The study Geometry Metric Space is very important in high school. To observe, analyze and evaluate the student body to what I teach, we see the lack of interest and a lot of difficulties in relation to learning geometry, especially the spatial geometry. In order to stimulate the students and contribute to overcoming these difficulties we propose in this paper a contextualized teaching sequence for teaching such content. Because of the time available to carry out this project to go beyond the particular subject area and volume of right circular cylinders. The didactic sequence mix the use of official teaching materials of the State of São Paulo (Notebook student and teacher) and application activities leaves prepared for us. It consists of four lectures using the official materials, three classes for problem solving, four classes for implementation of activities leaves and two classes for socialization of results. In class prior to the implementation of activities leaves students must recognize circular cylinders that are part of everyday life, study the surface areas of concepts and volume of circular straight cylinder review simple rule of three, length measurement units, area and volume and method of rounding values. Then must solve problem situations to assess the understanding of the issues mentioned above. Regarding the implementation of activities leaves the students, in groups and with little intervention teacher, calculate the area of aluminum sheet required to build a pressure cooker and then check if the capacity specified by the manufacturer is real. They are then asked to find the minimum size of the pot with volume set, with the idea of getting material savings in manufacturing. After the implementation of activities leaves students with the mediation of the teacher, make the correction. This sequence was applied in two classes of the second high school grade of a school of the São Paulo State Education Network in a country town. It is important to note that this proposal adopts suggestions from the National Curriculum Guidelines for Secondary Education (PCNEM) and requires few resources and can be useful to other professionals. For validation of this research follow in general steps, the four phases of research methodology called Didactic Engineering.

Arthropods and vertebrates have a great ability to concentrate urine by the kidney and behaviors directed the conservation and acquisition of water and salt due to activities controlled by mechanisms involving hormones and neural circuits. The loss of water or body volume can occur in the intracellular compartment (intracellular dehydration), the extracellular compartment (extracellular dehydration) or both (absolute or duble dehydration). Studies from our laboratory had shown that in unanesthetized animals extracellular dehydration produced by furosemide injection followed by keeping animals with a sodium deficient diet does not alter the basal cardiovascular parameters, but change the basal ventilation. Therefore, the objectives of our study in unanesthetized rats submitted to intracellular dehydration or duble dehydration were: 1) to characterize the baseline cardiorespiratory responses; 2) evaluate the arterial blood gas parameters; 3) to evaluate plasma concentrations of sodium, potassium and plasma osmolality; 4) evaluate the cardiorespiratory responses to the activation of glutamate NMDA receptors in the NTS before and after pretreatment with glutamate NMDA receptor antagonist (AP5) of rats submitted to mixed dehydration. Holtzman rats were implanted with cannula in the NTS and catheter inserted in the abdominal aorta via the femoral artery and femoral vein. The ventilation (VE) measurement were obtained by whole body plethysmography method. The protocols was performed in rats euhydrated (before dehydration), dehydrated (following the methodology to induce dehydration) and/or rehydrated rats (2 h after free access to water and 0.3 M NaCl). The intracellular dehydration induced by intragastric overload 2 M NaCl (2 mL) produced an increase 22 in mean arterial pressure (MAP), without change the heart rate (HR), tidal volume (VT), respiratory rate (fR) and VE. The duble dehydration (intracellular and extracellular combined) induced by 24 h of water deprivation, produced an increase in MAP and VT without modifying the HR, fR and VE. In rehydrated rats PAM and VT returned to baseline. Unilateral injections of L-glutamate and NMDA glutamatergic receptor agonist into NTS of euhydrated rats produced pressor responses and bradycardia. After 24 hours of water deprivation these pressor and bradycardic responses produced by NMDA injection in the NTS were reduced, without changing the bradycardia produced by L-glutamate injection in the NTS. After rehydration, the pressor responses to L-glutamate and NMDA receptors in the NTS remained low and bradycardia produced by NMDA injection in the NTS. Furthermore, the objectives of our study in anesthetized animals subjected to extracellular dehydration were: 1) to characterize the baseline cardiorespiratory responses and renal sympathetic nerve activity (RSNA); 2) to evaluate the effect of peripheral blockade of AT1 receptors angiotensinergic on basal cardiorespiratory responses and on RSNA; 3) to evaluate the arterial blood gas parameters; 4) to evaluate plasma concentrations of sodium and potassium. Extracellular dehydration induced by subcutaneous injection of the diuretic furosemide did not affect the basal MAP and HR, phrenic nerve activity (PNA) and RSNA. Extracellular dehydration did not affect the pressor response produced by intravenous (iv) injection of ANG II, decreased ASNR and did not change the HR and PNA. The iv injection of losartan (AT1 receptor antagonist, 1 mg/kg body weight) induced a decrease in MAP without changing HR, and RSNA and PNA. The hypotensive response after iv injection of losartan was greater in dehydrated animals. Extracellular dehydration did not affect the response of RSNA and PNA after losartan administration. The results suggest that changes in the volume and composition of body fluids affect the cardiovascular control in animals with intracellular 23 dehydration. Furthermore, it affects the cardiorespiratory control in animals with mixed dehydration and glutamatergic neurotransmission in the NTS. Moreover, in anesthetized animals with extracellular dehydration showed no changes in baseline cardiorespiratory responses and RSNA.

This dissertation is analytically the historical formation of the Indian Reserve Araribá located in the municipality of Avai (SP), focusing on the relationships that occur between Terena and Guarani groups that will lead to the formation of a village called Tereguá where, theoretically, individuals inhabit the mixing occurred between these ethnic groups. The reserve Araribá was created in 1913 by the official indigenous agency of the Brazilian state, first the Indian Protection Service - SPI (1910-1967) and then the National Indian Foundation - FUNAI (1967 onwards), on land belonging to the unoccupied calls state of São Paulo in territorialization process of the Guarani indigenous population that was scattered between the São Paulo west, north of Parana and east of Mato Grosso do Sul. Araribá reserve, initially occupied by Guarani families, eventually adding Terena families brought by SPI, from the 1930s, from Mato Grosso (South), and Brazilian regional were also incorporated by intermarriage. Currently, the reserve of 1.930 hectares, with a population of about 600 people, is divided into four villages: Kopenoti and Ekeruá occupied by Terena families; Nimuendajú occupied by families Guarani and Terena Tereguá occupied by families, Guarani and those in which there was a mix between these two ethnic groups. The sources used are literature and ethnographic, from a participant observation and conversations with the Indians during the research field. The work seeks to make an ethnography of Tereguá community, highlighting its historical formation and their relationships, established inside the reserve, with the other villages.

The new technologies at industries improve products and services processes, needing capacitated professionals. In turn, the Technology Higher Courses (CSTs, in Portuguese), search to qualify their students to work at this Market, following the inovation dinamics. Technology demands at a region can variate according with it social, economic characteristics and regional particularities. To CSTs, this juncture of factors can create a misalignment between the content taught at student’s formation and the content applied at the Market professional practices. Based on theses, this research has the objective of analyze and identify the CSTs factors that may improve the adherence of new Technologies to the student’s vocational education. As analysis object was selected the Industrial Mechatronics CST from Itu – SP, located at Sorocaba’s Metropolitan Area. At the collect and analysis of the data was used quantitative and qualitative approach and the method of integrated single case study with single analysis unity and multiple evidences source. Among the main results, it is the identification of external and internal factors to the researched course, which interfere at the adherence of technology demands to the student’s formation. Through these factors was possible to evaluate the relationship between the CSTs academic environment and the technology institutions from the course region. Among the main barriers at adherence of new Technologies to the course, it is worth noting the lack of an academic directory responsible for communication between the course and the technology institutions. Generally was not identified the effective communication or articulation between the researched course and the regional technology companies, proposing the discussion and development of an internal system in the CSTs that can evaluate this relationship , based on the evaluation model of this research.

The publication of the SWNP - Solid Waste National Policy (Law 12.305/2010) was a landmark for the environmental issues in Brazil. One of the tools is product return strategy to the industry after consumption, through the Reverse Logistic (RL). However, RL requires proper structure and its implementation tends to be more difficult in small towns with small-scale generation and waste collection. Therefore, it is important to know and evaluate the local and regional reality, contemplating existing RL situations and allowing the identification of possible actions, which was the aim of this research that studied a set of eight small towns of the central region of São Paulo State. The information was initially obtained from contacts with representatives of local governments related to the environmental sector, later extending it to the various agents involved in waste subject to RL (trade associations, NGOs). The data were obtained from documentary research, as well as visits and local observations, and the results grouped into six categories (collection / receipt, storage, disposal, agreements and partnerships, educational activities and costs). At the end of survey, it has been found that the RL chain was consolidated in all municipalities in regard to pesticide containers and lubricating oils and in six of these municipalities, it is the same for the tires. On the other hand, the management of other wastes subject to LR showed weaknesses, where only three municipalities have proper disposal destination of electronic waste (EW) and batteries (due to existing partnerships) and only one for fluorescent lamps. The main limitations, we can mention: lack of knowledge and responsibilities in the shared responsibility chains; lack of political integration; informality in collection, storage, final disposal practices of some wastes specially batteries, EW, lamps. In terms of potential, it can be considered: little generation of some waste (batteries / EW) can be inducing factor for shared solutions for final disposal thereof; the geographical proximity among the cities studied facilitates logistics for possible partnerships.

This dissertation has main goal analyze the Learning Situation “Cartesian coordinates and transformations in the plane” of Material Support Curriculum of the State of São Paulo, Student notebook, submit a proposal of a didactic sequence to the topic and check their effectiveness. The motivation for choosing this theme came from a study made of the results of SARESP, which present a low performance in the abilities involving this subject. The work begins with a study of issues on Cartesian coordinates of SARESP and Brazil Test, and official documents as PCN and Curriculum Proposal of the State of São Paulo. They are also appreciated opinions of some researchers in the field of education on the teaching of mathematics. We also make a brief analysis of how textbooks address the issue. Then described the planning of the teaching sequence that includes the Student Notebook activities as well as its application in two classes of students in Year 8. In implementing the activities we organize students into pairs, so that they could develop problems more autonomy and less interference from the teacher. After the implementation of the activities, students were evaluated by a test similar to the SARESP with some questions drawn from these tests and others built for myself. Using the results presented by the students in the activities and evidence did an analysis of trial and error. At the end we can conclude that our work is validated, because the students have obtained satisfactory results in the assessment, showing that the learning situation applied in the format presented propose an appropriate outcome compared with SARESP. To validate our research follow in big steps, the methodology proposed by didactic engineering. This educational product is available so that teachers can use it directly in their classes.

Menopause is a physiological process associated with physiological changes that lead to increased incidence of some diseases such as sarcopenia, cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus and neurodegenerative diseases. Apoptotic process is essential for the maintenance and development of tissues. However, exacerbation of this process can lead increase to neuronal death in neurodegenerative diseases. Objective: To investigate the effects of resistance training and 17β-estradiol replacement on the modulation of p-AKT and cleaved PARP-1, proteins envolved in apoptotic process, in the hippocampus of ovariectomized rats. Methods: 66 female rats Holtzman were randomly divided into six groups: 1) Sham operated Sedentary (Sham-Sed); 2) Sham operated Resistance Training (Sham-RT); 3) Ovariectomized Sedentary (Ovx-Sed); 4) Ovariectomized Resistance Training (Ovx-RT); 5) Ovariectomized Sedentary with 17β-estradiol Replacement (Ovx-Sed-ER); 6) Ovariectomized Resistance Training with 17β-estradiol Replacement (Ovx-RT-ER). The RT protocol required the animals to climb a 1.1 m-long vertical ladder with weights attached to their tails. Each session consisted of 4 to 9 climbs with 2 minutes interval between climbing, performed once every three days for 12 weeks. Protein content of p-AKT and cleaved PARP-1 were analyzed by Western Blotting and concentrations of 17β-estradiol were determined by ELISA. Results: Our results indicate that Ovx-RT groups and Ovx-RT-ER had lower protein content of cleaved PARP-1 compared to Ovx-Sed groups and Ovx-Sed-ER respectively and higher protein content of p-AKT compared to the group Ovx-Sed in the hippocampus. Conclusion: The results of this study show that resistance training performed for 12 weeks, with or without ER may be an effective intervention to promote greater protein content of p-AKT associated with the pathway of cell survival and lower protein content PARP-1 cleaved associated with apoptosis pathway.

Diluted nitride III-V semiconductor leagues have physical properties that make them interesting for applications on optoelectronic devices. The possibility to lattice matching GaAsPN with silicon makes this semiconductor interesting for studies. In this dissertation we investigated the optical and magneto optical properties of semiconductors nanostructures of the type GaP(N)/GaAsPN. Mesures of photoluminescence (PL), photoluminescence excitation (PLE) and magneto photoluminescence (Magneto-PL) under high fields (B≤ 15T) were performed in films of GaAsPN and multiple quantum wells (MQW) of GaAsPN/GaPN. We have studied localizations effects with measures of diamagnetic shift, stoke shift and the dependence of photoluminescence peak with temperature. We observed a negative diamagnetic shift for some samples, which is an anomalous effect in these systems. It was also seen a red shift of the PL peak when the MQW samples suffered a thermal treatment. Analyzing the spin polarization properties of this material, utilizing magneto photoluminescence resolved with circular polarization, we observed polarization of the samples as high as 30% on fields of 15T.

The extracellular polysaccharide (EPS) produced by microalgae have mainly been studied because of their relevance to aquatic environments (Myklestad 1995). As the monomer composition of the EPS is presented as heteropolymers often composed of a diversity of monomers and that the diversity of EPS between algae is huge and taxonomically close organisms each other have compounds slightly different, made us believe in their use for chemotaxonomy of microalgae. The use of EPS for this purpose, was due to the ease of extracting them from cultures, their facility to be analyzed, together with their specificity and their constitution by only one or two fractions. This study goal was to verify the possibility of using EPS as features for a possible chemotaxonomic approach. Thus the characterization of algae polysaccharides was essential for a better understanding of the differences and similarities found in the EPS. Thus, throughout the chapters we will look at the characterization of specific groups which had most representatives for the selected genres. These genera were: 1) Ankistrodesmus; 2) complex Selenastrum / Messastrum / Curvastrum; 3) Monoraphidium; and 4) Kirchneriella. The observation of monomers / specific bond within the genera, due to the characterization of EPS, showed us that there are possible differentiation between strains / species and at the genus level.

The Community Library (BCo) of the Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar) has a lack of physical space for the growth of library collections and at the same time keeps bibliographies that may not be anymore interesting of making part of Basic and complementary bibliography for teaching plans of undergraduate courses of this university. The lack of bibliographic material thinning policy has been an obstacle for the administration of the library with the aim to remove the collection that is not interest of the users of the BCo and consequently make the better use of the library's physical space, such as the inclusion of new acquisitions and/ or expand study spaces to users. The aim of this mastering dissertation is to evaluate the bibliographic collection of BCo and propose a thinning policy to contribute to the rationalization of physical space. For this, are considered the lack of relevant circulation of the collection of the last 3, 7 and 10 years respectively, by existing knowledge area on the campus of UFSCar in San Carlos city. The methodology approach is the action research, providing both participation of the professional staff of the BcO and the community as well, as the expected implementation of thinning practices that should result of this dissertation.

In recent years porcelain stoneware tiles showed the highest growth in production and consumption in ceramic industry sector. To achieve low porosity, which ensures the high performance of the product, is required the formation of large amount of liquid phases during sintering and the flow of these liquids are responsible for the undesirable pyroplastic deformation. Some factors exacerbate the problem: large and rectangular shapes and faster firing cycles. Moreover, the production of tiles through a more sustainable route, the dry route, lacks studies evaluating the effects of processing method on pyroplastic deformation. Thus, this study aimed to contribute to reducing the incidence of pyroplastic deformations in porcelain stoneware tiles, in order to identify the main variables involved and suggest maneuvers for achieve this goal. In the first stage, technical porcelain stonewares were formulated using common raw materials in this type of manufacturing and prepared by wet route. The main difference between the batches was that 10% of the feldspar was replaced with other raw materials such as potash feldspar and quartz in different granulometries in order to change the characteristics of the liquid phases and to minimize pyroplastic deformation. The characterization of the batches before and after firing, as well the assessment of physical and chemical / mineralogical effects of the raw materials on deformation behavior was essential to identify the variables prevalent in deformation. In second stage some batches from previous step were prepared by dry route method, and then the same tests were performed in order to evaluate the effects of processing route on pyroplastic deformation. The results indicated that batches prepared by dry processing route are less likely to deformation mainly due to heterogeneity of microstructure. In both stages, it was found out that the viscosity of the liquid phase formed during firing is the variable that affects most significantly the pyroplastic deformation of the porcelain obtained by both processing routes studied.

The use of building technologies as prefabricated concrete wall panels has been increasing as a common practice in the Brazilian market. An aspect in the use of panels in buildings, barely explored in Brazil, is the possibility of considering it actively contributing in responsiveness to loads imposed, interacting with other elements such as pillars, slabs and beams. Since it is known that the literature about the theme is very limited, and facing a new specific standard coming soon, ABNT NBR 16475 (2016), this study has as objective to review the concepts of design and dimensioning of precast wall panels. With a review of the most recognized literatures and previous research already made, as well as analysis of the current standards, is shown the major advances related to the research theme, as well the standards parameters and criteria used nowadays. Finally, it is exemplified in a mathematical model design, adopting the parameters and criteria mentioned on the standards studied, and the information obtained in the previous academic studies, making possible to bring discussions and analysis using parallels and comparisons, providing information that are subside for important conclusions for technical, academic and industrial segment of precast concrete, promoting an advance in the discussion of a very significant and actual theme.

Ionic conductivity in glasses was first discovered and demonstrated by Warburg in 1884, but although it has been studied for over a century, the mechanisms underlying ionic conduction in glasses are not yet entirely clear. Glasses are commonly known to be electrical insulators, but some of them may present high conductivity and be candidates for different applications. The more conductive glasses result from the dissolution of halogenated salts in the glassy matrix, causing its ionic conductivity to increase by several orders of magnitude. Our approach proposes that glass can be compared to a solution in which a dissolved halogenated salt (solute) is weakly dissociated in the glassy matrix (solvent). This approach, called the weak electrolyte model, was initially proposed in the 70s to explain the almost exponential increase in the ionic conductivity of glasses in response to increasing concentrations of network modifiers (alkaline oxides). Our work proposes to expand this approach, correlating the increase in ionic conductivity with the increase in the thermodynamic activity of AgI. In addition, experiments were carried out at different temperatures in various glass compositions to confirm this correlation, using electromotive force (EMF) measurements to determine the thermodynamic activity and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements to determine the ionic conductivity of these glasses. Ionic transport was also used to examine the structural relaxation of AgPO3 glass. The glass was heated to another fictive temperature in the glass transition range and its ionic conductivity measured in situ by EIS. The kinetic parameters of the structural relaxation process, i.e., structural relaxation time ( ) and stretching parameter (β), were determined as a function of time by fitting the experimental data to KWW equations.

One of the Software Engineering challenges is the development of applications that can adapt to the heterogeneous needs of users. Technical Dynamic Composition of Services Driven by User is a solution for developing applications capable of overcoming these challenges. This type of application which will call User-Driven Service Composition Application (UDSCA) allows to compose services during its execution, thus meeting the needs of users. But the lack of guidance on how to develop UDCAs can make it difficult or even impossible to build these applications, because it may aggregate unknown solutions by developers. Looking supply this lack, this work presents an approach to guide developers during the development of this kind of application. To develop the approach, it has been defined which activities should be undertaken during the development as well as the concepts, techniques, artifacts, technologies and tools needed to perform these activities. To evaluate the approach one conducted a case study in which a UDSCA was developed in the field of building maintenance services. The resulting application of the approach was shown to be able to adapt to the heterogeneous needs of the user, also the approach provided artifacts that promoted reuse. In conclusion, the approach guides the developer during the UDSCAs development and provides artifacts that reduce efforts for development.

Support the agroecological transition processes in Horto Bela Vista and Ipanema settlements, in Iperó-SP, is an important demand since the entire region is in the buffer zone of the Ipanema National Forest. Recently, farmers from both settlements were awarded projects of implementation of Agroforestry Systems (AFS) in their plots and the monitoring of these areas, through participatory research, is an important strategy in the regional context. This study aimed to follow the agroecological transition of both settlements through participatory monitoring of forest restoration actions with AFS, seeking to evaluate and understand, through the use of sustainability indicators, changes in socio-cultural, economic and ecological aspects arising from these actions. Therefore, workshops were held with farmers and Participatory Rural Appraisal tools were used for raising awareness and building these indicators. Through participatory methodologies, a set of forty indicators were created with attributes related to soil recovery, socioeconomic aspects, socio-cultural aspects, environment and satisfaction. In a second stage, two monitoring were done; one at the end of the dry season and another at the end of the rainy season, between 2015 and 2016. The monitoring was carried out with the use of various techniques and tools that made possible the participation and understanding of farmers throughout the process. The participatory research included the objectives and the reality of the group, contributing to the perception of farmers for the need of constant monitoring to achieve the sustainability of their Agroforestry Systems. The research brought reflection on autonomy of those involved as to the various needs that the AFS have, revealing the main existing obstacles and difficulties among farmers and helped in the process of appropriation of new management techniques in production systems. In addition, it contributed to the discussion of the different dimensions of sustainability and the potential of agroforestry systems to promote agroecological transition and restore ecological processes.

One of the most important activities and that is increasingly gaining importance in recent years, among the various activities undertaken by the public authorities is on the shopping area. The bidding is an administrative procedure in which aims to select, according to predetermined objective criteria, the most advantageous hiring proposal to the government. In this process should be ensured broad participation of stakeholders, as well as equal treatment, always permeated with the legal requirements. Law n. 8.666 / 93, the General Law of Tenders and Administrative Contracts, establishes all the legal system for public procurement. The Differentiated Regime Hiring - DRC - is permeated by several goals, innovative in relation to the rules established by Law 8.666 / 93. UFSCar has adopted this regiment in their hiring process works and engineering services since 2013. The main objective of this work is to promote a comparative study between the Differentiated Regime Signings, DRC and Competition mode, governed by Law n. 8666/93 regarding the efficient procurement of works and engineering services within the UFSCar. For that was used in the methodological procedure descriptive and exploratory research through two approaches: quantitative and qualitative. The first approach corresponded to the comparative analysis, obtained by hiring historical data from the modality competition, the years 2011, 2012 and 2013, and DRC mode the years 2013, 2014 and 2015, coming from the reports of the Purchasing Department - Decom / UFSCar and Comprasgovernamental. They were established some indicators whose purpose was to measure the efficiency of the new procurement regime in relation to the mode set by competition. The qualitative approach was used to analyze the perceptions of representatives of the units that are closely linked to the bidding process under the UFSCar. The main results show that there are many perspectives introduced by the DRC, of which some have already been implemented in the bidding process for procurement of works and engineering services in this federal public education institution. Among the challenges are the various requirements, legal, technical, economic, financial and regularity with which the government by constitutional and legal provisions, is obliged to demand.. It was found that there are many drivers listed in DRC of which is an instrument capable of providing more agile, economical and efficient procurement ways, especially compared to the competition mode. On the other hand, being a relatively new law, the DRC still lacks depth studies that aim to remedy many of the doubts in its various devices and mechanisms. These factors can be mitigated through exchange of experiences with other organizations that also use the DRC in order to refine and improve its use at the university.

Hyperammonemia impairs skeletal muscle protein synthesis and induces autophagy by upregulating myostatin via nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kB). Skeletal muscle ammonia metabolism occurs via synthesis of glutamate and glutamine via critical TCA intermediate α-KG, that regulates increase expression of hypoxia inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α). Furthermore, there is a interaction between HIF-1α and NF-kB. Objective: This study evaluated the effects of hyperammonemia in NF-kB and HIF-1α cross-talking. Methods: To examine the effects of ammonium acetate intervention under HIF-1α signaling through NF-kB pathway it has generated a stable knockdown cell line for NFkB and the subunits α and β of the I kappa B kinase (IKK) complex (IKKα and IKKβ) evaluating the HIF-1α and myostatin activities. Results: The protein expression of HIF- 1α was significantly higher in C2C12 murine myotubes under ammonium acetate intervention compared to control. Once the deletion of NF-kB, IKKα and IKKβ occurs, the HIF-1α is not expressed, suggesting a cross-talking between them. The protein expression of myostatin was significantly higher in C2C12 IKKα deletion under ammonium acetate intervention compared to C2C12 random suggesting that myostatin is not IKKα dependent. Conclusion: We conclude that hyperammonemia is a normoxemic activator of HIF-1α through NF-kB pathway that results in sarcopenia via up-regulation of myostatin expression.
