The Latin American social issue was built historically by the social relations and concentration of power and wealth of minorities, dominant classes and sectors. Latin America, characterized by economic inequalities and social vulnerabilities, becomes intervention stage of the professionals involved with the social reality and the effectiveness of social policies, as the occupational therapist. The first occupational therapy courses arose in some countries in the region as a technical profession in the 1950s with the support of foreign teachers. Focusing on a scrap from the Latin American context, except the Brazilian reality, this study aimed at understanding how it is carried out the graduate training of occupational therapists to work with contemporary social issues. In 2014 and 2015, period of this study, occupational therapy graduate education was present in 13 countries, in 72 courses, except those allocated in Brazil. To apprehend this scenario, there were employed three moments of data collection and analysis of its results: systematic survey of scientific literature selected in journals of the field and in two occupational therapy congresses held in the region; mapping of the 72 undergraduate courses through the investigation of electronic websites and questionnaires applied with their coordinators, obtaining 40 questionnaires; and conducting 23 interviews remotely with teachers who discuss about social issues in their subjects. The results revealed that the discussions present in the academic formation and scientific literature about the occupational therapeutic activities in socially vulnerable territories, are still scarce and not very representative among the other areas of expertise of the profession, especially those of biomedical nature. Nonetheless, it is observed that has expanded a movement guided in theoretical reflections, more critical and questioning about the use of precepts of individualistic nature towards the social needs of the region. It is considered necessary to develop theoretical and methodological frameworks specific in occupational therapy in Latin American countries, except Brazil, to work with the social question. It is hoped that the study can help to reduce borders between Brazil and the other countries in the region and stimulate new studies in the area regarding the occupational therapy themes and the social issue.

Children with Down syndrome have distinctive features, which can interfere with their whole development. The stimulation, through interventions that contribute positively to their psychomotor factors, is of fundamental importance in the period of development of the child. The use of video games in a not immersive virtual reality mode can help with psychomotor profile through games that stimulate the movement. The present study aims to verify the effect of an intervention with exergames on the psychomotor profile of children with Down syndrome. The study was conducted with five children, in which four of them attended a Special Education Institution and one that attended a group of information in a medium-sized town in the countryside of the State of São Paulo, all of them diagnosed with Down syndrome, aged between 8 and 10. The pre and post test delimitation was used to verify if there was a change in the psychomotor behavior. As instrument of data collection it was applied Vitor da Fonseca's Psychomotor Battery in order to evaluate the children's psychomotor profile. Afterwards, an intervention was carried out with the children for three months, twice a week, using the Xbox 360 Kinect videogame, with games involving movement / sport and dance, covering psychomotor skills worked on the Battery. All collection procedures were filmed. After the intervention the Psychomotor Battery was reapplied with all the children to identify if there were effects of the intervention in the psychomotor profile. The data of the Battery were analyzed according to the psychomotor factors, separately. The scores were calculated according to the Battery protocol and, thus, determining the psychomotor profile. The Excel program was used to verify the effect of the intervention, in the pre and post test, comparing these values. The sessions were analyzed from the filming and images obtained during the interventions. In addition, it was also analyzed the cursive record in which the participant's game scores were scored, as well as the notes regarding their behavior, or any event that deserved attention. The results showed that all participants achieved gains. Participants 1, 2 and 5 had a normal profile in the pre- and post-test, but there were gains in the score, having the initial mark: 14, 15 and 15 and final mark: 17, 17 and 16 respectively. Participants 3 and 4 had a dyspraxic profile in the pre-test and normal profile post-test, with initial mark: 12 and 13 and final mark: 14 and 14 respectively. The psychomotor subfactors that all the participants obtained gains were the Tonicity and Fine Praxis. With that, it can be concluded that the intervention with Xbox videogame provides benefits for the child with Down syndrome, stimulating the psychomotor development of these children.

This research aims to verify the thermal environment of a campus university, by evaluating the relative contribution of urban elements towards the modification of the air temperature. For this purpose, real data of air temperature were collected at several points of the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). These were then related to the local urban indexes, by applying the technique of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), in order to develop a prediction model. This analysis considered three different scales of approaching, taking the radius of 25, 50 and 100 meters as references. Within the areas of these radii, the Occupation Coefficient (OC), the Urban Vegetation Coefficient (UVC), the Sky View Factor (SVF) and the Ground Cover Coefficient (GCC) were estimated. This method allowed the observation of interactions among these urban parameters and the thermal tendencies. The mathematical model developed by ANN training process was identified and described to be incorporated into a Geographical Information System. By this procedure, thematic maps were developed and, consequently, a microclimatic classification for the case study was proposed. The results pointed out that the urban indexes under investigation presented different relative importance according to the scale of analysis. For the diurnal period, the urban indexes had significant influence in the air temperatures of the Campus. Furthermore, the Urban Vegetation Coefficient was one of the most important parameters in the determination of the thermal patterns reached in the Campus area.

Down syndrome is a genetic alteration that results in some specific characteristics, for example, the delayed motor development and hypotonia. Stimulate motor skills of people with Down syndrome is very important to promote benefits such as autonomy, independence, resourcefulness and motor. Among the alternatives to provide this stimulus, this research worked with badminton, characterized as a racket sport responsible for stimulating the manipulative skills of its practitioners. This study aimed to analyze the effects of a badminton program in manipulative skills involved in this mode in adolescents with Down syndrome, and had the specific objective to describe the teaching strategies and learning resources used in badminton training for adolescents with Down syndrome and analyze the individual performance of each participant. Thus, a multiple baseline design was used to verify that the proposed activities of teaching influenced in learning the forehand skills; backhand; and serve. The teaching program was applied twice a week, lasting 30 minutes in which, each session consisted of three activities. The student took the 16 educational sessions to learn the proposed skills, and activities have been proven effective for teaching the forehand and backhand, however, the withdrawal of skill the student has achieved only 20% correct. Student B also needed 16 sessions and activities were effective for all three skills. In contrast, the pupil C, 18 needed teaching sessions, even though the student has taken longer to perform the forehand, the activities were effective for the three skills teaching. The elaborate badminton program highlighted some pedagogical resources that assisted learning of the participants, like balls of various sizes and different rackets. As teaching strategies include offering students the opportunity to choose the material to be used, demonstration, and the gradual removal by launching the shuttle for the hit. We conclude that the training program was effective to teach manipulative skills badminton students with Down syndrome, and teaching strategies and teaching resources facilitate the teaching - learning, thus making the sport accessible to the public concerned .

The access to a well sorted healthcare system – one that provides services and medical and multidisciplinary care – by rural populations is poor. Difficulties in accessing these services strengthen the exclusion of the peasant. In addition, farming can expose families to environmental, ergonomic and incidental risks, putting their health in danger. These findings can be used to ponder the failures involving healthcare programs for rural populations. Caring involves respect for beliefs, values, the feelings of others and also the feelings of oneself, enhancing one’s interior space. Care is existential, relational, contextual and complex, built by beings that take and receive care. Healthcare is understood here as any action intended to promote, maintain or restore health. It includes health as a dynamic factor in life, always singular, founded on the ceaseless activity of being alive and corresponding to the ability to face adversity and to expand living conditions. In this study, healthcare is taken as a social practice that manifests the cultural peculiarities of those who practice it and generates interactions between individuals and the natural, social and cultural environments in which they live in. In social practices, some educational processes understood as relationships in which individuals give meaning to each other and the world they acquire their experiences, are promoted. Actions and relationships are developed within the social practices in order to secure the material and symbolic survival of groups and also solve problems they face. This study aims at investigating the educational processes on healthcare developed by women from a settlement located in the central area of the state of São Paulo. Both activities and reflections involved in the ongoing process of praxis and building of knowledge in health are considered healthcare. The methodology used is the Participative Research, with coexistence and dialogue as methodological principles. Participant observations and semi-structured interviews were conducted. By the analysis of the collected data the following analytical categories were seized: 1) Joint actions and collective work; 2) Living together, cohabiting and sharing; 3) Intergenerational relations; 4) Home acquaintanceship; 5) Going public; and 6) The space of popular healthcare practices. It is shown the importance of learning from the peasant women whose healthcare practices contribute to overcoming inequalities and challenges imposed to them and maintain their material and symbolic survival and an effective healthcare promotion to rural populations. This work aims at strengthening health care actions performed by these women from a dialogical process of research building, expecting that hopefully it will bring more visibility to their actions in academic, political and social means.

Medindo um envolvimento paterno multidimensional: validação brasileira do inventory of father involvement
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2016-02-23) Santis, Ligia de; Barham, Elizabeth Joan; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9868595523538592; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3392206001969455
Research indicates that the involvement of fathers in raising their children results in benefits for their children’s development, their marital relationships and their sense of competence as fathers. However, it is difficult to evaluate intervention programs that aim to strengthen interactions between fathers and their children, in Brazil, as there is not a model of father involvement based on the integration of results of empirical studies, and there are no validated instruments available to measure father involvement. As such, the objectives of this study were to: (a) review and integrate the results of empirical studies of father involvement (Study 1), and (b) continue efforts to validate the Inventory of Father Involvement (IFI), already translated and adapted for use in Brazil (IFI-BR) (Study 2). In Study 1, 39 full texts that included data on father involvement were retrieved via a systematic search of databases (APA PsycNET, Bireme, PEPSIC, Web of Science (using the periódicos CAPES gateway) and IndexPsi Periódicos) using the keywords “involvement” and “father”, crossed with “measure”, “scale”, “tool” or “instrument”, in both the English and Portuguese languages. The model presented synthesizes the results of these studies, representing an advance in theory development in this area by integrating factors that influence father involvement and outcomes for the different people involved in this context. In Study 2, participants included 200 fathers of children between 5 to 10 years of age, residing in two cities in the interior of the State of São Paulo, Brazil. The fathers were 39.5 years old (sd = 7.42), on average; 91% reported being married or cohabiting; 46.7% stated that they had completed an undergraduate university degree, and 35.9% had either completed high school or had not yet completed their undergraduate studies. The instruments used in this study included: the IFI-BR; the Social Skills Rating System-BR, or the Inventário Portage Operacionalizado (modified), depending on the age of the child; the Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire; a Stress Scale; scales to evaluate difficulties in the quality of the father-child relationship; and the Critério de Classificação Econômica Brasil. For eight of the nine factors of the IFI, the reliability of the IFI-BR varied between .652 and .815. These factors were: a) discipline and teaching responsibility, b) school encouragement, c) mother support, d) providing, e) time and talking together, f) praise and affection, g) reading and homework support, and h) attentiveness. On the basis of a confirmatory factor analysis, in addition to high factor loadings, the final model presented satisfactory indicators of adjustment to the structure of the IFI. With respect to evidence for external validity, correlations varied between .229 and .550 between scores on the IFI-BR and the other measures, confirming relationships observed in previous studies and that are included in the theoretical model of father involvement, presented at the end of Study 1. In future studies, if further evidence for the validity of the Brazilian version of this instrumentcan be obtained, it will be a useful tool for the evaluation of intervention programs that aim to increase father involvement.

The objective of this project is the developing of an immunosensor for detection of a protein biomarker contained in peripheral blood, in this case the ADAM10, that belong to the family of ADAM (A disintegrin and metalloprotease) in order to early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and check the progression of the dementia. The ADAM10 are α-secretase proteins that are involved in the cleavage of the amyloid precursor protein, which has correlation with AD. For this, disposable electrochemical cell based on an array of carbon electrodes was developed using screen-printing technique, which was subsequently coupled to a microfluidic system, in order to reduce the time for analysis as well as the sample consumption for the biomarker detection. In this way, specific monoclonal antibodies for ADAM10 were immobilized from covalent bonds on the surface of the modified electrodes. The electrode was modified by deposition of a polymer followed by a layer of gold nanoparticles by Layer-by-Layer technique. In addition, magnetic particles (MPs) was used decorated with electrochemical markers and specific antibodies for capture of biomarkers in synthetic and real samples. Finally, the electrodes were exposed to the bioconjugate formed by the analyte bounded to MPs following by the detection step, which consisted of the electrochemical response of the enzyme marker present in the MP. As a result, good reproducibility and repeatability among the disposable electrodes were obtained. Parameters such as biomarker capture time and flow rate of the carrier solution was evaluated, in order to ensure the best response for the developed immunosensor. The time of 30 minutes was established as the most efficient for capturing the biomarker, while the flow rate was 100 μL min-1. Once define the best conditions, the analytical curve was developed in calf serum, getting a detection limit of 5.56 fg mL-1, a sensibility of 1.47 nA mL fg [ADAM10]-1 and linear range of 5.56 fg mL-1 on 1,389 pg ml-1. The developed system was applied to the detection of ADAM10 present in real samples of healthy elderly and holders of AD, getting a satisfactory result when compared to that obtained by ELISA (Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay). The proposed method allows to evaluate the expression and progression of the disease in elderly patients. For control patients, it was obtained a lower concentration of ADAM10 when compared to concentrations found in the different stages of AD. Thus, the developed method can bring relevant contributions to an accurate and early diagnosis of AD.

(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2016-02-23) Vasconcelos, Rafael Rodrigo Piva; Franzini, Vanessa Pezza; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0026784530260094; Fadini, Pedro Sérgio; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3255060531838427; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9053923967287619
In this work, we used the cold vapour atomic fluorescence spectrometer technique for quantification of total mercury and methylmercury. The importance of quantification of total mercury in water is associated with toxicity when present in concentrations equal to or greater than those established in the applicable environmental legislation. Since the quantification of methylmercury is necessary because it is the most toxic metal species, easily bioaccumulated and biomagnificated along the food chain. They were used as reference, methods used by: USEPA Method 1631 (2002) - for total mercury and USEPA Method 1630 (2001) - for methyl mercury. Regarding the parameters used to evaluate the analytical performance of the method, the choice was based on the guidance document INMETRO - DOQ - CGCRE - 008 (2011) - Guidance on validation of analytical methods. In practical experimental realization of the study were used for both methylmercury as for total mercury, the following standards: For total mercury concentrations standard solutions were used at concentrations of 2 ng L-1, 8 ng L-1, 20 ng L-1, 100 ng L-1, 200 ng L-1 and 400 ng L-1. Each point calibration curve was analyzed in triplicate to obtain their averages a correlation coefficient (r2) of 0,9998. The calculated detection limit was 0,61 ng L-1 and the calculated quantification was 1,94 ng L-1. The recovery of the analyte was estimated by analysis in triplicate, three (3) different concentrations for each addition level - low level (8 ng L-1), medium (100 ng L-1) and high (400 ng L -1). The recoveries were between 95,1 and 105,9%. Accuracy was calculated by the relative standard deviation (RSD) was obtained having a value of 12,7%. The expanded uncertainty of the method was 18%. For methyl mercury, standard solutions were used at concentrations of 0,25 ng L-1, 1,25 ng L-1, 2,5 ng L-1, 6,25 ng L-1, 12,5 ng L-1 and 25,0 ng L-1. Each point calibration xiii curve was analyzed in triplicate to obtain their averages a correlation coefficient (r2) of 0,9995. The calculated detection limit was 0,08 ng L-1 and the calculated quantification was 0,24 ng L-1. The recovery of the analyte was estimated by analysis in triplicate, three (3) different concentrations for each addition level - low level (2,50 ng L-1), middle (12,5 ng L-1) and level high (25,0 ng L-1). The recoveries were between 86,0 to 104,2%. Accuracy was calculated by the relative standard deviation (RSD) was obtained having a value of 7,9%. The expanded uncertainty of the method was 12%. The Venturo Análises Ambientais laboratory has been audited by INMETRO, and the methods were evaluated and inserted in the official scope of the laboratory. The achieved quantification limits are the lowest obtained by a Brazilian laboratory accredited to the Standard ISO / IEC 17025/2005, and in the case of methylmercury, the lab was the first to have the methodology accredited by INMETRO .

This thesis addresses the democratic will-formation as an educational principle from Habermas’s philosophy. The theoretical and exploratory path followed by Habermas shows the theoretical feasibility of the proposition that underpins the thesis. Therefore, we present the law category as intermediation between the system and the world of life. The building of opinion and will-formation is rooted in the democratic procedure of discursive law that underlies the communicative freedom process. This is explained by the mediating processes of social communications, in which free citizens, committed to the political and public will-formation, are involved. Habermas proposes the formation of a modern society from the idea of a theory of the social communication of law, as an analysis of democratic and educational practices. In Habermas’s “Communicative acting theory”, published in 1981, the category "system" is characterized by an action of the strategic-instrumental type and the category "world of life", by the symbolic, intuitive and reconstructive production, in which the law plays a crucial role in social integration. In his work “Law and democracy: between facticity and validity”, written in 1992, discursive law constitutes a possibility of intermediation between the system and the world of life, as it works as an integrating element of the democratic society. The communication of a social freedom between citizens willing to act without coercion is an alternative to a free and emancipatory formation in education. Deliberative politics is legitimate in the discursive law, which is grounded on a broad process of democratic will-formation, which is dealt here as an educational principle mandatory for democratic societies establishing.

The research aims to study and analyse the contributions and challenges present in the articles on the subject of Youth and Education in Brazil from 2010 to 2014. Furthermore, it looks forward to identify new ideas or paths for pedagogical practices or emancipatory policies for young people. We have as theoretical references the contributions of Albert et al (2008), Freire (1992, 2000, 2005.2010), Abramo (1997), Margulis and Urresti (1996.1998), Carrano (2005), Sposito (2009, 2003), Dayrell and Carrano (2014), Dayrell (2007), Castells (1999) Groppo (2011, 2015), Parents (1990), Gimeno Sacristán (2013). For this purpose, we made use of a literature search in Scielo from the following descriptors: students and high school; students and youth and adult education; youth and youth curriculum; youth, education and young school. We found and studied 38 articles. And from the content analysis method (Bardin, 2004), it has been possible to list 7 categories, as following: curriculum, teaching, subject practices, teacher training and research, social and educational policies, youth; work and education and educational social participation. As result, we have found elements that contribute to education of young students, which are: 1) the school must take ownership and understand the different media and new technologies in order to use them in favor of learning; 2) understanding the context of the classroom content and the use of multimedia as a way to make it the most significant and attractive in the education of young people; 3) to start from the knowledge of the students and to make use of dialogue; 4) to enhance intergenerational relationships in order to young people and adults feel part of the educational process; 5) to make the teacher training closer to the current context and the new youth demands; 6) school integration with its surroundings and its educational agents; 7) understaing the need of young people to gain more knowledge and job training to continue into higher education; 8) development of policies that consider young people as political subjects and those who have their careers marked by social inequalities; 9) to provide adequate infrastructure to enhance learning, with construction of laboratories and libraries; or to support the of such spaces if the school already has them; 10) the development of a political-pedagogical project that prioritizes permanence and success of students, considering the specifics of shifts, such as at night (historically undervalued).

The identification of gifted and talented students is granted by Special Education public policies. However, the identification of gifted and talented students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a topic still little discussed nowadays. As many students with suspected TDA/H have behavioral problems and are underachievers, they may be referred by the schools to psychosocial services and, if diagnosed, they may adhere psychotherapeutic and pharmacological treatments. The similarity between characteristics of gifted and talent students and twice exceptional students (gifted or talented with ADHD), besides the lack of information on that topic, can cause erroneous or incomplete referrals and diagnosis, so that those students may not receive attendance by Special Education public policies. In this context, the teacher is shown as a major articulator to the identification of gifted and talented students, considering the coexistence of ADHD. Thus, this study aimed to: (1) verify if there could be giftedness indicators in students diagnosed with ADHD. On the second level, the study also aimed to: (1.1) collect and analyze the attitudes of teachers about giftedness; and (1.2) enable them to use the instrument in order to identify gifted students. The study was conducted in a city of São Paulo State (with approximately 70.000 inhabitants), and counted with the participation of 5 professionals from the Psychosocial Child Care Center; 3 teachers from the elementary school with at least one student diagnosed with ADHD and appointed by the center; 3 students diagnosed with ADHD; and 63 students without ADHD diagnosis from the same class of the nominated students. The method was qualitative, exploratory-descriptive, with multiple case study design. We used as research instruments: a) 2 professional characterization forms, applied to the psychosocial professionals and the teachers; b) the Likert Scale of Attitudes Toward the Identification and Development of Talent; and c) the Direct Observation in Classroom Guide. We carried out a pilot procedure with a classroom teacher and her class in order to adequate the instruments. The data analysis was descriptive with qualitative approach. Concerning the attitudes of the teachers towards the identification and the development of giftedness and talent, we noticed the permanence of myths in their speech and their need for training on that topic, mainly about the formation of giftedness and talent, the characteristics of those students, their distribution in the population, the identification instruments and appropriate attendance services. The study pointed giftedness indicators in 2 ADHD students: André, with 4 indicators on creativity and creative potential domain; and Bernardo, with 2 indicators on socioaffective domain and 1 indicator on intelligence with verbal ability domain. The third student, Carlos, hasn’t been indicated by the instrument, but he was mentioned due to his prominence in Physical Education, loosely attributed to the ADHD. Although that signalizing doesn’t guarantee the identification of those students as gifted, it is an indication of potentials that deserve attention in future evaluations and contributes to the development of methods and instruments to identify twice exceptional students.

This investigation aims to analyze the discourses of school counselors on how to cope with indiscipline and violence at school, as well as the operation of the School Board (SB) itself. The study was carried out from theoretical perspectives, and also from empirical investigation, in three public schools from São Paulo state, two of which are state schools, and one is a municipal school. It is characterized for being a qualitative study, using two methodological instruments: documental analysis (minutes of the SB meetings) from 2012 to 2014, and individual interviews conducted in 2014 with representatives from different segments of the SB (principal; teachers; parent stalf member guardian, and student). Two categories of analysis were drawn: the outline of conceptions about the SB itself and its operation; and what is understood by indiscipline and violence at schools, and the discussions about these situations presented by the collegiate at the surveyed schools. The hypothesis that both school counselors and educators in general have great difficulty in dealing with issues of indiscipline and violence at school, especially in a democratic way, was proven. There was no pretension in generalizing the analysis to a country with continental scope, and huge differences and diversities - after all, the school counselors were living in two cities in the interior of São Paulo - but, by listening to their speeches, it is possible to conclude that this difficulty was the result of two concepts that must be overcome: certain accommodation from some educators and counselors that led to same traditional school practices elated to indiscipline and violence, which were never questioned simply because there is not anything new to replace what is already done for years in a row; and certain negligence by the school, which is the failure to create opportunities for further discussions and reflections (both individual and collective) about the subject, committing all those involved with it.

    A teoria histórico-cultural e a brincadeira : (re)pensando a educação infantil a partir dos autores contemporâneos
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2016-02-23) Faria, Mariana de Oliveira; Hai, Alessandra Arce; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3845288858275245; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4003449739655511
We seek to apprehension, understand and analyze how the game is understood by the Historicalcultural Theory, in the context of Early Childhood Education, from the analysis of the productions of the following contemporary international authors: Marilyn Fleer, Mariane Hedegaard, Seth Chaiklin, Bert Van Oers, Elena Kravtsova and Gennadi Kravtsov. Because it is a theoretical study on the Historical-cultural Theory as well as the theoretical and methodological contributions made by international authors, were analyzed books and articles of the aforementioned authors, therefore the methodology adopted for this research is theoretical and bibliographical. With our analysis, we conclude that to the authors worked, Early Childhood Education should be structured to promote scientific learning of the child, goal of all education, therefore, play, regarded as the dominant activity of the preschool period, must be considered in the space of Early Childhood Education and can contribute to the development of the child. In the development of this work, we focus on the contributions of Marilyn Fleer, to be among the chosen authors, the author who has more discussed the issue of play in the space of Early Childhood Education. Therefore, we hope to contribute to think one Early Childhood Education quality for all walks of life, seeking the comprehensive development of children under five years in their maximum potential, based on the assumptions of Historicalcultu al Theory.

Synthesis, structural diversification, biological activities and biotransformation of dibenzylacetones : simple chemistry furnishing potent compounds
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2016-02-23) Din, Zia Ud; Rodrigues Filho, Edson; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3667941735597178; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9444029565564577
The structural diversity of known compounds holding two benzene rings directly connected to each other (Bis-phenyl), or separated by a carbon-chain (Bisarylalkane), is nowadays generated intensive scientific studies across the world. Some of them are very renowned for their important biodynamic activities for human beings. For instance, the natural occurring classes of substances Stilbene (Bis-arylethene), Chalcone (Bis-arylpropenone) and Curcumin (Bis-arylheptene) have been subject of deep studies in literature due to their pharmacological activities such as antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, antioxidant and anticancer. Almost all of these compounds have in common the amino acid phenylalanine as biosynthetic precursor. In this work, we seek to give a concise overview of their structures diversity, occurrence, chemistry and the bioactivities of dibenzylacetones established. The effort to synthesize these compounds and their congeners and its modification with good pharmaceutical profile were carried. We have studied the anti-parasitic activity of all these synthesized compounds and found some potent compounds. The mechanistic study show that enzyme inside parasite reduces the C=C bonds in synthesized dibenzylacetones and leading to more potency which alter redox system of parasite, which result increase of nitrogen and oxygen species and interfere mitochondria function, which ultimately causes death of parasite. Although the literature contains only limited computational studies on these compounds, it can be predicted good and differential π-π interactions of aromatic rings of these compounds with aromatic amino acids in enzymes. We have made an effort to explain our results in the result of docking and DFT analysis.
