These policies, often engendered by imperatives of national development, are not always congruent with the singularities of these peoples. This paper proposes an anthropological research about the situation found among the Xavante indigenous people, in which the construction of housing promoted by political programs like PNHR and MCMV causes a lot of criticism and questioning by part of the supposed benefited ones, putting in evidence a complex entanglement of relations that are produced from the Xavante modes of inhabiting the enviroment. From an ethnographic case, audiovisual productions and literature review on the Xavante, this research is intended to highlight the multiple relationships established between these people and the myriad of beings who co-inhabit the world, presenting as houses, bodies and things are related to culture and historical transformations, serving to operationalize reflections about themselves and others.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Influence of surface treatments on corrosion resistance properties of ultrafine grained titanium alloys for biomedical applications(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2019-08-09) Pérez, Diego; Moreira, Alberto; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6360362248108490; Botta Filho, Walter José; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8956458007749112; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8941716347276124Titanium and its alloys are used as biomaterials because their excellent combination of high corrosion resistance, low modulus of elasticity and biocompatibility. However, titanium and its alloys cannot meet all the clinical requirements. In this sense, in order to improve the electrochemical and bioactive properties, this thesis aims to evaluate the effect of the severe plastic deformation as well as the surface modification treatments on the corrosion resistance and bioactivity of titanium alloys (α' + β) and (β). The titanium alloys, Ti13Nb13Zr (α' + β) and Ti35Nb7Zr5Ta (β), were deformed by the high-pressure torsion (HPT) method. Afterward, surface modification treatments, such as the anodization and chemical treatments, were carried out both in samples non-deformed and deformed by HPT. Finally, corrosion and bioactivity tests were performed in simulated body fluid (SBF). The tests were performed on samples with treated surfaces compared with non-treated surfaces in the deformed and undeformed conditions. The samples’ microstructures were analyzed by confocal laser microscopy (CLM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Hardness tests were also performed after the HPT process. On the other hand, surface modification treatments, and the formation of apatite in bioactivity assays were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), with chemical analyzes carried out by dispersive energy spectroscopy (EDS) and phase identification by X-ray diffraction (XRD). In general, the corrosion resistance of the titanium alloys improved with the anodization treatment. Apatite deposits were observed on Ti13Nb13Zr alloy samples, in the conditions non-deformed and deformed by HPT. Beeswax is a biodegradable and hydrophobic substance, mostly composed of esters, hydrocarbons and fatty acids. In this context, the objectives of this work were to reduce the interaction of corn starch films with water through the incorporation of different levels of beeswax and evaluate the surface hydrophobicity and the water vapor permeation properties of these films. The films were obtained via continuous casting to establish a pre-pilot processing scenario. The application of continuous casting to obtain the starch/beeswax films resulted in a productivity, at least, 50 times greater compared to the conventional bench casting reported in the literature. Advanced scanning electron microscopy images showed the immiscibility of the beeswax domains and the starch matrix, sufficient to alter the interaction of light with the films, reducing their transparency and clarity and increasing their opacity. In addition, these domains induced the starch matrix to crystallize even with the reduced crystallinity of the wax in the domains. The interaction between the wax and the starch, suggested by ATR-FTIR, directly influenced the properties of the films. The tensile strength was reduced by 39%, the maximum and at break elongation were reduced by 60% and 58%, respectively, while the elastic modulus increased by 327% with the wax content. Finally, the addition of increasing levels of beeswax increased surface hydrophobicity by 100% and reduced the water vapor permeability of the films by 200%, reaching the goal of making them less susceptible to the effect of moisture.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, O processo de elaboração do luto e as respostas ocupacionais no cotidiano de mães enlutadas(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2019-08-09) Dahdah, Daniel Ferreira; Joaquim, Regina Helena Vitale Torkomian; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7719481657895650; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5331569022443995INTRODUCTION: Bereavement is a process that occurs with the loss, by death, of a significant person. This is a painful experience that leads to the need to adapt to the new situation. Maternal bereavement becomes peculiar because it reverses the expected cycle of life, generating feelings of guilt and shame, accompanied by grief and the feeling of having failed in the role of mother. Occupations change during the bereaved process, as their constituent elements - doing, being, becoming and belonging – are affected, causing a crisis in maternal daily life. AIM: To understand the bereaved mothers’ occupations in their everyday life. METHOD: A cross-sectional, exploratory and qualitative study that used the Oral History technique, in the biographical narrative modality. The inclusion of the participants came from a group of mutual aid and selection, by the “snowball” technique. Ten mothers are included in the study. The data were generated from three collection instruments: field diary, timeline, and semi-structured interview. The results were categorized and analyzed by content analysis using deductive and inductive methods. RESULTS: In the field diary, the main topics addressed in the mutual help group were recorded. The timeline allowed us to visualize the “birthday reactions” and to identify, chronologically, the mothers' experience during the dates associated with bereavement. From the interviews, six categories emerged: The notification of the death of the son; The experience of motherhood before and after the death of the son; The meanings constructed by mothers after the death of their son; The future; Religiosity and spirituality helping to coping with bereavement; and, Occupational responses in the face of changes imposed on the everyday lives of bereaved mothers after the death of their sons. From the results, it was possible to systematize the occupational responses in the daily lives of bereaved mothers. DISCUSSION: Triangulation was used as a methodological strategy to broaden the understanding of the studied phenomenon. Identified that mothers perceived their personal and spiritual growth, found meaning and benefits in loss, did the changes in identity necessary to continue life. Also, they regain familiarity with their surroundings and was able to live authentically in everyday lives, enabling them to felt happy again. The results reaffirmed the bereavement process as a singular and individual experience, however, intensely permeated by social aspects, and mainly related to social and emotional support for coping with the bereavement. The study contributed to the understanding of the process of adaptation to bereavement through the occupational responses in maternal everyday life. Thus, depending on the form, purpose, and meaning of the occupational responses presented after to the death of the son, it was possible to categorize them into adaptive strategies that help the mother to adapt occupationally in everyday life. Besides, they support the reconstruction of meanings in response to bereavement and changes in everyday life and occupations. They also allow revisions about themselves, about desires, priorities, and the continuity of life in the world profoundly modified by the reality of the son's death. CONCLUSION: The occupational therapist, by identifying the elements of the bereavement adaptation process, assists the mothers in the reconstruction of the occupational meanings, in the encounter with the familiarity of the environment and in the accomplishment of the necessary changes for the continuity of life, repositioning in practical and emotional terms the absence of the deceased son in everyday life.
