In recent decades, there has been an intensification of social and environmental concerns, especially in the business sphere. Environmental responsibility, social justice and ethical governance (ESG) have taken over corporate strategies, becoming crucial elements for organizational survival and prosperity. At the same time, the relevance of integrated business management systems (ERP) is highlighted, which have the capacity to harmonize a wide range of commercial processes, from production to end customer service in order to guarantee the full functioning of the organization. In this context, the present study proposes a holistic analysis, supported by ERP, on the prospect of incorporating ESG themes into organizational reality. To achieve this objective, the research seeks to answer the following question: “How can ERP systems support and transform corporate environmental and social management?” The research was divided into three approaches: literature review, data collection and documentary analysis of cases. The results obtained significantly corroborate the contribution of integrated management systems to improving ESG in organizations. Furthermore, opportunities stand out for more in-depth studies on the social and governance, hitherto explored in a limited way. Overall, the need for a comprehensive approach was found, which involves collaboration between different stakeholders, continuous monitoring and adaptation to changes in ESG expectations. Finally, opportunities for integrating artificial intelligence in this context are highlighted, advancing the efficiency of the integration process.

A medical degree goes far beyond the gathering of theoretical knowledge. It also involves the development of non-cognitive skills: the socio-emotional skills. These tools permeate not only professional medical practice and doctor-patient/doctor-team relationships, but also the very experience that medical school exposes its students to. Empathy, communication, trust, resilience and socio-cultural sensitivity are discussed here as fundamental tools for the doctor and medical student, and explored in a reflection text about the author's experience during her time at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), during the undergraduate medical course.

Purpose This paper aimed to implement Lean & Green principles in agribusiness, specifically by using Sustainable Value Stream Mapping (Sus-VSM) to evaluate key indicators for the present and future states of an orange farm. The goal was to enhance value while minimizing environmental impacts. Design/methodology/approach – This study utilizes a mixed-method research approach, incorporating both qualitative and quantitative methods. It adapts Sus-VSM and introduce inventory analysis blueprints for use in the agricultural sector, employing a case study on an orange farm in Sergipe, Brazil. The research aims to offer practical insights when applying Lean & Green principles in agribusiness, introducing also the Overall Lean-Green Effectiveness (OLGE) as a novel decision-making indicator for managers. Findings – The research highlight the potential of Sus-VSM in agriculture but suggests the need for some process adjustments for successful implementation. The study's indicators reveal that the current state generates 70.55% more impacts (0.47 tCO2e/ha), and the future state could add 4.08% more aggregated value. The OLGE could be increased by up to 137% from the current to the future state scenario if improved the stocks management of inputs in the field. Originality – The adaptation of VSM for farm operations along with the inclusion of sustainability indicators represents a novel approach to improving agricultural processes while controlling environmental impacts. A new Lean & Green indicator was proposed, the OLGE, to facilitate interpretation of results and create improvement suggestions.

The present study consists of a literature review of national scientific production on the topic of food selectivity and the school environment in people with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and aims to analyze the scientific production of Brazilian articles related to the topic. The searches were carried out on articles from the last 10 years, in the CAPES Periodicals, Google Scholar and Pepsic databases, using the descriptors “ASD” (Autism Spectrum Disorder), “autism”, “food selectivity”, “education”, “eating dysfunction”, “eating sensory dysfunction”. 19 articles were found, of which six met the research inclusion and exclusion criteria, therefore, these were selected for analysis. The results indicated a lack of studies on the subject, mainly relating food selectivity and the school environment, and also indicated that there is a higher prevalence in children with ASD. In the school environment, food selectivity can have a significant impact. Therefore, the inclusion of children with ASD and food selectivity can be a challenge, as it can affect not only the child's physical well-being, but also their participation in school activities and social interactions.

The durability of a building is directly linked to the humidity to which it is exposed and, once this condition is present, the acceleration of the deterioration process of structures is visibly observed through corrosion of reinforcement, problems in various coatings and the degradation of the concrete itself. Waterproofing in civil construction is extremely important in ensuring the preservation of real estate assets, habitability, building functionality, health, safety and well-being of users. Among the places that need to be waterproofed, roof slabs without a roof stand out. The objective of this work is to evaluate, based on the documentary analysis of fifteen cases for three different waterproofing systems (asphalt blanket, PVC blanket and polyurethane membrane), the degree of adhesion in the execution of waterproofing systems for roof slabs without roof in relation to good practices through the preparation of a checklist consistent with what is prescribed in normative documents and main references on the topic. Regarding obtaining the degree of total or partial adherence per stage of each case analyzed, they were obtained by dividing the number of items marked with “NO” and the sum of the number of items marked with “YES” and “NO” by completing the checklist. It was observed that, regarding the degree of adhesion, for the asphalt blanket system, cases 3 and 4 obtained a percentage of 97.22%, while cases 1, 2 and 5, 100.00%. As for the PVC blanket system, all cases obtained 100.00%. Finally, for the polyurethane membrane system, case 1 obtained a percentage of 93.10% and the others, 100.00%. Regarding the less adherent stage, there is the Application of the Type of Waterproofing. Therefore, analyzing the results obtained, the greater probability of failures occurring in cases 3 and 4 of asphalt blanket and in case 1 of polyurethane membrane is clear, all due to some mistake or error in the Waterproofing Type Application stage.

In 1856, Riemann introduced the Dirichlet Principle as an innovative approach to the Dirichlet Problem, proposing a treatment based on a variational problem. Essentially, this principle aimed to minimize an energy functional within a class of admissible functions. Despite its imprecisions, the Dirichlet Principle was adopted by renowned mathematicians, including Riemann himself, as evidenced in its application in the proof of the Conformal Mapping Theorem. However, around 1870, the mathematical community underwent revisions that questioned previously considered evident concepts. In this context, examples contradicting the Dirichlet Principle emerged, necessitating a correction. The solution came with the theory of Sobolev spaces, developed by Sergei Sobolev. These spaces provide an elegant mathematical framework, extending the concept of derivatives beyond smooth functions, allowing the analysis of functions with weak or even distributional derivatives. Sobolev spaces, in turn, play a fundamental role in mathematical analysis, finding applicati- ons in various areas, from the theory of partial differential equations to optimization and differential geometry. This work aims to delve deeply into this theory, relying on references such as (PONCE, 2009), (EVANS, 2010), (FOLLAND, 1999), (BARTLE, 1995), (BREZIS, 2010), (WILLEM, 2013), and (STRUWE, 2008). In this research, the focus shifts to the resolution of Partial Differential Equations, highligh- ting the Lax-Milgram Theorem, Fredholm’s Alternative, and the application of Sobolev spaces in the analysis of a specific problem. The ultimate goal is to acquire a comprehensive and solid understanding, enabling the attainment of robust analytical results to address practical challenges in solving problems involving partial differential equations.

Brazil is currently the largest sugarcane producer in the world, reaching 677.6 million tons of processed sugarcane in the 2022/23 harvest, the main products of which are ethanol and sugar. In order to meet the entire demand of the sector, it is extremely important to maintain high productivity in the field, and one of the main obstacles would be the presence of diseases in the field, one of the main ones being orange rust. It is a disease caused by a fungus Puccinia kuehnii, which is characterized by high dissemination and is responsible for reducing the photosynthetic area of the plant, reducing its productivity. Its main control method is the adoption of resistant varieties, however in some cases this resistance can be broken, potentially causing major losses to the sector. Therefore, the present work aimed to: I. Phenotypically evaluate whether P. kuehnii manifested in the variety RB966928 is a new physiological race. II. If objective I is proven, evaluate whether there is a microsatellite molecular marker capable of differentiating the different physiological races tested. The first part of the work was conducted in a closed environment, with light and climate controlled, the design was randomized blocks, where two varieties (RB966928 and SP89-1115) and two isolates of different origin (ScPk01-207 and ScPk20-01) were tested. , with 5 repetitions per treatment, carried out in duplicate. Moving on to the molecular part, extracting DNA from a pustule per inoculated plant, and its analysis carried out through PCR, followed by electrophoresis. The evaluation of the first part was carried out at 14, 21, 28 and 35 days after inoculation of the treatments, carrying out an analysis of the percentage of affected area, and at 28 days an analysis of the viability of the urediniospores was carried out. The work concluded the existence of a new physiological race of virulent P. kuehnii, the variety RB966928, which presented a percentage of affected leaf area greater than 1%, and its spores proved to be viable. In the second part, it was not possible to identify an SSR capable of demonstrating a genetic difference between the isolates evaluated.

This work aims to analyze the debate on the security of the Brazilian Electronic voting machine since the implementation of computerized voting in the country by the Superior Electoral Court, in the early 2000s, until the election year of 2022. We seek to identify different contexts, rhetorical strategies and inflection points. In this sense, we comparatively structured this debate in three distinct moments: during the attempts to implement the printed voting receipt, in 2009 and 2015, and during the 2022 presidential election. To achieve the purpose, integrated Content Analysis is mobilized with the aim of identifying actors, arguments and justifications that permeated the discussion in different spaces and moments. Initially, in 2009, the unit of analysis consisted of statements from a Public Hearing, investigated from the perspectives of the field of studies in Science, Technology and Society (CTS) to map the techno-scientific controversy. Secondly, we started from 2015 to analyze statements made in the 28th Ordinary Joint Legislative Session and examine the political controversy existing in the Brazilian parliament. Finally, we used as a unit of analysis 853 unique pieces of misinformation, collected through checks carried out by nine different fact-checking websites between August 1, 2022 and December 1, 2022, to ascertain whether disinformation about electronic voting machines, predominant in 2022, represents a different phenomenon from that which characterizes controversies. The central hypothesis of the work deduces that, in the current scenario characterized by the decentralization of the production of political information, disinformation about the Electronic voting machine was the result of an agenda carried out by a certain political group with political-electoral interests, not having entered the public's agendas and the media's agendas spontaneously. The results of the study indicated that the campaign of Jair Bolsonaro, a candidate for re-election affiliated with the Liberal Party (PL), used, in the majority, content intended to attack the Brazilian electoral system based on accusations of electoral fraud and the fragility of Electronic voting machines. Therefore, the fraudulent election's rhetoric did not enter the political agenda of right-wing groups and parties in 2022, but was a strategy nurtured in the face of consecutive defeats by the disadvantaged side in Brazilian presidential disputes.

In the automotive world, the noise emitted by the exhaust of combustion vehicles is of great importance in its design. It can be focused on performance, achieving more decibels and a freer flow, thereby improving the vehicle’s efficiency in sports cars. On the other hand, for everyday and family use, a muffled sound with fewer decibels is more desirable for the project. Considering this, the automotive industry, especially in high-performance vehicles, introduced the valved muffler, which is the topic of this work. The main benefit of this type of muffler is the alteration of the acoustic characteristics of the exhaust system with just the push of a button, completely changing the user’s experience with the vehicle. It makes a sports car more usable in daily life with the valves closed, reducing the emitted sound, or enhancing the sound by opening the valves, either for a specific event or for the auditory experience. The objective of this work is to carry out the conceptual design of a valved muffler with dimensions similar to conventional mufflers available in the market without this device. For this purpose, Siemens NX CAD software was used for the 3D design of the muffler, followed by the study of gas flows inside it. The results indicate that the use of an internal valve to alter the path of the exhaust gases can increase restriction when the valve is closed, reducing the vehicle’s sound. Conversely, when open, it allows for a free flow of gases, improving the vehicle’s performance and increasing the sound emitted by the exhaust system.

This study addresses the economic and zootechnical analysis of a beef cattle farming system implemented at the Lagoa do Sino School Farm (FELS), located in Buri - SP. The study was based on an extensive data collection carried out throughout the productive cycle, spanning from late 2022 to January 2024. FELS, with an area of approximately 21 hectares of pastures dedicated to this research, employs a management system consisting of two employees. The herd, comprised of 14 ½ Nelore and ½ Angus cows, along with a registered Senepol PO breed bull, is exclusively fed on Brachiaria decumbens pastures, supplemented with mineral supplementation. The economic evaluation was conducted considering operational costs, resulting in a significant deficit in the first productive cycle, mainly due to initial investments such as the acquisition of animals. However, a deeper analysis indicated that the optimization of operational costs, especially related to labor, could reduce this deficit to a more manageable level, signaling an improvement trajectory in subsequent cycles. Zootechnical indices played a crucial role in the analysis of economic viability, and the results were compared to national benchmarks and previous studies, revealing strengths such as the fertility rate of cows, which exceeded the national average. However, a significant deviation was identified in the value of meat produced per hectare, indicating the need for a more detailed investigation into specific variables of the system. Facing initial challenges, the research concludes that the continuity of the study, coupled with the implementation of identified improvement strategies, is essential to consolidate an efficient and economically viable system. The ongoing pursuit of efficiency, the review of inputs in feed, improvement of nutritional management, and human resource management strategies are highlighted as key areas to enhance profitability in subsequent cycles. Thus, the research contributes not only to understanding the economic performance of the system but also to identifying practical strategies that can be implemented to improve efficiency and profitability in beef cattle production.

Child development (CD) constitutes a period characterized by significant gains and changes in a child's abilities, learning, behavior, and socialization. In this regard, studies aimed at mapping risk and protective factors during this period are essential for the development of monitoring and protective actions. In view of the importance of using tools to assist professionals in the CD surveillance process, as well as the policies and studies in the field advocating for intersectionality to promote comprehensive and integrated childhood care, the objective of this study was to initiate the validation process of an intersectoral instrument for detecting risk in child development. To achieve this purpose, a quantitative methodological research was conducted, consisting of three main stages: analysis of the pilot instrument by a group of experts in the field, allowing for corrections and finalization of the pilot instrument; cognitive unfolding, involving professionals and family members, in which the instrument was evaluated for clarity and language, subsequently corrected based on participants' suggestions; and the pre- test, involving professionals working with the child population, who applied and used the instrument in their practice. Additionally, a prototype of a digital version of the instrument was developed to enhance its practicality and application efficiency. The research results showed that the instrument achieved the necessary values in the statistical evaluations to which it was subjected, including Cronbach's Alpha coefficient and Content Validity Coefficient, demonstrating stability and reliability and providing evidence of the instrument's validity. Despite the research fulfilling its objective and emphasizing the importance of such instruments, as well as the professionals' interest in using it, further evaluation stages and subsequent research are necessary for the instrument to be widely disseminated and used.

Chitosan is a polysaccharide obtained from the deacetylation of chitin, which is found in the exoskeletons of crustaceans and insects. Seed coating techniques emerged mainly intending to assist their performance in the field during germination. The formation of a solid and uniform thin layer around the seeds based on synthetic or natural polymers guarantees greater protection against mechanical damage, biotic and abiotic factors, and enables the incorporation of nutrients and other active agents. The use of biopolymers in seed coating represents a sustainable alternative and can reduce environmental impacts. The physicochemical characterization of the film-forming formulations is crucial to understanding the behavior of coated seeds. In this context, the present work aimed to evaluate the physicochemical characteristics of chitosan films with different concentrations of biopolymer and glycerol (plasticizer). The molecular weight and degree of deacetylation of the chitosan were determined. The films were produced by casting and characterized in terms of their visual appearance, thickness, moisture content, water vapor permeability (WVP), water absorption, crystallinity, and chemical structure. The results gathered indicate that the chitosan-based formulations show good perspectives for seed coating applications.

According to the literature, materials with a pyrochlore structure have garnered interest due to various applications. Neodymium zirconate (Nd2Zr2O7) stands out among pyrochlores owing to its low thermal conductivity and high thermal expansion coefficient, finding applications in transparent ceramics, electrical conductors, and catalysis. The methodology was based on previous works, employing a 24 factorial design to vary 4 factors at 2 levels, resulting in 16 combinations. Equimolar aqueous solutions containing Nd3+ and Zr4+ ions were precipitated with ammonium hydroxide and subsequently calcined. Concentration, solution temperature, and pre-calcination thermal treatment time were analyzed. The results indicated that higher concentration favored pyrochlore phase formation, emerging as the most influential variable. Precipitation temperature also had a positive effect, while thermal treatment time influenced pyrochlore phase formation, particularly when combined with the amorphous phase. Microwave irradiation showed minor significance, primarily for shorter thermal times. Catalytic activity was not observed for this material in the esterification reaction of oleic acid with ethanol. The research underscores the importance of experimental details in Nd2Zr2O7 synthesis. In conclusion, the study contributes not only to enriching the scientific literature but also to guiding future researchers in pursuit of consistent and reproducible Nd2Zr2O7 syntheses, offering prospects for deeper analyses of these parameter effects.

One of the main challenges for current agriculture is the proliferation of pest insects in crops, especially different species of aphids, due to the large number of crops they infest, their high reproductive capacity, and the transmission of various phytopathogenic viruses. Depending on the degree of infestation, biological control becomes essential to reduce this population without the problems associated with the use of chemical products, and ladybugs are known to be the main predators of these insects. Using bibliometrics, it is possible to analyze scientific advancements in the field over a period of time, and in this work, the last 20 years of research on aphid biological control with ladybugs were analyzed, a seemingly restricted topic but one that encompasses various discussions. A research with three keywords was conducted in the Web of Science database, where all results published between 2003 and 2023 were selected and analyzed with the aid of VOSviewer, a software for creating bibliometric analysis maps. The early works in this period were mostly from the United States of America and European countries, where there was a growing interest in extremely voracious and easily adaptable exotic species of lady beetles such as the Asian ladybug (H. axyridis, Pallas), for example. Over the years, numerous studies began to document the imbalance of local biodiversity caused by these predators in the regions where they settled, increasing researchers' interest in native species worldwide. Currently, much research has been conducted on the resistance of various ladybugs to climate change and different insecticides, as well as an increase in research related to aphid species and their attack on agricultural crops. It is concluded that research in this area has advanced significantly, but to make the use of ladybugs in biological control programs viable, more studies related to the dispatch and handling of these insects in the field are necessary

Análise de sentimentos no domínio do e-commerce utilizando modelos de linguagem
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-02-09) Cândido, Gabriel Barbosa; Caseli, Helena de Medeiros; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6608582057810385; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3996-8599; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0909408723598552
Natural Language Processing (NLP) is a subfield of computer science, specifically within Artificial Intelligence, aimed at providing computers with the ability to comprehend words, both in text and speech, similar to how humans do. One domain where NLP has been extensively applied is e-commerce. When consumers make purchases, they often share opinions about products, enabling companies to identify areas for improvement through the emotional content of these reviews. Within the scope of NLP, the task of Sentiment Analysis aims to address this issue by classifying the emotional content behind these opinions. In this context, the primary objective of this work is to compare different approaches of neural networks based on transformer architectures. Notably, the BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers) model stands out with a remarkable evolution in transformer architecture. BERT, along with its variants, has demonstrated prominence as a class of models that surpass sequential information processing. Among the variants of BERT, BERTimbau, specifically trained for Brazilian Portuguese, stands out as a benchmark model in tasks such as semantic similarity, textual inference, and named entity recognition. This study conducts fine-tuning of the BERT, RoBERTa, and BERTimbau models for sentiment classification, utilizing the B2W-Reviews corpus. The goal is to establish a benchmark in the context of Sentiment Analysis for the Portuguese language.

This monograph consists of a study on some fundamental concepts of Measure Theory, such as σ-algebras and measure. In this way, the concepts and properties of algebras and σ-algebras will be seen, as well as the types of measures that can be derived from them. In addition, the concept of measure spaces, measurable functions and integration of these types of functions will also be presented. Finally, an application of such concepts in Ergodic Theory will be presented.
