(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2021-03-17) Sabatine, Mirela de Lima; Benedetti Filho, Edemar; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5963704923612696; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8424944939651884
This work describes a research involving the use of analogies related to scientific development and its use in the classroom in order to approximate the scientific concepts of students through their previous knowledge. Following the methodology involving the analysis of analogies proposed by Curtis and Reigeluthe (1984) and the TWA model (Teaching with Analogies) by Harrinson and Treagust (1993), the analogies were analyzed, focusing on Atomic Models and Periodicity, presented in five textbooks adjusted in the National Textbook Plan for the 2018 triennium.

Several authors have dedicated themselves to investigating the dynamics of machining operations from different scopes. This type of study is especially valuable when it comes to finishing conditions, as the vibrations in process can significantly affect the surface integrity of the machined components. Turning of steels in the hardened state has gained ground in the metalworking industry as a substitute for abrasive processes. In this case, in fact, monitoring vibrations and controlling different roughness parameters are extremely important, as they can even influence the mechanical behavior of the components in question. This work contains an investigation about the influence of some machining conditions on the vibration of the tool and the surface integrity of the part in hard turning. For this, a specimen of tool steel for hot working type H13 was quenched and tempered made in segmented laps. The experimental procedures are divided into two stages: preliminary tests and new tests. In the former, a conventional lathe was used, a negative tool and, as influencing factors, the rotation of the spindle, the feed and the position of the lap in machining. The vibration signals, measured by piezoelectric tablets, were not able to infer any influence; on the other hand, the triaxial accelerometer indicated the influence of the advance. The roughness parameters, evaluated in a confocal microscope, in turn, showed the influence of the lap in machining. In the new tests, a CNC lathe, positive tool and piezoelectric accelerometers were used, which pointed to a greater influence of rotation and feed on the vibration of the tool. The roughness parameters show the effect of rotation and the position of the lap when machining. In view of the results obtained, it is concluded that this approach can consistently contribute to the improvement of process planning involving the machining of hardened steels. As suggestions for further work, we highlight the study of the influence of dynamic machining conditions on the mechanical behavior of machined components and the evaluation of vibration signals in the frequency domain to enable the identification of the occurrence of the chatter phenomenon.

This research has as main objective to generate reflections on the environmental planning process of ecological corridors evidence-based published through the action research methodology. This is the UFSCar ecological corridor, which is foreseen in the last update of the Campus Master Plan, held in 2013. The action research model was used as the main methodology. Criteria for bibliographic analysis of scientific evidence were developed. Regarding the information obtained through scientific evidence, for the groups of organisms affected by the ecological corridor, it is believed that plant restoration, based on species native to the region, favors all groups of organisms. Regarding the type of plant restoration, studies point to passive restoration, indicating only the removal of eucalyptus which, in turn, can be kept in small fractions, which can function as nucleating species for restoration. Regarding the control of brachiariae, the result is divided between the use of chemical control or mechanical extraction, indicating a study that tests which is the best option. The roads are shown to have an impact on biodiversity conservation, but few studies address the effect of firebreaks as an object of study, requiring practical proof. Environmental monitoring of all management actions is essential, using different instruments and methodologies, prioritizing those that best represent the specific needs of the corridor in question. The qualification criteria of the bibliographic sources proved to be valid for selecting the information obtained. Through the applied action research methodology, we were able to reflect more on the research development process, which was positive to generate questions and assessments about the available structure used by us for bibliographic research

The beer market in Brazil arouses interests all over the world. With a large volume of distribution concentrated in a few players, the competition for spaces in this market is fierce, and consequently, investment in advertising grows exponentially. Understanding the consumer purchasing decision-making process and knowing their preferences and influences is essential to direct the strategies of these large companies, ensuring an adequate return on investments in Marketing. The objective of the research is to understand the buying behavior of the beer consumer, identifying the influences in the purchasing decision-making process, in particular the impact of brand communication in this process. This being a quantitative-descriptive research, the data collection sought to capture attitudinal issues of purchase, and the behavior in relation to brands of beer most consumed today, highlighting different aspects such as flavor, packaging and social circle providing relevance in the process.

The family is considered the main assistance, interaction and support network in old age. However, the effectiveness of this protective factor is not always observed. It is known that with advancing age, the chances of developing diseases and dependence increase, intensifying the needs for support and care. Social safety nets play an important role in maintaining family and community ties, contributing to the health and well-being of the elderly. This study aims to analyze a constitution of family arrangements of elderly people registered in a Reference Center for Social Assistance and its relationship with social support, fragility, quality of life and cognition, considering two moments of data collected in the period from 2012 to 2019. In addition to analyzing, from the perspective of the elderly, possible tensions in the family context. This is a longitudinal study using mixed methods with concomitant triangulation that continued the research carried out between 2012 and 2016 with 247 elderly people. Data collection occurred through a home visit with an approximate time of one hour. Instruments were used to obtain sociodemographic data, Edmonton's Fragility Scale to identify frailty; The Montreal Cognitive Assessment for screening cognitive impairment, quality of life (Whoqol-bref and the old), building a Genogram and Ecomapa to assess family and social relationships through tapes. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon and Mann Whitney comparison test, those with a qualitative approach using content analysis based on Bardin, using dialectical materialism as the theoretical framework, and Agnes Heller's concept of daily life. 84 elderly people participated in this study. It was noticed that the majority remained living with a family member (73.8%), 54.7% increased their relations with the community. The fragility and non-statistical cognition related to the type of arrangement, however, elderly people who lived alone had worse quality of life in the physical (p0.044) and psychological domains (p0.031) and better scores in relation to the total Whoqol-old ( p0.036). Elderly people who lived with young grandchildren worsened in the social relationship (p0.047) and Whoqol-bref (p0.029) domains, and improved in death and dying (p <0.001) and Whoqol-old (p0, 019). Living with a spouse only worsened the functioning of the sensory abilities (p0.022) and improvements in the domain death and dying (p0.028). Through the categories “Relational processes of the elderly with the family”, “Changes in the elderly's family configuration”, “Support and social support offered and received”, it was observed that family arrangements are dynamic, sources of tensions, conflicts and relationships of interdependence. It is concluded that regardless of the type of family arrangement, the relationships built between its members are essential for the provision of support and support in old age, interfering in their health conditions. It is urgent to reformulate public policies aimed at this specific population in order to provide quality services to this social segment that is growing.
