Schistosomiasis is a chronic parasitic disease and neglected, caused by the flatworm Schistosoma sp and affects 240 million people around the world. In Brazil is considered expanding and reaches 19 states. Schistosoma mansoni can evade the host immune response in a way not fully understood. Thus, the search for new drugs for the treatment of schistosomiasis tends to become a new alternative for the control of infections caused by this parasite. The purine bases biosynthetic pathway is a key to drug development, because it is directly related to the maintenance of DNA and RNA synthesis. The recombinant enzyme Hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (HGPRT) has an important function in the way of salvation of purine bases. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the potential of recombinant enzyme HGPRT treatment (Immunotherapy) in experimental schistosomiasis. The methodology used was Immunotherapy using the enzyme of S. mansoni recombinant HGPRT to treat female mice of the strain Swiss infected with S. mansoni with 3 doses after 28 days of infection. Later it was made the evaluation of egg in feces by the method Kato - Katz, cell count of peritoneal cavity lavage and blood, perfusion for the recovery of adult worms’ door-hepatic system and intestinal mesentery. The results were analyzed using statistical program GraphPad Prism 5.01. Infected animals and treated with the enzyme showed a marked decrease in the number of eggs, which is critical to reducing the morbidity related to parasitosis. There was also a reduction of the parasitic load and the number of eosinophils. The results demonstrate that treatment with recombinant S. mansoni HGPRT enzyme has potential for treatment of schistosomiasis. Thus, these results need to be better investigated to understand which mechanisms are involved in the control of schistosomiasis.

This research originated from issues related to scientific literacy, aimed to analyze the potential and limitations of the study on medicinal plants from the CTS approach (Science- Technology-Society). Science education according to this perspective establishes relationships between scientific knowledge, technological development and social reality in order to encourage responsible decision making. Therefore, the research involved the participation of twenty students in a class of 3rd grade of elementary school of a municipal school in the interior of São Paulo and was developed through activities with CTS character, interdisciplinary and contextual. We used as instruments to collect data daily researcher, the written record and represented by designs of the students, the audio recording of his speeches and photographs. For the data analysis, established as criteria the Structuring Axes of Scientific Literacy proposed by Sasseron and Carvalho (2011) and we adapted. As a result, we identified indicative aspects of the process of initiation to scientific literacy. Among them we highlight the construction of relevant knowledge to the context of life of students and applicable to everyday situations, awareness of responsible actions through analysis and reflections on the new information and evidence of understanding of the relationship between science, technology, society and its implications. The study also highlighted the importance of attentive and active role of the teacher during the development of the activities and pointed out limitations regarding the conduct of discursive activity in science classes and difficulty in articulating the opinions of students and science concepts. Finally, we believe that this research could contribute to the practice of teachers working in the early years of elementary school to consider training as a continuum.

One of the main factors for increasing the productivity of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is the correct use of fertilizers. However, this important factor of agricultural production has still been neglected by rural producers, mainly regarding the supply of micronutrients. Manganese (Mn) is an essential micronutrient to the synthesis of chlorophyll and its deficiency has a direct influence on the content of soluble non-structural carbohydrates. The aim of this study was to evaluate the supply of Mn for a common bean cultivar from different sources and rates of Mn fertilizers. Plants of common bean, TAA Bola Cheia cultivar, were grown in pots in a greenhouse, following a 3x3+1 factorial design, with 3 sources of Mn [MnSO4 (soil fertilization), Mn chelated by EDTA, and MnCl2 (leaf fertilization)], applied in three dosages [recommended dosage (RD), 0.5 x RD and 2 x RD], in addition to a control treatment. Plants were harvested at 60 days after emergency and evaluated for biometric (stem length, stem diameter, leaf area, total chlorophyll index, number of pods, dry shoot biomass) and nutritional parameters (chemical analysis of plant tissue). The absorption and accumulation of Mn in the leaves depended on the source, as follows: MnCl2 > MnSO4 = Mn EDTA. The supply with Mn EDTA resulted in significantly higher biometric parameters (number of pods, total chlorophyll, leaf area and dry shoot biomass). The source that resulted in the highest leaf content of Mn was MnCl2, whose application of 2.0 x DR caused symptoms of toxicity in plants (> 700 mg kg-1). There was no correlation between Mn rates and chlorophyll levels in the leaves of plants treated with different Mn supplies, but the total chlorophyll indices were significantly higher in plants that received Mn by leaf fertilization, especially at the 2.0 x RD dose, regardless the source. Thus, the ChlorofiLOG was not adequate to assess the nutritional status of plants in relation to the Mn levels.

Particular biological features of different bee groups can affect how a certain area will be occupied by them and this can affect directly the genetics of their populations over the long term. In Brazil, there are few studies about gene variation and genetic structure of bee natural populations, as well as on the genetic differentiation levels between eusocial bee populations. The Partamona genus comprises 33 species, distributed from Southern Mexico to Southern Brazil. Partamona ailyae, the model species of this study, occurs in rainforests of Southwestern Amazonia, Central Brazil and xeric regions of Piauí. Its wide distribution, as well as the ability to occupy such heterogeneous environments, piqued our interest to take P. ailyae as a study model. This work aimed to analyze the occupation process at the P. ailyae occurrence sites, population genetics and interpopulational gene flow, and the natural history of this species. Eight expeditions were carried out, and 41 localities of 10 states of Brazil were visited. Among them, active colonies of P. ailyae were found only in 17 localities, being collected specimens of 75 nests. To identify the mitochondrial lineages present in the sampled colonies, five gene regions were used (COI, CytB, 12S, 16S and COI-COII). Estimates of polymorphism levels showed COI and CytB as the most variable regions (11 and seven haplotypes, respectively). For the ribosomal genes, only a few samples were analyzed, because few differences were identified among the sequences. All the 31 samples analyzed for the 12S showed a five bases insertion starting from the position 25 of the sequence, a result not observed in other Partamona species. The most informative genes (COI and CytB) had their sequences concatenated (1114pb). For these regions, 13 haplotypes were observed, two of them were shared and 11 characterized as exclusive of localities. The AMOVA showed that 94.3% of the gene variation is due to interpopulacional differences, revealing a high differentiation among the populations (ΦST = 0.9426; P = 0.000). In addition, one individual from each colony was analyzed for eight heterologous microsatellite loci designed from Melipona bicolor and Partamona helleri. A moderate and statistically significant XIV interpopulational genetic differentiation (ΦST = 0.1491; P = 0.000) was found. The cluster analysis identified four groups by ΔK as the ideal model, and STRUCTURE software showed that all individuals could belong to more than one group, corroborating the “Assignment test”, which indicated that only 50% of the samples were correctly assigned to their original population. Phenotypic segregation analysis was realized in some offsprings, revealing a monoginic/monandric familial structure. From the mitochondrial data, the Mantel test showed a significant correlation between genetic distance and geographic distance (r = 0.2589; P = 0.0231), whereas on basis of the nuclear data, the Mantel test did not indicate significant correlation between genetic distance and geographic distance (r = 0.2090; P = 0.0610). Fu’s Fs and R2 tests did not show significant values. The Bayesian Skyline Plot analysis (BSP) did not show significant fluctuations in the effective size populations of P. ailyae, indicating population stability over time. The values of ΦST estimated for mitochondrial genes and microsatellites were compared, being detected evidence of sex-asymmetric dispersal, in which females are responsible for the areas occupation, and males constitute the disperser sex. In addition, some relevant aspects of the natural history of P. ailyae are shown.

This study objective to identify the diversity of predators through the use of serology producing specific antiserums for the main pests found in maize, Spodoptera frugiperda, Helicoverpa armigera and H. zea, Rhopalosiphum maidis and uses it to determine their predators. Pest samples were macerated in 0.85% saline solution. The macerated were centrifuged and the supernatants used as immunizing antigens for obtaining antiserum. For this purpose, a rabbit was immunized with 3.0 ml of the immunizing antigen on the lymph node region. Homologous serological tests were performed in double diffusion in agar. Homologous serological reactions were positive after seven days of antigen inoculation. The technique has sensitivity to detect predation of the four pests studied in this paper. The tests were positive for a prey in the digestive tract of the predator to 96 hours of ingestion. Regarding the number of preys, there was no difference in the lines, they only grew stronger and sharper. In laboratory, D. luteipes, O. vnigrum and C. externa presented preference for R. maidis and E. annulipes for S. frugiperda. In tests where predators were collected in the field, serological tests showed that there was a certain food preference of D. luteipes and O. v-nigrum by S. frugiperda. E. annulipes, H. axyridis, E. connexa and C. externa, by the aphid. After a single injection of antigen in rabbit’s lymph node region, it was possible to get an antiserum specific for pests of corn.

The search for alternative and sustainable solutions for the management of urban stormwater corroborated for the increase of Best Managements Practices (BMPs) use. However, despite this quantitative increase, BMPs have been inserted in the urban context without proper integration with the landscape, whether by legal requirements or by commercial exploration of sustainable urban development. This insertion can create abandoned areas with little or no maintenance, compromising the BMPs functionality and the relationship with the community. The aim of this study was to develop and apply guidelines for the preparation and execution of the landscape design on BMPs targeting their integration into the urban landscape. The guidelines were based on the Low Impact Development, the traditional method of preparation of landscaping design and international recommendations related to BMPs. They were synthesized in seven sequential project steps and applied to two existing infiltration plans in experimental campus watershed of the Universidade Federal de São Carlos - SP. As a result, the guidelines provided a freer design for BMPs, created an identity and multifunctionality, integrating open and green spaces to the hydrologic function.

The growing amount of data produced daily, by both businesses and individuals in the web, increased the demand for analysis and extraction of knowledge of this data. While the last two decades the solution was to store and perform data mining algorithms, currently it has become unviable even to supercomputers. In addition, the requirements of the Big Data age go far beyond the large amount of data to analyze. Response time requirements and complexity of the data acquire more weight in many areas in the real world. New models have been researched and developed, often proposing distributed computing or different ways to handle the data stream mining. Current researches shows that an alternative in the data stream mining is to join a real-time event handling mechanism with a classic mining association rules or sequential patterns algorithms. In this work is shown a data stream mining approach to meet the Big Data response time requirement, linking the event handling mechanism in real time Esper and Incremental Miner of Stretchy Time Sequences (IncMSTS) algorithm. The results show that is possible to take a static data mining algorithm for data stream environment and keep tendency in the patterns, although not possible to continuously read all data coming into the data stream.

The following Masters dissertation is a study of memories and cultural identities from the novel Nove Noites (2002) (NN), written by Bernardo Carvalho. The journalistnarrator of the novel tells a history about something he did not experienced: the suicide of the American anthropologist Buell Halvor Quain. Hence, the journalist searches for memories such as letters, photographs and reports of people lived with Quain in order to solve the referred suicide. In another narrative instance, we read a will let by a character that met Buell Quain in Brazil: Manoel Perna. My research hypothesis was about the entanglement between the narrators from diferents sociohistorical times should make clear diferents cultural identities and, consenquently, identifications to one cultural identity and not with another. Concerning to my research, I have demarcated as goals: i. Demostrating the memories and identity functioning in NN; ii. Contrasting and analysing the narratives instances; iii. Verifying cultural questions for the NN’s narrative structure. To explain these memories, I have based this study mainly in the Discurso da narrativa, from Gérard Genette (1995). The memories of the novel brings inside them other voices responsible for fragmenting the chronological narrative order and allow me to read the book by relating it to identity questions. Therefore, I have referred the narrator’s voices to their sociocultural point of view. Due to that, cultural studies were the basis of this Masters dissertation: A identidade cultural na pós-modernidade, Da diáspora (2003) and Who needs identity (2003), all written by Stuart Hall. These references were the main theoretical basis used in order to understand identities through narrative structures. This theoretical and analytical process support me to demostrate the identification as a nonexplicit game inside the memory narration from NN.

This research analyzed, in the local power of São Carlos (SP), the connections between medical professionalism, urban and industrial development and the political centralization of the Brazilian nation state, which conditioned specific waves of interiorization of medical professionalism, as well as particular professional rip current. The focus is oriented to the period of 1889 to 1988, when have occurred three waves of interiorization of medical professionalism and two professional rip currents. The first wave (1889-1930) happened at the beginning of the Republic, in the context of a decentralized political system (coronelismo) and of a parallel growth of the São Carlos’ coffee production. This allowed the first impulse of the local urban economy, the emergence of some new public health and medical assistance services and the establishment of an initial but effective medical market. Some new physicians arrived in the locality, whose specialization was commonly in general practice. Very soon, these professionals were integrated into the local social stratification, working as liberal professionals and in the Santa Casa de Misericórdia de São Carlos. The second wave (1948-1966) was characterized by the local effects of the political centralization of the state and its new role in the Brazilian urban and industrial development as well as in the organization of a national health system. The preview alliance between physicians and the São Carlos’ coffee elite became less important than in the past. The central state became more powerful and begun to compete with the local elites in the countryside of Brazil. This is the moment of the medical reaction to the socialization of medicine, when local physicians create the Sociedade Médica de São Carlos. In this period, there was an important historical trend of young local citizens (born in São Carlos), who went out to study medicine, but returning back later to work as physicians. As their antecessors, these young professional worked in the general practice. Otherwise, the third wave (1970-1988) arose since the reaction of physicians against some problems with the medical assistance of the state pension system. Indeed, the period also verified the organization of a new hospital, Casa de Saúde e Maternidade São Carlos, as well as the construction of a new building for Santa Casa de Misericórdia. São Carlos observed a relevant urban and industrial growth, paralleled by the increase of groups of industrial workers and urban middle classes. Aside the interiorization of medical faculties, professionals who have studied in these new faculties arrived São Carlos, not to act in general practice, but as specialists. Since a tied and smaller medical market as well as the condition of exporter of patients, São Carlos became polo of attraction for professionals and patients from other localities. This favored the creation and expansion of the UNIMED São Carlos, which responded to the higher demand for local medical services, the crisis in the medical assistance of the pension system and new obstacles from the market of private medical group sector. Both UFSCar and USP São Carlos intertwined with the growth of the locality, as well as with physicians, in order to increase the hospital services of São Carlos. As professional rip currents, between the first and the second waves, and between this one and the third wave, some reverse social processes acted historically in an opposite way in relation to each mentioned wave, favoring the occurrence of the next one. At the end of this period, emerged a combination of historical factors, such as: increase of the medical group sector (specially the UNIMED); the worst of the state medical assistance; political movements of physicians; emergence of the collective health; different role of industries in the Brazilian development; democratization; and decentralization of the national health system, which led to the creation of SUS.

Water sludge is a solid waste produced during the water treatment. The volume of sludge produced in a water treatment plant can reach tons of material per month, depending of the quantity of water treated in the plant. Water sludge characteristics can vary depending of the water source and chemical products used in the water treatment. This material is rich in iron oxides, alum oxides, minerals and humic substances. Nowadays all this waste doesn’t have an application, being usually discharged in landfills, after a drying process, or into rivers. On the other hand, fluoride: an ion commonly founded in water samples from drilled wells. According to the current potability standard, administrative order number 2914/11 from Brazilian Govern Health Department, fluoride is necessary for water quality, being indispensable to avoid caries, primarily in children. However, in high concentrations – above 1,5 mg F?.L-1 –, fluoride causes health problems to the consumers, as dental fluorosis and skeletal fluorosis. Moreover, in a high concentration level, fluoride interferes or even hinders the application of this water to public supply, because most of the disposable technologies for fluoride removal have a high financial cost. That said, this work was planned to look for and combine a solution for both problems: utilization for water sludge and an alternative to fluoride removal with low cost. For this purpose, fluoride removal tests were done using fluoride standard samples in a jar-test equipment. These experiments were lead in different pH, to verify the pH influence in the fluoride removal process on the water sludge surface. After the experiments with the fluoride standard samples, a groundwater sample from the city of Capela do Alto, São Paulo state, was used to verify the efficiency of the material in a raw water sample with high fluoride, 2,8 ± 0,02 mg F?.L-1. The maximum adsorption result reached in fluoride standard sample was 0,36 ± 0,02 mg F?/g sludge, in pH 4. The minimum adsorption capacity was reached in pH 6, 0,30 ± 0,02 mg F?/g sludge. In the experiment with groundwater (pH 8,3), the maximum adsorption was 0,34 ± 0,02 mg F?/g sludge, showing the low pH influence in the fluoride adsorption onto water sludge.

Maize can be intercropped with green manures, which in addition to performing the coverage and soil protection, the weeds control, also cycle nutrients and perform nitrogen biological fixation. This study aimed at evaluating the growth, yield of grains and straw, the content of macronutrients of maize and the weeds control in intercropping with perennial green manures sown at two different maize growth stages. The experiment was conducted in the agricultural year of 2014/2015, at UFSCar/Araras-SP, in randomized complete blocks in factorial scheme 3 x 2 + 1 with 4 repetitions. The factors were: 3 species of green manures (calopogonio (Calopogonium mucunoides Desv.); kudzu (Pueraria phaseoloides (Roxb) Benth.) and perennial soybean (Neonotonia wightii (Wight & Arn) Lackey.) and two green manures sowing times (sowing at the V4 - four expanded leaves and VT – bolting of maize). And a control treatment, maize monoculture. The evaluations were: in the R1/R2 of maize stage - milky/doughy grain (height (ALT); diameter (DIA); specific leaf area (AFE); leaf area index (IAF); stalk dry matter (MSC), leaves (MSF) and total (MST) of maize; Falker chlorophyll index (ICF); number of leaves above the upper ear (FAS)); in the R5 of maize stage – chalky grain (dry mass of green manure (MSA); total dry mass maize intercropping/green manure (MSTC); percentage of land cover (PC) and dry mass of weeds (MSE)); in the R6 – maize harvest (final plant stand (EST); prolificacy (PROL); number of rows per ear (NFE); number of kernels per row (NGF); yield of grain (PROD); weight of 100 grains (P100) and content of macronutrients of maize). It was found higher production of EF with the sowing of green manures in the V4 stage (69,814 plants ha-1), being the intercropping maize/calopogonio with higher values of MSA and PC, with 1002.00 kg ha-1 and 35.63%, respectively. The highest P100 occurred in the VT (32.89 g). There was not difference for the other variables. The PROD was 9.04 t ha-1 and 7.0 t ha-1 of MSTC. The smallest leaf N content was observed in the intercropping with calopogonio in V4 (22.75 g kg-1). The Ca had smallest levels for the perennial soybean in the VT and kudzu in the V4. The smallest Mg content was in intercropping with the soybean perennial in the VT, in the P was in the intercropping with calopogonio and S, when the sowing of the green manures occurred in V4 of maize. For K, there was not statistical difference. The MSTC production was not affected by green manures, with maize straw production in monoculture and in the intercropping systems exceeding the minimum amount recommended for ground cover (6.0 t ha-1). The green manures negatively affect the content of P, K, Ca, Mg and S in maize and calopogonio sown in the VT, the kudzu and the soybean perennial sowing in the V4 and VT, contributed to provide N to maize.

The purpose of this work aims to reflect on the social trajectory of the families affected by construction of hydroelectric power plant Jaguara, located and build between Rifaina/SP and Sacramento/MG, small cities on countryside of Brazil, at the 60's. That decade was marked by a strong authoritarian politics that wanted progress and society’s modernization by full capitalism insertion on “country/rural areas”. As a result, the changes were on several and different levels, not just in socioeconomic or environmental areas, when the use and the occupation of land change completely, the families were exposed by compulsory displacement that breaks and turns relationships, culture, customs, values and social routine, changes in various orders. However, the transformations by hydroelectric power plant construction aren’t only losses but also gains and opportunities, which will be understood when observing the experiences of the affected people and the relation between agent with the land, as a work’s place, live’s place and identity’s place. Basically, the work of remembering the past, exposed the motivations and justifications of the people that comprising the hydroelectric construction and compulsory displacement as positive or negative. For the purpose to see experience and life’s trajectories, the methodological instrument used was oral history through qualitative interviews, using bibliography research and documental analyses.

This master's research aimed to understand and analyze the ways of policing the institution face to female labor transformation processes in the Police of São Paulo State Military (PMESP). The secondary objectives were to understand the discourses of the military police operations in PMESP, understanding the perception of these on their own performance and analyze the conflicts that gender differences causes in the various spheres that compose the institution. To accomplish these objectives we conducted qualitative interviews semi structured with military police officers (men and women) from the state institution of several patents and functions. Thus considerable part of the research was structured based on the analysis of experiences and professional female police trajectories of different generations. Also they were gathered press texts that bring the image and role of women in PMESP, seeking to understand the representations involving the image of women in the institution, using document analysis. The research had as main findings the process of transformation of own police work, from the analysis of female labor over the years. The ostensible policing, aimed at combating crime (especially crimes against property), no longer exclusively male work and becomes the focus of police activities as a whole. We could also point out as a result of the differences and disputes about the "real police work" in which the work "street" is more recognition that the "administrative work ". Finally, about the discourse on women, we highlight the changes to look the work of female police officers from the perspective of care for the design of the warrior police and finally the discursive tendency to erase the differences and classify all while police.

Aramid fibers are very known by their excellent combination of tensile strength and elastic modulus with low density. On the other hand, aramids do not melt which difficult the recycling process. This property is an important issue for many companies that work with these materials since thousands of tons of aramid fibers are produced each year and there are just a few reutilization alternatives. This project evaluated a new alternative to reuse aramid fibers from industrial waste as mechanical reinforcement for polyamide 6,6. Another important characteristic of these fibers is the low interaction with polymeric matrices due to its intrinsic molecular stability and to finishing products that facilitates the spinning and weaving processes. In order to remove the finishing, the fibers were washed with methanol and hexane, but the hexane washed fibers showed better results. Surface treatments with NaOH solutions were also evaluated. It was reported in XPS results that NaOH solution hydrolyzed the fiber’s surface. However, conditions with higher NaOH concentration were too aggressive to the fiber’s mechanical properties. For this reason, it was selected two procedures: 2% NaOH at 30 minutes of exposure and 6% NaOH at 45 minutes of exposure. The composites were produced with two different fiber’s weight concentration, 5 and 10%. The results have shown that the surface treatment impacted the interfacial adhesion, but there was no increase on the composite’s mechanical properties due to the fiber’s mechanical damage caused by the treatment. The addition of 5% of fibers did not increase the mechanical properties probably due to the fact that 5% is near to the fiber’s critical volume for this composite. The composites with 10% of fibers showed better results and revealed a great potential for this reuse alternative for para-aramid fibers.

This work presents the development of a numerical model of a composite connection connecting a composite beam to a concrete filled steel tube column using a through plate. The software Ansys® and finite elements methods were used in the numerical analyses and the model was validated by comparison with experimental results. The main guidelines adopted in the choice of finite elements, material properties and constitutive relationships, boundary conditions and restrains and other aspects of numerical modeling are presented and discussed in this work. The validated numerical model was then used in parametric analysis in which was analyzed the influence of geometric and physical parameters as reinforcement ratio of slab, height of I-steel beam, web thickness of I-steel beam, diameter of the bolts, slab thickness, height of the through plate, concrete compressive strength and steel yield strength. The parameters analyzed revealed direct influence on behavior, especially in terms of moment an initial stiffness. Comparative analysis between all parameters allowed comments on the most influential variables and those that present similar behaviors.

The strength of the orientation of the primary health care (PHC) depends on the presence and extent of each of its attributes. The APS has four essential attributes – “first contact access”, "longitudinality", “coordination” and “integrality” - and three derived attributes - family orientation, community orientation and cultural competence. The tool used to assess the PHC, called PCAtool - professional version, is capable of measuring the strength of the PHC orientation in the healthcare setting. This paper aims to evaluate the presence and extension of the PHC attributes in the São Carlos-SP’s primary healthcare network. For doing so, we had the participation of several “high educational level” professionals, such as doctors, dentists and nurses, from 12 Basic Health Unities (BHU) and 19 Family Health Unities (FHU) localized in 5 health districts (ARES). The PCAtool - professional version was applied to healthcare professionals in each healthcare unity, making a total of 64 answered forms. Each attribute was evaluated through the arithmetic mean score of its items and then was translated to a 0 to 10 scale. Values above 6.6 are considered high. The results showed that the attributes with better performance were the Family Orientation (8.51), the coordination - Information System (8.07), the integrality - Services provided (7.65), the integrality - Available services (7, 26) longitudinality (7.20), the coordination - integration of care (7,11).The worst performances were for community orientation ( 5.92) and first contact Login ( 4.63) . The attributes "first contact access" and community orientation are the weakest attributes both UBS as the USF. The USF performed significantly better (p value < 0.05) in the attributes access, coordinationinformation system, integrality, community orientation and scale for essential and general attributes. There is need for further studies to better understand the issues involved in the difference between models.

Recognized by the World Tourism Organization (WTO) as a share of this market, religious tourism provides significant revenue and traffic people, nationally and internationally. Its expansion has come about in Brazil as recognition of their earning potential. It’s results of transition from a phase in which the pilgrimages and festivals did not happen spontaneously and management for the current state of business structuring and training of its staff and services provided. Several factors are intertwined in the development of this market in Brazil, and the government agencies responsible for most of the investments in the sector. They promote infrastructure improvements and incentive programs focused on events and religious attraction poles, thereby providing enhancement of the hotel chain, transport connection, agencies and tour operators. The Catholic Church is mobilizing to that particular field, with its Pastur focused on the dissemination of shrines and religious appeal sites, staff training and strategies that promote the sale of travel and tourism practices packages Dioceses and parishes with potential attraction. This work exposes the one hand, economically enterprising character of the church and on the other, the ambiguity of the Pastur, as the pastoral intended for non-profit activities. Here is the facet of Brazilian Catholicism to which this research is back.

In recent years, increased use of titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO 2 NPs) in consumer products and technological devices has raised concerns regarding their environmental impacts and their risks to human health. Ecotoxicological studies have been used as a tool to analyze the toxic potential of TiO 2 NP S in different trophic levels, such as primary producers (algae) and first order consumers (cladocerans). In the present study, the chronic effects of TiO2 NPS on the population growth of the microalgae chlorophycean Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was evaluated during an exposure period of 96 hours, under conditions of temperature and photoperiod similar to those found in tropical ecosystems. New methods were developed for the separation of the aggregates between the algae cells and TiO2 NPS, whose formation was observed at above 0.01 mg L-1 concentrations after a period of 96 hours’ exposure. The only effective method was the one in which the cells were washed three times with a metal chelator (EDTA), with duration of 1 minute for each wash. In the toxicity chronic test, there was obtained a significant inhibition of algal growth from the concentration of 64 mg L-1 of TiO2 NPs, with a concentration of 50% inhibition of algal cells (96 h - IC50) of 201.22 mg L -1 in 96 h of exposure. Then, it was evaluated the acute effects of exposure by contact and the chronic effects of TiO2 NPs for the cladoceran Ceriodaphnia silvestrii, using contaminated food (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) as a route of exposure. In acute toxicity tests was obtained the average value of EC50 - 48 h of 77.57 mg L-1. In chronic toxicity tests, it was observed significant differences in survival from the concentration of 0.01 mg L-1, while for the body length, the number of eggs and neonates produced, toxic effects were observed from the concentration of 1 mg L-1. These results indicate that the nano-TiO2 NPS had a deleterious effect on the growth of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata only at concentrations above those normally found in natural aquatic environments. For the cladoceran Ceriodaphnia silvestrii, the route of dietary exposure indicated a greater toxic effect.

Bees are the most important pollinators of agricultural ecosystems by carrying out pollination of up to 90% of native plants and more than one third of cultivated plants. Studies conducted around the world have been demonstrating a phenomenon called CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder), whose causal agent several factors including diseases that affect this group. Among them, the varroa resulting from the Varroa destructor mite attack, is reported as pathogen major impact factor on the Apis mellifera. In view of this, the objective of this study was to test the efficiency of three methods to control V. destructor: alternative, obtained from the distillation of oregano (Origanum vulgare Linnaeus, 1753), thyme (Thymus vulgaris Linnaeus, 1753) and sugar beet (Beta vulgaris Linnaeus, 1753); biological, run base drones and larvae chemical, carried out with the application of active flumethrin principle. The results were evaluated by statistical analysis in R program to determine the differences between treatments and proposed mergers and select the best method of control. In the analysis, it was observed that the alternative method showed a significant difference by highlighting thyme distillation as more efficient because there is no significant killing of bees and cause the death of all the mites in a shorter time compared to the other distillates. The biological method hornets larvae base is also preferably effective due to mite in these individuals. In chemical control the use of the active ingredient flumethrin caused poisoning in bees, with diarrhea in the first 6 hours after application, and after 48 hours caused a mortality of 100%, which demonstrates be impractical to control the mite.
