(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-06-02) Concentino, Luiz Henrique; Zazzetta, Marisa Silvana; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2350656835896699; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6544-767X; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0945601633029600; https://orcid.org/0009-0005-6882-0077
The descriptive and exploratory research was carried out in Social Assistance Reference Centers (CRAS) of a city in the interior of the state of São Paulo. The CRAS performs basic social protection services in the territory, offers among the services offered to the population, opportunity of coexistence for people through the Service of Coexistence and Strengthening of Ties. The target audience of the research are elderly people who participated in the Service of Coexistence and Strengthening of Bonds. The objective is to describe the perception of elderly people about participation in the Service of Coexistence and Strengthening of Bonds, at the moment before the Covid-19 pandemic, considering strengths and challenges of face-to-face experiences, as well as verifying the existence of relationships between sociodemographic variables, mood and social support in social isolation in the Covid-19 pandemic. The theoretical framework used is based on historical-dialectical materialism. Data collection was performed with a sample of 30 elderly individuals in person. For the interview, a semi-structured questionnaire was used and two screening instruments were applied: the Minimum Map of Elderly Relationships (MMRI) and the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS). The results of the GDS showed that 26.7% presented signs of depressive symptoms and 73.3% did not present depressive signs. There was a moderate correlation between those who showed signs of depressive symptoms and younger elderly. It can also be identified that elderly who indicated perception of medium/low social support in the MMRI in emotional function (often), showed signs of mild depressive symptoms in their majority. It can be concluded that public policies offered to the elderly population, such as social groups, are spaces that offer social support, in addition to providing experiences in positive and pleasurable activities and thus end up benefiting mental health.

The National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), the National Environmental Education Policy (PNEA), and the 2030 Agenda are documents that have pointed towards contemporary good educational practices. In this regard, the aim of this study was to analyze to what extent the Plurianual Management Plan (PPG) of the State Technical School (ETEC) in Ibaté-SP encompasses pedagogical and technical-scientific aspects in favor of Environmental Education (EE) based on reference documents. To achieve this, the study conducts a specific survey of literature convergence, identifies favorable aspects of science, technology, and pedagogical practices in EE, and analyzes recommendations from the BNCC, PNEA, and 2030 Agenda related to the practices developed in the Political-Pedagogical Project (PPP) and PPG. Methodologically, this study begins with scientific and academic investigation, alongside a thorough analysis of the listed documents. This approach reveals convergence and the presence of positive aspects among the documents, including the use of various technical approaches. This analysis emphasizes the need to strengthen EE both in theoretical and practical realms in the daily school context, recognizing its significance in cultivating environmental awareness and shaping active citizens in environmental advocacy. By presenting this analysis, the study aims to contribute to the enhancement of education quality in the school environment and to promote sustainable practices beyond the school community. Furthermore, it aims to validate the construction of new knowledge in Science, Technology, and Society (STS) through the identification of potential gaps and challenges in the process, stimulating reflection on a more conscious, critical, and sustainability-committed organizational culture.

Sporotrichosis is a zoonosis caused by Sporothrix spp., a fungus that causes a subcutaneous mycosis which can become systemic in immunocompromised individuals. Conventional treatment is based on the prolonged use of antifungals, which can cause many side effects and, to improve on this, it is necessary to study efficient alternatives. The present study aims to show the effectiveness of Antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy (aPDT) using curcumin as a photosensitizer in the control of S. brasiliensis and S. schenckii, and Candida albicans as a comparative parameter for results. In addition to showing the best parameters for combining aPDT with traditional antifungals against these microorganisms. The fungi were illuminated via a Biotable® (lighting device with 24 evenly distributed LEDs) at a wavelength of 450 nm and a light dose of 31.5 J/cm² with photosensitizer concentrations ranging from 0.75 to 150 μg/mL of curcumin. After determining the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of the itraconazole, ketoconazole and potassium iodide, antifungal therapy was combined with aPDT to verify whether subinhibitory doses of these drugs would be able to eliminate Sporothrix spp. Concentrations of 1.5 to 15 μg/mL of curcumin were used, and the dosages of the drugs reducing the dose from half of the MIC values obtained. An efficient protocol for the inactivation of all microorganisms studied was found with a single application of aPDT and with aPDT combined with conventional treatment. The best results were obtained with aPDT application prior to antifungals, causing the total elimination of the Sporothrix spp. in addition to C. albicans, even with underdoses of both the photosensitizer and antifungal drugs. To better understand the impact of the order of therapies, studies were made of the absorption spectrum of individual compounds and how the combination could influence the dynamics of photobleaching of these compounds. The present study suggests that aPDT using curcumin as a photosensitizer may be a promising alternative to combat sporotrichosis. This treatment would be especially effective in veterinary medicine to be applied in cats as an individual therapy or as a coadjuvant. In the combination of therapies, in vitro protocols result in a synergistic effect in the inactivation of microorganisms. This could improve the treatment of the disease, with a reduction in both the recuperation time and dosage of drugs used, significant benefits of this approach are overall cost reductions and lessened side effects due to preventing the prolonged use of antifungals, while achieving an effective overall treatment.

(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-06-02) Duarte, Maria Raquel Barbosa; Masiero, Érico; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2691827106518167; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-8665-335X; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4822460818474592; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4576-6125
Could the city contribute to the promotion of mental health? Would the availability and the quality of public open spaces enable their use for therapeutic purposes? The research objective is to investigate how outdoor recreation spaces can be used in mental health care - based on deinstitutionalization, on restoring community ties, on independence and on the psychosocial inclusion of the person in mental distress. This study aimed to identify different practices in the process of psychosocial rehabilitation held in open spaces; to verify the pros and cons of public open spaces in Ribeirão Preto, SP, Brazil in fostering CAPS users’ autonomy, well-being, and coexistence. The research contributes to the discussions on urban quality focusing on people in psychological distress. To this end, the research method consisted in compiling a history of mental health care facilities in the city since the 1940s until the establishment of the current Psychosocial Care Network. The integration between urban and mental health policies was verified in legislation at the national and local levels. Subsequently, plans and projects aimed at promoting mental health were analyzed. Next, we carried out a systematic review of the literature on therapeutic activities developed in open spaces in the Brazilian context, and the spatial characteristics that favor them. Lastly, leisure spaces around the Psychosocial Care Centers in Ribeirão Preto were evaluated using quali-quantitative criteria. The six criteria are: availability of leisure spaces close to mental health services, accessibility by public transport, pedestrian accessibility, land use, vegetation shading and availability of urban furniture. Information on these criteria was obtained through document analysis and on-site data collection of leisure spaces attributes. Based on the established diagnosis, guidelines related to the spatial dimension of Mental Health were indicated. Eight out of the twenty-one public open spaces studied were considered adequate. The main inadequacies of these places are related to the lack of accessibility by public transport and the absence of adequate urban furniture.

Effect of measurement errors on double sampling S² control chart
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-06-02) Couto, Giselle Elias; Oprime, Pedro Carlos; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9291517431456908; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6213-2223; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3061782528251400; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-9248-6447
Product quality can be understood as inversely proportional to the variability in its production process. The control chart is a well-established statistical tool for quantifying and analyzing this process' variability based on observed information about some of its measurable characteristics. To simplify the control chart application, some researchers and users assume that the data used to evaluate the process is accurate. However, since the construction and use of control charts are based on measurement and no measurement system is perfect, errors in the measured data are inevitable. Recent studies indicate that the Double Sampling control chart can be an alternative for process monitoring. However, there is still a lack of studies that investigate the impact of measurement errors on Double Sampling control chart to monitor process variability. Based on the preceding, the present work aims to study how the performance of the Double Sampling S² control chart is affected by the presence of measurement errors. Initially, a systematic review of the literature is proposed in order to explore studies on the subject. The main methodology of the research is mathematical modeling and simulation. A design modeling for considering measurement errors in the Double Sampling S² control chart is proposed. The impact on the average run length (ARL) for different measurement error values is verified through simulation. Using a genetic algorithm, we propose an optimization study of the Double Sampling S² control chart for operation with measurement errors. Finally, a simulation example is presented to verify using the Double Sampling S² chart with the optimized parameters. The results indicate that measurement error deteriorates the performance of the Double Sampling S² chart, and the impact rises as measurement error increases. The simulation analysis showed the advantage of using the optimized Double Sampling S² chart, particularly for larger measurement errors. The present study contributes to the practical application knowledge of the Double Sampling S² control chart, providing parameters for its use in the presence of measurement errors.

Estigma relacionado à Tuberculose: aplicação da Escala Tuberculosis-Related Stigma
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-06-02) Lucenti, Laís Xavier de; Protti-Zanatta, Simone Teresinha; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6772128930979370; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3061196869852347; https://orcid.org/0009-0007-6920-6970
Tuberculosis is a serious public health problem worldwide, it is estimated that in 2021, in the world, 10.6 million people will develop TB and 1.4 million will die from the disease. There are factors that interfere with adherence to treatment, such as the length of treatment being six months, non-acceptance of the disease, resistance to follow-up at health units, incorrect use of medications, and social stigma. The objective of this study was to investigate the stigma associated with tuberculosis, from the perspectives of the community and the patient in relation to the disease. This is a cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, carried out in the city of São Paulo, in Basic Health Units. The Tuberculosis-Related Stigma scale was applied to 69 individuals with pulmonary tuberculosis who had been on Directly Observed Treatment for more than 15 days. In the first stage of the study, we carried out a bibliographical survey to highlight the need to study tuberculosis and the stigma surrounding tuberculosis, and the second part of the study presents the statistical analysis of the collected data. The results indicate that of the 69 individuals, 46 (66.7%) agree that people prefer not to have someone with TB living in their neighborhood, 37 (53.6%) agree that the population keeps distance from people with TB and think that they cause disgust, 38 (55.1%) of the subjects agree that people do not want people with TB to play with their children, and do not want to talk to someone who has Tuberculosis, 29 (42.0%) agree that people with TB keeps distance from others to avoid transmission of the bacteria, 32 (46.4%) agree that people with TB feel hurt by the way others react when they know they have TB, and 29 (42.0%) strongly agree that people with TB choose carefully who they tell about their disease. The statistical analysis of data from the application of the scale shows that the scale measures the stigma associated with tuberculosis, which is associated with fear and prejudice.

Platforms based on semiconductors for application in quantum computing
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2023-06-02) Cunha, Iann; Castelano, Leonardo Kleber; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1397190485811267; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4746-3657; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7282573279070179; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2634-9166
This thesis is composed of three parts. In the first part, a study of transport in semiconductor nanowires is carried out, in which the multichannel scattering occurs in a certain finite region, providing a reentrance in the conductance. This reentrance is analyzed in zero magnetic field configuration for cases where there is a strong spin-orbit coupling and for a structural deformation in the nanowire, where it suffers a localized expansion. Furthermore, both cases are also investigated in the presence of a magnetic field, where the reentrance also appears in higher energy channels. In the second part of this thesis, machine learning is applied to successfully determine physical parameters of two qubits in coupled semiconductor quantum dots, with the aim of locally measuring the qubits and reducing the necessary measurements performed in the laboratory. In the third part of the thesis, the study focuses on the interaction of distant qubits formed by quantum dots. These qubits are modeled by a spin chain with nearest neighbor interactions and the goal is to implement SWAP and CNOT quantum logic gates in this spin network. Finally, by using SWAP gates, it is possible to propagate quantum information along the spin chain. When noise effects are taken into account, there is a relevant difference in the order of application of the logic gates, which leads to an increase or decrease in the effectiveness of the application of quantum gates.
