The high yield obtained in maize is a result good plant development during the crop cycle, supported by good water availability in the soil and best management practices, resulting in effective plant nutrition and control of insect pests and diseases. Diabrotica speciosa stands out as an important insect species causing significant damage to the plant roots consequently reducing the absorption of water and nutrients. It is reported as key corn pest in Brazilian southern states and some areas of the Southeast and Center-West. Its impacts might cause yield losses ranging from 10 to 13% under high infestation. Some methods of control might be used to reduce pest infestation and consequently the damage caused by the insect such as chemical control, transgenic plants and biological control. An alternative potential method could be to induce plant resistance with silicon (Si) through plant nutrition. Studies have shown that Si can stimulate plant growth and yield, as well as confer protection against abiotic factors, such as aluminum toxicity and water scarcity, and against biotic stress such as diseases and insects. Therefore, the hypothesis of this work is that Si also promotes modifications in the anatomy and morphological characteristics of the root system leading to an increased resistance against D. speciosa in maize plants. The project was conducted under greenhouse conditions, in a 2x2x2 factorial scheme: two maize hybrids, two quantities of silicon and two degrees of infestation by D. speciosa (with and without infestation). The attributes plant height, dry mass (root and above ground), Si content (root and above ground), root injury caused by the insect and anatomical characters of the root system were measured and submitted to analysis of variance and to the comparison test of means of Tukey to 5%. The higher availability of Si did not impact the plant biomass production (root and above ground). Si can induce modifications in the anatomy of the root system. By the other hand differences were found between maize hybrids. The HY01 hybrid showed a natural higher degree of resistance to D. speciosa larvae, potentially conferred by better root development and higher deposition of suberin in the exoderm, since this compound stimulates defense enzymes against herbivory. To this end, the International Council on Archives proposes Records in Contexts, a conceptual model of archival description identified as RiC-CM. Faced with the question "where in the RIC-CM meets archival description requirements according to public consultation the archival community?" the general objective of the research is to explore the adherence of the RiC-CM to the archival description requirements indicated by the archival community and to examine the conceptual, methodological and practical aspects of the archival description; explore the RiC-CM; analyze the AtoM software; evaluate the manifestations of the archival community in response to the public consultation with RiC-CM. As methodological procedures, the qualitative approach is applied, with an exploratory and descriptive purpose and uses bibliographic and documentary procedures. As a result, the RiC-CM needs a considerable amount of adjustments in the approaches to methodology, project development, inclusion, transparency, comprehensiveness and technology, although the ICA initiative proposes a fill a gap regarding the standardization of archival description be commendable. The Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) is not an exception, but some of its programmes employ active learning methodologies, such as Problem Based Learning (PBL). The Ubiquitous Computing Group (UCG) of UFSCar, which was established in 2002, has been developing projects focused mainly on the Education and Health areas, and recently coordinated the development of the project Educational and Academic Management System for Courses Based on Active Learning Methodologies (EAMS-CBALM). The Scrum agile method was employed in the EAMS-CBALM development, with periodic meetings involving developers and Product Owners (POs) for planning and analyzing the different EAMS-CBALM development phases. It was quite often necessary to redefine some system behaviour scenarios, due to ambiguities present in requirement specifications, or due to misinterpretations of stories reported by POs. The definition of test suites was also cumbersome, resulting in test suites that were incomplete or did not at all comply with the system requirements. Based on this experience and to deal with these problems, this work proposes the ScrumOntoBDD approach, which combines Scrum, Ontology and Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD), for agile software development. This approach explores the concepts and techniques of SCRUM and BDD, focusing on the planning and analysis phases of software life cycle, since the BDD tools provide little support to these phases, and most of the problems found in the EAMS-CBALM development were in those phases. Riparian zones are among those that undergo major biological invasions. The accumulation of biomass and necromass interferes in the dynamics of the plant community in a significant way. Considering the potential harmfulness of invasive species, it is interesting that we think of forms of control. Our objectives are to determine if: 1) biomass and necromass production of Hedychium coronarium, Urochloa decumbens, Melinis minutiflora and Pennisetum purpureum are related to climatic variables, 2) the net primary aerial production of H. coronarium, U. decumbens, M. minutiflora and P. purpureum throughout the year, 3) to test the effect of once and twice-yearly cutting of H. coronarium ramets on their growth 4) to test the effect of H. coronarium rhizome cutting off once a year, 5) to test the effect on growth of H. coronarium with injection in its rhizomes of alcoholic extract of Typha dominguens in two concentrations (5% e 10%) and from leaves and rhizome, 6) to test the effect on growth of H. coronarium with injections of glyphosate into its rhizomes and 7) with spray of glyphosate on its leaves. Our hypotheses are 1) the production of biomass and necromass will be related to climatic variables, 2) the net primary aerial production of all species will be high in the year of study and 3) there will be effect in the growth of H. coronarium with the application of the treatments. For one year we collected monthly aerial biomass and necromass of the four species. To calculate net primary aerial production, we used Smalley’s method. We tested the data for normality using Shapiro-Wilks test. Relations among climatic variables were tested with Spearman’s test. Variables not related to each other were tested with a mixed linear model (GLM) in its relationship with climate. To select most adequate model of explanation, we used AKAIKE test (AIC), within R environment. For mechanical control we established three plots in five sites subdivided into four sub plots: i) control, ii) cutting off ramets once a year, iii) cutting off ramets twice a year and iv) pulling out ramets and rhizomes. For the experiment of chemical control of H. coronarium planted five pieces of 10 cm of rhizomes in aquariums of 30 cm x 30 cm x 20 cm with 5 cm of fertilized soil. Aquariums were kept in a room with 12 hours of light and 12 hours of dark and temperature 24+/-2°C. To test glyphosate injection and spray, we left four aquariums for control, four for injection and four for spray. Injections were made with 10 mL of the product undiluted. Five months after the first injection, we repeated the procedure. To test glyphosate spray, we repeated the application two months after the first spray, and again after four months. To test Typha domingensis alcoholic extract, three aquariums were left for control, three had its ramets injected with leaf alcoholic extract at 5 % and 10 % concentration, three had its ramets injected with rhizome alcoholic extract at 5 % and 10 Once a month, we numbered the ramets and measured their diameter on soil level and the total height for all experiments. To test the differences for height and diameter among treatments, we used linear mixed models. All analysis was conducted within the R statistical environment. We also used mortality rates expressed in percentage of dead ramets. The species studied have a direct relationship with the environmental variables in question and cause great impacts on riparian zone due to its high production of biomass and necromass throughout the year, especially H. coronarium and P. purpureum. Therefore, control measures are of extreme interest. The control experiments of H. coronarium were efficient, treatment with glyphosate injection in the rhizomes of the plant was the one that obtained the best result, with mortality rate of 97,3 %. By linking to the fact that it has a complex object of study - information, its interdisciplinary inclination is recognized. With the growth of Postgraduate Programs in Information Science in Brazil and consequent expansion of research in the area, it becomes relevant to identify how the interdisciplinary relationships in the area occur. The potential of the Plataforma Lattes in the development of bibliometric studies is acknowledged for providing a legitimate representation of Brazilian science. The objective of this research was to investigate the multidisciplinary profile and the interdisciplinary relations of Information Science with other areas of knowledge. The research method was of an exploratory nature, with a quantitative approach and involved the use of bliometrics and network analysis techniques. The sample analyzed involed 417 Lattes Curricula of teachers linked to the postgraduate programs, from 2013 to 2017 and of 370 co-authors identified in the scientific production of these teachers, comprising the four-year evaluation period of the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), from 2013 to 2016. As a result, it was characterized the multidisciplinary profile and interdisciplinary relations in Information Science, identifying the areas that provide and those that receive contributions from Information Science. It was concluded that the results contribute to instrumentalize the understanding of interdicisplinarity in the scientific activity of the area, and consequently to its strengthening and visibility as an area of knowledge in the Brazilian National Postgraduate System.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Análise da distribuição espacial dos casos suspeitos de Dengue, Chikungunya e Zika no município de São Carlos-SP(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018-08-27) Lima, Anete Medeiros de; Uehara, Sílvia Carla da Silva André; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3903413440784581; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9040721403301129The aim of this study was to analyze the spatial distribution of suspected cases of Dengue Virus (DENV), Chikungunya Virus (CHIKV) and ZIKV Virus (ZIKV) and the relationship with socioenvironmental indicators of the city of São Carlos-SP. This is an ecological study with multiple measures of analysis. Secondary data from the Information System on Notifiable Diseases (SINAM) were used in the period from 2016 to 2017, in addition to data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) of the last Demographic Census of 2010. The data were obtained after approval by the Research Ethics Committee of UFSCar. Descriptive statistics of the diseases were performed, followed by a bivariate analysis of the sociodemographic variables and their relationships with the independent variables (scholarity and race). The construction of the social-environmental indicators was processed using Statistica software version 12.0, using the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) technique. The suspected cases geocoding was achieved by exporting the Excel tables to Google's Fusion Tables. After the geocoding of the addresses by Fusion Tables, the list was imported to Google Earth Pro .The generation of thematic maps was performed by Arcgis software version 10.5. In 2016 and 2017, 4552 and 1114 suspected dengue cases were registered, respectively; 118 and 71 suspected cases of chikungunya and 59 and 8 suspected cases of zika.The arboviruses predominated in female patients, being dengue, 52.99% in 2016 and 49.82% in 2017; to chikungunya 70.34% in 2016 and 57.75% in 2017; and for zika 67.71% in 2016 and 62.50% in 2017. Regarding the age group in the analyzed period, 37.5% of the suspected cases of DENV, 38.6% of the suspected cases of CHIK and 62.7% of the suspected cases of ZIKV were concentrated in the age ranges of 21 to 30 years and 41 to 50 years.The bivariate analysis showed the highest rates of DENV, CHIKV and ZIKV in people with complete high school, incomplete higher education and complete higher education. In 2017, the highest rate of dengue was reported in the Cidade Jardim weighting area with 52.91 suspected cases/10,000 inhabitants; The Jockey Club weighting area presented the highest rate of chikungunya and zika with respectively 7.66 suspected cases/10,000 inhabitants. and 1.41 suspected cases/10,000 inhabitants. The results showed high rates of suspected cases of arboviruses in weighted areas with appropriate social conditions and reduced rates in weighted areas with social. Among the composite columns, the one of the filled type stands out, characterized by the filling of the tubular profile of steel by concrete. In this system, the combination of steel and concrete aims to take advantage of the good characteristics of these materials in a single structural element besides imparting speed of execution, flexibility, freedom in structural design, lightness, compatibility with other materials and rational use of materials. In this context, the present work presents the development of a methodology for numerical analysis of the square concrete filled steel tube composite columns under eccentric loads. For the modeling, the software ANSYS® was used and the numerical model was validated using experimental results. Important aspects of the choice of finite elements, mesh and form of force application, as well as the constitutive models of steel and concrete were discussed. After validation, the numerical model was used to evaluate the influence of the yielding strength of steel and the concrete compression, eccentricity of the applied force and slenderness ratio in the load resistance and the behavior of the concrete filled steel tube column. The analyzed parameters revealed a direct influence on the behavior of the concrete filled steel tube column mainly in terms of load capacity and rigidity. Comparative analyzes of all parameters allowed observations on the most important variables.
