    Noise is a problem constantly present in digital images incoming from multiple sources, being important to study noise filters to improve the quality of images. When dealing with radiographic images, Poisson noise is an inherent problem that is more noticeable in a proportion that is inverse to the radiation dosage used for the same energy. Radiation, in high dosages, can be harmful to the patient's health, therefore the radiation dose reduction through new technologies is a desirable application. There are several techniques capable of filtering noise in digital images, which are most effective when directed to a specific type of noise. BM3D is a non-local image noise filter that works on Wavelet transform domain. The BM3D works by extracting similar small fragments in the image, called patches, having their comparison made by the Euclidean distance and grouped in sets of 3 dimensions. These patches are used for double filtering using hardthresholding on Wavelet domain and a Wiener filter, reducing noise and reconstructing the image. The Euclidean distance is very effective in comparing patches for AWGN noise (Additive White Gaussian Noise), however, it is inappropriate for Poisson noise and less effective when compared to stochastic distances. Based on this strategy, this work presents a technique for the reduction of Poisson noise with BM3D algorithm, replacing the calculation of the Euclidean distance by stochastic distances.

    The chemistry discipline is briefly presented to students in the eighth and ninth grade, through the Science discipline, and it only gains more contents in high school. Chemistry is an abstract Science: experimental classes are needed to be better understood, but educational institutions do not always have the necessary infrastructure. Due to this problem, several other learning formats can be proposed, according to each school situation. In December 2019, a new human disease emerged, the SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome) also known as COVID19, from the mutation of coronavirus type whose main replication hosts were, until then, bats. This type of virus became transmissible between humans through droplets of spittle: by speech, coughing or sneezing, and it spread rapidly around the world. From a survey carried out in scientific data bases, few papers were identified that included educational games with SARS-CoV-2 and ludo game proposed. This motivated us to develop as monograph work a didactic game that correlates subjects about SARS-CoV-2 with chemistry, biology, and public health content, in a playful and interdisciplinary way.

    Since the first case of COVID-19 was registered in the city of Wuhan in China at the end of 2019, the disease caused by the coronavirus SARS-Cov-2, has quickly spread across the continents, causing not only a health crisis, but also a “disinformation infodemic”. As this is a new disease, information is essential for self-protection, to be well and to prevent the proliferation of the virus, but it is necessary to recognize the sources of information determined to make good use of truthful information. This study aimed to identify whether the media and information literacy of the residents of the Cidade Aracy neighbourhood, in São Carlos, is related to the evolution of COVID-19 in that neighbourhood. Through a questionnaire addressed to residents, it was possible to identify the behaviour, points of view and habits of the community regarding information about COVID-19. Data show that City Aracy is the most affected by COVID-19, so it was selected for the study. We identified that the participants affirm that they do not have the habit of sharing information about COVID-19 and the vast majority report that they can verify the veracity of information. Therefore, it is possible to conclude that these media and information literacy skills self-reported by the residents, were possibly not related to such alarming numbers of COVID-19 infection in this neighbourhood.
