Estudo comparativo sobre o dimensionamento de alvenaria estrutural em flexocompressão no estádio II e estádio III
Abstract
Structural masonry has been widely used in Brazil for residential buildings,
presenting great social benefits, as the buildings can become cheaper for the final
buyer, especially for the middle and lower classes. In building projects, the vertical
loads, caused by self-weight and overloads, and the horizontal loads, caused by wind
and out of plumb, must be considered. In this context, the objective of this work is to
analyze the design of structural masonry elements subjected to axial and bending load
considering the Ultimate Limit State/Stage III, recently added in ABNT NBR
16.868:2020 and the simplified method/Stage II. Using the analytical methodology, a
flowchart of activities was organized and established for axial and bending load design
of structural masonry walls, and a parametric study was performed varying the
geometry, the material strength, and for the cases of Stage III, the variation of the steel
area, determining for each case, the results in terms of resistant forces (moment and
normal) as a function of the evaluated parameters. Based on the results presented, it
was possible to conclude that the adoption of Stage III for the design of structural
masonry walls presented more economical solutions for most cases when compared
to Stage II, reaching values around 11 times lower than Stage II.
