Olive oil production in Brazil, although a relatively recent activity, is highly promising and underscores the need for studies that encompass the entire production chain, from cultivation and processing to quality control of marketed products. In this context, the present study aimed to evaluate selected quality parameters and the sensory acceptance of olive oils produced in Brazil, in comparison with a commercial imported olive oil. The oils were characterized in terms of free fatty acid content, peroxide value, specific extinction, oxidation resistance, and chlorophyll content. The same samples were also subjected to a sensory acceptance test evaluating flavor, aroma, color, and overall acceptance. In addition, this work sought to conduct a survey through an electronic questionnaire to characterize the national olive oil production chain. The results showed that all samples met the legal requirements. Brazilian olive oils exhibited higher chlorophyll content, reflected in their greener coloration, and greater resistance to oxidation at room temperature. On the other hand, the imported olive oil demonstrated higher sensory acceptance in terms of flavor and overall acceptance. Regarding production chain insights, producers most frequently reported the Arbequina, Koroneike, and Arbosana cultivars as the primary raw materials used for olive oil production in Brazil. They also indicated that their 2022 production volume was generally between 500 and 6,000 L, despite having production capacity exceeding current output. The producers expressed optimism about the Brazilian olive oil market, while also highlighting the main challenges faced by the sector. Additionally, the survey enabled the identification of the producers’ principal demands concerning research needs and improvements in the field. Overall, the findings provide an upto-date perspective on the Brazilian olive oil production chain and demonstrate that, although national olive oils comply with regulatory quality standards, they were less accepted sensorially when compared to the imported product.

Human mobility is not a new phenomenon in history and is directly related to the very process of human development over time. Movement between territories is an intentional activity that enables people to seek to satisfy material and symbolic needs when they recognize that they can no longer meet them in their places of origin and/or residence. Currently, there has been an increase in population movements between and towards countries in the global South, with Venezuelan migration in Latin America, especially to Brazil, standing out. The enjoyment of leisure by migrants and refugees in the context of emergency shelters is an aspect that has received little attention in scientific studies in our region. The overall objective of this thesis was to understand the meaning attributed to the social practice of leisure in everyday life by indigenous refugees from the Warao and Pemón peoples, as well as to describe and analyze the educational processes resulting from the enjoyment of leisure in emergency shelters in the city of Boa Vista/RR. Ten indigenous refugees from these peoples participated in the study, eight men (one Warao and seven Pemón) and two women (one Warao and one Pemón), adults who had been living for more than thirty days in the Waraotuma a Tuaranoko shelter, where the research was conducted. The data collection instruments used were semi-structured interviews, field diaries, and photographic records, the latter used as illustrative auxiliary instruments. Data analysis was based on a hermeneutic-dialectical approach, with the construction of thematic categories organized from the units of meaning identified in the interviews. The presentation of the data was based on information systematized according to the following thematic categories: A) Coexistence as a vital dimension in the daily lives of indigenous refugees; B) The meanings of leisure and its relationship with time and pleasure; C) Leisure activities experienced in the context of the shelter. The activities observed in the shelter and mentioned in the participants' statements, such as rest, sports, games, conversations, courses, crafts, music, painting, volunteer work, and religious practices, demonstrate that leisure is experienced in a relational, collective, and creative way, often associated with coexistence, learning, and hope. In these practices, leisure is not reduced to inactivity, but is configured as a time for doing and sharing. Whether in the Athletics in Motion project, in handicrafts, or in family and community interactions, leisure emerges as an instrument of integration and subjective strengthening, enabling indigenous refugees to attribute new meanings to their life trajectories, without disregarding the daily hardships of the refugee regime. The thesis is defended that leisure constitutes a social practice that challenges the logic of immediate survival, affirming the humanity of individuals and their ability to act, learn, teach, and reinvent themselves in contexts of forced displacement. Thus, leisure reveals itself as time and space in which educational processes are triggered, composing the process of (re)existence in the daily lives of Warao and Pemón indigenous people in refugee situations.

Investigating the ground-state and ionization processes of hydrogen peroxide dimers using sequentially combined theoretical approaches
(Universidade Federal de São Carlos, 2025-11-24) Santos, José Luiz Felix; Peterson, Kirk Arnold; Souza, Gabriel Luiz Cruz de; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2951756857186266; https://lattes.cnpq.br/3442700129094678; https://lattes.cnpq.br/2821352329397835; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-1562-5233; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4901-3235; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2192-7345
We present a study of the structures and ionization energies (IEs) of a series of conformations of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) dimers. Ground-state properties were computed using the coupled-cluster with single, double, and perturbative triple excitations, CCSD(T), method with large correlation-consistent basis sets, while the ten lowest-lying IEs of the H2O2 dimer conformations were determined through the use of the equationof- motion ionization potential coupled-cluster with single and double excitations method (EOMIP-CCSD) combined with correlation-consistent basis sets, extrapolation to the complete basis set limit, and consideration of core-correlation effects. All of the stable conformations were determined to be within 10 kJ/mol of the most stable structure (conformation I). The first IE of conformation I was determined to be 11.72 eV, while the corresponding value for conformation V was calculated as 11.58 eV. This difference (which was also noticed for other low-lying IEs and conformations) may be helpful for the assignments of experimental results. Given that the H2O2 clusters were first isolated through the use of beam experiments in the recent years, it is expected that the present work can call the attention of the community. In addition, the use of the combined theoretical approaches employed regarding the selection of the relevant conformations and the exploration of the corresponding ionization processes for the molecular clusters may present an initial guide for researchers venturing into the field.

The Pantanal has been subjected to increasing anthropogenic pressures, further exacerbated by extreme events driven by human activity. Since 2020, the occurrence of severe and recurrent fires has heightened concerns regarding environmental impacts and the implications for the conservation of the biome. This study aimed to analyze, based on the available literature, the context and effects of wildfires in the Brazilian Pantanal within a scenario of global climate crisis, identifying their main consequences and the future prospects for conservation. The study was conducted through a bibliographic review encompassing scientific articles, technical reports, official documents, and governmental and academic databases. The results indicate that the combination of more severe droughts, climate change, land-use transformations, and the expansion of human activities has contributed to the increased frequency and intensity of fires, thereby compromising the ecological resilience of the biome. Among the observed impacts, biodiversity loss, habitat degradation, and the reduction of flooded areas stand out. Thus, it is understood that the existing response mechanisms remain insufficient in the face of the magnitude of contemporary pressures, making the implementation of integrated public policies and evidence-based management strategies essential to ensure the conservation and ecological integrity of the Pantanal in the coming decades.

Environmental perception can be defined as the subjective interpretation of the environment, influenced by experiences, values, and sociocultural contexts, evolving from psychological roots to applications in environmental management and public policies. Considering this, the present study was proposed to investigate the main characteristics of research on environmental perception in the Southeast Region of Brazil through a qualitative-quantitative bibliographic review, conducted in the CAPES Periodicals database, focusing on scientific articles published between 2010 and 2025. Initially, 255 studies were identified, which, after successive screening stages by title, abstract, and full reading, resulted in 70 articles that comprise the analysis corpus. The analysis covered diverse themes, with qualitative-quantitative approaches that use questionnaires and interviews to capture attitudes and knowledge. The studied publics are concentrated in urban residents, students, and peripheral communities, while the prioritized environments are the metropolitan regions of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Rio de Janeiro, revealing an urban bias that underrepresents rural and coastal areas. An increase in publications was observed from 2015 onward, with a trend toward integrating environmental perception into participatory processes of municipal management and education for sustainability. The results reinforce the role of environmental perception as a subsidy to mitigate socio-environmental crises in the most urbanized region of the country, suggesting for future research comparative urban-rural analyses, mixed methods, and intercultural investigations for more inclusive policies, as well as an in-depth analysis of the results found by the analyzed studies.

This dissertation examines the political and academic activities of an elite group that played a decisive role in shaping the Brazilian capital market—particularly through conducting research and proposing guidelines for the regulation and management of this key sector of the economy. The main object of analysis is the Revista Brasileira de Mercado de Capitais (Rbmec), a scholarly journal devoted to the study of the capital market and published between 1974 and 1996. Edited by the now-defunct Instituto Brasileiro de Mercado de Capitais (IBMEC), the journal became renowned for its pioneering role in fostering academic debates on the capital market in Brazil. The study begins by tracing the connections between IBMEC and a network of institutions that provided the intellectual foundation and financial and political support for the 1964 civil-military coup. It then turns to an in-depth exploration of the journal’s publications, with particular emphasis on discussions surrounding capital market regulation and the role of the State as a player within the financial industry. Adopting a political anthropology of finance approach, the dissertation situates these debates within a broader global historical framework. By doing so, it seeks to uncover the intellectual and political connections that reveal how the financial industry produces and sustains hierarchies on a global scale—thereby avoiding the trap of merely reproducing the terms and perspectives used by the financial capital itself.

After the 1990s, with the implementation of policies known as inclusive policies, there was an increase in the number of students with disabilities enrolling in Brazilian higher education. This demand justifies the need to examine and study the training of university professors, which, in Brazil, occurs at the postgraduate level. Thus, the general objective of this study is to investigate the pedagogical training of Brazilian university professors to work with students with disabilities, identifying its limitations and contributions to the academic trajectory of these students in higher education. Its specific objectives are: 1. To map academic publications on the pedagogical training of university professors from an inclusive perspective. 2. To identify the guidelines present in these publications for working with students with disabilities. 3. To analyze the contributions and limitations pointed out by the literature in relation to university teacher training. This is a systematic review of the literature, using the digital platforms CAPES Periodicals and SciELO and the UFSCar Institutional Repository, without a time frame, following eight basic steps of searching, storing, and selecting academic publications on the proposed theme. Four articles and one master's thesis, published between 2010 and 2021, were selected. The analyses showed that university teacher training in Brazil still focuses on scientific and technical qualifications, with little attention to pedagogical and inclusive dimensions. The absence of specific legislation to standardize training for working with special education students was identified, as well as weaknesses in initial and postgraduate training in this field. As limitations, the studies point to the lack of teacher preparation, insufficient use of accessible resources, and low participation in continuing education. As contributions, we highlight the structured offer of continuing education in many universities and the growth in the number of special education students in higher education, which has driven the debate and the need for more inclusive practices. It is concluded that it is necessary to strengthen institutional policies that guarantee continuing education, technical and pedagogical support, and practices based on equity and the appreciation of diversity, with a view to consolidating higher education that provides quality services to this population.

Shear connection and flexural behavior of steel-UHPC composite members with precast slabs under negative bending
