In view of legal requirements that aim at improving quality of cost information by all federal departments and the complexity of calculating costs in public institutions, the present study investigated process of structuring cost information in the School Health Unit (SHU) of Federal University of São Carlos, the costing investigation process and the utilization, or not, of information systems in the scope of the university. The research is characterized by the integration of quantitative and qualitative information, in the form of a case study - according to the objectives it is classified as descriptive and exploratory. The multiple sources of evidence used for data collection enabled the identification and mapping of items consumed directly and indirectly by SHU, and according to the cost structure by absorption, the general unit costs were calculated. Using database information’s, the full financial cost of SHU was calculated and the representativity of each item and its group was identified, evidencing the participation of information systems used by the institution in the construction of cost information. It was found that the existing costs in the SHU are predominantly permanent, where the prevalence of certain groups of expenses was verified. The cost of the expense groups, salaries, personnel benefits and social taxes, represents almost 80% of the total cost in SHU. Permanent costs bring limitations to managers at any level of decision, because oftenly, they cannot be avoided and because they are costs related to legal obligations, as is the case of costs with effective servers. Regarding the information systems in the calculation of cost, it was verified that the generation of cost information for the object in study was only possible with the predominant use of manual control, once that most of informations was provided by Excel spreadsheets, which directly affects the reliability and quality of informations. Existing data in the information systems used by the University require adaptations and systemic integrations to then, offer cost information at the departmental level.

InfoMinerva: interface do usuário para sistemas de software do domínio de patrimônio histórico
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018-12-20) Moura, Milene Rosa de Almeida; Nakagawa, Elisa Yumi; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7494142007764616; Costa, Luzia Sigoli Fernandes; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8110248272001369; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0869511912072207
The patrimonial assets of the historic farms from São Paulo are rich sources of knowledge, impregnated with symbolic values, and represent the trajectory of the constituted power over time and the process of society. In order to facilitate the access to these assets, some public policy projects funded by FAPESP were developed: "Virtual Memory of São Carlos" (2004- 2008), "Cultural Patrimony of the State of São Paulo: Privileged Space for Research, Education and Tourism "(2008-2012) and" Criteria and methodologies for conducting an inventory of the rural cultural patrimony of São Paulo "(2012-2014). These projects resulted in two important products: the Information Description Standard, which allows the exhaustive cataloging of any type of property, and the Virtual Memory system, a web system composed of two subsystems, one for cataloging and one for access and navigation. The purpose of the present work is to create a prototype of a semi-functional interface for user, called InfoMinerva, to access data contained in the Virtual Memory web system, considering the premises of authors of the field of human-computer interaction. The target public considered to use the interface is composed of researchers and interested in patrimonial assets, not being prerequisite high level of knowledge in computer science. The study, initially exploratory, reviewed the literature on themes: historical patrimony, historical heritage in digital environments, human-computer interaction, quality and interaction criteria and principles, guidelines and heuristics aimed at the development of interfaces. By nature it is an applied research for proposing a solution for the availability of assets through the internet, relying on the prototyping technique. The first prototype, of low fidelity, was created on paper, which established the main elements of the interface, except colors, shapes, fonts, and the expected behavior at the time of interaction with the user. The evaluation of this stage took place in a formative way, through the guidelines of Nielsen and Tahir, making possible the correction of possible faults before the development of the interface in digital media. The second prototype, of high fidelity and semi-functional structure, was made using the Wix site creation platform, in which the elements designed in the first stage were applied, including colors, shapes and fonts. This step was evaluated through mixed questionnaires, adapted from the Questionnaire for user interaction satisfaction, and delivered to two groups of users: the first, made up of information professionals, information technology professionals and professionals in the area of historical heritage, and the second, of potential users. The analysis of the questionnaires, using statistical techniques (Likert scale, arithmetic mean, fashion, sample variance, standard deviation and Cronbach's alpha), showed that the general objective of the research was achieved, and the necessary interventions are mainly related to accessibility and responsive design.

The segmentation of the hippocampus in Magnetic Resonance images is an important procedure in the Alzheimer’s disease early diagnostic aid. The neuroradiologist frequently needs, in addition to the atrophy analysis, to know the volume of the hippocampus for an accurate diagnosis or even perform the monitoring of some treatment. However, the segmentation of the hippocampus performed manually by a specialist is time-consuming and subject to the inter- and intra-operator variability of the measures, for this reason, methods for automatic segmentation has been an object of study for the scientific community. Among the several proposed methods, those using anatomical atlases and deformable models present better results. These two types of techniques easily embedding the format of the models in the segmentation process, but are highly dependent on the initial positioning of the models. In this work we used 3D salient points, detected in MR images using the 3D Scale-Invariant Feature Transform (3D-SIFT), for the positioning of deformable geometric models, representative of the hippocampus. The results indicate an 11% improvement over the exclusive use of affine transformation, 30% over 3D-SIFT without any modifications and 7% over non-weighted positioning.

The Internet of Things allowed the creation of a set of computer systems embedded in everyday objects such as clothes, toys and home appliances. Some of these systems are not just for use but offer possibilities for customization through programming. However, especially for specific audiences, such as small children (4 to 6 years), this universe of differentiated interactions, in which different intelligent devices with particular specifications coexist, may require greater cognitive effort, making it difficult to use programming functionalities. In this scenario, this work presents an interaction model to guide the provision of programming devices for children. For the construction of this model, specified and represented in the Stamper´s Semiotic Ladder, a state-of-the-art survey was performed on the programming of physical devices by infants in early childhood and a case study using Participatory Design techniques with the participation of children between 4 and 6 years old. A feasibility study conducted with a paper-based prototype indicated that children can control devices from programming environments built following the model.

Non-specific chronic low back pain (NSCLBP) is considered one of the main complaints reported by the older people, leading to disability and decreased functional performance. The literature describes Pain Neuroscience Education (PNE) as an effective tool to modify beliefs and attitudes towards chronic pain, reducing kinesiophobia, pain intensity and disability when associated with exercises therapies. In the older people, Pilates Method (PM) exercises have been associated with improved kinesiophobia, pain intensity, disability, flexibility and balance. However, the effect of PNE associated with an exercise protocol in the older people is not yet known. Thus, this dissertation aimed to verify the efficacy of PNE associated with PM, compared to the PM, in kinesiophobia, pain intensity, flexibility, physical performance, mobility, functional balance and muscular electrical activity of the trunk extensor muscles in the older people with NSCLBP. Therefore, three studies were carried out. Study 1: "Effects of Pain Neuroscience Education associated to Pilates on kinesiophobia for older people with nonspecific chronic low back pain: protocol for a randomized controlled clinical trial". Objective: To describe the protocol used in a blinded randomized clinical trial, designed to combine PNE with PM as interventions for the treatment of NSCLBP in the elderly. METHODS: Eighty older people were randomly assigned to 2 groups (Education and Pilates Group - GEP and Pilates Group - GP), 40 people per group. Initially the GEP participated in 3 individual PNE sessions and then, the two groups participated in 16 Mat Pilates classes. A blind investigator evaluated kinesiophobia, pain intensity, flexibility, mobility and functional balance, physical performance and the electrical activity of the trunk extensor muscles before and after the interventions. Study 2: "The Effects of Pain Neuroscience Education and Pilates on Kinesiophobia in the older people with Non-Specific Chronic Low Back Pain: Randomized Controlled Clinical Study." Objective: To verify the efficacy of PNE associated to PM, compared to PM only, in improving kinesiophobia, pain intensity, flexibility, physical performance, mobility and functional balance of older people with NSCLBP. Results: There was no significant difference between groups in the studied variables. Conclusion: PNE was not effective in adding positive effects to PM practice in older people patients with NSCLBP, but it was effective in helping older people patients to adhere to exercise treatment. Study 3: "The Influence of Pain Neuroscience Education and Pilates on the muscular electrical activity of the older people with non-specific chronic low back pain". Objective: to evaluate if the PNE intervention associated with the PM exercises can alter the electrical activity of the trunk extensor muscles in functional tasks in the older people with NSCLBP. Results: there was a statistical difference between the groups, with a decrease in the electrical activity of the GEP after the intervention in the task of reaching in the amplitude and peak of the right longissimus muscle and amplitude of the left iliocostalis muscle. Conclusion: The association of END to PM exercises decreased the electrical activity of the right longissimus and left iliocostalis muscles, with maintenance in the performance in the reach task.

As figurações do pária: sujeitos (in)visíveis em contos de João Melo
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2018-12-20) Silva, Paloma Argemira da; Laks, Daniel Marinho; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9531610287211600; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0204628053153548
This research aims to analyze some stories by the Angolan fiction writer João Melo, focusing on (in)visible subjects included in the pariah category (VARIKAS, 2014). Being one of the singular cases in the African Literature of Portuguese Language, the writer published poetic works and has been emphasizing like a representative author of short stories, with plots related to social conflicts, as well as the ones of gender, besides weaving a critical reflection on political and historical aspects of Angola. The research will focus on the following short stories ―O discurso da beleza‖, ―O criador e a criatura‖ and ―Maria‖. We are interested in investigating in the texts the aspects of the fictional representation of essentially politicalsocial themes, such as the clash with chauvinism, violence and the lack of identity of the country, generating suffering and conflicts. Throughout the analyzes, we will try to verify to what extent these aspects contribute to the identity construction of the Angolan subject.
