Hematite (α-Fe2O3) is a very abundant chemical compound in nature, has interesting electrical and magnetic properties, which consequently makes this oxide an advanced functional material. The literature reports that Sn ions segregate in the grains boundaries of hematite, which reduces the potential barrier in this region, facilitating the electronic transport and, consequently, the increased conductivity of this material. This paper proposed a challenge with regard the preparation, the conventional sintering, and the structural, microstructural and electrical properties of this material without and with different nominal additions (1, 2, 5, 6 and 8 % wt.) of SnO2, in order to obtain smaller grain size and larger number of grains boundaries to study the behavior of Sn ions this solid-solid interface. The results obtained in the preparation of the starting materials, Fe2O3 and SnO2, allowed to control the obtaining of nanoparticles with morphology and medium size distribution appropriate to the use of the sintering process that contributed to the segregation of Sn ions in hematite ceramic matrix. The sintered samples showed a gradual decrease in resistance with increasing SnO2 addition. The sintered hematite sample without SnO2 addition did not show significant differences in capacitance results at both low and high frequencies, corresponding to the behavior of grains boundaries and hematite grain, respectively. Compared to the sintered samples, the nominal increase of 2%, 6% and 8% wt. of SnO2 showed an increase of capacitance by 1, 3 and 4 orders of magnitude, respectively, while the gradual increase of SnO2 in the samples of hematite favored the decrease of resistance. These results showed that the current flows through the hematite grain boundary region, the region with the highest conductivity, resulting from the segregation of Sn ions. In combination with the condutive atomic force microscope analysis, it has been shown that it is possible to identify the types of grains boundaries that most influence the electronic transport. The results allowed us to conclude a better understanding of the segregation of Sn ions grains boundaries in the ceramic matrix of hematite.

A socio-historical analysis of social recognition of the youth showed that there is a dispute process for this population to achieve visibility and effective possibilities to exercise citizenship and participate in public life. However, this analysis identified that a significant part of the Brazilian youth, such as the poor youth, still lacks the conditions essential to their social integration. Based on Hannah Arendt’s propositions, there is an inseparable link between the social recognition of a group as a political actor, the realization of its citizenship, and its visibility and inclusion in the public space. Therefore, thinking and acting on the restriction to citizenship of socially vulnerable and invisible individuals or collectives necessarily involve a dialogue with the public space. Based on these principles, this study aimed to identify whether the actions conducted for over a decade by the METUIA/UFSCar team (an inter-institutional group of studies, training and actions in social occupational therapy), in the form of university extension, research, and undergraduate and graduate teaching activities, with poor urban youths specifically through a project developed in a neighborhood in the outskirts of the municipality of São Carlos, state of São Paulo, Brazil, have somehow changed the relationship that these young people have with the public spaces in their neighborhood and city. Based on case studies, along the lines of the Social Sciences, three data collection strategies were articulated: reading and analysis of the studies produced by the METUIA/UFSCar team on the experience in question, participative objectification of the Workshops on activities, dynamics and projects developed in this neighborhood throughout 2017, and interviews with five young people. The data were analyzed and discussed based on the notion of public space developed by Hannah Arendt considering the four elements that she highlighted as essential constituents of the public space: visibility, plurality, equality and freedom. Actions in social occupational therapy shed light on the socially vulnerable population investigated, the poor youth in this case, on its needs and demands, favoring visibility before the municipal government and other generational groups inside and outside its living territory. In addition, through technical and professional work in social occupational therapy, life-sharing spaces have been promoted with the aim of fostering human plurality and sociability, discussing the production of respect for diversity, and coping with situations of inequality and conflicts arising from encounters with difference. Nevertheless, occupational therapy interventions are evidently insufficient to tackle the macro-structural conditions that stand in the way of experimenting with the possibility of enjoying equality and freedom to participate in collective life. In spite of that, it is concluded that social occupational therapy can modify the relationship between youths and the public spaces, including individuals and voices in this scene plurally and with visibility, and that occupational therapists are possible actors in the mediation, articulation and promotion of experiences in public and collective life.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution emerges on a new world scenario in a scope where connectivity and information exchange gain prominence. More than just a set of technological innovations, Industry 4.0 can be considered a revolution because of the abrupt and radical change in the way society lives and interacts. The greatest challenge of this new era is the intelligent use of data, information and knowledge in strategic decision making, whether by machines or by humans. Thus, Information and Knowledge Management must have attention to this context. In this sense, this research is classified as basic nature and presents a quanti-qualitative approach, with the descriptive-exploratory objective of understanding the approximation between Information Management, Knowledge Management and Industry 4.0 research themes. Moreover, it is observed the research trends in Information and Knowledge Management and their adherence to publications on the emerging theme of Industry 4.0. In this sense, it was used bibliometric techniques with the analysis made through the study of descriptors, keywords and abstract. The choice of the Web of Science database made it possible to retrieve, through the descriptors, 10,890 records for the term Knowledge Management, 6,207 records for Information Management and others 3,304 records for the term Industry 4.0. The VOSViewer© and Microsoft Excel were used for processing and visualization of data, such as the creation of collaboration networks and keywords’ maps. Data were analyzed and presented as: the evolution of publications, collaboration networks between countries, the co-occurrence of keywords through maps. Based on this study, it was possible to identify the similarity of terms in the three great themes, as well as approximate their similar terms of study. As future studies, it is suggested the use of other databases and the search for correlated descriptors from the three themes.

In the present study, we review the one-qubit dynamics and we offer a new unifying interpretation of the Landau-Zenner and the Rabi dynamics, by indicating the physical elements responsible for the manifestation of one phenomenon or the other, without the need to define them as separate phenomena. Furthermore, we demonstrate the possibility of electrically implementing quantum gates with high fidelity in two different platforms of quantum dots, with the assistance of the two-point boundary-value quantum control paradigm (TBQCP). In the first platform consisting of a double quantum dot (DQD) embedded in a nanowire, we optimized single qubit pulses corresponding to three quantum gates assuring a fidelity for every gate higher than 0,99. Also we compare the dynamical efficiency of the optimized pulses via the TBQCP method, respect to the other dynamical mechanisms (Rabi and Landau-Zener); and we found that TBQCP can provide pulses that can perform tasks in shorter times. For the second platform consisting of an electrostatical DQD, we implement the quantum permutation algorithm (QPA), which requires the quantum superposition of states with well-defined relative phases. Because of the necessity of using at least a three level system in this algorithm, we use hybrid qubits instead of spin qubits. In order to find the optimal AC electric fields that implement the required quantum gates, we apply the TBQCP method. By employing such method, we were able to determine optimal electric pulses that perform the quantum gates with high fidelity and in times faster than decoherence and relaxation time. Our results demonstrate the possibility of achieving all-electrical universal quantum gates in DQDs by means of optimal quantum control.

Background: Studies have shown that there are changes in functional mobility in both cognitively preserved older adults and with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). However, the understanding of the performance over time of the Timed Up and Go subtasks - a test widely used in research and clinical practice - in these populations is not clear in the literature. Especially, the relationship that these changes over time may be related to the frontal cognitive domains. Objectives: a) to compare the performance of the TUG subtasks over time in older adults with medical diagnosis of MCI and cognitively preserved; b) to analyze the relationship between the frontal cognitive functions of these older adults at the beginning of the study, and the changes in TUG subtasks in 32 months in cognitively preserved and MCI individuals. Participants: At baseline (M1) 80 older adults (40 cognitively preserved and 40 with CCL) were evaluated, after 32 months (M2) 31 older adults (16 cognitively preserved and 15 with CCL) were evaluated. Methods: Subjects were divided in M1 into two groups: MCI and cognitively preserved. At M2 these individuals were contacted again. Functional mobility was evaluated in both moments, M1 and M2, through the adapted version of TUG in conjunction with Qualisys motion analysis system. The TUG was divided into five subtasks: sit-to-stand, walking forward, turn-to-walk, walking back and turn-to-sit. Frontal cognitive functions were assessed in M1 through the Frontal Assessment Battery (FAB) and the Clock Drawing Test (CDT). Results: There was a significant difference between the groups in the TUG sit-to-stand subtask. The MCI Group had a longer time to complete the subtask (p = 0.04) and the cognitively preserved group had a lower peak velocity of the trunk (p = 0.04) and range of motion (p = 0.02) in M2, when compared to M1. There were strong and very strong correlations between frontal cognitive functions and the difference in TUG subtasks, especially those in transition (sit-to-stand, turn-to-walk and turn-to-sit) in both groups. Conclusion: The task of getting up seems to change over time, both in cognitively preserved elderly and in those with MCI. In addition, there is a strong relationship between frontal cognitive functions and transition subtasks in cognitively preserved elderly with MCI.

The finding that national and international studies on women's giftedness are still incipient in light of the universe of research already conducted on human intelligence highlights the inequality in the identification and development of gifted girls and women, as well as internal and external barriers faced by them. From this, the main objective of this study was to identify and analyze the barriers that hinder the identification and development of gifted girls in two different educational contexts, in Brazil and in Spain, and to propose actions to overcome these barriers within the context of conceptualization, identification and educational service of each country. The secondary objectives were: a) contextualize the concepts, strategies of identification and educational assistance to gifted students through case studies of a local program in Brazil and another in Spain; b) identify and analyze the barriers that hinder the diagnosis and development of the potential of girls with giftedness in procedures, mediations and personal experiences; c) reveal how these barriers are addressed by their service management, families and professionals involved. Thus, we conducted a qualitative research with a feminist critical perspective with the Collective Subject Discourse method. We used documentary research and problem-centered interviews as techniques to collect data, considering that the documentary research was based on legal documents that allowed contextualizing the processes of identification and attendance to the gifted students of each investigated locality, besides the statistical data regarding the enrollment of male and female students with iftedness. The interviews were analyzed following the methodological proposal of the Collective Subject Discourse and the results of the analyzes were organized in two Case Studies: one related to the study conducted in a city of the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain; and one related to a study conducted in a city in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Thus, 7 female students (8 to 16 years) from Spain and 7 female students (11 to 18 years) from Brazil were the main participants in the study. The results showed that in both Brazil and Spain, the national average of formally identified girls with giftedness is lower than the number of boys, and in the Spanish city, the proportion of girls is higher than the national average, but even lower that the average of boys; and in the Brazilian city, the proportion of girls is higher than the proportion of boys. The analysis of interviews with girls with giftedness in Brazil and Spain, pointed to the existence of the following gender bias as the main barriers to the identification and development of their potential: the need to be or look perfect, the impostor syndrome, the willingness to help or care, and the complacent leadership model. In this sense, access to specific care programs for the development of giftedness, motivation in the educational and family environment, the existence of mentors and women who are models of potential realization, are fundamental factors for the confrontation of gender bias.

There is a discussion in the literature about the benefits that the regional diversity can result in the companies' productivity due to knowledge recombination, which allows greater opportunities to imitate, share and recombine ideas. However, few studies have been conducted in developing economies. This study aims to analyze the effects of the regional related variety (an indicator that captures the complementarity between sectors) on the companies' productivity. Also, we intend to verify whether the absorptive capacity is a significant moderator in this process and its thresholds. For the empirical study, a database containing data on 80 Brazilian municipalities and 194 companies was used, with data between 2010 and 2014. By calculating the related variety indicator to measure regional diversity and threshold regressions to measure absorptive capacity, this research contributes to the literature, given that empirical studies on this subject in Brazil are still limited. Besides, as the country has a diversified economy, we believe in recombination as an option for economic growth. The results indicate that the related variety has no significant effect on productivity when analyzed alone, but when moderated by the absorptive capacity it has a positive effect.

Over the past few years, organizations have sought to integrate the different aspects of sustainability into their business by addressing environmental, social and economic issues more effectively. An efficient way to implement sustainability in operations can be through the sustainable management of your supply chains. Sustainable supply chains, however, are exposed to a number of risks, such as unsustainable supplier behavior, characterization of a bad public image, workplace accidents, environmental contamination, reputational and image loss, among other issues that may negatively affect your performance. The relationship between the sustainable supply chain and risk management has been pointed by several authors as a conducive area for research. Thus, aiming to fill the gap on the joint theme, the aim of this study is to build a model for sustainable supply chain risk management. To build the theoretical framework, a systematic literature review with 150 articles was performed. Eleven risk source categories were created and 69 risk types were found, in addition to surveying 28 types of mitigation strategies in 4 categories. From an empirical point of view, a unique Case Study was conducted in conjunction with the Critical Incident Technique in a beverage industry. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 18 respondents from the organization and the information obtained was treated through Content Analysis in the QSR Nvivo 11 software. The results presented discuss the types of risks found that were transportation, laws, standards and regulations, supplies and environment. It was also noted that the organization assesses risk based on the probability and impact criteria. The case study made it possible to survey 51 types of mitigation strategies that were allocated into 22 categories. The organization also develops risk learning by highlighting the key lessons learned in the event of a completed occurrence. Finally, an expanded theoretical-empirical model has been built that enables supply chains to become increasingly sustainable as they have a risk management orientation, thus achieving a number of benefits such as increased preparedness and reduced risk. vulnerability.

For many centuries there were different definitions of what glass would be, this discussion persists to current days. Is glass a solid or liquid material? In this work, we answer this question through computational simulations of the main properties of the crystalline solid, liquid and glass materials, comparing its behavior and results. We studied four types of materials models, silicon (Si), zirconium (Zr), silica (SiO 2 ) and alloy of Zr 50 Cu 50 . We have shown that there is a physical change in the process of between the supercooled liquid and the glass, which relates the high viscosity that the glass has with the relaxation time. Based on our results, we affirm that glass does not is a solid nor a liquid, it is a state of matter unique and we create a new definition for it: Glass, within a human time scale, is a physical states of matter with a globally amorphous structure, containing nuclei organized at medium atomic distances throughout the material. It has a temperature called the glass transition, where ergodicity is broken kinetically. Below this temperature, the relaxation time and viscosity increase infinitely, giving the material mechanical rigidity. This state of matter is not thermodynamically stable, which causes it to relax spontaneously over time, with the crystal as its final destination over a very large time limit.

Meat quality and mineral composition are complex traits genetically regulated. Growing evidence suggests that minerals play a central role in regulatory and physiological functions related to meat tenderness and fat deposition in cattle. Furthermore, miRNAs and genes have been identified as potential regulators of these traits. However, there is a lack of knowledge regarding the interplay among miRNA-gene expression-mineral metabolism in cattle. Thus, to explore regulatory pathways, candidate genes and miRNAs, and their relationships to muscle and mineral metabolism in Nelore steers, we integrated gene and miRNA expression data, eQTLs, mineral content, and meat quality traits based on coexpression networks. To this end, the muscle genome-wide expression profiles of mRNAs (n = 200) and miRNAs (n = 50), obtained by RNA-Seq, were used separately to construct co-expression networks using the WGCNA (Weighted gene co-expression network analysis) R package. Phenotypic data of macro (Ca, K, Mg, Na, P, S) and micro minerals (Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Se, Zn), as well as meat quality (intramuscular fat, meat pH, and tenderness) were also integrated to identify gene/miRNAs modules associated to these traits. By clustering 11,996 genes and 343 miRNAs, we identified, based on a linear model, 15 and nine modules, respectively, associated with at least one trait (p < 0.05). We identified 82 potential candidate genes based on the module-phenotype association analysis. From the functional analysis, we identified as over-represented biological pathways related to energy and protein metabolism, such as AMPK, mTOR, insulin, and thyroid hormone. We also integrated the gene and miRNA modules, and pointed out 1,815 unique genes targets of 41 miRNAs. Among the minerals, Ca and Fe were strongly regulated, mainly by the miR-29 family. In addition to the pathways previously mentioned, the target genes functional over-representation analysis highlighted signaling pathways such as hypoxia-inducible factor 1, ferroptosis, and p53. Key genes involved in Fe homeostasis, such as transferrin receptor (TFRC), iron responsive element binding protein 2 (IREB2), and transferrin (TF) were identified, as well as those underlying lipid metabolism. Overall, there is a complex relationship between meat quality and mineral metabolism, as well as the fundamental role of miRNAs regulating target genes. Further studies are needed to investigate the effect of different levels of mineral supplementation in gene expression and meat quality traits.

Pesticides have been continuously applied in agriculture to control insects considered agricultural pests which increases the likelihood of these products reaching the aquatic environment and affecting the biota, including fish. The present study is of great ecological importance because it evaluated the histopathological lesions and the gills and liver of curimbatá, Prochilodus lineatus (Pisces, Prochilodontidae) after 24 and 96 hours of exposure to increasing concentrations (0, 0,1, 1, 10, 100 and 1000 µg L-1) of the new metallo-insecticide [Mg(hesp)2(phen)] a Mg complex with hesperidin and phenanthroline as a chelating agent called MgHP. In the gills, the most frequent alterations were cell atrophy in the filament epithelium and lamellae, constriction / rupture / dilatation of the marginal canal of the pillar cells, lamellar epithelium hyperplasia, which occurred more frequently after exposure to 100 and 1000 µg. L-1 of MgHP. Gill change index (Iorg) increased significantly after 24 h exposure from 10 to 1000 µg L-1 MgHP and after 96 h exposure to 100 and 1000 µg L-1 MgHP. Chloride (CC) cell proliferation occurred after 96 h of exposure to 100 and 1000 µg L-1 MgHP and was more frequent in the filament epithelium. In the liver, changes in cellular structure were observed, such as hypertrophy, cytoplasmic degeneration and the appearance of intracellular cytoplasmic substances. They were more common and significant at concentrations of 100 and 1000 µg L-1 MgHP in both exposure periods (24 and 96 h). Liver Iorg increased significantly after 24 h exposure at 100 and 1000 µg L-1 MgHP concentrations and after 96 h exposure at 10, 100 and 1000 µg L-1 MgHP concentrations. The data obtained suggest that these lesions may affect the organ structure, altering the physiological functions of the exposed organism and revealed different sensitivity of the gills in relation to the liver. The gills were more sensitive in the first hours of contact with MgHP and showed recovery of gill tissue after 96 h while the liver showed greater changes after 96 h of exposure. Regarding WC, MgHP affected the density of these cells after 24 h, as a reduction was observed, which could cause a transient electrolyte imbalance. On the other hand, an increase in CC density after 96 h suggests a possible compensatory response in order to maintain the ionic balance of the animal. In general, MgHP is not toxic to P. lineatus at low concentrations, such as 0,1 and 1 µg L-1 MgHP, but is potentially toxic at very high concentrations such as 100 and 1000 µg L-1.

Colorectal cancer is the third most diagnosed malignant disease and the fourth leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the world. Cancer treatments are not fully effective and low selectivity to tumor tissue has marked side effects, so there is a high importance of studies that seek new alternatives for the treatment of this disease. In this work we use an attenuated strain of Salmonella as a live bacterial vector, which prefers to invade the tumor microenvironment and can produce heterologous proteins with immunotherapeutic potential. The objectives were to develop plasmids and insert them into the attenuated Salmonella SL3261, containing the genes that encode tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) and Interleukin 2 (IL-2); and evaluate, in vitro and in vivo, the antitumor potential of these strains in colorectal tumor (HCT-8 strain). Confirmation of protein construction and expression was done by electrophoresis, Western Blot and ELISA, with anti-TRAIL and anti-IL-2 monoclonal antibodies. The effect on HCT-8 was determined by the cytotoxicity test (MTT), Griess reaction and apoptosis assay (Annexin V). To analyze tumor progression in vivo, mice received tumor cells and, after tumor implantation, were treated with the constructed strains. Tumor size was calculated every three days and tumor weight was determined after euthanasia. The results demonstrated that the expression vector construction was effective and the proteins were expressed by SL3261. In vitro tests showed decreased viability and increased cell death in groups treated with SL3261_TRAIL and SL3261_IL-2 when compared to control groups, and nitric oxide production. Regarding the in vivo tests, the SL3261, SL3261_TRAIL and SL3261_MIX (TRAIL + IL-2) treatments showed antitumor effect in this model, since they presented decreased tumors compared to the untreated control 14 days after treatment. Thus, it is suggested that TRAIL and IL-2, expressed by SL3261, have antitumor effect in the colorectal cancer model, proposing a possible immunotherapy against this type of tumor.

This research is based on anthropological analysis of high performance athletes linked to a military program to encourage national representative sports, the so-called military athletes. This is the High Performance Athletes Program, signed through an agreement between the Ministries of Sport and Defense, with the objective of incorporating top athletes in the Armed Forces to compete in national and international sports competitions. For this, I gathered information on the official websites of the Ministries, the Olympic Committee, the Armed Forces, among others, through materials and documents about the program available in them. In addition, I attended Pinheiros Sport Club, which, being a private and paisano sports club, has in its staff a considerable number of military athletes, previously belonging to the club; professional ties, in this case, are not exclusive. Finally, I conducted interviews with military athletes in order to produce primary data for the proposed ethnography, in addition to observation and description. The objective was to verify how sporting and militarization processes occur side by side in this interface between sport and barracks, which keep a strong historical relationship, through notions such as the construction of the body and the sportive-military person in these professional careers, mobilizing athletes, clubs, federations, committees, government and the military in the composition and political management of a national sports system.

This graduation conclusion work comes from scientific initiation research that proposed to contribute to the expansion of knowledge and construction of suicide prevention strategies at the Federal University of São Carlos. Qualitative study with a) literature review for contextualization and referential analysis of suicide in young university populations, considering the production, in Portuguese, from 2013 to 2018, in the BVS and PAHO databases; b) action research in the perspective of dynamically studying the process of shared knowledge construction and identifying potential actions or difficulties related to the theme in the community. In 2019, eleven weekly group meetings of two hours each were held with the academic community: administrative technicians, students and college professors; all meetings were recorded through a synthesis-narrative validated by the group of participants. The analysis of the results was systematized by the method of data triangulation, with cross-referencing of empirical data, dialogue with the different authors and analysis of the conjuncture. The bibliographic review resulted in 14 texts, analyzed from the thematic categories: data on suicide among young people, risk and vulnerability; taboos and myths; protective factors; current political context of public health care. The data showed a scarcity of studies and materials aimed at analysis and reflection on suicide prevention aimed at college students. The transition period to university carries a dynamic of transformations and impacts in the personal, social, academic and family spheres, predisposing this population to experience mental health problems in the process of suicidal ideation. Thirteen people participated in the action research, in stages of discussion on the topic, identification of local risks and vulnerabilities, planning and action in the square with the community. The lack of support networks, of living spaces, the hierarchy of power relations, the demands experienced in the academic environment were identified by the group as situations of local vulnerability. Factors of family dynamics and interpersonal relationships, the constant overload of tasks in the student routine, socioeconomic vulnerability and the contingency of institutional budget funds were considered as possible aggravating factors in mental health in this population. Integrative care practices, sports, cultural and social movements were identified as devices that promote socialization and protection of this population. The final action in a square, carried out in the context of this research, provided reception and awareness of the theme through the articulation of different actors and social sectors to make the event viable. The collective process provided the creation of an involved group, expansion of knowledge on the subject and on how to offer shelter to those who suffer, survey of possible strategies, and operationalization of a suicide prevention action with the college community.

In this work, Biosilicate scaffolds were synthesized using the foam replica technique. Biosilicate is highly bioactive, biodegradable, antibacterial, and non-toxic. Despite of these properties, Biosilicate scaffolds present low mechanical strength, limiting their clinical applications. Therefore, our aim was to increase the mechanical properties of the Biosilicate scaffolds by several F18 glass coatings. First, the Ryshkewitch and Ashby & Gibson models were used to calculate the maximum theoretical compressive strength of the scaffolds in function of their porosity, taking into account the ideal conditions found in the literature. Biosilicate scaffolds were prepared through the foam replica technique; then, they were coated several times with F18 Bioglass slurry to eliminate their defects and reinforce their structures. The scaffolds were characterized by microstructure, total porosity, average cell size, and compressive strength. The material exhibited a total porosity of 82%, an average cell size of 525 μm, and compressive strength of 3.3 (± 0.3) MPa, values in the range of commercial scaffolds based on Hydroxiapatite and β-TCP. Scanning Electron Microscopy showed that F18 bioglass helped to remove surface defects and partially infiltrated the hollow Biosilicate-struts, increasing significantly the resistance of the material. Also, in vitro osteogenic differentiation of human Adipose-derived mesenchymal Stem Cells (hASCs) was evaluated using F18 glass-coated Biosilicate scaffolds and their ionic dissolution products. Gene expression profiles of cells were evaluated using the RT2 Profiler PCR microarray on day 21. Mineralizing tissue-associated proteins and osteogenic differentiation factor expressions were measured using Q-PCR. Additionally, alkaline phosphatase enzyme production and extracellular matrix mineralization were evaluated. The alkaline phosphatase activity, mineralization and bone-related gene expression of hASCs were significantly enhanced upon stimulation with both scaffolds and their ionic extracts. This work evidenced that F18 glass-coated Biosilicate scaffolds have a high potential for dental applications.

Cancer is among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the world. Specifically, breast cancer is an extremely heterogeneous disease, being composed of different subtypes and this heterogeneity makes treatment difficult, since each disease subtype has specific characteristics and requires differentiated treatment. Despite progress in the field of molecular and cellular biology, the development of new antitumor drugs is still a major challenge, as many drugs currently used are not selective for tumor cells, making the treatment difficult and causing unwanted and adverse effects on patients. Metal complexes are being used as an alternative for cancer treatment and several other diseases, and ruthenium complexes have been gaining prominence for cancer treatment due to their unique characteristics and important results. The aim of the present work was to select among different molecules a new ruthenium complex, which would be the candidate for an antitumor drug and to evaluate the effects of the selected complex through in vitro studies on breast cells in two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional cell culture (3D) and in vivo toxicity and genotoxicity studies. The results demonstrated that the complex Ru(ThySMet) was the most active against MDA-MB-231 breast tumor cells among the three complexes after 24 h incubation and in in vitro 2D tests induced cytotoxicity, inhibited invasion, adhesion, morphology and apoptosis-induced alteration, DNA damage and nuclear fragmentation of MDA-MB-231 tumor cells in lower concentrations compared to MCF-10A non-tumor cells, suggesting the selective action of this complex for tumor cells. In vitro 3D experiments with 24 h incubation with the complex Ru(ThySMet) also show higher cytotoxicity to T4-2 and MDA-MB-231 tumor cells compared to S1 and MCF-10A non-tumoral breast cells and induced apoptosis in different culture models and DNA damage. Also, the complex reverses the malignant phenotype of T4-2 breast cancer cells due to a suppression of substances related to this process, such as EGFR, p50 NFκB and β1 integrin. In vivo, the complex Ru(ThySMet) does not cause toxicity and caused DNA damage only at the highest dose administered. An analysis of the effect of the complex Ru(ThySMet) synthesized on a microemulsion nanostructured system on different breast cells, MDA-MB-231, MCF-10A and 4T1.13ch5T1 and on Balb/C 3T3 fibroblasts, exhibited that with 48 h of incubation there was an increase in selectivity of this new complex and also that this complex was able to alter the morphology and inhibit cell migration of tumor cells with more specificity than non-tumor cells, but its mechanism of action was altered causing cells to die from necrosis rather than apoptosis. Taken together, the results indicate that the complex Ru(ThySMet) has potential for breast cancer therapy and ¬¬further studies should be conducted to prove this potential.

According to Saeb data (assessment used by the federal government to measure student learning at the end of each stage), most Brazilian students do not achieve results considered sufficient when referring to mathematics teaching, considering that it is sufficient to perform operation with natural numbers or recognizing function graphs, who knows that these students have a minimal understanding of algebra. Therefore, the work foresees the study of a model for teaching algebra that became known in Singapore, which obtained excellent results in international exams. In addition, the work has the resolution of 7 problems, using the Singapore model together with the Problem Solving which aims at four steps that were proposed by Polya, they are: Understanding the Problem, Establishing a Plan, Implementing the Plan and Retrospect. These two methodologies aim to serve as a basis for mathematics teachers in algebra teaching. The paper also presents a brief understanding of the transition process from arithmetic to algebra, recognizing that understanding this process facilitates the teacher to find the difficulties of students. During the resolution of each problem, we tried to create, in some points, dialogues between teacher and student, trying to simulate the teaching-learning environment, besides providing what started the work, improving the training of mathematics teachers.

This research comprises Physical Education teaching practice and its field of investigation is the early years of Basic Education, comprehended by a) Children’s Education (Preschool), and b) Elementary School (early years), in this study named Children’s Physical Education (CPE). This study aims to analyse teacher’s pedagogical content knowledge; then, relate to how the knowledge base organizes the pedagogical practice. This knowledge base in teaching refers to the subject, the content, the context, and general pedagogical knowledge. To achieve that, the project was based on a qualitative approach. In the first stage, 14 teachers from different schools in a city on the countryside of São Paulo state, Brazil. For the data collection, an extension activity was proposed to a specific group of participants during their Collective Pedagogical Work Time. The second stage consisted in interviews with four teachers in the interest of the correlation of a pedagogical content knowledge in teaching; as well as collected information regarding the vertical articulation of CPE’s curriculum. The results showed that teachers are aware of the subject - the child - from the direct contact with them. The subject’s knowledge reveals when the teacher adapts the classes according to their demands and the expectations created by the teachers themselves. Also, regular and cultural games consist the content applied on CPE, which highlights a sufficient knowledge expressed by the teachers, mostly in their didactic application of this theme. The children’s context concerned the teachers as well, and reflected on their pedagogical practice. On the other hand, the awareness about other schools, the teaching community, and social factors were less present in their reports, indicating small contributions for their pedagogical content knowledge. Also, interdisciplinary activities and continuity in teaching were identified, although no effective measures were taken for a vertical articulation of the curriculum. The conclusion points to an array of practices for teacher’s professional development through a continuing education process specific and contextualized for each teaching profile.
