Conversão de plantio homogêneo de Araucaria angustifolia (Bertol.) Kuntze em floresta biodiversa, Capão Bonito, SP
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-03-03) Ramos, Marli; Piña-Rodrigues, Fátima Conceição Márquez; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1475369713141675; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4766999900863839
Biodiverse forests have originated from old homogeneous plantations. In the Araucaria Forest of the National Forest of Capão Bonito - SP, the following were evaluated for adults and juveniles: richness, diversity, evenness, importance value, degree of threat, successional aspects and similarity between adults and juveniles and of this study with nine others from the State of São Paulo. In 65 plots of 10 x 20 m, 1.3 ha, for the adult component – CA (Circumference at breast height – CAP ≥ 15cm), 2,055 individuals, 51 families, 110 genera and 198 species, 1,580.8 individuals.ha-1, 40.3 m2.ha-1 and 53 rare species (one individual), H' = 4.17, J = 0.79. For the juvenile component – CJ (total height ≥ 1 m and CAP < 15 cm), in 5 x 5 m subplots, 425 individuals, 32 families, 67 genera, 111 species and density of 2,698.4 ind.ha-1, H' = 4.16, J = 0.88. Three families stood out in CA and CJ: Myrtaceae, Lauraceae and Fabaceae. There was a predominance of late secondary species 43.7% of the total number of native species (complete binomial), 43.4% in CA and 46.6% in CJ. In importance value, nine out of 10 CA species are non-pioneers. There were six endangered species. There was similarity between CA and CJ, Jaccard = 0.45, Morisita-Horn = 0.73. And dissimilarity of this study with others from the Araucaria Forest in São Paulo State. Still, for the adult component, separating into the reforestations of 1945 (REF45), 1956 (REF56) and 1967 (REF67), was obtained the diameter (DBH, cm), the basal area per hectare (AB, m2.ha-1), the total height (Ht, m) and the density (D, ind.ha-1), in this order: REF45: 14.3; 39.7; 11.3; 1,561; REF56: 13.5; 39.9; 11.5; 1,690 and REF67: 17.3; 44.7; 13.4; 1,561. The diametric distribution, for the three reforestations, presented the “inverted-J” pattern of heterogeneous forests in species and age and the hypsometric distribution registered 46.6% of the total density in the interval between 7.4 and 13.1 m, resembling the natural Araucaria Forest. Araucaria angustifolia stood out in importance value. And the soils were very acidic, with low fertility, high concentration of aluminum, but with high cation exchange capacity, which reduces possible toxic effects to plants, indicating adaptability of the species to soils with nutritional deficiency and acidity.

Currently, advanced physicochemical processes require materials with a combination of properties not found in conventional materials. Materials formed by the association of organic and inorganic compounds are an alternative for the preparation of new materials and these with properties superior to those presented by the constituents when they act individually. Electrochemical immunosensors based on disposable screen-printed electrodes (SPEs) are a cheap, portable, sensitive and versatile option for clinical applications outside the laboratory environment and without the use of external reagents. In this context, in the present project a portable and disposable electrochemical immunosensor was developed for the detection of Spike protein (SP) in environmental (river water) and clinical samples (artificial saliva and blood serum), the sensor was based on a screen-printed electrode modified with carbon black base film and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). The experimental parameters, such as solution pH and parameters of the voltametric technique, were optimized for square-wave voltammetry (SWV). SW voltammograms were recorded after different incubation times, ranging from 10 to 150 min, in the presence of 7.65 ng mL−1 of SP solution. In this scenario, two defined calibration conditions were evaluated: one optimized with incubation of 120 min and another with incubation of SP of 10 min. To evaluate the performance/efficiency of the Immunosensor AuNPs-CB/PET-SPE to detecting the Spike protein of SARS-CoV-2, the positive samples under the 120 min incubation regime presented greater current loss and lower standard deviation values considering the measurements performed in triplicate, which demonstrate be a relevant result for the detection of SP in the proposed samples. Under optimized conditions, the biosensor presented detection limits (LODs) of 101 fg mL−1 and 46.2 fg mL−1 for incubation times of 10 min and 120 min, respectively. It is important to highlight that the final cost of the proposed immunosensor (US$ 0.29), proves its cost-benefit over other detection techniques/methods.

Despite the history of relevant participation of women in the development of computing, their presence in this market has declined. Other areas related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) have registered a distinct movement. In these, although women face challenges similar to those faced by those who are inserted in the computing market, there is a growth in their participation. Initiatives aimed at increasing female participation and diversifying the profile of students, professionals and people interested in computing are emerging, but in-depth studies on their motivations and how these initiatives are organized are still scarce. Some guiding questions for this research are: where does the motivation to participate in these initiatives come from? How do these initiatives propose to combat the disparity in women's participation in technology areas? Who is part of these initiatives? What have they achieved? How are they organized? Do they follow a feminist agenda? For this work, a comparative case study was implemented using an exploratory and descriptive methodology, with primary data collection via field research based on observation, questionnaires (survey) and semi-structured online interviews conducted by e-mail; secondary data were collected from documentary data sources through a mixed qualitative and quantitative research approach. With the aim of analyzing groups that work in networks for the inclusion of women and girls in computing in the city of São Carlos, this work seeks to understand their organizational structures, the motivations behind their existence, the impacts they generate, the challenges they face, the profile of their participants, whether or not they follow a feminist agenda and how they fit into the global agenda of diversity initiatives. The theoretical framework was constructed from the contributions of Science and Technology (S&T) gender studies in dialogue with the Social Studies of Science and Technology. The results of this work include the characterization of the groups PyLadies São Carlos and Grupo de Alunas de Ciências Exatas (GRACE) from the Institute of Mathematics and Computing Sciences (ICMC) of the University of São Paulo (USP) and the profile of their founders and participants, as well as the identification of factors that influenced the trajectories of such participants in view of the potentialities and limitations of said groups. It can be said that the motivations for participation are quite varied, the action takes place through events, posts on social media, among others, the organization of the groups differs in the sense of having or not a centrality of decisions. Most of the people that participates in the researched initiatives are young women, from the Southeast region, that are white and dont have any disabilities, which demonstrates that people from other races or outside that age group are underrepresented, in addition to that there is low male participation and little national representation. The impact achieved ranges from the positive experience of participating in the groups to the education of several girls and women. And the challenges found include the difficulty of following up activities to situations linked to segregation in spaces, surrounding the lack of incentive and representativeness since childhood, discrimination and violence. Faced with a global agenda of diversity initiatives in Technology, the groups are active agents of change, carrying with them the interests and expectations of institutions, but also the motivation of several people concerned with a transformation of society.

The general objective of this work is to address the reception of students with disabilities in Science and Biology Teaching in Basic Education, based on the mapping of dissertations and theses. For the composition of the corpus of analysis of this work, we used, as database, the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (DLTD). For the construction and development of this study, a qualitative methodology was chosen, considering the execution of a Systematic Mapping of the selected academic productions, as well as the contributions of Falbo (2018) and Vosgerau and Romanovski (2014), providing the composition of the corpus of analysis and production of results. Twelve articles published by DLTD were analyzed. The mapping of academic productions was carried out by reading and recording these works, which were chosen based on inclusion and exclusion criteria and segmented according to the theme addressed by each one. At first, they were divided into three groups that deal with the deficiencies worked on by the selected texts, namely intellectual and mental disabilities, visual disabilities, and students with disabilities in general. Subsequently, the dissertations were analyzed based on their general objectives, with which it was possible to gather them into three topics based on the theme discussed by the theses, namely “Conception and perception of the teacher in relation to the student with a disability”, “Importance of using pedagogical practices and resources for teaching students with disabilities” and “Other topics”. The analyzed academic productions point to the importance of educational reception for the teaching-learning of students with disabilities and how this reception facilitates interpersonal interactions and helps in the development of effective educational practices. They also show the need for continuing education for teachers, as it is through this knowledge that educators can produce pedagogical resources adapted for students with disabilities. About reception in the teaching of Science and Biology, only one thesis was found and with it is concluded that it is necessary to bring to the teaching of Biology practices that involve and benefit the student with disability, but that also include the student without disabilities and provide welcome for these groups of students, favoring teaching and learning on an equal basis for everyone.

Validação do pediatric quality of life inventory - stem cell transplant module para a população brasileira
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-03-03) Garcia, Luara Sandrin Engracia; Pfeifer, Luzia Iara; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9065968448027440; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1826-1968; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0288406482572602; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2546-3733
Introduction: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a complex medical procedure, whose basic principle is to destroy the diseased bone marrow and transfer normal progenitor cells to the individual, which can be autologous, syngeneic or allogeneic (related, unrelated or haploidentical). During treatment, patients and their families go through critical stages, where pain and Graft-versus-Host Disease (GVHD) are commonly described complications, which can lead to negative changes in their quality of life (QOL). Objective: The present study aims to validate the PedsQL Stem Cell Transplant Module (PedsQL–SCTM) for use with the Brazilian population. Method: Methodological, cross-sectional, non-experimental study of quantitative analysis. Forty patients aged between 2 and 18 years and their guardians, representatives of HSCT between 2016 and 2022, undergoing outpatient follow-up, participated in this research. Data analysis in the validation phase was carried out by measuring reliability, reproducibility and internal consistency and factor analysis of the instrument, submitted by Cronbach's Alpha Statistics Test and Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) with Kaiser's aid. Concurrent validity was measured between the PedsQL-SCTM (quality of life) and the Pediatric Assessment of Disability Inventory - Computer Adaptive Test (PEDI-CAT) (functionality). Results: Inter-rater reliability and test-retest reliability demonstrated excellent agreement (ICC = 1,000 (p <0.000)). Internal consistency was divided into satisfactory and unsatisfactory results, with Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the total score being 0.851, indicating high reliability. As for the confirmatory factor analysis, 70% of the items had adequate factor loading. Regarding concurrent validity, ICC values below 0.4 indicate that there was no correlation between the PedsQL-SCTM and the PEDI-CAT, indicating that both assess different constructs. The average scores of the questionnaires answered by the age groups from 8 to 18 years were 76.65. As for the questionnaire answered by those responsible, comprising the age group from 2 to 7 years, the average score was 76.73. Conclusion: Statistical analysis indicated satisfactory results, confirming that the instrument has the necessary psychometric properties for reliability and validity and, therefore, is applicable to Brazilian children/adolescents undergoing HSCT, as well as their guardians.

    Natureza e Ontologia em Merleau-Ponty
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-03-03) Gomes, Rodrigo Benevides Barbosa; Moutinho, Luiz Damon Santos; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9475267722538751; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2282727419885115
We present Merleau-Ponty’s indirect ontology in order to highlight the influence of Friedrich Schelling, Ferdinand de Saussure and Alfred North Whitehead. In other words, the research seeks to examine the ontology of the Être Brut from the standpoint of Merleau-Ponty’s reading of Schelling’s Naturphilosophie, Saussure’s structuralism and Whitehead’s metaphysics. From then on, we pursue our main goal, namely, to demonstrate the discrepancy between the ontology of Flesh and the ontology developed during the 1940’s. In short, through the examination of what is outlined in The Visible and the Invisible and Nature: Course Notes from the Collège de France it is shown the incompatibility of Merleau-Ponty’s ontology from the 1950’s and the one advanced in The Structure of Behavior and Phenomenology of Perception.

Objective: to analyze nursing students' perceptions about their professional training for health care of LGBTQIA+ people. Methods: qualitative study, conducted with 19 nursing students through semi-structured interviews. Data were processed and worked through lexical analysis using IRaMuTeQ® software. Results: the textual corpus gave rise to two categories: professional nursing training on health of LGBTQIA+ people (subdivided into: curricular spaces addressing health of LGBTQIA+ people and Formative deficits for health care of LGBTQIA+ people) and Extracurricular spaces of professional training on health of LGBTQIA+ people (subdivided into: informal and extracurricular learning on health of LGBTQIA+ people and Work context and autonomy in learning about LGBTQIA+ health). Conclusion: addressing the health of LGBTQIA+ people in the training of nurses needs to expand beyond specific classes, which demands the creation of spaces within the curricular matrices that address the specificities required by this population, without, however, relegating them to extracurricular activities. Contributions to practice: problematization of the training of nurses for the health care of LGBTQIA+ people.

Objective: to identify the socio demographic profile of cases of hepatitis B and C in the black and brown population in the Regional Health Department III (DRS III). Methods: This is a quantitative, epidemiological prevalence study, which descriptively analyzed Hepatitis B and C data notified in the Notifiable Diseases Information System and accessed on the online platform of the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System in the period from 2011 to 2020 of the 24 municipalities of DRS III. Results: 319 cases of hepatitis B and 919 of hepatitis C were identified. Of these type B, 110 (34.5%) were in the black and brown population and another 231 (25.2%) respectively, of hepatitis C. Males were the most frequent in the general population and the black and brown population, 2.26% of the total had no information about race and color. Conclusion: Although 56.1% of the Brazilian population is black and brown, which would denote similar percentages in the occurrence of injuries, it is believed that many cases in this population are still underreported due to injustices and iniquities regarding accessibility to the right to health experienced in the past but still reflect today.

Background: Urinary incontinence (UI) is the involuntary loss of urine that may be associated with symptoms related to stress and urgency. It is a clinical condition that impacts the women’s quality of life around the world, with a prevalence of between 25-45%. Obesity and overweight are identified as the main risk factors for UI, therefore improving the assessment of total body composition and in specific regions could help to understand the association between fat and UI symptoms. Thus, a gold standard instrument for assessing body composition, such as dual-emission x-ray densitometry (DXA), can contribute to obtaining important information about the accumulation of total fat and in specific regions, such as the android, visceral, gynoid and pelvic. Objective: To evaluate the intra and inter examiner reliability of pelvic body composition measurements in women based on DXA images; and verify the association between fat located in the android, gynoid, pelvic and visceral regions with female UI symptoms. Materials and Methods: Cross-sectional study performed with women aged 18 and 49. The reliability of the assessment of the pelvic region using DXA was performed by two examiners. Intra-examiner reliability was performed by Examiner 1 who analyzed the image on 2 days separated by a 1-week interval. For inter-examiner reliability, Examiner 2 analyzed the images on a different day than Examiner 1. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) was calculated considering ICC≥0.75 excellent; 0.40≤ ICC <0.75 satisfactory; and ICC <0.40 bad, with a significance level of 5% and a confidence interval of 95%. To assess UI symptoms, participants answered the 3-Incontinence Questions (3IQ-Br), the Urinary Discomfort Inventory (UDI-6) and the Urinary Impact Questionnaire (UIQ-7). Body composition was measured using dual emission X-ray densitometry (DXA). The results of the DXA report of total, android, visceral, gynoid and pelvic fat mass were used. The statistical analyzes used were: descriptive analysis, independent t test, simple logistic regression and multiple linear regression. Results: The intra-examiner and inter-examiner reliability were considered excellent, with ICC above 0.84 (p<0.001) and 0.97 (p<0.001), respectively. Women with stress urinary incontinence (SUI) had a higher concentration of total, android, gynoid and visceral fat (p < 0.05) compared to those who did not report the presence of UI. Univariate regression analysis showed that fat accumulation in the whole body and in the android, gynoid, and visceral regions increased by 0.4; 4.4%, 2.6% and 31.4% times, respectively, the chance of the woman having SUI. In the multiple linear regression model, it was found that visceral fat mass increases the chances of developing SUI by 51% (Odds Ratio 1.51, 95% CI). Visceral fat mass concentration increased discomfort related to urinary symptoms by 16.0% and impact on daily activities in women with urinary symptoms by 9.3%. Conclusion: The intra- and inter-examiner reliability of the Pelvis ROI shows great reliability of the measurement of the pelvic region by DXA images. The accumulation of adipose tissue in the android, gynoid and visceral regions increases the chance of having SUI, however the concentration of visceral fat mass seems to be the factor that is most related to UI and the increase in discomfort and impact on women's daily activities with urinary symptoms.

Objective: to describe an experience report on a virtual support group for university mothers and fathers. Method: this is an experience report, from the perspective of an indigenous university mother, through her memories, in the participation in conversation circles and meetings during the informal and virtual meetings formed by a support group in a social network (via facebook), entitled Grupo de Mães e Pais Universitários (GMPU) at a federal university in the interior of São Paulo, during the period from 2014 to 2022. family coexistence center, installation of changing rooms, children's access to the university restaurant. This group played a relevant role in winning some claims, although there are still some outstanding issues. It was found that, in the pandemic period of COVID-19, constant and permanent struggles were impacted by this event, with evasion of participants occurring, due to the completion of graduation course by some mothers and social isolation, which weakened the group's active strength. . Final considerations: it is concluded that in addition to the pandemic episode that made it difficult to implement the group, the university is not prepared to receive mothers with their young children. The importance of the group's return is emphasized, as it is a reference for the next university mothers who need a support network in the academic context and after the first waves of COVID-19.

Ecologizar a memória: sertão, antropologia e crise ecológica no século XXI
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-03-03) Pereira, Renan Martins; Geiger, Amir; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6912091873348755; Villela, Jorge Luiz Mattar; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8301325600502054; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1014932306220496
Memory and ecology are the subjects that form the fundamental ethnographic relationship of this thesis. My central argument is that Anthropology has distanced memory from its ecological and environmental issues. Faced with this theoretical finding, the challenge of this work is to try to reverse this supposed scenario of ecological ineffectiveness of memory in four different ways. In Chapter I, the actions of memory are guided and rhythmed by the desolation of the world and by the planetary ecological crisis of the 21st century. In Chapter II, I intend to give vigor to the forces of creation of a memory directed against oblivion and social isolation produced by the Covid-19 pandemic. In Chapter III, I intend to analyze the memory in Floresta, a municipality in the hinterland of Pernambuco, seeking to understand particularly how the historical memory of conflicts unfolds in this location in a historical memory of traditions. As an exclusively traditional form of memory, the old sertão cowboys and their experiences from ancient times make up the arguments of the fourth and final chapter. In Chapter IV, I elaborate an analysis of how the memories of the drought unfold temporally in a memory of plenty of the old cattle ranches. Facing the contemporary scenario of successive deaths of the environment (burning forests, mineral waste, toxic mud, epidemics, pandemics, droughts and desertification), I defend the hypothesis according to which the act of remembering is not a mere regression to the past. The past is itself a present element in the processes of creation, composition and improvement of reality. Henri Bergson's philosophy thus gains a privileged place in this thesis for offering to ethnography a conception of memory that cannot be reduced to the social forces of reproduction and representation. Above all, remembering is an ecological and vital act. It’s a way of keeping alive the relationships with the world.

Objective: To verify the contributions of the use of the "blindfolded eyes" technique in clinical simulation on verbal communication and self-confidence of nursing students in critical patient care in simulated clinical scenarios. Method: The study was divided into three stages, stage 1: construction of simulated clinical scenarios based on Bloom's Taxonomy, structured according to Fabri et al. and the American Heart Association Guidelines. In step 2: validation of the checklist for evaluation of the participants in the simulated clinical scenario by experts. In step 3: development and offering of a free workshop to undergraduate nursing students, about nursing care to patients in critical situations, involving theoretical training on the theme, skill training and participation in simulated clinical scenarios. As instrument of analysis, two instruments were applied pre and post intervention, being them the checklist of evaluation of knowledge, skills and attitudes in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and the scale "Self- confidence Scale (SCE)" Portuguese version. Results: In relation to the first phase of the research, five simulated clinical scenarios were built. In the second phase, a total of 17 experts participated through the Delphi technique, and after two rounds of validation, the checklist for evaluating the participants in the simulated clinical scenarios was developed and validated. The third stage, referring to the training of skills and performance of the clinical simulation and simulated scenarios and application of the instruments pre and post intervention, showed that the mean of correct answers after the simulation is significantly different from the mean of correct answers pre-simulation, thus the individuals presented gains in knowledge and confidence between the two moments of the research. Conclusion: The simulation added to the blindfold technique and the skills training can collaborate to the development of skills required during the critical patient care, such as communication and leadership.

The treatment of skin wounds and a fast and effective healing process results in savings on medical costs and also reduces the incidence of functional and aestethical complications. Bilayer membranes are promising materials for usage as wound dressings because its different porous layers simultaneously allow the protection against infections, air and humidity flow, and also promote a favorable environment for cellular adhesion and growth. The natural rubber (NR) is a polymer extensively used in the manufacturing of biomaterials, but very little explored in the production of micro-nanofibers which could compose bilayer nonwovens. This research project proposed the development of a bilayer nonwoven, using NR as one of the components, through the solution blow spinning technique. The produced material is composed of: an inferior layer, destined to the direct contact with the wounded area, made out of a blend of NR, poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and polyethyleneglicol (PEG) at the respective ratio of 2:1:3 w/w; and a superior layer, for external coating of the wound dressing and protection against infections, composed of PLA with incorporated ZnO nanoparticles (NPs), at the tested concentrations of 1%, 2.5% and 5% w/w relative to the PLA, and later aspersion of Ag NPs suspension. It was observed that, although the usage of PEG modifies the inferior layer’s morphology, it presents moderate hydrophobicity, adequate to cellular adhesion (contact angle ranging from 51,95 ± 0,64 to 83,99 ± 2,26 for the samples containing Ag). The usage of PEG combined with ZnO mechanically weakens the material, although the resistance is recovered by increasing the ZnO load, and the Ag NPs provide antimicrobial properties to the material through direct contact. The presence and distribution of Ag and ZnO NPs was confirmed through X-ray energy dispersion spectroscopy, and the absence of chemical reactions between the components was verified through Fourier Transformed infrared spectroscopy. Thus, the nonwoven bilayer could be successfully obtained by a simple and low-cost production process, without the need for chemical modifications of the components, aiming at potential application in wound dressings for skin lesions.

Motivated by the lack of musical activities in classroom and by the lack of interest in teaching physics mechanically static, aims to stimulate the musical sensitivity in side school outlook, using physical explanations to specify the wavy phenomenon in berimbau. Not only it is possible to get an opposite reaction, that the study will stimulate physics through the music. Upon a series of classes that theorized the concept of waves, sound waves, wavy phenomenon, wriggling strings, audio pipes, it becomes possible to detail the acoustic principle of a berimbau, that has a simple way to work: its acoustic box (calabash) vibrates in resonance with the string. The modes of vibration in musical instruments can be known and recognized using basic math formulas in taking into account the Berimbau dimensions. It is expected to the children to be active subjects able to measure, calculate, discuss and infer the harmonics present in the instrument. We seek to make clear the sound perception and appreciation linked to wave length in the instrument, to capture an afterthought physical-musical of the learner in order to stimulate a sensibility capable to note a simple and inseparable mathematical nature of the instrument. The target audience of these issue is high school students, specifically, the second year of high school.

Studies have pointed out that adolescence tends to be more vulnerable to the experience of psychological distress, which has been intensified by epidemiological studies carried out in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, which indicate an increase in the rates of psychic suffering in this population. However, many times, the production of knowledge in the field of Mental Health tends to emphasize the identification of psychiatric symptoms and diagnoses in this phase of development without considering the complexity of the interrelation between social, cultural and contextual factors that surround the experience and subjectivity of the teenage people. In this way, carrying out studies and practices that allow listening to adolescents and considering their voices regarding their own experience and possibilities of care can contribute to the debate and propositions of policies and interventions that are more effective. In this direction, the objective of this research was to explore and analyze with adolescents how their mental health was in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the care strategies used in that scenario. A qualitative research was carried out. Participants were ten female adolescents, students of a state public school, located in a socially vulnerable territory in a city in the interior of the state of São Paulo. Data production took place in person at the school, from five meetings, in which awareness and communication strategies were used, and verbal and non-verbal activities were carried out, including those present in the daily lives of the participants and the school, such as: artistic activities, writing, cutting and collages, drawings and conversation circles. The results revealed that, for the participants, mental health is related to “feeling good” and performing activities that give them pleasure, such as listening to music, drawing, watching movie series, reading, among others. In addition, they highlight the negative impacts of the pandemic on their mental health, which translates into impairments in socialization, in carrying out meaningful day-to-day activities, in school performance and in their relationship with school, concerns with themselves and with people relationships and family conflicts. Some participants also reported the need to use psychotropic medications and psychotherapy. Still as a result of the study, it is pointed out that the participants suggested that the possibility of carrying out activities in the school environment aimed at promoting mental health, such as conversation circles and carrying out group activities (watching movies, playing games, cooking) could be beneficial. The results produced demonstrated an expanded understanding of mental health, beyond symptoms and mental disorders, which dialogues with data from the literature on mental health and psychosocial care for children and adolescents. It was also possible to verify the familiarity with the theme, which leads to a debate on the medicalization of life and adolescence, as well as identifying, with the participants themselves, clues that can subsidize the development of care and health promotion strategies of this population that are more participative and contextualized to their needs.

The social, functional and structural changes in the individual as he ages generate socioeconomic and public health impacts. Elderly people demand specialized care and actions to prevent negative outcomes related to aging, such as frailty. Given the complexity of the multidimensional processes of fragility and its negative impacts, it is important to verify the aspects related to it. Hearing loss, as a prevalent condition in the elderly population with consequent emotional and social harm, such as restriction to participation, should be considered in studies with elderly populations. Thus, this dissertation aimed to verify whether there is an association between auditory participation restriction and frailty in elderly people. For this, a cross-sectional study was carried out with 238 elderly people (age ≥ 60 years), which resulted in two articles. Article 1: “Hearing Handicap and Frailty in Community Elderly People” whose objective was to verify the relationship between auditory handicap and frailty in community-dwelling elderly people. The Hearing Handicap Inventory for the Elderly - Screening version - HHIE-S questionnaire was applied to assess participation restriction through auditory handicap. Frailty was assessed according to the Frailty Phenotype proposed by Fried et al. As a result, there was a greater restriction on participation in pre-frail and frail individuals, compared to non-frail individuals. Article 2: “Restriction to participation and self-perception of hearing loss: association with physical, cognitive and social frailty in elderly people”. It aimed to verify the association between physical, cognitive and social frailty with the restriction of auditory participation in elderly people. Physical frailty was assessed according to the five criteria of the Phenotype of Frailty, cognitive frailty was characterized by the simultaneous presence of physical frailty and cognitive decline, as indicated by the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), and social frailty was assessed by an index of five questions from social domains. The Hearing Handicap Inventory for the Elderly - Screening version - HHIE-S questionnaire was applied to quantify the restriction to auditory participation. The results showed that the restriction on auditory participation was greater in groups with physical, cognitive and social frailty. Using the univariate logistic regression model with the calculation of odds ratio, it was found that at each point indicative of restriction to auditory participation, there was a 1.05 times increase in the chance of the individual belonging to the physical frailty group and 1.033 belonging to the group of cognitive fragility. There was no association between restriction of auditory participation and cognitive frailty. Thus, this dissertation showed that the restriction on auditory participation is related to physical, cognitive and social weaknesses, however, the associations were verified only between the restriction on participation and physical and cognitive weaknesses.

INTRODUCTION: thyroid cancer commonly appears in women over 40 years of age and its treatment is total thyroidectomy. The consequence of this is chronic hypothyroidism, which results in significant physiological and emotional changes that require the maintenance of health. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the existence of relationships between quality of life and stress in adult and elderly women after total thyroidectomy and their perceptions of health conditions. METHOD: This is a quantitative-qualitative study, carried out with 60 women who answered the ThyPro-39 questionnaire, which assesses the quality of life in the face of thyroid disease, and the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS 10), which measures the stress perception. At the end of the form, they received an invitation to participate in a semi-structured interview. The link to the form with the questionnaires was posted on Facebook pages about hypothyroidism in Brazil. The data received statistical treatment. All ethical precepts were respected. RESULTS: Of the 60 participants, 38.3% completed postgraduate studies and 63.3% were married, with a mean age of 53.09 years. Of these, 85% had papillary carcinoma, 71.7% underwent radioiodine therapy, with an average treatment time of 7.35 years after thyroidectomy, and 51.7% had COVID-19. As for the perception of quality of life, it appears that the average scores ranged from 48.93 to 61.95, with the highest scores in the domains: fatigue (m=61.95), cognitive problems (m=49, 83), emotional factors (m=52.42), anxiety (m=50.78) and depression (m=48.87), indicating worse perception of quality of life in these dimensions. As for the perception of stress, the mean total PSS-10 score was 27.47. The relationship between stress and the participants' quality of life was confirmed, with statistical significance in the following domains: fatigue (r=0.278; p=0.032), anxiety (r=0.537; p≤0.001), depression (r=0.620 ; p≤0.001), emotional factors (r=0.635; p≤0.001), impact on social life (r=0.601; p≤0.001) in everyday life (r=0.620; p≤0.001), appearance (r=0.286 ; p=0.027) and overall quality of life (r= 0.424; p=0.001). With regard to qualitative data, thirteen participants chose to participate in the interview, with these data we characterized, through the analysis of Bardin's speech, the perception of quality of life and stress. We built the analysis categories: “health condition and pandemic”, “daily life and diagnosis”, “post-thyroidectomy and self-perception of quality of life and stress”. CONCLUSION: It is concluded that there is a relationship between the perception of quality of life and the level of stress of the evaluated women, verifying a loss of quality of life in general, with the worsening of anxiety and the symptoms of hypothyroidism. In this sense, finding good reception in the doctor-patient relationship and the creation of coping strategies such as emotional, physical and nutritional self-care, with the aim of achieving the restoration of biopsychosocial well-being in the face of the experience of cancer treatment, is necessary.

House cleaning is an important way for women to participate in the labor market. In Brazil, there are two types of cleaners: housekeepers receive monthly payment and house cleaners are paid by the day. The main objective of this thesis was to describe the sociodemographic, health and occupational profile of a sample of housekeepers and house cleaners in Brazil and how they were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This investigation was based on two studies. Study I describe the sociodemographic, health and occupational profile of a sample of workers, a cross-sectional study that included 20 housekeepers and 29 house cleaners. House cleaners were younger, received lower wages, had longer daily working hours and had more homes to clean in comparison to housekeepers. The most reported health problems were obesity (56%), systemic arterial hypertension (47%) and spinal problems (34%). Musculoskeletal symptoms were frequent in the lower back and upper limbs. Around 51% reported the use of analgesics. The focus of Study II was to describe the differences that occurred in terms of the occupational and health profile of housekeepers and day laborers and how the pandemic influenced these changes from the perspective of the complexity paradigm. Data collected in 2018 and 2020, with triangulation of methods, 29 house cleaners participated. The changes caused by the pandemic in the work context were in terms of job losses, reduction in workload and on payment, especially for house cleaners. Housekeepers had to negotiate strategies such as advancing vacations or reducing working hours. Conflicts were identified regarding exposure and health care, reduction in the use of public transport. In personal life, the pandemic influenced social interaction and family dynamics and access to health care. This context is added to the changes that occurred in family dynamics. The results of this thesis show the vulnerability of this work category in terms of education level, workload, salary, health conditions and lack of social security. These changes aroused conflicts and reflections both in work relationships and in the perspective of exposure itself, pointing out how much this work is marked by challenges, vulnerabilities and invisibility.

This dissertation aims to present research about Improving classroom practices for Mathematics Teaching based on the Problem-Solving Methodology applied in the analysis of the Diagnostic evaluation results. The study started in 2021 at the gradual return after school isolation imposed by the pandemic of COVID - 19, in 2020 and 2021, with a selection of problems from SARESP and one OBMEP problem, in order to understand the concept of Diagnostic Evaluation in the knowledge of students returning to the school. The phases of the Problem-Solving Methodology were used to evaluate the gaps in the content knowledge and skills of students from 7th graders of a public municipal school. The study in 2021 reflected in Diagnostic Evaluation when the school returned in 2022, as a base for the lesson planning for presential classes resumed with material from the São Paulo State curriculum. The 2021 study made it possible for the author to interpret the results of quantitative diagnosis through the resolution phases in proposed problems, helping to connect them to the gaps detected in the concept knowledge and skills brought by students when compared to the expected learning established by the curriculum for the level. This dissertation presents as result of the research the author’s learning about how the phases of problem-solving are related to formative evaluation along the regular school calendar, having as consequence the understanding about better teaching practice in the classroom that focus on the efficient development of skills established by curriculum, considered the students´ prior knowledge and needs.
