listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Magneto hipertermia in vitro em células hek293t utilizando nanopartículas de óxido de ferro magnéticas com diferentes recobrimentos(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2017-08-03) Shigeyosi, Willian Takemitsu; Cardoso, Mateus Borba; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5602822410102641; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5442217738319985One of the largest challenges on medicine has been developing treatments for several types of cancer. Moreover, conventional treatments for cancer such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy have been presenting undesirable secondary effects. As an alternative, nanomaterials have the premise of improving and creating a new route of treatment and diagnosis. Currently, iron oxide nanoparticles are strongly studied especially because of their ability to produce heat when they are subjected to an alternating magnetic field. The mechanism of induced heating via external magnetic field is called magnetic hyperthermia and, through this mechanism, it becomes possible to make the biothermic applications and use drug delivery system. The advantage of using a magnetic nanomaterial comes from the unusual feature knew as superparamagnetism. The superparamagnetic systems does not present spontaneous magnetization nor coercive field therefore their magnetization curves do not present hysteresis losses. Therefore, the motivation of this work comes from the need for biophysical information regarding the hyperthermic magneto treatment of these nanomaterials in human tissues. Thus, the aim of this thesis is to deal with fundamental aspects related to the behavior of the Fe3O4 nanoparticles in cell media during hyperthermia. In this context, it will be approaching some questions about the use of iron oxide nanoparticles with distinct types of coatings. Discussing the advantages and disadvantages of each coating according to its physico-chemical characteristics as well as its cytotoxicity. In addition, this work approaches the hyperthermic magneto potential of these superparamagnetic coated nanoparticles by comparing their respective performances in the treatment of human’s embryonic kidney cells HEK293T. Through the development of this work it was observed that for a good bioapplicability’s samples must present a low cytotoxicity, in this case the coatings formed by surfactants like centrimonium bromide and sodium dodecyl sulfate presented a high rate of cellular mortality not being indicated for the treatment. Finally, the potential of magnetic hyperthermia for a biocompatible nanomaterial should be evaluated, in this case the best results associated to hyperthermia treatment were obtained for nanoparticles coated with chitosan, polyethylene glycol and PEGylated phospholipid.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Qualidade físico-química e sensorial das alfaces das cultivares Romanela e Rubinela produzidas em diferentes sistemas de cultivo(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2017-08-03) Rossi, Cláudia Margareth Abe; Verruma-Bernardi, Marta Regina; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3470912236544684; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2689462045181413Lettuce is one of the vegetables with the highest consumption and economic importance worldwide, extensively cultivated in all continents, particularly in temperate and subtropical regions. In Brazil, there is a market that explores new varieties for the tropical climate. The cultivars Romanela and Rubinela are innovative varieties, since they are crunchy and tropicalized. Lettuce cultivation can be carried out in different cropping systems, which have different characteristics in their management practices and can influence the quality parameters of this vegetable. The aim of this work was to verify the physical, physicochemical and sensory quality of these cultivars produced in conventional, hydroponic and organic systems. The plantings of the conventional system and the hydroponic system were conducted in the experimental area of CCA – UFSCar; the organic system was performed in a ranch in the city Cordeirópolis - São Paulo State. After the harvest, the samples were evaluated regarding leaf area, leaf size, unit leaf area, fresh mass, mass loss, turgidity pressure, instrumental color, pH, total soluble solids (TSS), total titrable acidity (TTA), total phenolic compounds (TPC), and sensory characterization. The cultivation systems influenced the physical characteristics size, weight and mass loss of the Romanela lettuce. For the Rubinela lettuce, the type of cultivation influenced in fresh mass and mass loss. The organic cultivar (cv) Romanela presented dark green color and superior values for pH, TSS and TPC. The hydroponic Romanela had the highest value for TTA. The organic cv. Rubinela presented the most intense red color and the highest STT and TPC values. The hydroponic Rubinela lettuce presented the lowest pH and TPC values and the highest TTA value. In the sensory analysis, the evaluators noticed a difference in the attributes green color, leaf size and crunchiness, grassy aroma and sweet taste for the Romanela cv. The conventional and hydroponic Romanela lettuce presented the highest preference. For cv. Rubinela, the evaluators noticed a difference in the attributes purple and green colors, leaf thickness and size, sweet and bitter tastes. The conventional and hydroponic Rubinela lettuce were the preferred, with the hydroponic presenting the highest purchase intention. Therefore, the physical-chemical and sensorial characteristics of the new lettuce, Romanela and Rubinela cultivars were influenced by the conventional, hydroponic and organic cultivation system, generating production and post-harvest information of importance for the producer and consumer.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Plano diretor municipal e participação popular contributiva avaliados por um modelo integrador(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2017-08-03) Colenci, Pedro Luciano; Oliveira, Celso Maran de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9911833172043700; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7632574186989869This thesis is about contributory participation in the elaboration and updating of urban planning and its goal is to demonstrate the influence of contributory management in the transformation processes which currently affect life in the cities and the Urban Planning processes. Thus, it describes the historic, political and legal development of the Brazilian urbanism; it also identifies the construction of urban law as an autonomous field of law, with the purpose of demonstrating that this field, notwithstanding it being an autonomous legal institute, it relies on political issues. It was analyzed the city democratic management and the limits of its contingency, it was carried out a diagnostic of the citizenry contribution effectiveness in the municipal public management, it was examined the participatory democracy in the city of São Carlos, in a direct way as well as in a secondary one, and, finally, it was explained the current phase of municipal planning through an integrating model. It is important to highlight that, parallel to this research, two other researches were conducted in order to accompany, collect data and evaluate the review process of the Strategic Plan of São Carlos city; as a result of this research, it is suggested a Maturity Model. Regarding the methodology, this work can be classified as a descriptive, exploratory research. As for the technique employed in the data collection, it was supported by bibliographic, documental research and the analysis of secondary data to be obtained from accomplished researches. As a research result, it was identified that the need to systematize the municipal planning activities results from the rational comprehensive model which derivate from a schematized model of decision making, which this study proposes to evaluate the Maturity Degree of the involved agents in the formation and reviewing process of the Urban Planning, with the aim of engaging the representatives and the people, in which technology and social science contributed to a better world and in which planning would be an important instrument to social progress. Therefore, participation seems as a fundamental element towards balance of the factors influencing the decision-making process.
