Zoneamento ambiental como instrumento de planejamento e gestão do perímetro urbano e de áreas verdes do município de Campina do Monte Alegre – SP
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-03-01) Gallassi, Camila; Toledo, André Marcondes Andrade; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1920147531988000; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7285471916161013
An instrument of the National Environmental Policy and City Statute, Environmental Zoning is an important tool in organizing the territory, responsible for dividing it according to areas where certain activities are authorized or not, in view of their social, economic and environmental characteristics. Several problems of urban feature can arise without this planning, including the occupation of irregular areas, pollution and the decrease in environmental quality, with consequences for the health and well-being of population, the reduction of green areas, which often end up being disregarded by government and the population, among others. Considering planning and management issues concerning about municipal Urban Growth Boundary and green areas that include it, this study sought to provide mens for this instrument to be adopted by the public authorities in the municipality of Campina do Monte Alegre – SP, located in countryside of state of São Paulo and belonging to one of the regions with the lowest human development index in this State, but with potential for growth due to the city’s proximity to a campus of Federal University of São Carlos. For this, maps were generated from drone imagens, topographic maps and shapefiles, indicating the built-up areas (totaling 295,040 m² of built area inside Urban Growth Boundary), the population density related to these areas (0,017 inhab/m², equivalent to one inhabitant per 57.3 m² of built area) and occupancy rate of the Urban Growth Boundary (5% from the total urban area and 17,88% of total High Density Building Areas), maps characterizing physical aspects, maps indicating the areas of environmental restriction, the urban voids, the amount of green areas in the municipality and possible regions for urban and green areas expansion.

Based on interdisciplinary research in Applied Human and Social Sciences, this work aims to reflect on the articulations between gender relations, possible violations of fundamental rights and freedoms and clothing, in the Brazilian scenario. Using the Critical Sewing Methodology, it has a feminist theoretical-methodological contribution and seeks documents that address the political, economic and sociocultural variables of Brazil today. Based on the assumption that the power relations existing in society unfold in different forms of control of female bodies, we seek to highlight the importance of identifying such forms that generally operate “subtly”. It emphasizes the extreme urgency in identifying possible allies and opponents in the construction of equality among all human beings, theoretically guaranteed. It is understood that only in this way will it be possible to consolidate alliances that work for a real social transformation in the sense of mitigating inequalities, as citizen-emancipatory actions depend on this bond. Therefore, the questioning about this exercised in this work constitutes an important action insofar as it contributes to future studies, remaining consistent with feminist agendas, especially with the guidelines of popular social movements in defense of women's rights.

This study aimed at investigating the connection between an active learning methodology of theme-based English instruction and the motivation of High School freshmen in a technical public institution. Theme-based teaching, one of the possible Content-Based Instruction (CBI) models, attempts to meet students’ needs and interests, focusing on issues related to pedagogical or academic demands or cognitive preferences (DUEÑAS, 2004). Considering that many students do not manifest interest in learning the language after four years of studies in elementary school (CAMPOS-GONELLA, 2007) and the urgency for new routes for teaching after the creation of the Common National Curricular Base (BNCC – Brasil, 2018), the interest in this research is based on the great motivational appeal provided by this approach. Active learning methodologies bring together a framework of approaches, strategies and activities that allow students to work with autonomy and creativity in the construction and application of knowledge (NASCIMENTO; OLIVEIRA-MELO, 2022), assumptions that meet what is proposed by the Brazilian document. The study was based on the assumption that theme-based teaching, based on an active learning practice, can influence students' motivation to learn English, due to their responsibility for choosing the themes and researching materials for the elaboration of the classes, being, therefore, co-builders of the course. The research was conducted in two phases and the methodological procedure used was action-research, conducted with questionnaires, recording of classes and a research diary kept by the teacher-researcher. Data analysis revealed that the pedagogical practice adopted meets some conditions of Motivational teaching practice (DÖRNYEI, 2001) and was evidenced as favorable for acting on the level of the learners’ motivation, especially with regard to its differentiated dynamics, in addition to awakening the interest of students and favoring agency and student protagonism. Among the most influential factors in the participants' motivation, it can be highlighted the methodological and socio-environmental factors (VIANA, 1990), as well as the contingency factor, proposed in the development of this research. It is hoped that this study can contribute to contextualized language teaching focused on student's learning conditions, as Kumaravadivelu (2006) and Leffa (2012) argue, in which the learner is integrated to his environment and acts in the construction of his knowledge.

Processamento, legislação, consumo e parâmetros de qualidade de pão francês de massa congelada
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-03-01) Oliveira, Estefani dos Santos; Selani, Miriam Mabel; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4857619853197645
The consumption of French bread has been growing exponentially and as a way to keep up with this trend, new technologies have emerged. One of them is the production of frozen dough, where the product goes through the fermentation and baking stages only close to consumption, avoiding losses and saving time and raw materials. Its processing is similar to conventional French bread, and as it is still a technology on the rise, it has little literature and does not have its own legislation. The quality parameters are the same adopted for conventional French bread since consumers are not expected to be able to differentiate between frozen French bread and conventional French bread. The main technological problems of using this technology are: adjusting the proportion of the ingredients, since the formulation can negatively affect the sensory characteristics; and the appearance of dark spots on the crust of the product, which may be related to different factors such as mechanical shocks, wrong addition of yeast and fermentation time and very long storage.

The cutting edge geometry has a great influence on the temperatures and forces developed during metal cutting processes, as well as on tool life. Aiming at obtaining high quality components and high productivity, proper edge preparation is essential. Within this context, the applicability of Al2O3-MgO ceramic cutting inserts with different edge geometries was investigated in hard turning. Such brittle materials must have a resistant edge to resist the impact without breaking. As it is a recently developed material and there is no information available, this work serves as a first investigation on this topic and has the goal of determining the most appropriate edge preparation regarding tool life and workpiece surface quality. For this, cutting inserts of the mentioned material had their edges prepared with four different geometries through grinding process and were applied with constant parameters in turning of hardened AISI 4140 steel (50 HRC). To analyze wear types and mechanisms, the used tools were observed in an optical microscope. From the obtained results, it was verified that the microgeometry with form factor K = 2 was the most effective in terms of tool life. In contrast, the insert with a single chamfer machined lower material volumes and fractured at the end of the tests. Tools with K = 1 and unprepared cutting edge allowed the machining of intermediate volumes. Regarding tool wear mechanisms, abrasion, adhesion, and chipping were predominant, in addition to tool breakage, which occurred in 75% of the experiments. Furthermore, in all cases, increased tool wear led to increased surface roughness, due to possible variations in microgeometry.

Relaxação de spin em nanoestruturas semicondutoras 0 e 2D
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-03-01) Laurindo, Vanderli Junior; Teodoro, Marcio Daldin; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5602634309535528; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3557-5555; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8894099902040228; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5882-7690
This thesis contains a compilation of the work developed and is divided into three main parts. The first part describes the homogeneous and inhomogeneous decoherence mechanisms of excitons in GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells. It was demonstrated that, for low temperatures, the main decoherence mechanisms are associated to the acoustic phonon scattering and short-range interactions. Fur- thermore, the results of magneto-photoluminescence with the luminescence re- solved with circular polarization, a modulation for one of the spin components of the exciton was presented as a result of a competition between short-range in- teractions and spin-flip scattering. In the second part of this thesis, the influence of substrate orientation on spin relaxation mechanism is detailed. Firtsly, it was shown that the oscillations in the integrated intensity of the luminescence in the high magnetic field regime are due to the relaxation process through the Landau levels of the electron and hole subbands, whereby the substrate orientation has no influence on these oscillations. Furthermore, it has been shown in the present study that spin inversion occurs only for the orientation of the GaAs (311)A sur- face, which is observed both with temperature and power dependence. Finally, a theoretical framework was created in order to explain the spin inversion, with- out the need of a conjecture as previously proposed. In the third and final part, the results of the magnetic control of carrier transfer are presented for the hybrid samples composed of InAs/GaAs quantum dot - InGaAs/GaAs quantum well separeted by different GaAs spacer layer. For the thicker spacer, the photolumi- nescence emission has the same behavior as the reference ones. In comparison, for the thinner hybrid sample, an increase in the integrated QW intensity was ob- served with an increasing in magnetic field, which was attributed to a change in the coupling between QD and QW as well as a change in the carrier dynamics.

This research aims to study the figure of João de Camargo in the city of Sorocaba-SP. He was a black man who lived the condition of a slave, went through abolition and survived from the beginning of the First Republic until the Vargas Era, becoming an important religious leader, especially of the black community. João de Camargo's black body went through violent processes in its existence, as it experienced the whole context of the European modernity project intertwined with the Brazilian development movement. This perception of the world, created since the long process of rationalization of European life and its overseas expansion, consolidated a relationship of alterity, establishing the white man as the “us” in opposition to the other understood as savage and uncivilized. This modernity was consolidated by the European imperialist project that imposed its civilizing process on the world – an extremely violent process that could not have existed without the support of a series of theories that can be summarized in the notion of the “white man's burden” of bringing civilization to other, savage, and inferior peoples. It was in this context that scientific racism developed, linking the backwardness of peoples to the condition of their race. Such theories arrived with great force in Brazil, especially in the historical period in which João de Camargo developed his religiosity in the Sorocaba society. This whole scenario created by modernity did not accept João de Camargo's ancestral knowledge as knowledge, nor as religion. This subjective construction of the subject that he had to survive and reinvent himself, in face of the whitening policy which the Brazilian elites believed to be the solution for the country's development, saw the black as the responsible for social backwardness and their bodies as something unwanted in the public space. It was in this context that João de Camargo created a space of survival and resistance for the black community in Sorocaba, a Capela Nosso Senhor do Bonfim. Throughout his life, João de Camargo earned respect and was known nationally as the Black Pope of Sorocaba. However, the advance of modernity did not stop and with his death, the city suffered with the arrival of progress, avenues, and real estate speculation. Gradually its history and memory became a point of dispute for some sectors of society. In the manifestation of the whitening of his cult, he is regarded as a spiritist medium; for others who regard him as a black leader, he brought the cults of the ancestors of Bantu and Yoruba matrices, who were present in that space materialized in his Chapel. Therefore, among the many threads of this memory about the life and struggle of João de Camargo to inscribe himself in a capitalist society with aspirations to the imported model of modernity, this work signals the restricted possibilities of access to black history in the city, since the subjectivity shaped by modernity crossed all the systematization of this past. Nevertheless, this text aspires to have brought more elements to the difficult understanding of the historical process through the daily life of a common man, a freed black man who reinscribed his destiny.

Introduction: The demographic and epidemiological transition of recent years has brought the need to adapt the health system to new demands, and palliative care (PC) is an alternative for treating patients affected by life-threatening illnesses in their entirety, aiming at their quality of life through the prevention and relief of suffering. One of the barriers to establishing palliative care is the lack of specific education, according to specialized bodies. Measures that explore aspects such as competence and knowledge in CP are essential to propose training strategies in the area, allowing professional self-assessment of their skills. The Brazilian self-efficacy scale in palliative care (SEPC-BR) seeks to assess students' self-efficacy and their perspective related to the practice of PC, being translated and validated into Brazilian Portuguese in 2020 with medical students. The interest of this study was to explore its psychometric properties so that it can be extended to the multidisciplinary team, given that PC has an interprofessional approach among its premises. Objectives: to analyze the psychometric properties of the Palliative Care Self-Efficacy Scale, the Brazilian version, among health professionals; evaluate the validity of the SEPC-Br convergent construct by correlating with the results obtained by the Palliative Care Health Professionals Educational Needs Scale (ESPC-Br); evaluate construct validity by confirmatory factor analysis; evaluate the reliability of the SEPC-Br by checking internal consistency using Cronbach's alpha. Method: Methodological study, carried out non-face-to-face in a virtual environment, with 167 health professionals from different areas. Three forms were applied, one for characterizing the participants, the SEPC-Br, and the ESPC-Br. The data were organized in Excel and processed by SPSS statistical software. Descriptive statistics, reliability analysis using Cronbach's alpha, and convergent construct validity using Spearman's correlation analysis were performed between the measurements obtained by SEPC-Br and ESPC-Br. Results: 181 responses were obtained on the form, 167 of which were valid for analysis. The majority (90.4%) of participants declared themselves trained in nursing, their ages ranged from 18 to 65 years old, with an average of 41.4 years old. 88% declared that they did not have specific training in CP. The mean SEPC-Br scale score was 1374.30 and the standard deviation was 612.84; for EPCS-Br the average was 72.2 and the standard deviation was 23.7. The total Cronbach's Alpha for SEPC-Br was 0.97. The convergent validity of the SEEPC-Br confirmed the hypothesis in the study, that the SEPC-Br and EPCS-Br measures were correlated from moderate to strong intensity, and the correlation coefficients between the scales ranged from 0.640 to 0.419 (p<0.001). Conclusion: The SEPC-BR presented high reliability and construct validity results among the health professionals investigated in this study, proving to be suitable for application with the multidisciplinary team.
