672989988386The main aim of this master´s degree dissertation is the Mathematics teaching as well as the pedagogical and teaching practices related to the topic of rational numbers, particularly, fractions. The Fractions project, main title of this paper, aims at reaching not only basic education students but also educators with the objective of proposing understandable and attractive ways of teaching the subject matter in focus. The methodology applied in learning rational numbers in their fractional form was achieved through the playful and practical exercises involving two groups of 6th graders in the Fundamental from public schools. The material handling and display of results contribute to the construction of knowledge on Mathematics and consequently its learning. The teaching activities and experiments are the hallmark and engine for the development of this dissertation project due to the fact that the use of manipulable material (graded PET bottles, funnels and water) ensures originality to the teaching/learning relationship of Mathematics.Mathematical concepts such as equivalence and comparison between fractions and even basic operations (addition and subtraction) purposely confine in the teaching sequences carried out in the educational project.Item type:Item, Um novo olhar para a matemática financeira no ensino médio(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-08-21) ;Tamião, Fabio Carlos Badanai ;Caetano, Paulo Antônio Silvani ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/0370219014539994https://lattes.cnpq.br/1980715038108898The teaching of financial mathematics is of great importance in the basic education curriculum. The students are challenged all the time with everyday situations involving the concepts of interest, discounts, financing, among others. In this work, we present the idealization and implementation of a didactic sequence, grounded in the perspective of Didactic Engineering, targeting a significant learning of Financial Mathematics in High School, with contextualized problem situations, use of scientific calculator, spreadsheets and computer software.Item type:Item, Estudo da sensibilidade barorreflexa e sua relação com a produção de citocinas inflamatórias no processo de envelhecimento(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-08-21) ;Milan, Juliana Cristina ;Catai, Aparecida Mariahttps://lattes.cnpq.br/7618794015038906Aging causes changes in several human subsystems such as the cardiovascular and immune systems. The objective of this study was to evaluate the relationship between baroreflex function through linear algorithm (cross-spectral analysis) and proinflammatory cytokines in the aging process and also assess the baroreflex sensitivity, TNF-α, IL-6 and hsCRP in different ages and in the aging process. One hundred and ten apparently healthy subjects divided into 5 groups with 22 individuals each, according to age were evaluated: 21-30 years, 30-40 years, 40-50 years, 50-60 years, 60-70 years. The experimental protocol consisted of a blood samples collection for analysis of inflammatory markers and in the same day were collected ECG, blood pressure and respiratory movements for 15 minutes in the supine position and in standing position, after the active postural change for 15 minutes. For the analysis of baroreflex sensitivity cross spectral analysis (coherence, phase and gain) was used and ELISA method for analysis of TNF-α and IL-6 was used. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance one-way ANOVA test with Tukey test post-hoc or Kruskal-Wallis oneway ANOVA with Dunn's post-hoc according to the normality of the data and the Spearman correlation test. The level of significance for the tests was 5%. The main results were: 1) reduced baroreflex sensitivity during the aging process; 2) increased levels of inflammatory markers in the aging process; 3) negative correlation between IL-6 and BF gain and phase; 4) negative relationship between hsCRP and coherence, phase and gain in BF. It can be concluded that the human natural aging causes a loss of baroreflex sensitivity and increased serum levels of inflammatory markers studied, although the decrease in baroreflex sensitivity as function of the decreasing of vagal autonomic function occurred in the 41-50 age range, and only in the next age was observed changes in inflammatory markers.Item type:Item, Balanço de carbono e atividade enzimática na decomposição aeróbia e anaeróbia de três macrófitas aquáticas em diferentes temperaturas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-08-21) ;Passerini, Mariana Duó ;Bianchini Júnior, Irineu ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/0659731944736389https://lattes.cnpq.br/1982495528270707Macrophytes constitute the set of plants that evolutionarily returned to live in aquatic environments. They are widely distributed in the world and are characterized by a type of vegetation with high rates of primary production. Decomposition rates of these plants are influenced by biotic (i.e. decomposition community) and abiotic (i.e. temperature, dissolved oxygen, ion concentration) factors. Thus, were analyzed during the in vitro decomposition of three aquatic macrophytes with different habits of life (Eichhornia azurea, Eleocharis sp. e Salvinia auriculata): the carbon balance and the mass loss, the activities of the enzymes cellulase (C1 and Cx), xylanase, peroxidase and polyphenol oxidase and its influences on the decomposition of lignocellulosic compounds; and temporal variations of pH, conductivity, degree of aromatization and the content of C:N:P in the dissolved fraction of the chamber of decomposition at different temperatures and under aerobic and anaerobic conditions. For this, chambers of decomposition were prepared with dried plants in a sample of water from the dam of the Beija-Flor (municipality of Luís Antônio, SP - Brazil) fragments. Incubations were kept under aerobic and anaerobic conditions and 4 temperatures (15, 20, 25 e 30 oC). A first-order kinetic model was adopted to describe and compare the kinetics of decomposition of macrophytes. The result analysis concluded that due to heterogeneity of debris, decomposition had biphasic pattern of mass loss, with labile/soluble fraction (COPls ≈ 15.4; 10.6 and 10.7 % for E. azurea, Eleocharis sp. and S. auriculata, respectively) and refractory ( CO ≈ 84.2; 89.4 and 89.0% for E. azurea, Eleocharis sp. and S. auriculata, respectively). Soluble/labile fraction showed mass loss coefficients higher (1.4; 2.0 and 1.0 dia-1 for E. azurea, Eleocharis sp. and S. auriculata, respectively) than the refractory fraction (0.0009; 0.0034 and 0.0014 dia-1 for E. azurea, Eleocharis sp. and S. auriculata, respectively). Both extrinsic factors (i.e. temperature and dissolved oxygen) as well the chemical composition of the plant influenced the decomposition process. Extrinsic fatoress, however, acted so as to lead to decomposition, accepting the hypothesis tested. The habit of life not directly influenced the mass loss.Item type:Item, Decomposição anaeróbia de Hedychium coronarium J. Koenig e Urochloa subquadripara (Trin.) R.D. Webster em meios com Zn e Pb(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-08-22) ;Moitas, Marcel Loyo ;Santino, Marcela Bianchessi da Cunha ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/2356641063223397https://lattes.cnpq.br/0414158639366574The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of Zn and Pb in the anaerobic decomposition of aquatic macrophytes. Considering this purpose, bioassays with Hedychium coronarium coronarium and Urochloa subquadripara from Fazzari and Espraiado lagoons (São Carlos, SP, Brazil) were performed in laboratory. The kinetics of macrophytes detritus decompositions was conducted during 100 days. The pH, electrical conductivity and ratio E4/E6 was measured along this period. This procedure was carried under 6 experimental conditions: C1 (control), C2 (control plus KNO3), Zn95 (95.3 mg.L-1), Zn2 (2.0 mg.L-1), Pb6 (6.0 mg.L-1) and Pb06 (0.06 mg.L-1). Each of these conditions was also tested under two temperatures (15°C and 25°C) with the aim of evaluate the seasonality effect on the process. The organic and inorganic carbon data was fit to a kinetics model. Zinc and lead concentrations decreased the rate of particulate organic carbon loss of H. coronarium, which was observed by lower k4 and kT values. The highest zinc concentration performed the most aggressive effect causing very little loss of particulate organic carbon. Also mineralization of H. coronarium did not occur in any of the experimental conditions including control (C1), which can be associated with antimicrobial effect of some natural products in the plant. The COP loss and the COD increase were possibly related to fermentative microorganisms. The organic carbon breakdown was the only process represented by the mathematical model adopted. Zinc and lead concentrations decreased or increased U. subquadripara refractory organic carbon loss (k4) depending on condition. These differences are probably related to interactions of metals with the macrophyte detritus and humic substances produced along the process, changing thus the bioavailability of metals for heterotrophic microorganisms. Also, the highest zinc concentration condition (Zn95) had a negative effect on mineralization of U. subquadripara, showing that metal can affect mineralization and organic carbon decay independently. Overall, the kinetic model used represented the decomposition dynamics of U. subquadripara. The temperature showed a positive correlation with both plants detritus breakdown. We conclude the Zn and Pb can play a driving force role on the anaerobic decomposition of macrophytes, reducing or inhibiting heterotrophic activity. Also, we conclude that Zn and Pb had different effects for H. coronarium and U. subquadripara. Zinc showed independent effect on mineralization and POC breakdown processes. Finally, metals adsorption on detritus and humic substances are processes that determine its influence on decomposition.Item type:Item, Princípios norteadores para o planejamento de cursos de línguas para propósitos específicos em curso superior tecnológico (manutenção de aeronaves): considerando visões de aprendizes, instituição formadora e empregadores(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2014-08-22) ;Terenzi, Daniela ;Augusto-Navarro, Eliane Hercules ;https://lattes.cnpq.br/5716027350340906https://lattes.cnpq.br/1793732479966869The technological higher education has expanded significantly in Brazil and there is a connection between the world of science and technology and the English language (CELANI, 2008). The technological higher education context, therefore, provides a rich environment for investigations considering the language teaching process, especially English. Actions are needed to adjust language teaching to the requirements of this context (ALMEIDA FILHO, 2008). Commonly, studies on needs analysis, which guide the planning of language courses for specific purposes, focus exclusively on the perspective of learners but, at the beginning of their undergraduate program, these needs may not be clear to them (ANTHONY, 1997; AUGUSTO-NAVARRO et al, 2012). Bearing that in mind, our research aims at discussing the planning of English for specific purposes courses in higher education, taking into account three perspectives: the educational institution, based on its official documents (program and syllabus); learners, considering their interests and perceptions of needs and, finally, the labor market, represented by employers of companies that hire the professionals who graduate from the technological program in focus: Aircraft Maintenance Technology. Data collection was performed using questionnaires and document analysis. The results show that there are similarities and differences, especially between the expectations of learners and the demands of the labor market compared to the objectives presented in the syllabus. Based on the obtained results and on theoretical issues considering language teaching for specific purposes discussed by many authors, we present principles aiming at sensitizing and guiding professionals involved in language for specific purposes course planning.
