Environmental problems arising from lead toxicity in materials, such as those in lead zirconate titanate (PZT) have stimulate the search for new lead-free ferroelectrics materials with ferroelectric and piezoelectric characteristics comparable to those of PZT. Potassium sodium niobate (KNN) based materials are possible candidates to replace PZT materials in several applications because their high Curie temperature and high piezoelectric coefficients. Development of microelectronics and optoelectronics requires materials with multifunctional properties and low dimensionality, therefore studies in ferroelectric thin films with applications in ferroelectric memories, ferroelectric transistors, photovoltaic devices, electronic modulators, infrared detectors and varistors are necessary. The main object of this thesis, is the synthesis and characterization of morphological, electrical and optical properties of ferroelectric KNN and samarium doped KNN (KNN:Sm3+) thin films, deposited on three diferents substrates SrTiO3, MgO e Si/SiO2) by pulsed laser deposition method (PLD), in addition, a conductive layer of LaNiO3 was deposited on SrTiO3 substrate before deposition of the ferroelectric films for using as electrode and perform electrical characterizations including current leakage, which limits applications of ferroelectric thin films. Finally, photoluminescence measurements of samarium doped films were performed in order to investigate the interaction of this element with crystal structure of KNN, which provides information about possible multifunctional applications.

Made in China / produzido no polo industrial da zona franca de Manaus : o trabalho nas fábricas chinesas
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2017-05-05) Brito, Cleiton Ferreira Maciel; Lima, Jacob Carlos; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9244132532446607; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5852813705553258
This research analyses the Chinese production in the Industrial Cluster of Manaus Free Zone, focusing on the production pattern and work management. In recent years, significant changes have been operating within the global production chain as a result of the massive displacement of Chinese capital towards the various regions of the globe. Brazil and, more specifically, the Amazon has been one of the main destinations of these Chinese investments. An empirical proof of these metamorphoses of global capital is the arrival of a set of Chinese factories at the Industrial Cluster of Manaus (PIM) from the beginning of the year 2000. In order to understand the meaning of this on the organization of local work, especially in relation to the process of productive restructuring developed in the last years, this research sought to organizationally map out four Chinese factories. Quantitative and qualitative data were produced and gathered together from workers, managers, managers of public and private institutions, and Chinese expatriates. The research findings show that the Chinese, on the one hand, incorporated the local production pattern but, on the other hand, reshaped labour management. Such remodelling I called "taylorization with Chinese characteristics", which operates under the duality of being, at the same time, Made in China, but Produced at the Industrial Cluster of Manaus. As a fundamental element of this process, it was observed that strong socio-productive linkages between parent-subsidiary generate fragile socio-productive links in the Industrial Cluster of Manaus, implying high control of the Manauara workforce and Chinese expatriates. In spite of this, there has been a process of "appropriateness / injunction" that causes some "Chinese characteristics" to be deepened while others have to undergo transformations.

A distributed system is a set of processes and links that is desgined to provide computing power and data persistency, even on the presence of failures. To encapsulate the abstraction of time and to determine which processes have currently failed, these distributed systems are based on unreliable failure detectors, which in its turn are used as a leader election service. Many works are dedicated to analyze the quality of service (QoS) of failure detectors, but a few of them has analyzed the QoS of a leader election algorithm. In this work, we present the NFD-L leader election algorithm, designed to work on crash-recovery distributed systems and to follow the QoS specification defined by Chen, Toueg e Aguilera (2002). We used NFD-L to elect Paxos coordinators for a replication framework and compared the observed QoS for NFD-L with the behavior of the framework native leader election algorithm that is not designed to explicitly meet any QoS requirement.

The agitation promoted by the vibrofluidized bed allows the incorporation of several unitary operations such as granulation, coating of particle, drying of grains, and the drying of pasty materials. However, it is necessary more studies about the drying of paste in this equipment, since according to the work of Daleffe (2005) and Meili (2009) it was verified that a same dimensionless vibration number (Γ) presented different dynamics behaviors and influenced in distinct ways in the process. To understand more about the interference that the vibrational parameters may exert in this type of operation, that the goal of this present work was to develop a more detailed study on the drying of skimmed milk in vibrofluidized bed, varying the intensities of agitation imposed to the bed, two Amplitude (A) from 0.003m and 0.015m combined at frequencies (f) ranging from 100 to 1100 RPM. Thus, firstly, it was analyzed the influence that the vibrational parameters exercised on the characteristic curves of the pressure drop and the standard deviation of pressure drop in function of the superficial velocity of the fluid (Us), when the bed was constituted with glass beads with the diameters of 0.00119m, 0.00219m, and 0.00319m. Thereafter, water evaporation tests were performed to determine the size of the inert material and the experimental conditions that would be used in the paste drying trials. For the drying of the skimmed milk has been used glass beads with 0.00319m of average diameter, air temperature of 100 ° C, surface velocity of 20% higher than minimum fluidization velocity (Umf), different agitation intensities and different paste feed rates. During the experiments, the influence of agitation on the dimensionless pressure drop, air temperature at the bed outlet, relative air humidity at the bed outlet, powder moisture content, powder production rates and powder accumulation rates were analyzed. Analyzing the obtained results, it may be verified in the two amplitudes that the increase of the agitation intensity, through the increase of the frequency, allowed the use of higher maximum feeds rates of skimmed milk in the equipment. It was also observed, for the values of Γ almost constant with different combinations of A and f, that the agitation with amplitude of 0.015m resulted in the greatest variations of pressure drop during the process, in the lower relative humidity levels, in the higher powder production rate and higher powder accumulation rates at the exit of the cyclone. In this way emphasizing the importance to inform A and f to characterize the implemented vibration in the vibrofuidized bed. From these experimental data was designed a hybrid CST / Neural to describe the heat and mass transfer phenomena that occurred during the drying of skim milk. The results showed that the proposed model presented a great agreement with the experimental data, assuming that the vibrofluidized bed behaved as a perfectly stirred tank.

Every year, up to 70% of recreational runners reported some musculoskeletal injury. Patellofemoral pain (PFP) is one of the most common injuries in these athletes. It has been reported that gait retraining may have a beneficial effect on the lower limb biomechanics and consequently may reduce the patellofemoral joint overload. However, the information regarding biomechanical and clinical effects after a training protocol in PFP runners and, the comparison between different techniques in a same cohort in order to identify the most effective are sparse. Therefore, the objectives of this thesis were: to evaluate the immediate and long-term effects of gait retraining of kinematic, electromyography, pain and function in PFP runners and; to verify the effectiveness of three running techniques on the patelofemoral joint stress in healthy runners. The three running techniques were: forefoot landing, step rate increase by 10% and forward trunk lean. Kinematic, kinetic and electromyography analysis were done. To assess pain and function, the visual analog scale and two self-reported questionnaires were used. The results showed that the three running techniques reduce pain intensity and improve function in PFP runners after 2 weeks of a supervised gait retraining and, these improvements are maintained 6 months after the intervention. The gait retraining increased the muscle pre-activation before the initial contact. Forefoot landing technique was the most effective condition for reducing patellofemoral joint loading.

Doctor Who, a British series created and produced by the BBC since 1963 has been devoted as one of the oldest and most successful series of fiction for television. The series has set its course and achieved cult status, becoming the success it is today with an extensive amount of episodes and seasons and a large expansion of its narrative universe to other media such as movies, comics, literature, digital and analog games. The expansion of a work brings a series of obstacles, a vast narrative maintained for so long and in so many media, undergoes several changes with the passage of time, the fans can also change or have different expectations. Nevertheless some series like Doctor Who, manage to remain firm and coherent over time. These series can find and construct a solid identity that is interesting and acceptable to its fans, this identity is related to the archetypes of the fictional universe of the series and is what often guides the narrative direction and the migration of this narrative to other media, this study aimed to analyze and punctuate the elements that define this identity of Doctor Who and how this can contribute to the production and study of vast transmedia narratives.

This dissertation is about the relations of childhood, school and evangelical religion of the Baniwa people, who live in the Upper Rio Negro, northwest Amazon. From ethnographic experience in communities of the Middle Rio Içana aspects of Baniwa sociality in the formation of their children are addressed in this dissertation, considering the school and the evangelical religion contexts. The school context is one of the common threads of the ethnographic narrative since the entry into the field happened after an invitation received from the Moliweni school in Vista Alegre community located in the Cuiari River within the scope of the UFSCar Observatory of Indigenous School Education. The religious and school events in Baniwa communities of the Middle Içana demonstrate the importance of religion in its social organization as well as its influence in the debates regarding differentiated Baniwa school education. Thus, this ethnography describes the formativa process of children anf young in their communities in school and religious spaces to understand the meaning of good living in the Baniwa communites of the Middle Içana

Bacteria and fungi are the main etiological agents potentially causing health care-related infections and the fourth leading cause of death, according to the WHO. Parasitic agents such as Leishmania infantum chagasi, the causative agent of leishmaniasis, neglected and endemic disease, have treatments that are not always effective and have serious side effects. Resistance to antibiotics, antimycotics and leishmanicides, has increasingly induced bioprospecting and synthesis of new substances with pharmacological properties. The Schiff bases, especially those derived from the N, N’-bis (salylcilidene) -1,2-phenylenediamine linker, also known as Salofen, have been studied in order to demonstrate the physical, chemical and biological properties due to Variety of potential technological applications. The objective of this work was to evaluate the biotechnological potential of the Schiff N, N’-bis (salylcilidene) -1,2-phenylenediamine (Salofen) base derivative in relation to the antimicrobial and leishmanicidal activity. Agar diffusion techniques and microdilution assays were used for bacterial and yeast studies, and the colorimetric method with Alamar Blue® for Leishmania tests at 24 and 48 hours. Inhibition halos were observed for all microorganisms tested, with the highest mean halos (30 mm) for Candida albicans. Dilution assays have shown promising results, with inhibition rates above 90%, emphasizing better Gram-negative efciency. The leishmanicidal effect was also observed with IC50 at 1.06 mg.mL−1 at 24 hours and 0.66 mg.mL−1 at 48 hours. Thus, the data collected suggest that the Schiff base tested has an antimicrobial and leishmanicidal potential of the compound studied, suggesting a biotechnological application.
