Accessibility must transcend the interior of buildings and permeate all its surroundings and the urban environment. Make the city accessible is a challenge, and this becomes even bigger when the focus is the elderly population. It must be changed the way of thinking cities, as the range of the population over 60’s that live alone is increasing, and ensuring them accessibility and mobility is a duty of the government. This study is meant to examine the accessibility and mobility of residents of a housing project for the elderly in the city of Araraquara, SP, using as reference the Brazilian Standard NBR 9050, 2015. This analysis includes the views of residents and the responsible administrative agent on the issue, as well as the use of technical parameters of ISO 9050, for the elaboration of a check list to ascertain whether the place has the necessary accessibility for this vulnerable group. The methodology consists in applying the tools MMSE test-Mini Mental State Examination, conversation circles, as well as relevant parameters of the standard NBR 9050. Initially the results pointed to a very positive perception by the elderly, although some accessibility parameters have not been included in the construction of houses and residential facilities. Furthermore, it was found very low mobility of older people when they need to perform their daily tasks, making possible by the use of transport modes on foot and by public transport by bus. The indigenous scholastic education in Brazil has gone through significant advances after the structuring of indigenous movements of the 1980s, supported by the legal landmark in the Federal Constitution of Brazil of 1988, which recognizes the different Brazilian cultures and languages. One such fundamental right of the indigenous people is the access to a differentiated education. This way, this research analyzes how the indigenous population of Kaingang Apucaraninha (Tamarana, PR) interprets the creation of the “Colégio Estadual Benedito Rokag” (Benedito Rokag State School) inside the village, and compares the time when the natives had to commute to the nearest district headquarters to go to high school, as well as the identification of the differentiated teaching processes, the influence generated by the school in community interaction, and the construction of the social economic identity of the indigenous people. The instruments used in this research for data collection were the bibliographical revision, semi-structures interviews and direct observation. The results of the field research indicate the principal difficulties the natives had in order to go to high school in a rural district close to the Indigenous Reservation, prejudice being one of the main ones, as well as the benefits and challenges associated with the implementation of the School in the village – the main benefit being the reconstruction of social and cultural identity of the indigenous youth. This way, the differentiated teaching methods are a precious alternative to the appreciation of indigenous culture, at the same time that they present new issues that must be discussed in the academic area, specifically with the indigenous people.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Análise do Programa de Aquisição de Alimentos (PAA) no território indígena Caramuru Catarina Paraguaçu no município de Pau Brasil (BA)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2016-08-24) Teixeira, Carine Andrade; Norder, Luiz Antonio Cabello; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0080353709980071; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3154343412978361This study have the objective to analyze the mechanisms of acess of the Indigenous in the Food Acquisition Program (PAA) starting from the trajectory of participation of Pataxós Hãhãhãe Territory Caramuru-Paraguaçu, located in the city of Pau Brazil (BA), identifying the access mechanisms of indigenous to the Program, how the changes after insertion to improvement in socioeconomic conditions and the difficulties encountered in this insertion. The survey was conducted through visits and dialogue with the Indians, using qualitative methodology through semi-structured interviews and observation in the field, and consultation the official government agencies and research papers on the subject. The results showed that the access of the indigenous to the PAA was possible thanks to the participation of external actors that promoted the organization and preparation of projects. Without these initiatives, the Indigenous people would not have the opportunity to access the program. The research enabled us to identify the access of indigenous people to other public policies such as PNGATI, Bolsa Família and Pronaf, in the case of Pronaf the results pointed to negative environmental and social impacts. Regarding the socio-economic question, the program contributes to improving the living conditions, giving new opportunity for the flow of production, revealing a role of indigenous women within the program. However, despite the progress achieved, the changes were not enough to bring about a significant improvement in quality of life, because the difficulties encountered become impossible the Indigenous reach the maximum quota available.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Controle da hidratação do óxido de magnésio: fundamentos físico-químicos e aplicação tecnológica(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2016-08-24) Santos Junior, Tiago dos; Pandolfelli, Victor Carlos; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7369376873984839; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7913769019155890Magnesium oxide has been proposed as an alternative binder to calcium aluminate cement in refractory castables with reduced amount of CaO. The binding effect is generated by the MgO hydration, resulting in brucite [Mg(OH)2]. The formation of this hydroxide is followed by volumetric changes which, depending on its magnitude, can induce cracks in the material. However, if the hydration reactions are controlled, it would be possible to obtain in situ Mg(OH)2, which could fill in the pores and increase the mechanical strength of the refractory. Considering this possibility and based on a kinetic model that describes MgO hydration as a nucleation and growth process, in this work the control of the kinetic of Mg(OH)2 formation in aluminous castables, was studied. Considering the bar resonance as the main characterisation technique for measuring the in situ elastic modulus, the effect of particle size, MgO reactivity, temperature, time of curing and drying on the kinetic of strengthening of castables containing MgO in the matrix, were evaluated. When finer or less reactive MgO were used, the brucite’s nuclei were more dispersedly formed, favouring the growth of Mg(OH)2 crystals. In order to increase the nuclei density and to limit the growth of the formed crystals, more nucleation sites were activated. Propionic, acetic and formic acids were selected for this purpose. Among those, formic acid activated a greater number of nucleation sites, controlling brucite formation and inhibiting the samples’ cracking. Due to the high degree of hydration, explosion of the samples during the first heating of the castables, was detected. Nevertheless, this drawback was eliminated by the addition of hydratable alumina or a microsilica-based additive to the designed compositions. Obesity is associated with several diseases risk factors, the expand of adipose tissue lead a chronic inflammatory state, insulin resistance, endothelial dysfunction and hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. The hallmark of obesity is the low grade inflammation, with increase of production and secretion of several proinflammatory cytokines that lead to insulin resistance and endothelial dysfunction, which is a precursor to cardiovascular disease and cardiovascular outcome. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the evolution of comorbidities together with obesity evolution. In this way, we fed Wistar male rats with a palatable high fat diet during twenty-four weeks and every 6 weeks was evaluate: The inflammatory state by measuring cytokines pro-inflammatory (interleukin -6 tumor necrosis factor –α, reactive C protein) and anti-inflammatory adiponectin; the endothelial function; the Nitric Oxide levels, blood pressure and cardiac contractile. Our results indicated that six weeks of high fat feeding rats increase visceral fat and triggers inflammatory state, insulin resistance and endothelial dysfunction. At 12 weeks of high fat diet an increase in blood pressure and lipid peroxidation in aorta was observed and at 24 weeks an impaired on cardiac contractile was observed. Several works have quantified labor productivity of construction services, and in this context, there is a noticeable lack of works that deal with building systems execution, particularly, the ones related to power and communication systems. This work has the objective of analyzing labor productivity in the execution of those systems and is based in the Factor Model. To accomplish that, three different tasks in five multistory buildings were measured: electrical infrastructure in wall; electrical infrastructure in concrete slab; and electrical wiring. At the same time, some context and content factors that are likely to influence labor productivity were pointed out. Among the analyzed tasks, the one that presented the best productivity was the electrical wiring on site D (Cumulative productivity = 0.019 Wh/m), while the worst value (Cumulative productivity = 0.080 Wh/m) was detected in electrical infrastructure in concrete slab on Site B. Among the influencing factors identified, there are indications that the type of contract firmed with workers influenced labor productivity, with better results where the workers were subcontracted. The labor productivity results obtained are much better than those presented in reference manuals, indicating the necessity of additional works with the analysis of a larger number of cases.
