The Cerrado, synonym of resistance and resilience, is losing abruptly space in our society where economic interests “speaks louder”. Even knowing of their enormous biodiversity, of endemic species, importance in relation to the maintenance of water, is not enough to conserver this domain, that has been devastated by human activities such as agriculture and livestock. The existence of a Cerrado area inside a university and having as a neighbour the illustrious Parque Ecológico de São Carlos (PESC), a zoo focused on Brazilian and South American fauna, makes this research promotes the visibility of spaces with enormous potential for visitation and scientific research. Based on the problematic and importance of developing this project, the proposed objectives were the elaboration and implementation, in a participatory way, of a monitored visit roadmappassing through an area of Cerrado at the university and the Parque Ecológico de São Carlos, promoting reflections about the in situ and ex situ conservation. The methodology used was a qualitative approach, based on critical ambiental education and the systematization of experiences, that promoted the effective participation of those involved, as well as reflection and critical interpretation on all the processes and elements present in the experience. The investigation occurred in four moments: Moment I: an initial diagnostic was made to identify reasons why people go to the Cerrado and the PESC, as well as previous knowledge about the Cerrado and zoos. Moment II: interviews and a participative workshop was made with monitors were held to define the themes to be addressed and the route of the roadmap. Moment III: elaboration of the roadmap based on data previously collected and definition of the best route after two pilot visits. Moment IV: disclosure of three visits to this new roadmap. In the visits to the Cerrado-PESC we applied pre and post-visit questionnaires to understand the profile of the visiting public, their expectations, previous knowledge about the Cerrado, zoos and conservation, as well as suggestions and criticism of the activities performed. In Moment I, 162 questionnaires were collected, which revealed great curiosity of people to know the Cerrado and knowing more about it, the visiting public of PESC comes to him for leisure, family outing; the answers obtained helped in the reflection of the activities and elaboration of the roadmap. In Moment II interviews were obtained with seven monitors, identifying previous knowledge about the Cerrado, zoos and the possibility of a roadmap integrating the two spaces and a participatory workshop to build a roadmap proposal. Moment III: there were two pilot visits to define the best route and topics addressed and, finally in the Moment IV visits were made by the Cerrado-PESC roadmap, with the participation of 41 people, who demonstrated through the questionnaire, the contentment regarding the visit, to the topics addressed. The moments, experiences were very important and the elaborated roadmap can and should be modified in relation to the themes, the way itself, promoting visits to diverse publics, because it is essential that reflections and improvements of practice occur. We hope that the research carried out could contribute to a better understanding of integrated conservation and the appreciation of both environments by its visitors.

This dissertation has as theme the issue of female education at the First Republic, in Sorocaba/SP, based on the publications present in the newspaper O Operário (1909-1913), especially those that were signed by women. The problem that oriented this investigation questioned the different biases presents in this publications made by them. For this purpose, the qualitative and documental-bibliographical types of research were used, and the facsimile version of the newspaper was consulted. O Operário was a bi-weekly newspaper aimed at the working class to give them "a voice". Open to diverse participation, it counted with publications of men and women, some of them dealing with the issues of education and being based on distinct ethical-political paradigms. In a Sorocaba that, on the one hand, had an elite excited by the modernization of the "Manchester Paulista" and, on the other hand, with an working class formed mostly by immigrants, subject to the most diverse adversities, O Operário covered voices that looked at education, both by the rational-scientific (positivist) bias and by the rational-libertarian (anarchist) bias. Therefore, the aim of the research was to analyze the approximations and distances between these two paradigms, based on the publications present in the newspaper that concern the issue of female education.

Stainless steels are recognized as good materials to be used in corrosive environments, but their wear resistance does not exhibit good results. Therefore, researches have been developed to increase the wear resistance of stainless steels by the addition of boron. Significant improvements in wear resistance were obtained by the addition of boron in the supermartensitic stainless steels processed by spray forming due to the formation of hard M2B borides in the microstructure. This work has the objective the production of HVOF (High Velocity Oxygen Fuel) coatings of the modified supermatensitic steel with 0.7% wt. of boron (SM-14Cr-0.7B), its microstructural characterization and evaluation of the wear properties. The coatings were produced manually using powders in two distinct particle sizes, 0-20 μm and 20-53 μm. The powders and coatings were characterized by optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD). The two particle sizes presented microstructures composed of martensite, retained austenite and M2B type borides. The coating obtained with powders of 20-53 μm granulometry presented in its microstructure a small amount of oxides and borides of type M2B in two forms: coarser borides in the form of a three-dimensional network interconnected; and in the form of spherical precipitates of the order of 100 nm or less distributed within the martensitic matrix. The coating obtained by the powders of 0-20 μm granulometry presented a low average thickness and a high amount of oxides. The wear rate obtained by the pin-on-disc test for the SM-14Cr-0.7B coating processed by HVOF using the powders of particle size 20-53 μm was approximately one order of magnitude lower than that obtained for AISI 1010 steel and unmodified supermartensitic steel.

The decision-making process within political parties is one of the most recurrent themes in the debate on the institutionalization of the party system. In this sense, the objective of this research is to analyze the organizational transformations of the Christian Social Party - PSC, with emphasis on the internal changes promoted by the party elites and their possible consequences and conflicts, since this party concentrates Catholic and Evangelical Christians, often with conflicting interests. In recent years, throughout Latin America it is possible to observe the reemergence of conservative forces in the political scenario. On this occasion, in Brazil, evangelicals come to endorse a conservative agenda, equipped with a moralistic discourse in defense of Christian precepts and in favor of the traditional family. Thus, we try to answer the following question: how does the distribution of internal power in the PSC occur, from changes in its leadership? What are the organizational consequences of this change? Our general hypothesis is that from changes of the top leaders, influenced by the external environment, the PSC began to align its political appeal with evangelical Christianity, changing its hunting territory and becoming more conservative. Therefore, the bonds and resources derived from this Christian segment became more important to the party's organizational survival.

(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2019-05-28) Silva, Diego Maciel Blum da; Oliveira Junior, Clovis José Fernandes de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1860421392471635; Piña-Rodrigues, Fatima Conceição Márquez; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1475369713141675; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8043119270310434
Agroecosystems depend and also interfere, positively or negatively, on the different ecosystem services (ES). Understanding its perception is very relevant for the conservation and definition of territorial guidelines, especially in periurban areas that act as buffers between urban and rural zones. The objective of this work was to analyze the perception of ES by farmers located in transition areas between urban and rural zones. The study was conducted in the “Sister Alberta” Commune of the Earth, a pre-settlement established in the capital of São Paulo, with the application of semi-structured interviews with key informants. The most reported ESs were those related to the ecosystem functions of support and culture, and the most cited were “nursery”, “cultural identity”, “food”, “sound regulation”, “aesthetic appreciation” and “air quality”. Sociocultural and spatial context aspects in which they are inserted influenced the perception of ecosystem services. The presence of agroforestry home gardens was the most prominent factor influencing the perception of ecosystem services.

    Panorama de hackathons no Brasil
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2019-05-28) Rodrigues, Renato Tadeu; Guimarães, Márcia Regina Neves; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9250214706491925; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5808450426870203
Open innovation practices promoted by Brazilian companies have gained prominence since the year 2014. This is related to the new dynamics of the world economy, driven mainly by the technological revolution and the popularization of the Internet. Conse-quently, a market is born for digital products like applications, software and hardware. In this scenario, open innovation events, known as hackathons, became popular. The present study has as general objective to analyze the reasons for Brazilian organiza-tions to perform hackathons and to identify what is done with the winning products after the event. Exploratory and of a qualitative nature, the research used case studies to achieve its objectives. We interviewed six companies that promoted hackathon events with different themes, but related to the process of digital innovation, three consultan-cies that work in the organization of hackathon and twenty individuals participating in the marathons on a voluntary basis. Among the main answers, it was observed that the events have as benefits: the improvement of the image of the organization vis-à-vis society and its stakeholder (when confronting respondents' answers); supporting the development of an organizational culture focused on innovation and the retention of new creative collaborators. Participants cite as advantages, the expansion of the network of relationships with companies and other hackathon agents, the exchange of skills and the possibility of contributing to social causes. One of the difficulties pointed out is the lack or direction of support for the implementation of the projects, since there is no post-hackathon. There are relatively few winning projects properly implemented after the event, as the researcher observed in the search for cases to illustrate the projects that continued. Problems related to infrastructure, intellectual property and the organization of marathons have also been reported.
