(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-11-22) Magalhães, Gustavo Abdouni; Santos, Maria Walburga dos; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2954227254025696; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9304-5800; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4689891500042770; https://orcid.org/0009-0000-1127-1568
This Final Graduation Paper aims to analyze the proportion of impacts of adult/child in daycare schools in Sorocaba. For this reason, a qualitative exploratory research was carried out with education professionals around the city, by using an online questionnaire and analysis of public institutional documents as a data collection method. The statements indicate a high level of disapproval from the part of professionals in relation to the number of children per adult in municipal daycare schools. In addition, several other factors were planned, such as physical and psychological exhaustion, the feeling of devaluation, and illness in the class; both pedagogical and logistical limitations, among other problems, directly impacting the well-being of the children and present professionals. The results point to the need to re-evaluate public policies on early childhood education and promote debate on the quality of care in Early Childhood Education Centers (as known as CEIs).

This project consists of creating a prototype walkway equipped with pressure sensors, which will be used by the Department of Physiotherapy at the Federal University of São Carlos, with the aim of applying the Walking Trail Making Test (WTMT) to evaluate patients with Alzheimer's disease. The Walking Trail Making Test (WTMT) consists of a walking test on a walkway with markings, which evaluates the motor and cognitive functions of a patient with mild or moderate Alzheimer's disease. One of the difficulties for the professional who is administering the test is to maintain a standard in recording the patient's performance data, while also observing their behavior while performing the test. To overcome this difficulty, a low-cost automated walkway was developed that captures patient data during the WTMT, in order to avoid errors when recording patient performance data and improve diagnosis in mild or moderate stages of the disease. In addition to using low-cost components, the prototype walkway developed is designed to be foldable and easy to transport. The walkway has low-cost piezoelectric pressure sensors that send signals corresponding to the places where the walkway was stepped on, to an Arduino Mega 2560 microcontroller. A graphical interface was also developed in Excel that displays the data processed by the Arduino on a notebook screen in real time. This processed data is saved in a database that was created in Excel, allowing the management of WTMT data and enabling the generation of specific reports for each patient.

The city of São Paulo incorporated into its Special Education Policy from the Perspective of Inclusive Education for the Municipal Education Network of São Paulo - RME/SP, the provision of Specialized Educational Services (AEE) in three modalities, namely: Collaborative AEE, Itinerant AEE and After-School AEE. In this context of various AEE, it is interesting to know: How does the Itinerant AEE modality occur, specifically regulated in the São Paulo Policy of Special Education from the Inclusive Perspective of the City of São Paulo? What relationships are established between the action of the itinerant AEE service and the regular classroom teacher that can contribute to the curricular access of the target audience of Special Education? How is the Itinerant AEE Service organized in the Education of the City of São Paulo/SP? Therefore, the importance of understanding the relationships established between PAAIs and their functional attributions is justified, outlining the general objective of the research to analyze the Specialized Educational Assistance Service in an Itinerant manner of the Municipal Education Network of São Paulo, as well as more specifically aiming to: a) characterize the professionals who make up the Support Services for school inclusion in the RME/SP, b) describe the roles assigned and performed by these professionals and list the Itinerant AEE and c) understand how the pedagogical practices related to the mediations assigned to the PAAI, who work in the Itinerant AEE, are being operationalized. To this end, to describe and analyze how the itinerant AEE occurs, an investigation was carried out involving the participation of thirty-seven Support and Monitoring Teachers for Inclusion, linked to the thirteen Regional Education Directorates - DREs, undertaking data collection from document analysis, questionnaires with open and closed questions and interviews in focus groups. The conclusions drawn from the PAAIs were that it is critically important to collaborate in the Itinerant AEE together with educational units. The urgent need to expand the PAAIs framework to serve Special Education Target Audience Students (EPAEE) was also highlighted, as well as the importance of considering the integrality of the subjects and the promotion of school inclusion as a means of stimulating universal and equitable participation. Finally, by analyzing nine educational policies, it was evident that the Itinerant AEE is only present in the São Paulo Policy for Special Education from the Perspective of Inclusive Education (PPEE-EI), in the context of the city of São Paulo. It was observed that there is, therefore, a rich opportunity to expand this modality to other smaller cities, expanding the offer of AEE services beyond what is traditionally carried out, that is, beyond the activities in multifunctional resource rooms in the afternoon, which has been prioritized in national educational policies for school inclusion.

Modelos de sobrevivência induzidos por fragilidade
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-11-22) Sacramento, Michele Maciel; Cancho, Vicente Garibay; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3503233632044163; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5148555628568608
Applications in survival analysis can incorporate covariates, such as age, sex, disease severity, or laboratory data, which are known. However, there are many other unknown factors that can influence an individual's survival, including health status, lifestyle, smoking, occupation, and genetic risk factors. These factors are referred to as frailty and control the unobserved heterogeneity of the study's individuals. Thus, the objective of this work is to develop frailty models for modeling unobserved heterogeneity in survival data. In this context, the Family of Power Variance Functions (PVF) will be considered for modeling the unobserved heterogeneity of these data and the Piecewise Exponential Model (MEP) will be adopted as the baseline hazard function. The proposed approach is flexible, as the PVF distribution includes major frailty models as special cases and, in turn, the MEP model provides a semiparametric alternative to parametric distributions, being widely used due to its ability to accommodate hazard functions in different forms, without the need to impose restrictions to achieve a good fit to the data. Consequently, the presented models are extended to allow the construction of defective and long-duration univariate models, resulting in zero frailty, where it is possible to determine the proportion of individuals immune to the event of interest in survival studies. Furthermore, a bivariate long-duration frailty model is introduced, using Poisson mixture and the PVF family distributions. This model is enhanced, generating a regression model that allows the assessment of the impact of covariates on survival data. The inferential approach is based on bayesian methods using the Hamiltonian Monte Carlo method implemented in R-Stan, where some simulation results are provided to evaluate the performance of certain properties of the Bayes estimators. The importance of models is illustrated through applications to real data sets.

Climate change requires a transition in the ways energy is produced and consumed. Metal hydrides (MH) can play important roles in this transition, acting as low-carbon hydrogen storage in the solid state or as energy storage in Ni-MH batteries powered by renewable sources. In this case, MHs are formed by the reaction between metal and hydrogen generated by water electrolysis in an alkaline electrolyte. The electrochemical hydrogenation of metals is a complex issue, involving phenomena described by different areas of knowledge such as electrochemistry, thermodynamics, and physical metallurgy. In this thesis, the electrochemical hydrogenation of two metals is investigated through this multidisciplinary approach. Initially, the electrochemical hydrogenation of Pd was studied, considered a model system due to its noble nature and its ability to absorb hydrogen, forming the hydride PdH0.6, which has the same crystal structure as Pd (FCC). Through the study of this model system, the concepts of reaction kinetics involved in the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) were related to the thermodynamics and kinetics of hydrogen absorption by Pd and the formation of PdH0.6. Next, the electrochemical hydrogenation of metals was investigated in a more complex system, using the metal Nb. Nb is a body-centered cubic metal capable of absorbing hydrogen by forming two hydrides (β-NbHx orthorhombic and δ-NbH2 FCC). In addition to the formation of hydrides with different crystal structures, Nb also tends to form oxides on its surface. For Nb, the HER, thermodynamics, phase transformation mechanisms, and the impact of oxides on electrochemical hydrogenation and dehydrogenation were studied. The thickness of the Nb oxide layer increases under anodic potentials but has a limited impact on hydrogen desorption. The irreversible absorption is primarily linked to the displacive formation of the δ phase.

“Liberdade de expressão”: uma análise discursiva dos usos e abusos desse enunciado pela extrema direita brasileira
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2024-11-22) Silva, Joseli Machado da; Curcino, Luzmara; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4849994635754652; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-3555-1446; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2689341950231850; https://orcid.org/0009-0005-8661-3290
The Brazilian extreme-right, as paradoxical as it may seem, has become the herald of the demand for “freedom of expression.”. It is not, however, the same 'freedom of expression' for which former liberals and current progressives fought. This statement, in its appropriation by the extreme-right, was subjected to an emptying of its signifier, in a subversion of its meaning, which in this update ceases to refer to an inalienable right in democratic societies to become a kind of habeas corpus to protect those who, through verbal expression, violate laws and advance the rights of other citizens, promoting the distortion of consensual and historically established truths, systematically and strategically mobilizing lies and slander as disloyal and illegal instruments in political disputes. It is the analysis of the discursive functioning of these contours and the uses of this utterance in a video, of the documentary genre, by the producer Brasil Paralelo, released on August 17, 2020, entitled “Os donos da Verdade”, to which we dedicate ourselves in this work, supporting ourselves theoretically in some principles of Discourse Analysis, especially of Foucauldian orientation. To this end, we proceeded to identify, select and cut out a series of discursive sequences from the documentary in which the statement 'freedom of expression' appears. Then, we seek to group and characterize these sequences according to their inscription in given discursive formations, and to analyze, from the establishment of their relations with other utterances, the intended effects of meaning. In our analysis, we mainly use the conceptions of “discourse” and “utterance” according to Foucault's (1987, 2014) perspective, of “discursive formation” as also defined by Michel Pêcheux (2018), and of “discursive memory” according to Jean-Jacques Courtine (1999, 2009).
