(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2016-02-16) Carvalho, Carolina Cisoto Barbosa de; Rigolin, Camila Carneiro Dias; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2388584081961836; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2804542810761341
The woman´s access to higher education and academic career is na achievement. More and more women occupy the graduation chairs, getting to many areas of knowledge, occupying more than half of the places offered. But the number of women found in the highest scientific career positions remains low. What happened along this career path that prevents women able to ascend vertically? The glass ceiling assumption seems to define the force that keeps women in lower hierarchical positions. The glass ceiling is formed not by one, but by many barriers and obstacles that add up acting often in the loss of women throughout their careers. This work seeks to understand a little of the professional lives of researches who managed to get to a privileged elite of science, the "National Counsel of Technological and Scientific Development" – CNPq grant recipients in research, with the intention to diagnose the nature and impact of gender differences throughout the scientific career. From this point is possible to draw up suggestions for actions that seek to provide an institutional environment with equal opportunities for both genders.

Currently higher education institutions are under pressure given to the current demand for innovation of their efforts, not only in the context of research, but also in relation to education. The technological context for the insertion of digital technologies as a way to improve teaching and learning contents, procedures and attitudes are increasingly promising with the possibility of making them more suited to the reality that surrounds students. However, how teachers have appropriated these technologies for teaching in order to help their students in the construction of knowledge? Facing this question, this paper aims to investigate how music teachers of a higher education federal public institution utilize an electronic educational game as a music education tool. This work also falls within the framework of the discussions on how teacher training deals with Digital Technologies of Information and Communication, proposing an investigation of how these technologies are presented or taught during the process of teacher training, both in initial training and continued education proposals. The research methodology's focus is qualitative and descriptive. Data collection was based on empirical sources obtained from semi-structured interviews with music education teachers working in higher education at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). In addition to the analysis of data from the interviews, it was also intended to follow practical applications of the educational game Musikinésia, which could be explored into the keyboard classes of Bachelor of Music course from UFSCar as a resource that helps the students to learn the instrument keys. The results of these applications showed that, in fact, a game can bring learning benefits to students, however, it was also witnessed some difficulty by teachers in dealing with this technology, which alerts us to rethink how the preparation courses degree are training future teachers to think critically when it comes to digital technologies.

Our object of study is a videoclasses service (videoaula@rnp) over the Internet, maintained by the National Network of Education and Research (RNP). To approach it will use the Actor- Network Theory. We propose here to look at the crossings between software, public officials and laboratories. The software available for publishing videoclasses by RNP is a Free Software called RIOComposer. This has become a link between free software and distance education. Obviously, this link is not given in a simple way and involves, on our part, a study of the Free Software and the RNP. Besides that, the movement of some laboratories involved with the creation of RIOComposer and other solutions for distance education will be observed. We will monitor the principles that guided the first Free Software developers, as their initial consequences. For that, some authors of social sciences, who proposed to examine the Free Software, will be used. About RNP, we will deal with its various initiatives involving the spread of high-speed networks for the Brazilian academic community and the development of solutions in Information and Communication Technologies. The selected laboratories will be seen in its relations with the Free Software and RNP.

Subordinação fractal para operadores de Schrödinger unidimensionais
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2016-02-16) Bazão, Vanderléa Rodrigues; Carvalho, Silas Luiz de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1589518857002416; Oliveira, César Rogério de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5485204156806697; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9750908467927926
We study fractal subordinacy theory for one-dimensional Schrödinger operators. First, we review results on Hausdorff subordinacy for discrete one-dimensional Schrödinger operators in order to analyze the differences and similarities of these results with respect to the packing setting. By using methods of packing subordinacy, we have obtained pac- king continuity properties of spectral measures of such operators. Then, we apply these methods to Sturmian operators with rotation number of quasibounded density to show that they have purely α-packing continuous spectrum. Moreover, we show that spectral fractal dimensional properties of discrete Schrödinger operators with Sturmian potentials of bounded density and with sparse potentials are preserved under suitable polynomial decaying perturbations, when the spectrum of these perturbed operators have some singular continuous component. Finally, we performed an introductory study of fractal subordinacy for continuous one-dimensional Schrödinger operators defined in bounded intervals.

This Master's degree research aims to analyze the perception, reception and evaluation of students and the teacher-researcher regarding activities employed from the perspective of Critical Literacies. Theoretical aspects are based on authors like Monte Mór (2008, 2014, 2015), Lankshear and Knobel (2003, 2007), Duboc (2012, 2014), Duboc and Gattolin (2015), Kalantzis and Cope (2008, 2012), Rojo (2009, 2012), Janks (2012, 2013), Janks and Vasquez (2011), Freire (2011), Cervetti et. alii. (2001) and Jordão (2010; 2014), who report the possibility of developing critical features and agency of individuals accounting for the local context. Besides, we seek for understanding considerations about the post-method through Kumaravadivelu (2006) and Abrahão (2009) in order to analyze participants' autonomy development and issues related to teaching practices. Furthermore, we search to find focal points between the two perspectives mentioned before. Considering the qualitative nature of this study, it is under the methodology of a research-action according to Burns (1999; 2010) and Viana (2007), as it takes place in an environment in which the teacher rethinks her practice. The tools used were: survey, aiming to profile and understand the interests of students; the record book of the teacher-researcher, self-evaluation sheets and audio recording of the lessons. These tools enable us to observe the perception of the participants about teaching units, the progress of activities, the attitude of the teacher-researcher, the gaps that took place in the classroom and the curricular attitude of the teacher-researcher before these gaps. The research was carried out at a State Language Study Center, in the state of São Paulo, located in a public school in a small town in the countryside. The organization and analysis of data allowed a reading which indicates the strategies used by the teacher-researcher to improve Critical Literacies and we observe: a) material elaboration; b) perception of the gaps; c) curricular attitude and d) autonomy/agency development. Also, it was possible to observe the improvement of critical features in some participants and as they found it strange, they deconstruct and took different positions as from the discussions regarding the proposed themes.

Global phenomena such as population aging, increased rate of disability, and growing numbers of obese people have gained intense attention within the air transportation industry since it expects increases in travel and changes in the profile of users. However, studies have indicated gaps between the needs of passengers and the services and assistance provided by airlines and airports. Therefore, the objective of this study was to understand the contradictions and discontinuities in the activity systems of passengers with disability, elderly and obese in the Brazilian air transportation originating restrictions to participation during the flight and during the boarding and deplaning process of air travel. In the present study, a qualitative approach was adopted based on Ergonomics and the Activity Theory. The research participants were passengers with physical, visual, and auditory disabilities and elderly and obese passengers. A combination of methods and techniques was used for data collection, including: 14 preliminary interviews in health care organizations and facilities that provide assistance and services for the participant groups and air transportation users, with a total of 25 participants; a questionnaire survey involving 399 respondents; and observations in commercial aviation. A total of 43 non-participant observations were carried out, and other eight participant observations took place during the journey, which included two self-confrontation interviews. The results indicated passenger participation restrictions during the journey affect attitudinal barriers and limited spatial accessibility that are related to airport infrastructure, airport signs, operational factors, equipment, aircrafts, and regulatory aspects. These restrictions are related to contradictions in the interaction of the components of activity system, which include: the passenger, the artifacts, the rules, the community (passengers and workers), the airport operators, and the airlines, and the object of the activity. It was found that, in order to face these difficulties, passengers employ personal and interpersonal strategies. Therefore, specifications were developed to change the contextual factors associated with the environment, equipment, and operations. To promote full participation during the air journey, some changes are needed; primarily transformation in significance and representations for action of people involved in the air transportation and their work activity, seeking to achieve integration between design and use. This study was carried out focusing on the activity, which contributed to the involvement of different social actors; thus the information provided is based on the learning gained from experience and interaction with the subjects and the context aiming to demonstrate the users’ needs and constraints and support new air transport developments.

Counting the number of leukocytes present in the blood vessels is an important task to understand inflammation mechanisms and to assess the effects of drugs that are being developed for the treatment of inflammatory diseases. In general, leukocyte counting is done by an observer (laboratory technician or specialist) using a sequence of intravital microscopy images obtained from blood vessel of an animal testing. However, this procedure is time-consuming, prone to errors, due to visual fatigue of the observer, and biased, due to inter and intra-observer variability. Thus, the objective of this work was the development of computational technique for the automatic detection of leukocytes in intravital video microscopy images. For this, the detection of leukocytes was performed in two main stages. In stage 1, the phase congruency measure, which is invariant to changes of contrast and lighting images, was used to calculate a blobness measure used to detect circular structures in intravital microscopy images. In stage 2, the circular structures detected in stage 1 were analyzed locally to identify only those corresponding to true leukocytes. The results were evaluated using the precision, recall and F1-measure metrics and the area under the precision-recall curves. Furthermore, the proposed technique was compared with the template matching technique.
