listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Parametric and semi-parametric cure rate models with spatial frailties for interval-censored data(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2016-05-31) Bao, Yiqi; Cancho, Vicente Garibay; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3503233632044163; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9021028070787191In this thesis, we extend some flexible cure rate models, such as the geometric, negative binomial and power series cure rate models, to allow for spatial correlations by including spatial frailties for the interval censored data setting. Parametric and semi-parametric cure rate models with independent and dependent spatial frailties are proposed and compared. The proposed models encompass several well-known cure rate models as its particular cases. Since these cure rate models are obtained by considering that the occurrence of an event of interest is caused by the presence of any non-observed risks, we also study the complementary cure model, which arises when the cure rate models are obtained by assuming the occurrence of an event of interest is caused when all of non-observed risks are activated. A new measure of model selection, based on the notion of predictive loss paradigm, for the interval-censoring data is also proposed. The MCMC method is used in a Bayesian inference approach and some Bayesian model selection criteria are used for model comparison. Moreover, we conduct an influence diagnostics to detect possible influential or extreme observations that can cause distortions on the results of analysis. Finally, the proposed models are applied to analyze a real dataset from a stop smoking study.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Entre fios e teias de formação : narrativas de professoras que trabalham com matemática nos anos iniciais – constituição da docência e os desafios da profissão na educação pública estadual paulista frente aos programas de governo no período de 2012 a 2015(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2016-05-31) Montezuma, Luci Fátima; Passos, Cármen Lúcia Brancaglion; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2297203444364327; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6424535625288505This text comes from a doctoral research, with a qualitative approach, which included the participation of nine polyvalent and experienced teachers who teach math to the early years, work in São Paulo State Public Education and, over the years of 2012 to 2015, produced autobiographical narratives, written and/or oral, from narrative interviews, considering the experienced formative processes throughout their life stories, with focused eyes mainly for mathematics, facing the implementation of government programs with focus in this discipline in the early years: Mathematics Education for the early years-EMAI and National Pact for Literacy in the Correct Age-PNAIC-Mathematics. Considering that the way of "being" a teacher is related to the established culture and to what they experienced, the aim of this study was to understand how is the teaching constitution process of experienced teachers who teach Mathematics to the early years, facing the government programs that impacted the teaching of Mathematics in the early years in the São Paulo State Public Education in the period between the years of 2012-2015, entitled of EMAI and PNAIC Mathematics, trying to understand the teaching professionally constitution process of collaborators teachers over time and to raise evidences of professional development. In this context, this work tried to answer the investigative question how gives the process of teaching formation of experienced teachers, facing both programs, and find out what impacts were generated in the teaching practice of them, since such programs, substantially interfere in the daily life schools. The theoretical basis that supported the analysis are the narrative and autobiographical researches, mainly in Bolivar, Domingo and Fernandez; Connnelly and Clandinin; Josso; Passeggi, Souza and Vicentini; and the formation training of teachers in: Mizukami et al.; Tardif and Shulman. The analysis of the narratives reveals professional development evidences of teachers from established programs, but indicates that, in the practice of the classroom, with the students, in certain situations, in front of their views already entrenched historically, teachers came into conflict with the theoretical and methodological guidelines proposed, and they take practices that could be considered creative insubordination, when the teacher dares to create and dares in teaching with the desire to promote learning in which students attribute meanings to the knowledge. The analysis reveals that, as pointed out in the field training of teachers researches, the act of teaching is to make choices in full interaction with students, starting with the knowledge of teachers, their conceptions, the ethic and the professional commitment that they have with the exercise of being a teacher. It was also observed that teachers felt discomfort in front of professional precariousness, leaving them with fear about how will be the future of this category and sometimes even a teacher unease.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, A influência da morfologia do MgO nas propriedades catalíticas do SiO2/MgO para a formação de 1,3-Butadieno a partir de etanol(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2016-05-31) Souza, André Machado Ribeiro de; Bueno, José Maria Corrêa; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0157452280626031; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8321288977088061Ethanol has been largely studied in the past few decades as a substitute to fossil fuels in the synthesis of a large variety of chemicals. 1,3-Butadiene, one of these compounds, is an important chemical intermediate and also a monomer for some polymers such as synthetic rubbers. It is mainly produced as a by-product from naphtha steam cracking, which has ethylene as the major product. As crude oil prices have been fluctuating in the latest years and with the discovery of shale gas in the US, a promising source for ethylene, there is an urgency for developing alternative routes to produce 1,3-Butadiene. Several studies have been carried since the 1940s trying to create viable processes and using many different catalysts, indicating MgO/SiO2 - with or without the addition of transition metals - as being the most promising one. However, there is still a lot of missing information on how does the interaction between silica and magnesia affect the yields and selectivity. In the present work it was studied how the morphology of the MgO affects the interaction with the SiO2 to generate active sites. The MgO with different morfologies were synthesized and then wet-kneaded with SiO2 to provide catalysts with different MgO/SiO2 ratio. The samples were calcined and catalytic tests were carried out. X-Ray Diffraction, Temperature Programmed Desorption of CO2 and Scanning Electron Microscopy were also performed on the catalysts. The obtained micrographs for the oxides confirmed the successful preparation of different morphologies, and the results for catalytic tests showed that there is some influence from the morphology over conversion and selectivity of SiO2/MgO. For the MgO morphologies at the temperature of 425 oC, ethanol conversions between 11.7% and 21.9% were obtained for different samples, with selectivities for butadiene between 5.6% and 30.4%. For SiO2/MgO catalysts, in the same temperature, different yields were obtained for distinct morphologies and Mg:Si ratios. For 3:1 catalysts, yields between 21.5% and 34.3% were observed, while for 7:1 catalysts the yields vary from 18.5% to 35.4%. Catalytic properties could not be clearly correlated to the TPD-CO2 and specific surface area, indicating that they are dependant on a complex set of factors, among them the accessibility of the surface for the SiO 2 contact. Variation of the silica content for all morphologies showed that the SiO2/MgO ratio is extremely important for the preparation of active and selective catalysts for the production of 1,3-butadiene.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Nas tramas da revitalização : conflitos e movimentos na zona portuária do Rio de Janeiro(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2016-05-31) Costa, Flávia Carolina Da; Toledo, Luiz Henrique de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5366260223109463; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3624633716376418This thesis focuses on the observation and analysis of the connections among memory, conflict and politics in social network associations, neighborhoods and local sociabilities in the context of the urban “revitalization" in the port area of Rio de Janeiro. Presuming that a story is an individual expression limited by a "general discourse" that classifies feelings, understandings and significations of experience from a dominant culturally provided structure, this thesis is guided by the understandings of a symbolic universe based on memories that combine past and present with official and non-official perceptions of the city, told in multiple ways by the interlocutors of this research. Throughout the study the term "revitalization" is analyzed according to circumstances in which dweller and association categories were observed in the course of fieldwork as a constant "movement" of different artistic, political and cultural investments in the context of social transformations. The nonfixity of the resident category is due to the notion of "testimonial memories" and ethnographically understood as the operator of a system that activates relations and "ways of inhabiting" in the port area, primarily from a political point of view.
