listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, How E, S, and G scores impact S&P 500 firms’ performance(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-11-18) Val, Tiago Augusto do Amaral Carneiro do; Moralles, Herick Fernando; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3603674784653923; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5521-9443; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8569569127416261; https://orcid.org/0009-0002-1679-3546; Santana, Naja Brandão; Rebelatto, Daisy Aparecida do Nascimento; https://lattes.cnpq.br/4950197164940762; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7852151945196465; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0378-0167; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0611-1492Currently, organizations see environmental and financial performance as an inseparable binomial. Against this backdrop, this study aims to understand the individual impact of the Environmental, Social, and Governance pillars on business performance. To this end, this dissertation is structured into two articles. In the first, a systematic review of the literature on business performance in different clusters is carried out, providing a clear overview of trends and indicating possible directions for future research. In the second article, based on a panel of S&P 500 companies (from 2018 to 2024), the E (environmental), S (social), and G (Governance) scores developed by Bloomberg were collected. The results show that only the E (Environmental) score has a positive impact on corporate performance (ROA), while the S score has a negative impact, and the G score was not statistically relevant. The results obtained are among the few studies to dissociate ESG into its different pillars, so the findings may be useful in terms of directing resources and re-evaluating S and G strategies.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Combinação de métodos computacionais e da ciência cidadã para o mapeamento de áreas suscetíveis a inundações: estudo de caso em Campina do Monte Alegre - SP(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-11-18) Cilto, Gabriela Gonçalves; Fava, Maria Clara; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2972648262855239; Vasconcelos, Anaí Floriano; https://lattes.cnpq.br/6595801339743126; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5888504491604419The lack of systematization of hydrological data is a common issue in Brazil. One indication of this is that only 40.6% of municipalities possess a risk management plan, a crucial step in mitigating the impacts of natural disasters. Furthermore, the effects of climate change have intensified the frequency of extreme events, thereby increasing the need for methodologies that more accurately reflect reality, are easily obtainable, and accessible for predicting and mitigating the impacts of such events. In light of this scenario, the present study aimed to map flooded areas resulting from extreme events based on a historical retrospective of flood occurrences using citizen science, and to compare the flood maps generated by different methods. To this end, two Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) were employed: one generated by a drone without RTK and another provided by ANADEM. Additionally, two methods for generating flood maps were evaluated: the HAND Model software and QGIS using the table reclassification tool. Regarding the results obtained, the ANADEM DTM combined with the HAND Model demonstrated superior performance, achieving an AG of 100% and an F1 score of 1.00 for the 2004 event. For the year 2016, this configuration yielded an AG of 85.71% and an F1 score of 0.92. The maps generated using the drone DTM produced less representative results, with AG values of 69.23% and 61.54% for the year 2004, and AG of 85.71% and F1 score of 0.92 for the 2016 event using the HAND and QGIS models, respectively. Despite the limitations associated with the method, the collection of data and flood records through citizen science proved to be an effective alternative for obtaining information in regions with a deficit of systematized data. The integration of this approach with the analysis of historical series enabled the mapping of flood-prone areas and the identification of critical events, a fundamental step in the development of risk management plans. It is concluded that the applied methodology constitutes a viable, accessible, and reproducible alternative for mapping areas susceptible to flooding, thereby contributing to the enhancement of territorial management and the strengthening of public policies focused on adaptation and mitigation in response to natural disasters.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Produção de biomassa em sistemas agroflorestais como alternativa e estratégia de desenvolvimento rural sustentável(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-11-18) Oliveira, João Vitor Mendes de; Tiezzi, Rafael de Oliveira; https://lattes.cnpq.br/7979063304544915; Duval, Henrique Carmona; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1127516712972199Considering the growing relevance of agroforestry systems as a sustainable alternative for agricultural production and environmental conservation, this study aims to analyze biomass production in agroforestry systems as an effective strategy for sustainability. To this end, a qualitative research was conducted, based on a bibliographic review of materials published in the last 10 years, including scientific articles, theses, dissertations, and technical reports. The results revealed that agroforestry systems offer multiple benefits, such as increased soil fertility, water conservation, and erosion reduction, in addition to significantly contributing to biomass generation used as a renewable energy source and agricultural input. Species such as mutambo and capim - Mombaça stood out for their efficiency in biomass production, while practices like the integration of agroforestry reforestation demonstrated high potential for climate change mitigation. These findings suggest that agroforestry systems represent a promising solution to combine agricultural production, environmental conservation, and social benefits, contributing to the resilience of rural communities and to global sustainability goals.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, O corpo brincante da criança com transtorno do espectro autista na educação infantil: reflexões a partir de uma experiência pedagógica(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-11-18) Fernandes, Flavia Carolina Alves Fermino; Lombardi, Lucia Maria Salgado dos Santos; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5697508831302188; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6978-864X; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5974108597381425; https://orcid.org/0009-0001-3184-6952This Undergraduate thesis presents reflections on the playful bodies of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in early childhood education. It stems from an experience initiated during an internship in which the author worked with a child with ASD, here named Alice. The qualitative and bibliographical research sought to answer the research question: How to understand the playful bodies of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the context of early childhood education? The general objective of the work is to reflect on the body and play of children with ASD in early childhood education. Specific objectives include: conceptualizing the characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorder in childhood; understanding the bodily and communicative expressions of these children; reflecting on teacher mediation in light of the singularities of the autistic body; and learning about sensitive pedagogical practices that promote inclusion and integral development. The observations allowed for an understanding of the body as a mediator of experiences and learning, recognizing play as an essential language in the formation of the child. Pedagogical practices based on listening, affection, and respect for individual rhythms promote the inclusion and holistic development of children with ASD, reaffirming the ethical and human commitment of teaching in Early Childhood Education.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, Comparação do support vector machine com outros métodos de classificação: uma aplicação a dados de nascimentos prematuros(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-11-18) Sartori, Letícia Bernardes; Diniz, Marcio Alves; https://lattes.cnpq.br/8948404469003829Worldwide, thousands of births are premature, often causing irreversible damage to the health of the children and/or their mothers. This project aims to apply statistical techniques, more specifically a supervised machine learning method for binary classification (where the target variable can only assume two values, such as 1 if the baby is premature and 0 otherwise), to identify and quantify maternal and neonatal factors that may be associated with premature births. To this end, the Support Vector Machine (SVM) method will be used and its predictive performance will be compared with traditional parametric models, such as logistic regression, and with a semi-parametric model based on Gaussian processes.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, O jornalismo local e a reportagem multimodal como ferramentas de educação midiática: um estudo de caso da Agência Mural(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-11-18) Rosendo, Ana Júlia Storti; Carvalho, Pedro Henrique Varoni de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/0019513394358070; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1492-4891; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5332275036796789; https://orcid.org/0009-0007-7457-1817With the rise and popularization of social networks, different parts of the globe are increasingly connected through technology, enabling the accelerated dissemination of information to anyone and everyone, an activity that was previously the domain of journalists, professionals committed to fact-checking before reporting them. With the absence of this commitment to information, there is a growing circulation of misinformation, or fake news, especially in Brazilian municipalities where there is no official media outlet, that is, in the so-called news deserts. Therefore, this work seeks to understand the importance of media literacy in combating this social problem, mainly through local journalism and multimodal reporting, which reach a larger number of readers. To achieve these objectives, the methodology involves a case study of the special report "Sem Notícias" (Without News), produced by Agência Mural, on news deserts and the impacts of misinformation on people's lives, and interviews with a journalist responsible for the news. The study observes that new journalistic textual architectures are important for information to reach a wider audience, and that classroom activities can be considered potential media literacy initiatives, helping to combat misinformation.listelement.badge.dso-typeItem, A transversalidade da temática da puberdade em Freud e as interseções com a noção de desamparo(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-11-18) Castão, Kelyn Cristina; Namba, Janaina; https://lattes.cnpq.br/5016873975206205; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-0878-5282; https://lattes.cnpq.br/1301662714220278; https://orcid.org/0009-0006-3321-8921; Risk, Eduardo Name; Bocchi, Josiane Cristina; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9006559297031800; https://lattes.cnpq.br/9529234724656394; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7290-2597; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2657-9490The essay investigates the transversality of the theme of puberty in the work of Sigmund Freud and its intersections with the notion of helplessness, proposing a reading that articulates the development of psychoanalytic theory with the understanding of psychic constitution and the specific forms of suffering characteristic of adolescence. The study begins with the observation that, although Freud did not devote a systematic elaboration to adolescence, puberty appears recurrently at different moments of his theoretical production, assuming relevance for the understanding of the psychic constitution of individuals. The research seeks to reconstruct the trajectory of the theme of puberty in Freud’s work, considering that the conceptual changes surrounding sexuality reflect the importance that puberty acquires within his theoretical elaboration. Initially, it is understood as a physiological moment conducive to the outbreak of neuroses, linked to the increase in sexual excitation. With Freud’s theoretical revision, puberty comes to be conceived as the second stage of sexuality – a phase of re-signification of childhood experiences and of the shaping of adult sexuality. The essay proposes that the analysis of puberty in Freud allows for an understanding of the modes of psychic suffering experienced by young people today, based on its articulation with the notion of helplessness (Hilflosigkeit), which became central in Freud’s work from the 1920s onward. It also highlights how adolescence can be understood as a period of confrontation with this original helplessness, in which the human being is called upon to create new ways of dealing with otherness and with the losses constitutive of the human condition.
