According to Historical-Cultural Theory, voluntary activity is a neoformation which appears at the end of pre-school age, becoming children aware of their actions and capable of controlling them. A delayed development of voluntary activity poses complications on their school life when they are not able to neither organize school activities nor focus attention. This research aims at assessing developmental indicators of voluntary activity, among 3-6 years-old children, from role play activity and structured and non-structured children´s play. The research was carried out in Brazil and in Mexico, having the following characteristics: in both countries participant observation with 3-6 years-old children in pre-school age was conducted. In Mexico, this research was carried out in a private school, and in Brazil, in a Children Education City Center (CMEI). Children ranging 5-6 years-old were evaluated by a neuropsychological assessment of voluntary activity and their teachers were interviewed. Data collected in Mexican school, where role play is structured by the teacher as a ‘principal activity’ pointed out that voluntary activity increased among the three groups assessed, as follows: as language passed from external to internal level; the initiative/independence increased by the introduction of symbolism in games; the decreasing of the level of distraction, which ensured the respect for regulations until the game ended; as children were capable of accomplishing actions that they were not out of the role play, for instance, the conflict resolution. On the other hand, in CMEI we observed the initial development of role play organized by children with no-structuring from the adult, despite of detecting voluntary activity indicators during the game. In this case, the indicators were unsatisfactory once we could perceive independence/initiative in some situations but also strictly attachment to objects, low use of verbal language and incapacity of solving conflicts. In view of this situation, the researcher conducted some specific interventions during games, attempting to operate on the ‘zone of proximal development’, and allowing the experiment of voluntary behaviors as well as progress in the way children organized games, as: increasing the time of commitment and the number of characters; exploring and sustaining a dialogue; exploring further possibilities of thematic; creating rules and solving conflicts according to social roles. Thus, we conclude that the social role play, intentionally organized by the teacher, promoted a greater number of actions indicative of voluntariness and with greater complexity, when compared to the role play without adult participation.

(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018-12-17) Lughi, Aliceia Celene; Fioroni, Luciana Nogueira; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8086810053892035; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7879295898523309
Considering the preoccupations with the advances and limits of the RAPS, which subsidizes strategies for a territorialized intervention and based on the offer of a continuous care to the subject in psychological distress, the present research proposes to map and describe the operation of the equipment that compose the RAPS in the municipality of Araraquara-SP. It aims to describe and understand the care of people in psychiatric crisis in the RAPS, in order to investigate the different strategies of care of the services that comprise it, considering the conceptions and experiences of coordinators, managers and health professionals. It is an empirical research, with a qualitative-interpretative approach, having as field the RAPS of Araraquara -SP and as corpus of analysis the experiences of managers and health professionals. It was carried out a survey and characterization of the health equipment regarding the structure, work model and clinic offered, besides the different care strategies in crisis situation. The instruments constructed and used by the research were a semi-structured interview script, applied to 19 professionals / managers of RAPS services, and another script with RAPS user. The data were recorded and transcribed literally, and the analysis was based on the Thematic Content Analysis technique (MINAYO, 2014; BARDIN, 1979). The results were systematized in two large groups: I) described: characterization of the participants, description of the participating teams, performance of the participating teams, and training strategy; II) analytic: cores of sense distributed in thematic categories. The descriptive data indicate that the great majority of the participants are women, between 31 and 37 years old, are of the following careers, in descending order: nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, physical education and pharmacy. Many professionals (11) accumulate management function with care work. The equipment represented by the interviews was distributed as follows: Basic Care (9), CAPS (4), Urgency and Emergency (2), hospital care (2). The analytical data resulted in the following thematic categories: I dilemmas and barriers in relation to mental health care, II articulation between the health services that make up the RAPS, IIIexperience with RAPS users. The health equipment faces several dilemmas and obstacles that hamper the actions of care prevented the strengthening and the networking, being the lack of communication one of the most compromising factors. The articulation between health equipment and management is fragile and it is necessary that there be public investments in management strategies such as integrated planning, institution of flows, protocols and service agreement. The experience with a user of the RAPS equipment reveals that the subject is waiting for a long period of consultation with psychiatrists that results in hospitalization, demonstrating the fragmentation of care.

Over the centuries, chemical reactions have been carried out in the same way in standardized glassware. On the other hand, continuous flow reactions are gaining interest regularly and demand for the related hardware toolkit is also increasing every day. In this scenario, the current work describes assembly of different continuous flow reaction systems that enable: I. Synthesis of trisubstituted 1,2,3-triazoles using molecular sieve as a solid catalyst; II. Organocatalytic applications of multicomponent reaction-derived prolyl pseudo-peptide catalysts supported on the renewable polymer applied to asymmetric Michael addition; III. Photochemical process for the synthesis of indoles and indolines. Moreover, an instrumental setup configuration was created that combines the advantages of chromatography and online analysis of the reactional parameters.

In view of the fast increase in the number of people affected by chronic no communicable diseases in Brazil and in the world, the provision of health promotion and disease prevention actions in health facilities in Primary Care becomes a convenient option for the population in order to promote healthier aging throughout life. Thus, participation in these actions can have a positive economic impact for users and for the public health system. In this context, the objective of this study was to analyze the association between the participation in preventive actions offered in Primary Care and the use of Tertiary Care health services. It was a quantitative, longitudinal and retrospective study, which identified preventive actions in all the health units of the municipality and analyzed the medical records and hospital records of the participants of the actions, in order to verify how they used the network tertiary level, compared to those who did not participate, with a sample of 496 people. Number of visits, number of diseases, number of hospitalizations and number of medications were analyzed. Descriptive and intergroup analysis were performed using the Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) statistical package, with the Chi-square test for the categorical data and the Mann Whitney test for comparison between the groups. The mean age of the participant group was 60.6 years (SD ± 13.1) and the non-participant group was 60.4 years (SD ± 13.0). Of the 28 units analyzed, 71% had health promotion actions, divided into two categories: a) supervised body/manuals activities (40,6%); and b) oriented health education activities (59,4%). Of the 894 hospital visits analyzed, except for the number of exams, there was no statistically significant difference between the groups for the number of visits, urgency appointments, medications, hospitalizations, days of hospitalization and outpatient visits. It was concluded that there was no relation between participation in actions to promote health and use of hospital services.

INTRODUCTION: Family caregivers of people with chronic diseases often experience life changes, which may impact on their ability to provide care. In this context, knowing the skills of the caregivers is relevant, aiming to help it through assistance actions and improving the quality of care provided, besides their quality of life. In 2008, the researcher Lucy Barrera Ortiz created and validated the first version of the instrument “Habilidad de cuidado de cuidadores familiares de personas con enfermedad crónica” and in 2014 the author made available the second version of the instrument, after testing the psychometric properties of it and named it “Escala para medir la habilidad de cuidado de cuidadores familiares de personas con enfermedad crónica”. The author authorized us to do the process of translation, adaptation and validation of the scale in Brazil. The process began in 2016 and the stages of cultural adaptation and validation of the scale were developed in this master's research from 2017. OBJECTIVE: To adapt and validate the “Escala para medir la habilidad de cuidado de cuidadores familiares de personas con enfermedad crónica” to the Brazilian context". METHODS: This is a methodological study that followed the steps recommended by Beaton et al. (2000). The process happened with the stages of translation, synthesis of translations, back-translation, reviewed by a committee of experts and pre-testing. After its cultural adaptation, the Brazilian version was titled “Escala para medir a habilidade de cuidado de cuidadores familiares de pessoas com doença crônica” (Escala HCCF-DC) and then were analyzed the psychometric properties of reliability (internal consistency) and validity (convergent and discriminant) of the same. All ethical precepts have been respected (Opinion No. 1,435,698). In the present research, three articles derived from the study will be presented, which specifically aimed to: 1. Identify in the literature instruments that measure the care ability of the family caregiver of people with chronic disease; 2. To translate and culturally adapt the “Escala para medir a habilidade de cuidado de cuidadores familiares de pessoas com doença crônica” for the Brazilian context; 3. Evaluate the reliability and construct validity of the Brazilian version of the HCCF-DC Scale. RESULTS: In the systematic review of the literature, we found three instruments to measure family caregiver care ability: Caring Ability Inventory, Habilidad de cuidado de cuidadores familiares de personas con enfermedad crónica and Home Health Care Competence Instrument "GCPC-UN-CPC. In the process of cultural adaptation of the “Escala para la medir a habilidad de cuidado de cuidadores familiares de personas con enfermedad crónica”, all items of the scale were reviewed by a committee composed of seven specialists, in which the content validity index (IVC) ) of 1.00 in 41 items, IVC = 0.86 in three items and IVC = 0.71 in four items. After the adequacy of the seven items, the pre-test was applied to 14 family caregivers of people with chronic kidney disease (CKD), adjusting the verb tense of the items to the present indicative, to facilitate the understanding of the items by the population target, reaching the final version of the HCCF-DC Scale. This version was tested for its internal consistency and construct validity. It was observed good reliability of the domains and total of the scale, with Cronbach's alpha ≥ 0,70. In addition, the scale presented discriminative capacity of caregivers' care ability according to the quality of life (worse and better) and the presence of anxious and depressive symptoms. In addition, we hypothesized the relationship between the scale measure with domains of another instrument to measure care ability (Caregivers' Skill Inventory) and overload and dependence for instrumental activities of the family's daily life, thus indicating validity of the convergent and discriminant construct of the HCCF-DC Scale when applied to 107 family caregivers of people with CKD on hemodialysis. CONCLUSION: The HCCF-DC Scale demonstrated reliability and validity of a convergent and discriminant construct when applied to family caregivers of people with CKD. Further research is recommended to verify the psychometric performance of the scale in Brazil, as well as other instruments of measurement of the ability of care found in the literature review, thus consolidating their reliability and validity. In addition, there is a need to broaden the knowledge about the caregiver's ability to care in Brazil and in the world, as well as related aspects.

Integrins are key receptors that mediate cell adhesion to the extracellular matrix (ECM) and regulate cell behavior including cell migration. Particularly, αvβ3 integrin, the vitronectin receptor, plays a key role in both physiological angiogenesis and in tumor progression. This receptor recognizes the arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD) motif in ECM proteins and it can be antagonized by RGD-peptides, resulting in decreased cell migration and invasion. RGD-based drugs have shown disappointing results in clinical trials; however, the reasons for their lack of activity are still obscure. Aiming to contribute to a better understanding on the molecular consequences of integrin inhibition, we have tested a recombinant RGD-disintegrin (DisBa-01) in two types of murine cell lines, breast tumor 4T1BM2 cells and L929 fibroblasts. Only tumor cells showed decreased motility and adhesion as well as morphologic alterations upon DisBa-01 treatment. This result was attributed to the higher levels of αvβ3 in 4T1BM2 cells making them more sensitive to DisBa-01 blocking. Flow cytometry analysis showed that DisBa-01 induced cell cycle arrest at S phase in 4T1BM2 cells, but did not induce apoptosis, which was consistent with the decrease in caspase-3, 8 and 9 expression at mRNA and protein levels. It was also observed that this disintegrin increases LC3B expression in both cell lines, an indicator of autophagic induction. In conclusion, DisBa-01 specificity towards 4T1BM2 cells when compared to L929, could be due to the higher level of expression of αv and β3 integrins in these cells, and these observations suggest new insights on the effects of RGD-based inhibitors considering their importance on drug development for human health.

Infrared thermography is a noninvasive diagnostic imaging method that does not require animal restraint. This tool provides instant images, in real time, even at great distances, being very advantageous for wild animals. The thermograph, which measures the frequency of infrared rays, locates hot or cold regions in the body tissues, detecting physiological or pathological processes that modify body temperature. Compared with other imaging modalities, it does not require anesthesia, and does not expose the patient to radiation. In the veterinary diagnosis of wild animals, thermal imaging is used to determine causes of lameness, lesions and inflammation; in the diagnosis of infectious diseases, reproductive period and gestation; and to assess animal welfare and stress levels. This research aimed to use infrared thermography as a tool for remote diagnosis in wild canids and felids kept ex-situ. The research was developed at the Municipal Zoo "Quinzinho de Barros" in Sorocaba, state of São Paulo. During one year the images were recorded biweekly in 45 individuals, 18 of the Canidae Family and 27 of the Felidae Family. The device used to capture the images was the FLIR T460 thermograph. During the study no thermal change was noticed in the images taken biweekly. Twelve animals presented symptoms at different times, and images were taken immediately and then recorded every 3 days to follow the evolution of the clinical signs and treatment. Thermal alterations of the images were interpreted and correlated with the clinical signs. The method showed good sensitivity when applied to felids, as they present short hair, allowing a better capture of the heat emitted by the local tissues. In the canids there was good sensitivity for head and limb disorders, because these regions have shorter hair. It is concluded that thermography is a good diagnostic tool for canids and felids, assisting in diagnosis or guiding the veterinarian in their conduct; being an examination carried out at a distance, without stress, non-invasive and painless, prioritizing animal welfare.

The service quality provided by a university library is an important factor in user satisfaction, however because it is a multidimensional concept there are difficulties in relation to how it is evaluated. The aim of this study was to investigate the use of SERVQUAL in a university library using a longitudinal design. Thus, the research was divided into two stages. The first consisted of a systematic review of the literature on the assessment of service quality in a library to identify an overview of publications on service quality in libraries. The second stage consisted of investigating the impact of the interventions carried out between 2013 and 2017 in a university library on the dimensions of service quality, through the application of SERVQUAL in two moments combined with identification of interventions through a case study and an interpretative analysis impact of interventions. The results showed that the interventions had an impact on reducing the negative gaps in the service quality dimensions of the library under investigation. This study contributes to guide librarians in directing interventions related to improving the service quality provided to users.

This research started with the question "What do music teachers from the Municipal System of Education (SME) teach in São Carlos?” It had, as general objective, the investigation on how music teachers select and organize contents for the initial years of basic education in the SME of São Carlos. As specific objectives, we seek to identify what content the teachers work with, analyze how these contents are organized, find out why they select these contents and why they consider them as musical knowledge valid to be taught in schools and, finally, to verify what purpose of teaching music they perform. In order to answer our research question, we carried out a bibliographical review, in search of works that relate Music Education and Curriculum. We define a focus on Content Selection and Organization, one of the dimensions of the curriculum, also using the typology of contentes presented by Antoní Zabala to accomplish the analysis. We use, as research method, a Study of Interviews and, as technique of data collection, the semi-structured interviews. Five effective music teachers from the SME of São Carlos participated in this research. We could observe, among the contents mentioned by teachers, the predominance of procedural contents. We were also able to analyze and understand three possibilities of content organization in the initial years of elementary school and to verify the purpose of music teaching in school, through the perspective of these teachers. Conclusively we verify that, in this Content Selection and Organization process, what looks like freedom, flexibility or protagonism to teach, is actually a false autonomy, forged in a context of instability of music in the school program and lack of official guidelines to music teaching.

Inteligência emocional: relação com inteligência, habilidades sociais, variáveis sociodemográficas e profissionais
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018-12-17) Peixoto, Isaías; Nascimento, Monalisa Muniz; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9444899939943716; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7223015051539698
Emotional Intelligence (EI) is a psychological construct widely broadcasted in the last two decades, especially outside the academic environment. Several studies have been conducted regarding EI, but a larger scientific research framework is needed to consolidate EI as a capacity of intelligence and to demonstrate its relationship with other psychological constructs and variables from daily life. EI may be related to Intelligence (G), Social Skills (HS), gender, age, education, family income and characteristics of the organization environment. Hence, the goal of this research was twofold: first, to study the relationship between EI and G, HS and sociodemographic variables. Second, to investigate EI, G and HS as present in workers in different areas of the organization and in both leaders and non-leaders. As such, the research was divided in two separate studies. The goal of the first study was to analyze the relationship between EI and G, EI and the sociodemographic variables of age, gender, family income, education and EI and HS; the second verified the level of EI, G and HS presented by professionals in different areas and leadership roles in the organizational context. Both studies had the participation of 120 adults, aged 32.16 years in average (SD = 8.82, Md = 31), 84 (70%) men and 36 (30%) women, working in 24 companies in the countryside of the state of São Paulo. They took the Teste Informatizado de Percepção das Emoções Primárias (PEP) and the Teste Informatizado de Compreensão Emocional (TCE) to measure EI; the abstract reasoning and linguistic intelligence modules of the Bateria de Provas de Raciocínio (BPR-5) to check G levels; the Inventário de Habilidades Sociais 2 (IHS2-Del-Prette) and the Sociodemographic and Career Path Survey (Questionário Sociodemográfico e de Carreira Profissional – QSCP). The main results of the first study indicate a weak to positive and moderate correlation between EI and G testing; a moderate and negative correlation between age and emotional perception; a weak and positive correlation between emotional understanding and education and no significant correlation between EI and the HS variables and income. There was also no significant difference between EI scores for men and women. After a linear regression analysis, age and abstract reasoning were shown to be predictors of emotional perception and linguistic intelligence and abstract reasoning were shown to be predictors of emotional understanding. Results from the second study only showed significant differences between professional areas for abstract reasoning in BPR-5 scores; the affective-sexual approach and social resourcefulness, both IHS2-Del-Prette, factors; engineers/technical professionals had the best scores. There was a significant difference between EI scores from leaders and non-leaders. However, professionals in non-leadership jobs had higher scores than leaders, unlike the results found for assertive conversation, a factor in IHS2-Del-Prette in which leaders did better. Research results contributed to show the validity of EI in applied research, since it provided data for a better understanding of how EI is related to HS, how family income is related to EI, and how EI, HS and G are present and how they differ between leaders and non-leaders and among professionals in different work areas.

In the aging process an organic functional decrease occurs. Ultraviolet Radiation (UVR), from the sun, is its main etiological agent. Cellular and structural changes arise as a consequence of the association between UVR and chronological aging. Experimental research on aging should be developed from parameters that separate the characteristics of photoaging from chronological aging and the search for animal models with a tegument structure analogous to that of humans. Different strategies are used for the prevention and treatment of photoaging. The phytochemical analysis of many plants used for this purpose has been shown to contain substances that have important antioxidant effects in the prevention and treatment of photoaging. Photobiomodulation (PBM) is widely indicated in the treatment of photoaging and has been used in different intensities to stimulate or inhibit cellular processes and to facilitate the absorption of substances used as protectors against cell damage. The molecular effects of cellular photobiomodulation therapy have not yet been fully demonstrated and there is a need for further studies that elucidate these mechanisms and understand the beneficial effects of this therapy, including the photoaging process. Thus, the purpose of this study is to investigate and contribute to the elucidation of the isolated and associated action of red laser and Lycium barbarum fruit extract in the prevention and treatment of induced photoaging in the dorsal skin of hairless mice, by identifying the main components of a polysaccharide fraction isolated from the extract of the fruit of Lycium barbarum (LBP fraction) by nuclear magnetic resonance and the techniques of histology, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence for qualitative and quantitative analysis of skin components. The results revealed that the bioactive molecules of the LBP fraction have antioxidant and permeation potential in the skin. The treatments performed with the LBP fraction and photobiomodulation during photoaging induction were effective in protecting the skin from epidermal thickening in all experimental groups and degradation of collagen fibers, except for the group that was first treated with LBP fraction and then with the red laser. The treatments were not able to reduce the levels of MMPs in the skin of hairless mice induced by UVR. On the other hand, treatments performed after UVR-induced photodamage decreased epidermal thickening, c-Fos and c-Jun (AP-1) levels and MMP-1, 2 and 9 expression levels on the dorsal skin of the hairless mice of all experimental groups. The group that was treated first with the photobiomodulation and then with the LBP fraction showed an increase of the levels of collagen I, III and FGF2, suggesting a synergism in this order of application. The results suggest the possible use of the LBP fraction in cosmetic formulations due to its antioxidant and permeation potential and its use in association with red laser for the purpose of skin photorejuvenation treatment in aesthetic procedures.
