In view of the growth of the textile sector in recent times, the generation of problems related to the environmental impact due to the residues of this industry has been observed, since in large part the products are derived from raw materials that are not biodegradable, therefore it is necessary to develop proposals solutions for the future, so as to reduce pollution, preserving the environment. This work carried out a systematic bibliographic review on the environmental impacts generated from the waste released by the textile industry with a focus on Brazil, based on the analysis of publications in the CAPES database between 2014 and 2018. This research was carried out in three stages, exclusion criteria were applied to each of them, resulting in a list of eight articles with more relevant aspects. The results showed some solutions for the future such as: upcycling, downcycling, ecological cotton, among other options, in addition to an analysis of the scenario with actual data on the disposal and incorrect destination of this waste. Finally, the studies are extremely relevant, but the area needs more investment and research in view of the fact that the topic is not widely explored and replicated among industries.
