The present research was developed within the scope of the Graduate Program in Agroecology and Development at the Federal University of São Carlos - SP. Its objective was to characterize processes of water (In)justice suffered by rural communities in the Brazilian Semi-Arid region from the implementation of the Project for the Integration of Hydrographic Basins of the Northern Northeast (PISF). The research was developed in four stages, the first refers to a re-reading of quantitative data produced by the author of this research, for the development of his monograph, but which presents relevant information for the debate on Water (In)justice. The second stage consisted of a literature review on Water (In)justice. The debate was systematized and presented in the second section of this work. The third step is to carry out a field interview in the territories Vila Produtiva Rural Lafayette and Pau D'arco/Mulungu, located in the rural area of the municipality of Monteiro-PB. The field research consists of carrying out a qualitative interview to identify the possible water (In)justices present in the researched communities, considering the analytical dimensions that deal with accumulation, conflicts and actions of civil society, present in the theoretical framework. The fourth and last stage is presented in the systematization of field data. The processes related to ACCUMULATION were categorized into “Commitments of water sources”, “Concentration of water sources” and “Water commodification”; processes related to CONFLICTS were categorized into “Community Conflicts”, “Inter-Community Conflicts”, “Community vs State Conflicts” and finally “Community vs Ministry Conflicts”; processes related to civil society action were categorized into “Formations and partnerships”, “Struggles and social mobilizations” and “Projects” according to the discussions presented in section three of this work. The conclusions indicate that the water (In)justices are characterized in several fields, more in particular with regard to the conditions of access, quality, and commercialization of water, as well as in the conflicts generated by the PISF in a direct and indirect way. In order to combat injustices, the resistance of the victimized communities is attested through the actions of civil society, which has done a lot to repair the impacts caused by water injustices, which the territories were subordinated to.

Ciliates dominate microzooplankton and play an essential role in marine food webs. By ingesting flagellates, bacteria and other organisms from pico and nano-plankton, and then being consumed by zooplankton, ciliates are the main pathway of carbon flow that links the microbial loop to the classical trophic chain. However, the diversity and distribution of ciliates in the global ocean is still poorly understood due to the difficulty of observing and classifying these organisms under light microscopy. When fixed, most ciliates are lost or change their morphology, making their identification difficult. Thus, the use of molecular tools represents an opportunity to study the ciliate community in the ocean. Within ciliates, the Strombidiidae family is amongst the most abundant, but there are still few systematic studies at the global scale on the distribution, abundance and phylogeny of this important group in the ocean. This study aims to: 1) evaluate the phylogenetic diversity of Strombidiidae, 2) understand its distribution in the global ocean, 3) determine the ecological niche of the most abundant clades. We used a metabarcoding dataset (region V4 18S rRNA) of 1008 samples from the TARA Oceans and TARA Polar circum-navigation expeditions. We constructed a Strombidiidae reference tree with complete 18S rRNA gene sequences from the literature and inserted the metabarcoding sequences for phylogenetic assignment. Then we related the distribution data of these clades with environmental data to define ecological niches. The phylogeny of Strombidiidae revealed 20 distinct clades, almost all of them widely distributed in most oceanic regions. The most abundant clade (Strombidium_clade2) is cosmopolitan. Furthermore, we obtained 12 environmental clades whose sequences (V4 18S rRNA region) are not identical to those described in the reference tree, and thus, may represent new clades. Niche analysis showed that the different clades of the Strombidiidae family had different distribution patterns in the global ocean, determined by temperature, salinity and oxygen. The Arctic Ocean had greater abundance among the Strombidiidae clades and very characteristic niches were observed for these oceanographic regions. This work represents the first study of the taxonomic and phylogenetic diversity of the Strombidiidae family in the global ocean, thus contributing to the knowledge of the ecology of marine ciliates.

In the digitalization era several technology features have become essential in order to increase the productivity of industries and decrease the environmental impact during the product life cycle. This means that engineering, marketing, sales, and other areas that constitute a modern company are driven by data, which accumulates and tends to become more complex with time. Information acquisition and data storage technologies are at an advanced stage in the national industries. However, even though data from process areas such as engineering, manufacturing, processes, and services can be obtained, data integration, management, and implementation in the virtual world are not a focus of research. With the growing demand for individualized products, the digital twin offers an effective solution for modeling, development, and innovation. This work seeks to provide a better product-digital interface for better design execution and product development management, making the life cycle more efficient, integrated, and sustainable. Through the conducted study, a framework was developed for the initiation of engineering projects with the intention of building a digital twin and finally, this same project structure was put to test by means of a case study. The construction of the digital twin of an additive manufacturing platform, customized with a Delta-type robot, was started in the form of an integrated project from the requirements, generating at the end, a digital product, with all information integrated and related to the product objects and engineering project. Therefore, it is stated that the created process structure presents a valid and tested strategy for the initiation of any digital twin project, so that the product can follow the life cycle with all the necessary information for further manufacturing and service development.

Tuberculosis is the leading cause of death among infectious diseases, according to the World Health Organization, and represents a major public health problem. About 1.4 million people died from tuberculosis worldwide in 2019, with about 4,500 cases per year in Brazil since 2010. Early diagnosis of tuberculosis is essential for treatment to be more efficient, avoiding nonspecific therapies that contribute to the emergence of resistant forms of the pathogen. Current diagnostic methods, such as immunoassays and molecular tests, require infrastructure and specialized professionals, compromising diagnosis in low-resource settings. In this sense, new biomarkers have been researched for the development of new diagnostic tools. Among these biomarkers, we have the Hsp65 and CFP-10 proteins, which are found in different samples from tuberculosis patients and are secreted in the early stages of infection. Therefore, the present study presents the development of a paper-based immunosensor for the simultaneous detection of Hsp65 and CFP-10 proteins using a lateral flow system. For this, the biomarkers were immobilized on the nitrocellulose membrane for detection through the competitive model, in a device composed of the sample, detection, and absorption zone. Gold nanoparticles were functionalized with antibodies against the targets to act as detection labels. After optimizing the immunosensor in different experimental parameters, such as sample volume and incubation time, it was possible to build calibration curves for both biomarkers for the concentration range of 2.5 μmol.L-1 and 40 μmol.L-1 . The device presented several advantages over the diagnostic methods already used, such as low-cost, easy-to-use, fast results detectable with the naked eye, providing a promising tool for the diagnosis of tuberculosis at the point of care.

Educational trends must adapt to the demands of society. In a world that increasingly requires creativity and problem-solving skills, it is necessary to train active and critical citizens. For this, one of the possible alternatives is to use Active Methodologies in the elaboration of lesson plans, in order to place the student as the protagonist of the teaching-learning process. This Course Conclusion Paper (CCP) investigates the concepts of Active Methodologies, Ethnomathematics and Interdisciplinarity, as well as the difference between "Exercise" and "Problem" in the mathematical context. Examples of active methodologies and suggestions for strategies to apply them in the classroom will be presented. The central objective of this CCP aims to bring greater meaning to the study of the concepts of regular polygons and their relationship with other areas of knowledge, in particular with Biological Sciences. To this end, it presents a mathematics lesson plan, focused on the Final Years of Elementary School, based on Ethnomathematics and one of the strategies of active methodology, Project-Based Learning or Problems. Among the results obtained, it is noteworthy that Active Methodologies, in addition to bringing results similar to those of a traditional class, also allow the development of self-confidence, self-esteem and student autonomy. More than that, the results showed that, by stimulating students' critical thinking in relation to the world they live in, the educator shows students that everyone has a role in society and that, with knowledge, a prepared and strong teaching team, the school community can mobilize large masses and make a difference.

Here we test whether the Serial Discontinuity Concept actually predicts the damming effect as a gradient break in the Continuous River Concept. Microcrustaceans (Cladocera and Copepoda) were collected at six sampling points along 815 km of the main channel in a large tropical river (Rio Parnaíba, Northeast Brazil) for 2 years. The composition, diversity, abundance and dissimilarity were studied, as well as the effects of environmental variables. The hypotheses tested were: i) the presence of a single reservoir disrupts the structure of microcrustaceans, with greater richness at points downstream of the reservoir due to the mixture of lentic and lotic organisms, as well as at points in the downstream stretch of the river, as expected in the Serial Discontinuity Concept, increasing zooplankton diversity and abundance; ii) there is loss of species in areas close to the municipalities as a result of the impact of effluents (lower values of beta diversity and nesting effect). A total of 48 taxa (Cladocera = 37 species, Copepoda = 11 species) and 18 new records were found for the river, reflecting the positive effects on a wide spatial and temporal effort. Both hypotheses were accepted, with the effect of a reservoir causing a break in the continuous longitudinal gradient and the dissimilarity increasing at sampling points close to municipalities. The environmental variables showed low variation between the sampled points, with the temporal variation in the Parnaíba river being more evident. The presence of a single reservoir influences the increase in zooplankton diversity and abundance, as there is an increase in taxa in the downstream lotic environment, in addition to the influence on the flow.

We have observed that the History of Mathematics often goes unnoticed by students during problem solving or the study of mathematical content. In this work we seek to analyze how is the approach of the History of Mathematics in some textbooks, from the 1950 to the present, focusing on its historical approach and the connection in the approach of mathematical exercises. In addition, we analyzed the teaching material from three schools, one state, one municipal and one from the private network, in order to identify the approach to the History of Mathematics in the exercises and in the theoretical part of the content. Then, we elaborate and apply an activity suggestion that relates the History of Mathematics with Egyptian numbers, allowing the student to visualize the history together with the resolution of problems and provide the student's role in the creation of mathematical problems involving Egypt

One of the great challenges faced by regenerative orthopedic medicine is the production of prostheses and implants seeking to achieve a behavior close to that of damaged or lost bones. The complexity of the task is due to the organic composition of bones and their continuous, but finite, capacity for biological renewal and, consequently, the limitation of regeneration. With this, the damage to the bone structure can reach two situations: it comes at a low level and the bone is able to regenerate, and the opposite case. When the first case occurs, the bone is able to regenerate itself with an external aid (splints and plaster). In the second case, there are three possible approaches: 1) performing an autograft with the patient's own biological material, 2) performing a graft with bone materials from another person, and 3) inserting a prosthesis. The latter is the context in which this work is developed. The use of Topological Optimization is considered in the design of prostheses in order to obtain more efficient solutions from the point of view of material distribution and internal efforts. Computational tests were carried out evaluating three solution methods: Optimality Criterion, Alternating Minimization, and Interior Points, respectively seeking to explore the elastic mechanical characteristics of four life stages of bones. Two formulations of the Minimum Compliance problem were implemented in the FEniCS environment. Two filters are used to handle pseudo-densities and mesh dependence in the material distribution proposed by Andreassen and Lazarov, respectively. Numerical examples are presented to verify the generality of the proposed methods. The results indicated that: (i) the life stage in which the bone tissue is directly affected by its mechanical properties and (ii) the exact methods with the density filter proposed by Lazarov enable the manufacture of the geometries generated through the Topology Optimization technique.

Introduction: The mental health of adolescents is an emerging research theme that often reflects an adult-centered perspective and realities that may not be fully compatible with the context of the Global South. This highlights the need to capture the voices of this population while emphasizing the importance of mental health promotion within the perspective of psychosocial care and local contexts. Art and culture play a crucial role in mental health and psychosocial care, particularly within its sociocultural dimension. Therefore, studies that investigate the relationship between art, culture and mental health among adolescents are vital to creating new life opportunities and enhancing the quality of care. Objectives: The main objective of this study was to examine adolescents' perceptions of their experiences with art and culture projects and how it relates to their own mental health. As specific objectives, this study aimed to (1) investigate how adolescents evaluate access to art and culture activities in their local communities; (2) understand how art and culture activities influence the life stories of adolescents; (3) identify how adolescents have engaged in art and culture activities during the COVID-19 pandemic; and (4) produce and disseminate a documentary about the participants' experience in art and culture projects, in collaboration with them, using a participatory method. Methodology: This study involved six adolescents from vulnerable contexts who participated in art and culture projects. The participatory research methodthis used two strategies for the construction of data. The first consisted of the development of oral historys of life and the second concerned the organization of discussion groups on the topic of art, culture and mental health. Using Bardin's thematic content analysis technique, narratives derived from the oral histories were analyzed. The axes and categories identified by the researcher were validated by the discussion group participants. As part of the discussion groups, the proposed topics were explored further with participants to collaboratively produce a documentary, which was the main outcome of the study and a contribution to society. Results: Participants in the study were involved in a variety of art and culture activities, including capoeira, writing, clay sculpture, drawing and music. In view of the adolescent's narratives, four thematic axes were identified. Axis One was the 'bond and knots: the family's role in the development of support networks'; Axis Two was 'Transgression and other forms of freedom and well-being'; Axis Three was 'You are not alone, see?'; Axis Four was 'COVID-19 kit: resilience and tenderness. Within these themes, the axes were further explored into 11 categories. Discussion: Results indicate that the research participants placed a high level of importance and idealization on their family members, particularly their mothers. The mother is an important reference, which raises the reflection on the relationship between gender and family care. Additionally, they indicated that fraternal relationships within cultural and artistic spaces are organized by a perspective of social roles within the family that sometimes prevent or facilitate access to projects. While families reported reaping limited benefits from the projects' political and emancipatory potential, the participants noted profound subjective changes as a result of their participation. Participants also reported an increased sense of critical skills, social contractuality, belonging, urban mobility and the emancipatory political potential with the participation. According to them, the coordinators of art and culture projects were a source of support, a point of reference and a means of obtaining access to new opportunities essential for their continued involvement in the projects. The pandemic was also frequently mentioned by participants, who recognized difficulties and social problems associated with it, such as dropping out of school. In spite of this, they also identified the pandemic as a positive period and a time of personal growth and development. It is identified that art-culture projects are structured in a network developed by affection and as a support point chosen by the adolescents. The entire research process culminated in the creation of a documentary entitled "Young art: creators of their own opportunities", which was credited by the teenagers as an opportunity to be represented and to participate in something new. Final considerations: according to the participants, arts and culture projects provided them with spaces for participation, cultural expression, citizenship reclamation, enhanced critical skills, increased access to new opportunities, greater agency repertoire and a fight for quality of life, all of which influence the proposal for psychosocial care and mental health promotion.

Among the scheduling problems encountered in production, there is the flexible job shop (FJSP), which is an extension of the classic Job Shop. The FJSP is classified as an NP-Hard problem and can be described as a set of jobs, formed by a certain number of operations that can be allocated on a predetermined set of machines, with their respective execution times. The way operations are distributed across machines directly influences programming efficiency. Efficiency that can be measured and optimized through several performance criteria, that is, several objectives at the same time. The production schedule generated by a multi-objective optimization algorithm (MOFJSP), which mainly considers three performance criteria, namely: completion time of all operations (Makespan), load assigned to the most loaded machine and the sum of the load of all machines, does not present a single global optimal solution, but a set of non-dominated and dominated solutions, called the Pareto set. The solutions of this Pareto set are optimal or close to optimal solutions, being considered good solutions because they can generate a diversity of representations of the production schedule, for example, in the form of Gantt charts. For decision makers to choose the best production scheduling solution among the possible ones found by MOFJSP, other variables can be taken into account, such as maximizing or minimizing machine idleness, the load of operations on a machine, etc. which can provide greater adherence to the decision in view of the needs of the production system. For the inclusion of these variables and the selection of the best production schedule among those provided by the Pareto set, it is proposed to use a decision-making algorithm based on the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity with the Ideal Solution in a Fuzzy environment, called Fuzzy - TOPSIS This decision maker can weight variables that are not contemplated in the MOFJSP algorithm and assist in the decision making of the best production schedule among the optimal ones or close to the optimal ones obtained. In the results, it was possible to notice that the values obtained with the application of the algorithm proposed for this problem obtained results close to the expected ones, according to the variables analyzed, and can be an important tool in aiding decision-making in a production system.

Breast cancer has a high global incidence, it was the most fatal type of cancer in 2020, When 66,280 new cases were estimated just in Brazil. The main problems associated with tumors are related to their metastatic behavior, that is, their ability to migrate and get in secondary tissues. This process takes place through the extracellular matrix and is supported by angiogenesis, relying on the mediation of cell ligands called integrins. Simulating the tumor microenvironment in vitro allows the understanding of cell signaling processes, which can be done by 3D culture. Thus, it is possible to mimic the conditions of complex cell interactions, such as tumor interactions, and, unlike 2D culture, it is possible to achieve greater similarity with in vivo processes. During the cell culture, a hypoxic environment will be used to simulate the oxygen depletion that occurs inside tumor masses, an important factor in triggering several cell signaling cascades. The current work brings results about the use of disintegrin DisBa-01 in 3D culture of tumor (MDA-MB-231) and endothelial cells (HUVEC) in hypoxia and normoxia environments, in order to analyze the cell migration, extracellular matrix composition and angiogenesis process under those different conditions. DisBa-01 was expressed in a heterologous system and inoculated at concentrations of 10, 100, 1000 nm in 3D cultures of MDA-MB-231, with the addition of 2000 nM’s concentration in endothelial cells, resulting in the inhibition of cell migration of tumoral cells with 100 and 1000 nM of disintegrin in both oxygen conditions, and inhibition of cell migration of endothelial cells in all concentrations in normoxia and 1000 and 2000 nM of DisBa-01 in hypoxia. The extracellular matrix components was analyzed by immunofluorescence, evidencing that the concentration of αvβ3 integrin in normoxia increased, and in hypoxia decreased, without differences in collagen type I concentration in MDA-MB-231, and the opposite effect in HUVEC, with a decrease in the integrin’s concentration in normoxia and its increase in hypoxia, with the increase of collagen type I concentration just in normoxia, with no differences in hypoxia. The in vitro angiogenesis process was performed by a HUVEC sprouting assay in normoxic conditions, which demonstrated an angiogenic blockage with the DisBa-01 disintegrin treatment, by the decrease of number and mean size of sprouts beside the control group. This work evidences promising results of the use of DisBa-01 in 3D cultures, and reinforces its antimetastatics and antiangiogenic properties.

A promising alternative for air pollution control by industries is the replacement of conventional equipment, such as electrostatic precipitators and bag filters, by hybrid filters, which combine the phenomena of electrostatic precipitation and fabric filtration. Hybrid filtration has been studied in the three last decades and good results have been reported, in relation to superfine particulate matter collection efficiency, to the operation at low pressure drops and high surface filtration velocities. However, most of the works evaluated the application of hybrid filters to the pollution control in coal fired power plants. Until now, no study has been reported to the application in the steel industry. Furthermore, very little is still known about hybrid filtration of nanoparticles, which are extremely dangerous to the human health. Thus, this work aimed to evaluate the hybrid filtration of nanoparticles and of microparticles from the sinter process of a steel industry. The experimental test to evaluate the hybrid filtration of nanoparticles followed a factorial design 2^3, with the factors surface filtration velocity (1.0 and 2.0 m/min), electric field intensity (0.0 and 4.0 kV/cm) and filter medium (polyacrylonitrile and polyacrylonitrile with polytetrafluorethylene membrane). The results showed that, with the application of electric voltage, the nanoparticles which passed through the electrostatic precipitator without been collected had their collection intensified in the filter, due to the electrostatic attraction mechanism. Increases greater than 10.0 % in the polyacrylonitrile filter quality factor were obtained with the application of electric voltage in the electrostatic precipitator. To study the hybrid filtration applied to the steel industry, experimental tests were performed at a surface filtration velocity of 2.0 m/min, electric field intensities of 0.0, 4.0 and 5.0 kV/cm, and with a polyester filter. Two particulate matters were used for comparison: dolomitic limestone and sinter dust. With both dusts, the pressure drop increased slowly when electric voltage was applied, due to the particle collection in the electrostatic precipitator, increasing the total filtration time. With the sinter dust, the increase in the electric voltage caused only the finest particles to reach the polyester filter. However, no reduction in cake porosity was observed. For the industrial application, the results point that the bag cleaning frequency of a hybrid filter can be reduced in comparison to that of a conventional bag filter, which can lead to the increase in the bag lifetime and, consequently, to the reduction of maintenance costs.

The objective of this work is to discuss the exclusionary profile that has developed in the city of Sorocaba, together with the implementation and operation of three asylum institutions in the city. The period analyzed was from 1890 to 1920 and the institutions analyzed were: Asylo Succursal de Alienados de Sorocaba; the Asylo de Mendicidade São Vicente de Paulo and the Institute of Mental Hygiene “Dr. Luís Vergueiro” - Asylum of Sorocaba. The way these institutions operated were in tune with the eugenic, racist and exclusionary ideals spread around the world during the late 19th and early 20th centuries and which lasted in Brazil, as well as in other countries, for decades. In an attempt to build a city within Eurocentric urban and civilizing standards, from the last decade of the 19th century, the local elite sought status for the city of Hygienopolis Paulista. With that, it incorporated into its mentality and organization, exclusionary practices of social hygiene against people considered unfit to live in society; crazy men and women, vagabonds and alcoholics were the target of exclusion and imprisonment in asylums and in the begging asylum built in the city. In line with the eugenic discourse disseminated among the intellectual, scientific-medical layers and the Brazilian State, the political-bourgeois elite of Sorocaba committed itself to creating restrictive legal elements in order to corroborate the construction of institutions of reclusion and asylum in the city in the course of the 20th century. Observing this process, we use the concept of Whiteness, to point out how the permanence of practices and actions supported by codes of normality and white-Eurocentric standards made it possible to strengthen the structural racism evidenced in Brazilian society.

This article analyzes the implementation of the policy to decentralize public environmental management, focusing on the municipalization of environmental licensing. The mechanisms adopted by the municipality of Araraquara, SP,forits environmental licensing were methodologically compared to the mechanisms used in the municipality of São Carlos, SP,by thestate of São Paulo, through the CETESB, which is the state environmental control agency. Abibliographic survey and document analysis of the public agencies wereconducted. The research elucidated thatmunicipalized environmental licensing did not decrease the time required to approvelicensesand thatno investments were made to updatethe analysis processes, unlike the state, which went through a process to virtualizeits license requests. However, the municipality of Araraquara conductsa more thorough analysis of licensed businesses to mitigateenvironmental impacts. This municipality also hasgreater contactbetween municipal public officialsand the community, which demonstrates benefits in decentralization.

This dissertation aims to present the socio-environmental impacts caused by noise pollution, specifically generated by railway noise by the horn of the train that crosses the urban area of São Carlos and Ibaté-SP, thus contributing with substantial data for Civil Inquiries of the Public Ministry, State and Federal, as well as for the formulation of public policies aimed at treating railway noise. In addition, alternative, eradicating or mitigating measures were presented to conciliate the conflict between private companies against public authorities and civil society. This research was exploratory quantitative-qualitative, carried out through three systematic procedures, which will directly answer the three guiding questions: 1. “What is the legislative and technical normative that falls on noise pollution, specifically on railway noise?”; 2. “What are the socio-environmental impacts caused by this noise pollution, especially in the cities of São Carlos and Ibaté-SP?”; 3. “What are the alternatives, mitigating or eradicating measures, for this problem?”. The case study consisted of the analysis of data from a questionnaire applied, in online format, to the populations of São Carlos and Ibate, investigating the damage caused to them by the development of the railway activity. Through this research, it is intended to indicate alternatives for the conciliation of the established conflict, proposing the practice of organizational environmental management through eradicating or mitigating measures for noise pollution by railway noise, based on the data collected and analyzed, and on the study of the Noise Monitoring and Control Program, of the company responsible for the railway activity in question, generating the noise pollution discussed.

INTRODUCTION: The Choosing Wisely initiative aims to promote discussions among health professionals and patients to reduce low-value care that confers no benefit or can cause harm to health. OBJECTIVE: To describe the process for developing the Brazilian Choosing Wisely list for Women’s Health/Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy. METHODS: The research will be conducted in three stages. In the first stage, physical therapists with experience in women’s health/pelvic floor will be invited to compose a panel of experts and respond to a form. The Delphi method will be used to derive a list of evidence-based statements. In the second stage, members of the research team will review all the recommendations provided by the expert panel. In the third stage, a sample of physical therapists will vote on the previously selected statements. The recommendations with the most votes in the national survey will be submitted to Choosing Wisely Brazil, and a final list of recommendations will be published.

This dissertation is the result of dissatisfaction with the way we are dealing with the digital society, building it at great strides which are unattainable by the legislation of each State. What we see is a dispute over whether or not global digital technology companies are responsible for infringing content published by third parties, even if it violates human dignity. We contextualize the research with elements of data colonialism theory for the understanding of contemporary capitalism; along with the UN decision in 2011 to recognize internet access as a human right. Thus, the objective of this research was to present and discuss, with legal and literary support, cases of human rights violations experienced by Brazilian users of social networks. The primary and secondary questions that drove the research are: Are there cases of human rights violations in social networks? If so: Are there practical and effective judicial measures to stop violations and hold violators accountable? As hypotheses, we have that, first, there is a failure in the protection of the user, which constitutes a flagrant violation of fundamental and human rights in these digital environments, specifically in social networks. And secondly, that there is difficulty in maintaining a balance in the relationship between digital technology companies and States. Regarding the methodological procedures, bibliographic and document research was used, the latter focusing on the identification and collection, from the São Paulo Court of Justice (TJSP), of judgments involving application companies, in the resolution of false profile authorships. The analysis of the judgments used the content analysis method proposed by Laurence Bardin. And, to bring a nodal point between capitalism and formal education, we use Dostoevsky's novella The Crocodile as a metaphorical bridge, using socio-historical analysis, apprehending that the writer predicted the future of the voracious hunger of the foreign capitalist in an abstraction that would swallow up human dignity. The research results reveal that the historical tension between different social classes, racial groups – symptoms of an unequal world and country, such as Brazil – is reflected in the digital world. And this reflection, in turn, is manifested in the legislation produced, in the judgments and in the global appropriation of elites who, once extractive of natural assets, are now extractive of data produced by humans, exercising yet another way of plundering fundamental rights of connected populations.
