The complexity of the task is due to the organic composition of bones and their continuous, but finite, capacity for biological renewal and, consequently, the limitation of regeneration. With this, the damage to the bone structure can reach two situations: it comes at a low level and the bone is able to regenerate, and the opposite case. When the first case occurs, the bone is able to regenerate itself with an external aid (splints and plaster). In the second case, there are three possible approaches: 1) performing an autograft with the patient's own biological material, 2) performing a graft with bone materials from another person, and 3) inserting a prosthesis. The latter is the context in which this work is developed. The use of Topological Optimization is considered in the design of prostheses in order to obtain more efficient solutions from the point of view of material distribution and internal efforts. Computational tests were carried out evaluating three solution methods: Optimality Criterion, Alternating Minimization, and Interior Points, respectively seeking to explore the elastic mechanical characteristics of four life stages of bones. Two formulations of the Minimum Compliance problem were implemented in the FEniCS environment. Two filters are used to handle pseudo-densities and mesh dependence in the material distribution proposed by Andreassen and Lazarov, respectively. Numerical examples are presented to verify the generality of the proposed methods. In addition, we analyzed the teaching material from three schools, one state, one municipal and one from the private network, in order to identify the approach to the History of Mathematics in the exercises and in the theoretical part of the content. This highlights the need to capture the voices of this population while emphasizing the importance of mental health promotion within the perspective of psychosocial care and local contexts. Art and culture play a crucial role in mental health and psychosocial care, particularly within its sociocultural dimension. Therefore, studies that investigate the relationship between art, culture and mental health among adolescents are vital to creating new life opportunities and enhancing the quality of care. Objectives: The main objective of this study was to examine adolescents' perceptions of their experiences with art and culture projects and how it relates to their own mental health. As specific objectives, this study aimed to (1) investigate how adolescents evaluate access to art and culture activities in their local communities; (2) understand how art and culture activities influence the life stories of adolescents; (3) identify how adolescents have engaged in art and culture activities during the COVID-19 pandemic; and (4) produce and disseminate a documentary about the participants' experience in art and culture projects, in collaboration with them, using a participatory method. Methodology: This study involved six adolescents from vulnerable contexts who participated in art and culture projects. The participatory research methodthis used two strategies for the construction of data. The first consisted of the development of oral historys of life and the second concerned the organization of discussion groups on the topic of art, culture and mental health. Using Bardin's thematic content analysis technique, narratives derived from the oral histories were analyzed. The axes and categories identified by the researcher were validated by the discussion group participants. As part of the discussion groups, the proposed topics were explored further with participants to collaboratively produce a documentary, which was the main outcome of the study and a contribution to society. Results: Participants in the study were involved in a variety of art and culture activities, including capoeira, writing, clay sculpture, drawing and music. In view of the adolescent's narratives, four thematic axes were identified. Axis One was the 'bond and knots: the family's role in the development of support networks'; Axis Two was 'Transgression and other forms of freedom and well-being'; Axis Three was 'You are not alone, see?'; Axis Four was 'COVID-19 kit: resilience and tenderness. Within these themes, the axes were further explored into 11 categories. Discussion: Results indicate that the research participants placed a high level of importance and idealization on their family members, particularly their mothers. The mother is an important reference, which raises the reflection on the relationship between gender and family care. Additionally, they indicated that fraternal relationships within cultural and artistic spaces are organized by a perspective of social roles within the family that sometimes prevent or facilitate access to projects. While families reported reaping limited benefits from the projects' political and emancipatory potential, the participants noted profound subjective changes as a result of their participation. Participants also reported an increased sense of critical skills, social contractuality, belonging, urban mobility and the emancipatory political potential with the participation. According to them, the coordinators of art and culture projects were a source of support, a point of reference and a means of obtaining access to new opportunities essential for their continued involvement in the projects. The pandemic was also frequently mentioned by participants, who recognized difficulties and social problems associated with it, such as dropping out of school. In spite of this, they also identified the pandemic as a positive period and a time of personal growth and development. It is identified that art-culture projects are structured in a network developed by affection and as a support point chosen by the adolescents. The entire research process culminated in the creation of a documentary entitled "Young art: creators of their own opportunities", which was credited by the teenagers as an opportunity to be represented and to participate in something new. Final considerations: according to the participants, arts and culture projects provided them with spaces for participation, cultural expression, citizenship reclamation, enhanced critical skills, increased access to new opportunities, greater agency repertoire and a fight for quality of life, all of which influence the proposal for psychosocial care and mental health promotion.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Desempenho da filtração híbrida na coleta de nanopartículas, calcário dolomítico e pó de sinterização de uma indústria siderúrgica(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-11-11) Castro, Bruno José Chiaramonte de; Sartim, Rafael; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0380809249444032; Aguiar, Mônica Lopes; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0431688649128529; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9306599334757765A promising alternative for air pollution control by industries is the replacement of conventional equipment, such as electrostatic precipitators and bag filters, by hybrid filters, which combine the phenomena of electrostatic precipitation and fabric filtration. Hybrid filtration has been studied in the three last decades and good results have been reported, in relation to superfine particulate matter collection efficiency, to the operation at low pressure drops and high surface filtration velocities. However, most of the works evaluated the application of hybrid filters to the pollution control in coal fired power plants. Until now, no study has been reported to the application in the steel industry. Furthermore, very little is still known about hybrid filtration of nanoparticles, which are extremely dangerous to the human health. Thus, this work aimed to evaluate the hybrid filtration of nanoparticles and of microparticles from the sinter process of a steel industry. The experimental test to evaluate the hybrid filtration of nanoparticles followed a factorial design 2^3, with the factors surface filtration velocity (1.0 and 2.0 m/min), electric field intensity (0.0 and 4.0 kV/cm) and filter medium (polyacrylonitrile and polyacrylonitrile with polytetrafluorethylene membrane). The results showed that, with the application of electric voltage, the nanoparticles which passed through the electrostatic precipitator without been collected had their collection intensified in the filter, due to the electrostatic attraction mechanism. Increases greater than 10.0 % in the polyacrylonitrile filter quality factor were obtained with the application of electric voltage in the electrostatic precipitator. To study the hybrid filtration applied to the steel industry, experimental tests were performed at a surface filtration velocity of 2.0 m/min, electric field intensities of 0.0, 4.0 and 5.0 kV/cm, and with a polyester filter. Two particulate matters were used for comparison: dolomitic limestone and sinter dust. With both dusts, the pressure drop increased slowly when electric voltage was applied, due to the particle collection in the electrostatic precipitator, increasing the total filtration time. With the sinter dust, the increase in the electric voltage caused only the finest particles to reach the polyester filter. However, no reduction in cake porosity was observed. The main problems associated with tumors are related to their metastatic behavior, that is, their ability to migrate and get in secondary tissues. This process takes place through the extracellular matrix and is supported by angiogenesis, relying on the mediation of cell ligands called integrins. Simulating the tumor microenvironment in vitro allows the understanding of cell signaling processes, which can be done by 3D culture. Thus, it is possible to mimic the conditions of complex cell interactions, such as tumor interactions, and, unlike 2D culture, it is possible to achieve greater similarity with in vivo processes. During the cell culture, a hypoxic environment will be used to simulate the oxygen depletion that occurs inside tumor masses, an important factor in triggering several cell signaling cascades. The current work brings results about the use of disintegrin DisBa-01 in 3D culture of tumor (MDA-MB-231) and endothelial cells (HUVEC) in hypoxia and normoxia environments, in order to analyze the cell migration, extracellular matrix composition and angiogenesis process under those different conditions. DisBa-01 was expressed in a heterologous system and inoculated at concentrations of 10, 100, 1000 nm in 3D cultures of MDA-MB-231, with the addition of 2000 nM’s concentration in endothelial cells, resulting in the inhibition of cell migration of tumoral cells with 100 and 1000 nM of disintegrin in both oxygen conditions, and inhibition of cell migration of endothelial cells in all concentrations in normoxia and 1000 and 2000 nM of DisBa-01 in hypoxia. The extracellular matrix components was analyzed by immunofluorescence, evidencing that the concentration of αvβ3 integrin in normoxia increased, and in hypoxia decreased, without differences in collagen type I concentration in MDA-MB-231, and the opposite effect in HUVEC, with a decrease in the integrin’s concentration in normoxia and its increase in hypoxia, with the increase of collagen type I concentration just in normoxia, with no differences in hypoxia. The in vitro angiogenesis process was performed by a HUVEC sprouting assay in normoxic conditions, which demonstrated an angiogenic blockage with the DisBa-01 disintegrin treatment, by the decrease of number and mean size of sprouts beside the control group. The FJSP is classified as an NP-Hard problem and can be described as a set of jobs, formed by a certain number of operations that can be allocated on a predetermined set of machines, with their respective execution times. The way operations are distributed across machines directly influences programming efficiency. Efficiency that can be measured and optimized through several performance criteria, that is, several objectives at the same time. The production schedule generated by a multi-objective optimization algorithm (MOFJSP), which mainly considers three performance criteria, namely: completion time of all operations (Makespan), load assigned to the most loaded machine and the sum of the load of all machines, does not present a single global optimal solution, but a set of non-dominated and dominated solutions, called the Pareto set. The solutions of this Pareto set are optimal or close to optimal solutions, being considered good solutions because they can generate a diversity of representations of the production schedule, for example, in the form of Gantt charts. For decision makers to choose the best production scheduling solution among the possible ones found by MOFJSP, other variables can be taken into account, such as maximizing or minimizing machine idleness, the load of operations on a machine, etc. which can provide greater adherence to the decision in view of the needs of the production system. For the inclusion of these variables and the selection of the best production schedule among those provided by the Pareto set, it is proposed to use a decision-making algorithm based on the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity with the Ideal Solution in a Fuzzy environment, called Fuzzy - TOPSIS This decision maker can weight variables that are not contemplated in the MOFJSP algorithm and assist in the decision making of the best production schedule among the optimal ones or close to the optimal ones obtained. In the results, it was possible to notice that the values obtained with the application of the algorithm proposed for this problem obtained results close to the expected ones, according to the variables analyzed, and can be an important tool in aiding decision-making in a production system.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Racismo, Higienismo e Controle Social: a construção dos espaços asilares manicomiais e de mendicidade em Sorocaba (1890-1920)(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2022-11-11) Bataiote, Júlio Cesar; Garcia, Marcos Roberto Vieira; lattes.cnpq.br/3911188481669270; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3035138347639618The objective of this work is to discuss the exclusionary profile that has developed in the city of Sorocaba, together with the implementation and operation of three asylum institutions in the city. The period analyzed was from 1890 to 1920 and the institutions analyzed were: Asylo Succursal de Alienados de Sorocaba; the Asylo de Mendicidade São Vicente de Paulo and the Institute of Mental Hygiene “Dr. Luís Vergueiro” - Asylum of Sorocaba. The way these institutions operated were in tune with the eugenic, racist and exclusionary ideals spread around the world during the late 19th and early 20th centuries and which lasted in Brazil, as well as in other countries, for decades. In an attempt to build a city within Eurocentric urban and civilizing standards, from the last decade of the 19th century, the local elite sought status for the city of Hygienopolis Paulista. With that, it incorporated into its mentality and organization, exclusionary practices of social hygiene against people considered unfit to live in society; crazy men and women, vagabonds and alcoholics were the target of exclusion and imprisonment in asylums and in the begging asylum built in the city. In line with the eugenic discourse disseminated among the intellectual, scientific-medical layers and the Brazilian State, the political-bourgeois elite of Sorocaba committed itself to creating restrictive legal elements in order to corroborate the construction of institutions of reclusion and asylum in the city in the course of the 20th century. Observing this process, we use the concept of Whiteness, to point out how the permanence of practices and actions supported by codes of normality and white-Eurocentric standards made it possible to strengthen the structural racism evidenced in Brazilian society.
